It is quiet, the pata negra is a must have, the waitstaff are great, the bone marrow is good and the portions are bigger than what you’d get in the city. Will return.

A hidden gem in the heart of Garden City. I am in love with wine bars but never thought I would find my spot on Long Island. We were looking for a place to have a glass of wine on a Tuesday night and we ended up going to Plancha because of the reviews it had. What makes Plancha different than al the other wine bars is their very authentic tapas and of course the fact that they prepare everything in front of your eyes, since the place doesn’t have a «kitchen». Try the anchovies with mascarpone cheese and of course their meat and cheese platter with warm olives.

Was craving tapas so I looked this place up on Unilocal.Small, long and narrow place on Franklin St. Blink and you’ll miss it when driving by. There is no kitchen. All the magic happens in front of you(if you sit at the bar). Great choice of wines by the glass or bottle. Perfect date night spot. Share the Spanish board with the house Tempranillo. Sabroso!

I love this place! I am a huge fan of wine bars and Salumi, their sister restaurant, is one of my fav so I figured I would like this place. It is actually awesome because it is the same menu and the same tapas selection and drink selection. We got the Italian board, scallops, meat sausage, peppers, burrata and the fingerling potatoes and I have to say every single thing was delicious! Lots of flavor and fresh ingredients. My fav though was definitely the scallops! Just amazing! And tons of options to choose from with a friendly staff. Everyone should check this place out!

Plancha is my go to spot for wine and tapas. I always opt for a spanish or italian cheese board and then 2 or 3 tapas. And that is more than enough for 2 people. It’s nice to sit at the bar and watch the chefs as they create these tasty dishes. I had my favorite dish here in the fall. It was a pumpkin barley risotto. I believe the menu changes seasonally, so I can’t wait till this is back on the menu. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Good music, dim lighting. Its great for a date night or to catch up with an old friend. Gets a bit crowded, especially on the weekends. Be sure to get there before the dinner crowd if you don’t want to wait.

Food was really good. Of course small plates but you get to try a little of everything. Service is a little slow but the food was great.

Was in Long Island visiting friends and was pleasantly surprised to find this place. It’s very cozy so you probably want to get in early. By the time we left, there were lots of people waiting to be seated. Here’s what we ordered. Started with the pick 5 meat and cheese board. They have a great selection and everything we ordered was good. Comes with grapes and a jam. Personal favorites were probably the hot chorizo and pecorino. Brussel sprouts: a lot of places serve brussel sprouts but shave it. This place has them whole which I liked. Cooked to a nice tender bite but still with a good crunch. But what made this was everything on top. Cheese, picked onion, cilantro, and a white sauce. It was creamy, tangy, and delicious. We started with one order and ended up ordering it 3 times. I highly suggest this one even if you don’t like brussel sprouts. Patatas bravas: I had this dish in Spain this summer so I had high expectations. It was pretty good. Well seasoned and sauces were good. One thing I realized is that this particular dish is different everywhere you go, even in Spain. Planchas’ version was good. If you like fries, this is an obvious winner. The next two were surprisingly good. Pulpo: I usually don’t like octopus and hardly ever order it but since the party wanted to try it, I gave it a taste and it was good. Wasn’t rubbery at all. Really tender and cooked so well. It was served with a purée(sorry, don’t remember what) and it was just really tasty. Definitely try this one! Bone marrow: this is another thing I usually stay away from at restaurants because while I’ve had really good marrow, I’ve also had really bad ones. To me, it’s not worth the risk. But again, the party wanted it so I gave it a try. It was made well. Seasoned well. Served with an onion jam and bread. It was great. The only thing is I wish the bread was toasted and served warm. Service was excellent. Our server was always checking on us, she made great suggestions, and knew the menu well. My friends and I had a great time here and I plan to go back the next time I’m in NY.

Definitely enjoyed my time at Plancha. Only downside was that the server at the time, I think, didn’t know how to service wine properly. We chose two wine bottles, and didn’t like the taste of one, and preferred two bottles of the other kind instead. However, she wouldn’t let us do that and we ultimately ended up giving the other wine bottle to the half of the room that didn’t mind the taste. Oh, she also spilled the wine as she was pouring. :( Food was great. Meat & cheese board — on point. For tapas, we got the bone marrow, lamb sirloin, beef sausages, pork belly sandwich, brussel sprouts, and the duck. I’d say i enjoyed every plate overall. I just thought the duck was perhaps a bit overcooked and, as a result, was a chewy. A few of my friends thought the dishes were a bit on the salty end, but it personally didn’t bother me. If you’re looking for a wine & tapas spot in the queens/long island area, plan cha dinner at this spot. :) Definitely get a meat & cheese board if you have a party of 3 – 4. I’d say the board paired with 5 – 6 tapas would hit the spot. My top 3 tapas plates out of the 6 mentioned above? Brussel sprouts, pork belly sandwich, and the bone marrow(beef sausage would be a close 4th).

