Pupuseria El Comalito

Bad service, dirty restaurant, bad papusas, and who in the world puts chickpeas, olives, and raw chicken skin in a tamale. I don’t recommend. Ever.

I loved their panes de pollo! It is a great fresh chicken sub and add to that, the fruit salad juice to sip on the side-​yum!
Great place to get Latin American food!

Honestly when they first opened this place was really good but now its not! Other place have better pupusas. Now they barely put cheese in them. The last few time I placed phone order they alway forgot something and its sucks because nobody wants to drive all they way over there again. They need to check everything before they give it to there customer. It’s not fair because we pay for it. The service sucks also they are rude. Never plan going again

I come to this restaurant at least once a week, unfortunately it sometimes feels as if I have to come right after I eat breakfast so that a server takes my order by lunch time. Quite frankly there are times where I step into the restaurant and turn around and leave because the server on staff is the one that takes an extremely long time to take my order. The last time I was there this person took 15 minutes just to take my drink order. My family and I really love the food at Comalito, but the service is probably the worst that I have ever experienced at any restaurant I’ve ever ate in. Sometimes I order ahead so that the food is ready and then I take a table as I arrive and begin to eat. I wish that something was done about this. I know that your customer base would increase too. From beginning to end I’m probably at a table for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I’d be quite truthful in saying molasses moves faster. I hope things change.

Great pupusas and reasonable prices! Why 4 stars? Restaurant is not the cleanest and service is bad! Do take out and enjoy your homemade pupusas at home!

I’ve been eating pupusas here for a while but this time decided to dine in with my family, worst mistake ever. Food is really good which got them 2 stars but the service is lacking. Had to waive down waiter to get her attention, never came to ask if we needed anything. Waiter would in fact get irritated? Manager need to step up there customer service definitely not coming back to dine in again.

el servicio es malisimo la mesera empezo el servicio de mal humor por que la interrumpimos en su hora de break nos tardaron para la comida y el cocinero o no se que sea grocero … en pocas palabras no vayan para alla evitense de pasar un mal momento… ahhh y si van diganle que el lettrero que tienen en la puerta que Unilocal los aman es mentira… malo malo malo. pesimo no vayannn

Dueño del comalito ponga atención en su restaurant o se le ba ir a la quiebra con el mal servicio del restaurant es pésimo no atienden como debe de ser y el cajero es otro q da mal servicio es un joven.
Acuérdense empleados del comalito q ustedes tienen trabajo gracias al costumer por nosotros tienen trabajo ustedes.

Las pupusas? Mm no tan buenas lo q si me re-​choca d este lugar es el servicio al cliente llegue a recoger mi orden la persona en el mostrador no me saludo como si estuviera hablando con la pared no iba a pedir nada gratis se porto grosero mucha actitud en ese lugar me voy d Maryland con muy mal concepto y obvio no lo recomiendo a mis amistades NUNCA.

The food is reasonably priced, the pupusas are ok, their «chicharrones» are a little overcooked and hard, I’ve never had a problem with the servers, they’ve always been super friendly with me… they could move a little faster ;-) I spend at least 30 mins waiting for my food each time

The pupusas are great!!! But the service is so terrible !!! I make my order by phone and this lady did not even say how can I help you !!! And they never said sorry to the costumers to make them came back !!!

In all due fairness, the food is delicious. The problem at this establishment is the employees. If you place your order over the phone, the people who answer are rude. When you pick up the food, the cashier is rude. If you sit in, the servers are rude. Once again the food is great but I wished they hired a more service oriented staff. All this place is missing is better service. Tip, call at least 30 minutes before picking up your food, they give you a 15 – 20 minute estimate but that turns into a half hour.

No major complaints. The Pupusas were eh but I’ve had worse. The yucca and platanos were very good. Overall a very solid place to grab some Salvadorian food. I say try it out!

