Horrible service since there’s only 1 waitress. Food is pretty good but not amazing. All phos are filled with MSG. $ 8.95 seafood phở and $ 8.95 special vermicelli.

Galveston doesn’t have much in terms of Vietnamese food, especially compared to Houston so I’m glad to see that a great Vietnamese restaurant has finally arrived! My favorite item on their menu was their banh mi. It’s served hot with grilled meats instead of the more traditional cold cuts which I really like. The bread is also incredibly light and crunchy. Their phở has a nice meaty broth that has a nice balance and can give some of the more popular phở spots in Houston a run for their money. I also really enjoyed their bo luc lac(aka shaky beef) which was nice and tender and would be my suggested go-to dish if you are craving something savory. Sure, they may to be the cheapest Viet restaurant but they don’t have much(if any) competition in the area and I believe that their prices are fair for what they offer.

Delicious and fresh and albeit a small menu, everything is delicious and they don’t do more than they can handle. Everything is always full of vegetables and delicious with a great flavor. I’ve been going here for years and the owners are friendly and locals.

Excellent food! The Bo Luc Lac is AWESOME. The Phở is FANTASTIC. The Banh mi is next level DANKNESS. Their vegetarian option for this dish(tofu) is probably the ONLY vegetarian thing I will ever eat in my life with a smile on my face. I’ve been eating Vietnamese food for over 20 years, and even been graced to consume the pleasures in the homeland itself. This food rocks my socks and makes me wonder about what I have been consuming in my life. I have grown up on the asian-food scene so I understand the obsession over the food. Take your time to really ask about the food and you’ll have a great time.

So we drove down to Galveston last month planning on having lunch in Houston. But Houston being the PITA it is, we opted to drive on to Galveston and have lunch there. We had a place in mind on Post Office street, but we couldn’t get a parking spot anywhere close by. So we started weighing our options. We almost always have Phở when we’re in Austin, and I remembered reading about Phở Tai in Galvestion, and it was right there on the corner, so in we went.(What a stroke of luck!) Ordinarily, I’d have to try a place a few times before considering writing a Unilocal review, but the lunch we had here was so exceptional, I’m making the exception.(ahem…) It was a little after 1:00 and they still had about 20 people inside eating. They were busy enough to give me high hopes, and we were not disappointed. We ordered Spring Rolls(Amazing) Fresh Rolls,(Bonzer!) and a couple of bowls of some of the best Phở we’re ever enjoyed.(Really) We didn’t get to watch what was going on in the kitchen, but I’m sure our Fresh Rolls didn’t exist until we ordered them. Outstanding! The Spring Rolls we’re delicious, and the Phở… I know there’s some of you out there that understand when I say the Phở had layers of flavor. This Phở had it… Wow! If you’er a Phở fan, you owe it to yourself… The owners are really nice folks too! They asked if we lived on the island. I told them if we did, we’d already know each other really well! I can’t wait to go back!!!

I guess being one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in the Galveston area allows phở tai to hike up their banh mi sandwiches. My girl friend and I were visiting galveston looking for a restaurant that served something easy like Vietnamese sandwiches for lunch since we had to order 10 for her family back at the vacation house. Those sandwiches were $ 4.75 each and the options weren’t anything special. It was an option of beef, chicken and tofu. I give this place 3 stars for the price point. If this were Houston, they’d lose a lot of business charging that much for Vietnamese sandwiches since the average price is around $ 2.50 and those restaurants offer a variety of options including a combination. Phở Tai just serves it with jalapeños, matchstick carrot sticks and cilantro. They were definitely tasty but I think it’s because of all the butter they slather on the bread. They also skimped on the meat in the sandwiches. We even asked the cashier if they would do a buy 10, get 1 or 2 free because you’ll see that in Houston but unfortunately he laughed and said no they wouldn’t do it. Was it worth spending over $ 60 for 12 sandwiches? No. I could have gotten double back in Houston for that price and for better quality.