Ok ok okay. I’m back and I’m in loooove with Plancha. No I’m not kidding I’m really REALLY in love with Plancha. I will preface this review by letting you know it’s a rainy yet rather warm evening 2 nights before Christmas. And I don’t mean a little bit of rain. I’m talking buckets upon buckets of rain. It just keeps coming down but that didn’t stop us from getting some delicious eats tonight. Anyway… back to the review shall we? Tonight we had the following: Custom Meat & Cheese Board: with Hot Chorizo(my favorite meat! Just enough zip to get me started woohoo), Serrano Ham & Truffle Cheese(you can never go wrong with truffle cheese). Also Caper Berries. If you’ve never had one they are salty and oh so delightful. Yes. I love Caper Berries. Patatas Bravas: Yeah I’ve already reviewed these. Still damn good with that cumin aioli damn it. Scallops: I forget what they had with it as I was getting pretty full. But I will tell you this… they were cooked perfectly. Last but certainly not least… Bone Marrow. There have been moments in my life where I have been absolutely speechless and this was now the 2nd time this dish literally made me speechless and just dance and sing a little. Yep. It’s that good. I never thought I’d love bone marrow as much as I do but I do! It is insane! Off the charts crazy good! Oh and I almost forgot about my Pincho I had with my Happy Hour glass of Riesling. That little bad boy was good too. I also got a sampling of the Brussel Sprouts. Now if it were up to me now? I think I would’ve gotten the Brussel Sprouts instead of the Potatoes. Yep. I love me some Brussels! Will I be back? Oh hell yeahhhhh! Service was great as always(as one of the girls said«we’re just one big happy family»). Thanks Plancha for another epic meal.

Great friendly service, nice rustic décor, good food. Tapas: Patatas bravas — flavorful and crunchy, not the biggest fan of the two dips provided on their own, tasted better when mixed Cebada — yum! unique dish, like a risotto but with barley, I liked the chew of the barley a lot, pumpkin was light and not overpowering, hazelnuts were interesting texture addition Pork Belly Kimchi Sandwich — my fav part of the meal, can’t go wrong with pork belly, this one was almost al dente(?) in texture which I loved, gave it more bite, great punchy flavors Proscuitto and Manchego Cheese Toast — pretty good, actually really tasty, maybe priced I titch high for what it is though Drinks: Bloody Mary — homemade mix, really good, came with 3 olives :) Overall: Great lunch experience in the area, would def come back to try out dinner options. Love the interior feel.

I’m in love and her name is Plancha. It took Lee M and I way way way too long to finally make it over there. A collection of our favorite Tapas foods and a great variety of delicious wines and beers make for a place that I can see soon becoming a favorite. Friday HappyHour couldn’t come soon enough and I found myself frequently pouring over the Unilocal photos in anticipation of what to order. I knew that the Pulpo was going to be a definite. As was the Bone Marrow for Lee. And I was wooed by the dynamite looking boards and extensive wine list that. Covered the entire back of the poster sized menu. Arriving a wee bit ahead of our Unilocal friends Mike S and Vicki, We easily found seats at the long wood bar that offered a full show of the staff preparing for the soon to be busy night ahead. I had a delicious glass of Granache and Lee a Riverhorse Belgian triple. With each drink you are entitled to a Pincho(sp??) which is an ornate cocktail spear of spicy chorizo and grilled octopus… I could just eat these with wine and call it a day. The room is dimly lit, warm and inviting. The music is not especially memorable, but if there was any we liked it. It is early and calm. Our friends arrive and the night begins… we have a few more rounds of drinks, order and before we know it, without even realizing, the entire room is filled. Hushed tones from those at the close and intimate tables. We begin with the Spanish cheese board, a wonderful assortment of meats, cheeses, Marcona almonds, olives, fine bread and some candies fruit. Later, each couple shared the grilled octopus… my favorite. It was perfect. While I can appreciate the bone marrow and it’s decadent fatty goodness, it is not my thing so Lee had all that love to himself. And an interesting smoked anchovies on thick bread with marscapone and I think red onion and capers… as Mike S said, very reminiscent of bagel and lox with that creamy yet smokey, briney pairing. Too full for dessert, I enjoyed watching our friends relish in theirs and had a sip of Lee’s after dinner Sherry… I would have thought it was a port, but OMG… a sweet, rich glass of raisin, prune heavenly love. A great night indeed… we all agreed that we can’t wait to return very, very soon. If you are reading this and trying to decide if Plancha is a nice choice for a date, I can honestly say that love is abundant here in the mood, the drink and food, the staff and it’s bound to be contagious.

