Stopped by today for lunch per previous reviews. This is a Do Not Miss restaurant !! The atmosphere is warm, the staff friendly and efficient, and the pizza amazing. If you like thin, crispy crust with just the right cheese combo and tasty, just the right amount of sauce, this is your place. We also got a combo called Rocky Mountain with fresh vegetables that was a very tasty treat. The owner, Stephanie, was welcoming and very sweet. Being from Philly, we tend to be snooty about our pizza but this was delicioUs!!! Can’t wait to go again!!! Thank you!

I have been fortunate to travel the entire USA, searching out comfort food wherever we go. I would put this Pizza as one of the top 5 I have ever had. It is brick oven so you have to enjoy this type of pizza. I find the toppings to be very good, the crust thin and delicious, and the sauce very tasty. We travel 40 minutes each way every week or two just for their pizza.

Sadly, we will not eat here again. We had two sandwiches, with fireside bread and sweet potato fries. The total bill was 27.00. For two small sandwiches. The wait was 45 minutes, for take out. I had to call back and ask how it was so expensive, because we would never pay 11.00 for any sandwich, let alone without a side. The person who answered really didn’t seem enthused to explain it, because she probably hears it from everyone. We would not have bought the sandwiches at all if we were given a total over the phone. Also we were told 25 minutes. The food has good flavor, but nickel and diming the locals is a shame.

Visiting from out of town and consulted Unilocal for a reco since we were in the mood for brick oven pizza. This place got high marks so we gave it a try. It was AWESOME! Shared a peach prosciutto and Gorgonzola flatbread it was really delish! Then we each got a 12 in pizza with various toppings. Both were really good. Friendly service. Wish we lived closer so we could return more often

Delicious pizza and very friendly staff! The owner showed my children the ovens and chatted with them. We tried them on a whim, and do not regret it at all. I will be back!

First off, let me start by saying I haven’t had pizza in three years. Why you ask? Because I’ve been a health freak doing that whole low carb thing. But now I’m pregnant and had a serious hankering for some pizza. We live up the road from fireside and never gave it a second glance mainly because of my diet but also because it never seemed busy… And I am completely and utterly perplexed as to why. Today for the game my s/o and I decided to order a large Zion and an order of orange Thai chili wings. The wings were fantastic and the pizza… I could go on forever but I’ll try and keep it short. Light airy but crispy crust. Chicken, bacon, spinach, tomato, onion, Gorgonzola and garlic dressing. Drool worthy. And in the words of my pizza snob boyfriend, «this is so good and I don’t feel like an asshole after eating this. It’s like healthy pizza!» What he is saying in layman’s terms is there is minimal grease to this pizza and a ton of clearly fresh ingredients. My only reason for knocking it down a star is because I was told it would be ready in 15 and I left ten minutes after ending the phone call(I live 7 minutes away) and when I got there my pizza was just going into the oven and the wings into the fryer. On the bright side they were hot and I’m patient. On the downside, if I was in a rush or not patient I wouldn’t have been pleased. Regardless, we will be back. Most definitely.

The food was ok but the service was terribly slow. I might be inclined to give it a second go but it might be a while.

Fireside has really stepped up their game in the past year or two. My biggest complaint used to be that there was a 50⁄50 chance you’d be getting a burned pizza, but I’ve found that this issue happens rarely now. I love their sauce, and the ratio of cheese/sauce/other toppings is perfect. If you dine in, service is almost always quick and friendly. My favorite pizza place in Ledyard. Specials are worth a shot too, because they’re usually a hit, though when I go, it’s almost always for pizza.

The pizza is definitely five stars. I wouldn’t recommend anything other than the pizza. I had the stuffed shells tonight and the filling tasted spoiled. It was not edible.

Return visit and more impressed. The plan to try Fireside«again» only took a week. Total thumbs up as my second experience with my traditional meatball, roasted peppers, and light cheese did not fail. It’s proof to me that everything is always done very well… perfect. Tried another pizza to test their skills. Created a white pie with pesto, black olives, feta, and roasted peppers… it was AWESOME. Perfectly assembled, ratio of toppings were spot on, and the crust may be the best in Connecticut. Its flavor, texture, chew factor holds up without getting soggy or limp… GREAT quality. First visit involved some service issues, but not this visit. All is forgiven. The staff was awesome today and my previous issues disappeared. Will return again soon but not soon enough. The meatball, roasted peppers, light cheese will always be the foundation of every visit. I hope that specials or additional items provide new adventures to explore… Do Not Miss«Fireside» …I miss it already.