This was ok i ate here bcus my car was getting worked on… would i go out of my way to eat spanish food here again NO… wings were frozen then microwaved. staff was friendly and nice

The pupusas are great if you’re taking it to eat at home! Other than that the service is terrible! The waitress is super rude unless you speak Spanish (btw she does speak English — chooses not to)
She has brought us dirty water where you could actually see some black things floating in it, other times I feel like the red sauce that the pupusas come with is also used and dirty, one day someone who used it before put so much Tabasco sauce that it was unbearable to eat, when I asked her to exchange it, she rudely took it back and never came back with a new one, 10 minutes later I had to get up and go to the register and ask for it again to which she got even more mad and said the sauce is new and that’s just how it tastes, (which is a lie because you could see previous customers pupusas pieces floating in there) when I asked if I could just have a new bowl she said ok (with attitude) and in another 10 minutes brought THE SAME EXACT bowl.
Also just the other day she took a table next to us order and took their menu and threw them on our table behind her back without even looking at us and walked away, after o told my friend she’s so rude she turned around said sorry and that she will be back in a second… Needless to say she came back 15 minutes later to just take the order. Followed by a lot of attitude, when she brings the sides, it seems like she’s doing you a favor rather then her job. Constant eye rolling on the side and never looks at you. Every time I go in there she’s just in a rude stage and has a big problem with attitude. For no reason. I’ve wanted to write this after every time going in there, but just let it go every time. This time my patients cup has overflown. The only reason we go back is because of the pupusas.

Love love their Sopa de Res, sadly it’s only offered on Wednesday’s. Also their pupusas are delish, I prefer con maiz (much softer).

I used to go to El Comalito a lot but I will no longer go. Their pupusas might be the best of the area but their service sucks.
I went yesterday and I do understand that their servers have assigned tables but why would the people that go there after me be served before my family and I did?
The tablets were assigned to the same server and it took 15 – 20 just to get a drink.
We finally decided to leave and the server did’t care and just turn around.
Also, the other server try arguing that the table they served was her and not the other server’s.
I should at least deserved an apology and didn’t even get that.

Wow, I walked into the place at 9:30 PM, starving, was looking forward to having some Pupusas and some carne asada, sat and waited for 10 –15 minutes no service. Then a young kid, came out to tell me that I could get service anymore, they close at 10:00 PM, I was told that I could buy food if I got it to go. When I go to a restaurant is because I want sit down and enjoy the food, otherwise I order delivery. Very very disappointed. I am not coming back.

Not a romantic date night place, but price is great, food is great. Really good lunch stop, or in my case breakfast. Highly recommend the plantains and crème w/​beans. I can’t get enough. Awesome, local, legit place, often packed. Skip subway and get something real to eat.

This review is based solely on the décor, service, and pastales (sp?).
I always drive by this place as I’m heading to and from working out so I decided to give it a try. It’s a mom and pop, hole-​in-​the-​wall restaurant. The décor is very old and dirty feel to it. As I walked into the restaurant, there was no waiter/​waitress to help me so I just stood there looking at their pictured menu on their wall. There was a guy by the cashier so I placed my order with him. *As I was waiting for my order, a couple came in and sat down and a waitress popped out of nowhere and gave them menus. So sit your butt down when you come here, if you want to get serviced!*
Everyone on Unilocal raves about their pupusas (and the name of the restaurant is PUPUSERIA), but being a dumbass, I ordered the pastales instead, thinking it would be like empanadas. The breading was way too thick and doughy. I ordered the beef and chicken. Both were mixed with potato and a bit of carrots. I feel like I can get these empanada-​type appetizers at the local grocery stores that will taste way better and less fried.
If there is a next time, I will try the pupusas.

I had a pupusa fix, and here I was. The staff are nice. Service is fast. The place is always busy with customers. A good sign that food is good. I came here a few times for the pupusas. Its pretty good IF you it warm otherwise its a no go. The tomato salsa needs a lil flavor. Maybe add a few peppers to give it a kick. Empanadas are good and their cheese bread is good as well. I will return.

I took a friend there as a recommendation from a coworker, and let me say the pupusas were the best we’ve both have tasted, and he’s from El Salvador! The food was very, very fresh, and the Maranon was great! First time I’ve had one. I would go often if it wasn’t so far from where I live, but it was def worth the trip, and I will de def going back again very soon!