In Japan, there is a custom where you never pour your own drink. I like this concept. It is very humanistic. It is a social gesture where your companions recognize your need and helps to fulfill it. I bring this up, because although Plancha(and it’s sister restaurant, Salumi) have been places I wanted to try for so long I never made it here until I was finally invited(to both) by friends. They must have recognized the need to have these places in my life. We arrived around 5:30pm Friday evening during happy hour and grabs some spots at the bar. The place is very quiet with only my friends, fellow Elites Lisa and Lee, are hanging by the bar. We all order various wine and beer HH specials. I like that they are served each in a individual decanter. We look over the menu and decide to order some tapas and a Spanish board. Our sommelier, Andrew recognizes me from my previous nights Salumi visit says hello, takes our order and makes suggestions about the order in which we should have them. Out first is the Spanish board, with a beautiful selection(see photo), but frankly, I only tried a piece of ham, along with some olives since I was a little meat and cheesed out from the night before. My wife and friends quickly made their way through all this deliciousness. As we are working on the board our plates come out — first the Brussel sprouts and the smoked anchovies. Brussel sprouts are golden brown topped with tomatillo salsa, queso fresco, sour cream and cilantro — fantastic. The smoked anchovies served atop rustic bread with mascarpone, capers, onions remind me of a bagel with lox and cream cheese — I love it. Next out we have a couple of orders of the pulpo, tender grilled octopus with chorizo, celery root purée and celery barigoule, which is true to the description and excellent. Finally the marrow bone arrives, which I must admit is a first for me and I just loved the decedent, creamy goodness with the sweetness of the onion jam on toasted bread making it an outrageous combination — so good! Our friends pass on dessert, but since I limited my drinking tonight I felt like I must try the panna cotta, which was bourbon flavored topped with pralines — it was very good. My wife continuing the tradition of needing chocolate whenever she drinks orders this mini chocolate fondue like dessert where you dip toasted salted bread in melted chocolate, which she enjoyed very much. My first time here was a fun party with each of us sampling so many of the extensive items offered here. Next time, I would prefer to come on a less busy night, sit at the bar, and allow Andrew(or another expert working the bar) guide the show with a few food and wine pairings. If you are like me and have been wanting to try this place or never heard about it before then, in keeping with the Japanese tradition comparison I mentioned earlier, allow me to invite you here. Plancha(or it’s sister Salumi in Massapequa) is simply incredible and probably something you need in your life as well.

I LOVE this place! Everything from the atmosphere to the food and drinks are top notch! The menu changes every once in a while and is consistently good. Same goes with the wine lists which is greta bc the list ranges from inexpensive to expensive so no matter what your budget is you can get a great bottle to enjoy with dinner. The staff is always friendly and helpful with recommendations and suggestions, just ask. The atmosphere is very cozy and rustic which i personally love. So food wise, the following are some of my favorites. The meat and cheese boards are to die for(my personal favorite is the spanish board), you cannot go wrong with their burrata that just simply melts in your mouth. The anchovy toasts are too good, and the shishito peppers are amazing and come with a delicious dipping sauce. the bocadillo is amazing, honestly running down what I’ve had, it’d be easier to mention things I haven’t liked which is nothing. If you’re looking for a low key place to grab a romantic tapas style dinner search no more. You will be coming back time and time again.

Came here a few nights ago and had such a great experience… After popping into novita one night, I had seen this place a while back and knew I wanted to come visit after peeping the reviews… The eats were: the scallops, the octopus, and a panini… The scallops were excellent– juicy and tender and decent in size laying on top of this corn and nut mix… I remember taking my first bite of the mixture and being confused hahaha but it was SO good. It was a nice crunchy component with the scallops, I highly recommend… The octopus was also delicious, however, the serving was SO small! I wanted more! I know I know… Tapas=small plates lol but still… It was like 3 or 4 little taste size bites. Tasted great though… And a friend ordered the panini which was full of cured meats and cheeses and was huge! So that was a win… The place is very intimate, perfect for a date or party of 4−6… I would come here again. I had a nice bottle of some Spanish wine and the name is totally escaping me right now… Ask for the waiters suggestion

3.5 stars! The scallops tapa here was pretty good. The scallops were cooked very well, juicy and delicious! On the other hand though, the purée beneath it wasn’t that great. The bone marrow order we had seemed kind of small and the sauce with it… let’s just say I’ve never been a fan of onions. It was quite delicious though if you’re a fan of fatty, slimy texture(which I am). The italian board was probably the best of the night with the variety of meats, cheeses, olives, nuts, bread, and jam. My friends and I enjoyed the jam a lot. I wasn’t a big fan of the cheeses but to each their own since they’re either dry or too wet but quite pungent nonetheless. It’s worth trying and I’d maybe go back to try their other tapas.

