My wife and I stopped here this morning for breakfast. I cannot review the food because we left right after we placed our order. We were seated and I ended up facing the kitchen. After ordering our coffee I noticed the cook eating hash browns from the griddle with her bare hands. As I was watching the cook eat her snack from someone’s still cooking meal, our waitress came by to fill our coffee. Aside from her poor hygiene I notice her carrying the coffee pot with her arm relaxed at her side swinging and bouncing it off her dirty pants. I explained to my wife what I’ve just witnessed and we decided to pay for our coffee and go somewhere with hygienic waitresses and cleaner facilities.

I cant review the food because we left! After we were seated by the window I looked down and noticed the filth accumulated on the floor(dust, smashed French fries, wrappers etc) …if that wasn’t bad enough, I ordered a hot tea… when I flipped over my cup to pour the hot water in I noticed what looked like coffee stain on the inside of the cup, my gut was telling me it wasn’t staining so I wet my finger and wiped it on the inside of the cup and it was dirt! It came right off on my finger! Giving them the benefit of doubt I turned over ALL four cups at the next table to try and find a clean one, ALL of them were dirty… After I realized NOONE was noticing filthy cups from the back of the house while pulling them out of the dishwasher to the front of the house putting them on the tables I decided what else do they«miss» …YIKES! No way was I going to eat there! We bailed…

Great food, great place. Like Galena, it’s a place that’ll make you feel like you’ve gone back in time. Very affordable and you can’t beat freshly squeezed orange juice.

Add this one to your taste buds vocabulary… baked chili. More importantly. .baked chili from this place!!! Listen, I’ve never even had«baked» chili before and when our server brought it out I was starting to tell her she brought the wrong thing. Dish doesn’t even resemble chili. Okay, let’s see what it tastes like. Exactly two bites later and I was already telling myself I’d be craving the stuff days later. The moral of the story, if you like chili. you’ll be blown away. Well earned five stars here! Cheers.

Homey greasy spoon, perfect for a simple egg breakfast with meat, toast, and hashbrowns. Bottomless coffee, FTW. Freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious. My fiancé was not as impressed with the roast beef sandwich he ordered from the lunch menu, however. The meat was too cooked and dry. Liked the local feel/ownership of this place, which is always preferable for me to chains. Would reccommend for a greasy breakfast, but not for lunch.

Met my step-daughter and her friend for lunch and conversation and had a lovely afternoon. Told our server we’d be there for a while and would compensate for lost table turn-over and we were pretty well doted on the whole time. Started with coffee-coffee and later switched to decaf, both types were hot and good. Neither know nor care the brand as they were well brewed and fresh for the duration of our three hour stay. Eggs Benedict were quite delicious: soft but not runny just like I like ‘em and they held up well since we got lost in conversation and I didn’t eat ‘em up right away but they were still good as they cooled. Hash browns were well done quite well, crispy but not quite burny. Asked for and received a trio of ‘surprise-me blintzes’(had the server make the call on the fixxin’s) and she brought apple, chocolate chip, and strawberry. Very good, but I think I’ll ask for traditional banana-split toppings next time but that’s mainly because I prefer pineapple to regular apple. the women knew what they wanted when they got there so I am assuming the southern skillet and french toast are good enough for repeats…
