The Gainesville store has turned into the worst Staples I have ever been in. The present management is not at all customer friendly. The previous manager, Dawn, was absolutely fabulous. If you had an issue with anything while in her store, she would do whatever was necessary to keep a customer and make them a happy customer. I live within walking distance to this store, and I am in this store several times a month. When the Gainesville store opened, I decided that this store would get all of my office supply business. I had previously shopped at the Staples on Sudley Road in Manassas because it was in close proximity to my office. Since Dawn was transferred to another store, members of the current management team at the Gainesville store don’t really seem to care if they keep their customers or not. Silly management team members. Unhappy customers = no customers. No customers = no store. No store = no job. It doesn’t take a PhD in Economics to figure that out, just a little common sense. I was in the Gainesville store on 01÷03÷16 shopping for two items. The store did not have either item. Walmart in Haymarket had both items, so I made my purchases there. This afternoon(01÷09÷16) I was back in the Gainesville Staples armed with a 20% off coupon. I had a list of 4 items to purchase — two packages of mailing labels and two packages of TZ tape for my Brother P-Touch Label Maker. The computer applied the 20% discount to the two packages of mailing labels, but not the two packages of TZ tape. The TZ tape is pricey — the ¾″ wide tape is $ 29.99 and the two-pack of ½″ wide tape is $ 39.99. When I asked the cashier why the discount was not applied to the TZ tape, she said she did not know, but called over the Assistant Manager. After looking at the«fine print» on the coupon, the Assistant Manager«assumed» that the TZ tape fell under the prohibited«technology» category. When I pointed out that Printers were prohibited on the discount list, but paper and ink were allowable items, and asked how this differed as I was not seeking a discount on the Brother P-Touch Label Maker, just on the TZ tape, the Assistant Manager had no answer for me. He knew I was irritated as I told him I might be back the following day to make a return. When I got home, I checked prices on the internet. The ¾″ TZ tape for which I was charged $ 29.99 is available on Amazon(and yes, I am a Prime Member) for $ 10.99! REALLY stupid move on the part of the Assistant Manager not offering me a 20% discount on my a two packages of TZ tape. Had I been given the 20% discount I feel I was entitled to, I would never have price checked these items on the internet, as I feel it is extremely important to support local brick-and-morter businesses, and therefore the local economy. I will make one more trip into the Gainesville Staples — to return all 4 items I purchased on 01÷09÷16. After that, I am done with this Staples store.

I was way behind on a project: setting up a Microsoft Surface 3 tablet as a kiosk, and needed one last piece: a stylus/pen holder. I’d been all over town looking for something even remotely similar, without any luck. Finally went to this Staples, and even though they didn’t have what I needed«in stock», they were able to accommodate my rather unusual request, at a great price, and had me leaving a very satisfied customer. Thanks again for your great service! :)

Staples is a pretty standard experience and this location meets those expectations. They have what you need when it comes to office supplies so you really can’t go wrong here. The store is simple, well organized and I never have trouble finding what I need. They usually have specials going and on several occasions I’ve gotten some good deals on stuff I was and wasn’t looking for. The staff has always been helpful, polite and welcoming. I can’t think of one time where I had a bad experience so they are 5 star in this area. Most importantly they are quick on the checkout process. The only downside to this location is that it seems like they sometimes have limited stock on certain items like office furniture. It’s never been a major problem for me, but it seems kind of odd that they would be limited in any way. Altogether it’s what you expect from a Staples and I am happy with that. *This business is gun carry friendly.

Whatever you do, find somewhere else to take your computer for repair. We have taken ours to this Staples twice in in last three months and it still doesn’t work properly. All of the employees we have dealt with seem to be no longer with the company, and the managers are no help on getting a status of the repair. Most recently, we were told it would take a week, and it ended up taking more than three. Now when we boot the computer up, we get a message saying a counterfeit version of Windows 7 has been installed.

This is the new Staples off of U.S. 29 in Gainesville — in between Route 55 and U.S. 15. The store just opened last week — so it’s fresh, clean, bright, and organized. I went in to look at floor mats to protect my hardwood floor from my computer chair — but they did not stock the same items I had seen on their online store. So I wandered around and found a couple of other things I was looking for — a couple of power strips, and an 8GBUSB2.0 flash drive. The 8GB model was on sale — $ 40.00 off the normal price which put it at $ 39.99. I got in line to pay for my stuff — there were two registers open — both lines were moving slower than molasses. It took about seven minutes for the two people in line in front of me to be rung out. The other line looked like some sort of negotiation was going on — I’ve rarely witnessed such tortoise-like behavior — and I am pretty patient. When it was my turn to be rung up — the girl rings me up — then tells me the total — and I am like: Whoa! How could the bill be that high? I walked the cashier over to the item and showed her the price. Turns out their computerized register system does not recognize a sale item — be very careful when you go in here! DONOT assume they are going to know or just give you the sale price. The cashier fumbled about with the computer for a minute — then determines she cannot change the price. Then the cashier had to call a manager — the manager arrived about 3 minutes later. This place is need of some serious training — and their systems need to be better integrated and managed.