My fiancé had a conversation with the owner’s father in a parking lot, just a random stranger being friendly talking about their motorcycles. He recommended we try this place. So we had an impromptu ride on our bikes and date night. Very cute little place. As we were sitting there deciding what to order the owner, Stephanie, came over to greet us, I asked her for suggestions on the wings and we ended up with the orange Thai chili wings with the cucumber wasabi dipping sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly and the flavors were just dynamite! I saved the wasabi dipping sauce to dip my crust in and ate every last drop. We decided to create our own pizza, ricotta and mozzarella with garlic eggplant and sausage. The crust was light and crispy and the Ricotta was infused with some herbs, again the flavors were just dynamite and the crust was perfect! You can tell that the owner is very passionate about the food that she serves, with heart and soul. We will be going back again on a Wednesday for pasta night which includes a bottle of wine half price. We are looking forward to our next trip. I highly recommend you try this place.

Usually, the fussier, more unique, and more«foodie» a restaurant’s choices are, the more likely I am to be excited about them. In this particular case, it’s the solid craft, well-made dough, and fresh ingredients that make this restaurant a clear winner, which is far from fussy. When I first dined here, I had an initial feeling of «here we go again.» The interior is a typical family atmosphere pizzeria, centralized around an enormous brick oven. Once I gave the menu and the décor a second glance, it was clear that this was no ordinary pizzeria. Pizza selection, sandwiches, and salads are based on outdoor themed hiking locations. I was really impressed to see the variety of the menu, and had a hard time deciding on what to order because there were so many things I wanted to order simultaneously! The dining experiences I’ve had here were all excellent. My favorite pizza is the Zion, topped high with exceptionally fresh veggies, grilled chicken, crunchy bacon, and a variety of cheeses. Our friends ordered a simple pepperoni, and a vegetarian as well. Between slices, all was heard were mmmmmmm’s, and resounding remarks of «wow, this really is good!» I don’t remember the last time I’ve fought my husband for the last slice of pizza, but the pizza here warrants a tussle for ever last bite. Specials are rotating, including an alluring peach flatbread, pasta specials, and Wednesday night date night that includes half off bottles of wine. Wine choices are really good, including some amazing small batch vintages from the heart of Wine Country California. It’s a little far from New London or Mystic, but for residents of Groton or Sub Base, this is a not to miss restaurant with well-made entrees, fast service, and high quality for a reasonable price.

Don’t understand the bad reviews… Love Fireside! The owner Stephanie is always so nice to us when we come in or call. I order fireside for lunch at work and always bring a pizza home during the weekends. Always an amazing experience with Fireside!

I don’t understand the bad reviews! The pizza is delicious. We preordered a larger order for my sons birthday and they gave us a great price and showed up early. I wish we lived closer we would order from them all the time!

Worst Caesar Salad ever made, it was lettuce with burnt croutons. The pizza was marginal at best. Brick oven does NOT equal burnt crust everywhere. Learn to use that brick oven and you may have more business. Don’t waste your time or money!

SOYUMMY! First time and it won’t be the last. I got The Thor on a flatbread and it was absolutely perfect. Their house made flat breads are the perfect thickness to the point where they are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and just enough bread to hold everything together. I also loved that they didn’t overload my sandwich with the ranch dressing they put on it. The portions are also huge! I got a ½ flatbread and ended up only eating ½ of that! Owner and staff are super friendly and on top of everything. Our waitress had refills on drinks ready before we even saw her.

I normally grab their food to go and am never impressed cause it tends to be cold. However, today I ate inside and oh man was my view changed. The Devils tower sandwich was yummy as can be and the sweet potato fries were on point. My boyfriend had the half dome sandwich and the bbq sauce was superb. Does that come bottled? We will be back. Yummy!

Stopped here today with a group of co workers. I order a ¼ flatbread half dome(chicken, bbq sauce, bacon, onions, and cheese). I wasn’t crazy about the bbq sauce because it was watery but everything else was good. Some of my co workers pizzas looked good others didn’t. Everybody did say it was one of the best pizzas. Wished they offered smaller sizes because IMO12 inches is too big for lunch. Really wished they offered an 8 or 10 inch personal pizza for lunch. Prices were a bit high too for the amount of food you received when compared to other similar restaurants. Would give 3.5 stars if I could.

We moved to the area about a year ago. In that time, we have tried a lot of pizza, by far, Fireside has been the best. We had the Old Faithful and the Rocky Mountain. The crust was perfect and the vegetables were fresh. We will definitely be going back.