Holy moley, what a nice place! Once again, I get all pissy because a place of this caliper would do phenomenon in Suffolk county. I walk in on a rainy evening. The place isn’t too busy and I sit by the bar. I’m studying the menu like a hawk, lots of amazing cheese and meats. I’m feeling Spanish everything so I ordered a glass of Tempranillo with a 5 meat & cheese plate. Holy moley what came out to me would have fed 3 people! And the bread, coated with a drizzle of olive oil made everything the more savory. On the meat side I ordered the Serrano ham. When I was a teenager, I was in Spain and I stopped into a tapas bar. Being a kid from Long Island, I was exposed to egg sandwiches and a good slice of pizza. What was proudly on display was a hoof. And these folks were shaving the hoof for slices of meat. What this meat was, the best ham in all of Spain. Serrano ham is a serious ham, its not like Boars Head! It’s a salty and tender piece of cured ham. I ordered Serrano ham as well as Felino Salumi from good ol’ St. Louis, Missouri. For the cheese I ordered a Spanish manchego cheese, another Spanish cheese called garrotxa and finally a cheese from Denmark called Blue Costello. This cheese had me crying, it was so good! It was soft brie with a nice slightly tangy, mildly pungent like finish. I also tried, a caperberry? What type of science is being served here? It was salty like a caper but larger with seeds inside. Made for a great finish. What an amazing place in Garden City, I’m a total fan and can not wait to try the bone marrow!

So I really, really love Salumi Tapas and Wine Bar in Massapequa and figured I’d try Plancha seeing as they’re owned by the same people. It’s literally identical — from ambiance to set up to menu to presentation of the food and wine. The only major difference between the two is the service. They have always been very nice, attentive, and don’t really do anything wrong, but not comparable to Salumi. They don’t give off that welcoming-come sit and chat for hours over wine and tapas, like they do at Salumi and other wine bars. Nevertheless, I’ve always had a very, very nice time at Plancha’s. We’ve always ordered wine by the glass and a meat and cheese board to share. They have 3 pre-built boards(Spanish, Italian, and mixed cheese) or you can assemble your own, picking 3 or 5 meats/cheeses. I’ve tried both the Spanish and Italian board and they’re both HUGE, amazing, and beautifully presented with almonds, jam, caperberries, olives, raisins, and bread. I do recommend the Spanish board over the Italian board but they are both delicious. I’ve only tried a few dishes from the tapas menu because the meat and cheese boards are SO filling but the duck was really very good. Really tender and well made. Location wise, Plancha’s is more convenient for me compared to Salumi so I come here more often.

Last Saturday was a very quiet night and a beautiful summer night. We arrived at 9 pm and Plancha was busy in its own laid back way, particularily since it is in Garden City. We were greeted by Josh, a friendly and knowledgable asset. The vibe is comfortable with a funky décor… low lighting, good music and then comes the food. We ordered a bottle of a reasonable red blend that was terrific and went well with our food choices. We wanted to do a cheese and meat board and asked Josh to put something together for us that would be the best combination of all that was available… While that was being prepared we had two tapas; Pulpo which was tender and tasty and the Duck which was wonderful! crisp skin and tender juicy duck meat… really enjoyed both. When the board arrived it looked outstanding with Serrano ham, Chorizo and Capicolla, an Italian meat… all 3 were wonderful. The cheeses were incredible; a goat cheese which was creamy, rich in flavor and went great with a piece of the meat on the wonderful served bread coated with olive oil. A Truffle cheese full of flavor and an Italian cheese whose name I cant recall but everything was delicious and left us full, but wanting more. We cant wait to return to revisit the wonderful food and ambiance offered by this hidden Gem on fancy Garden Cities Franklin Ave. And let me commend them on the wonderful friendly service we received from the incredible staff.

This place is pretty awesome. You get all the great tapas foods without the crazy prices and the service is superb. It’s a small and long restaurant with moderate amount of seating(we came Friday night and had to sit at the bar, which is totally fine). Lots of people were waiting to get a seat, it’s very popular for date night! We tried a few tapas and all were very good! My favorites were the meat and cheese board and the bone marrow! Everything was so fresh and the fig jam on the meat and cheese board was outstanding. The bone marrow was amazing, it spread like soft butter and it was juicy, exploding with flavor. While sitting at the bar, we were watching all the chefs do their thing and everything they cooked, we wanted(if only we could eat it all!!) this place is a keeper, will return again!
