Let me start by saying I never write reviews. But I felt liked I needed to because this place seems to be somewhat of a hole in the wall. The first time I came here(January 2014) I was a little skeptical because no one was here. But we went in anyway– and LOVEDIT! I have been back 5 times now and I am never disappointed. The food is served in tapas form and is easily shared among a couple. We usually order 4 – 5 different things to share. The menu seems to change frequently so we have had an assortment of different things– and everything we have ordered has been sooo good! The only complaint I have is that the portions are a bit small for the price you pay. But it is worth it. Yum.

Not a fan of this place. Poor service, food took forever to come out, small portions and expensive prices. I wouldn’t return.

Yuck. everything was cold and straight from a packet. Nothing tasted in the least bit Spanish. It might has well been from the supermarket.

Small, quaint, intimate atmosphere. Spanish music going. Great attention from your waitress. Plates are extremely on the small side so this is only good for a time that you are in the mood for tapas only not large plates. Seasoned well but very small portions.

I would of gave 3 stars if me and my boyfriend weren’t so sick right now. 2 stars get knocked off for the rudest server I’ve ever had in my life. The guy was rude and nasty. I’ve been in the restaurant business for 7 years and go out to eat all the time and NEVER in my life have I experienced such a rude unwelcoming waiter before. If he was the owner that place is in trouble. Food was really good but we got a little sick a few hours later, i honestly think it was the ropa veja. I don’t know why that’s a popular dish. It’s shredded steak and kind of tasted like dog food. We also got empanadas. The beef ones were good but the chicken empanadas were sketchy. The chicken quesadillas were delicious and they probably have the best guacamole in town. I just can’t get over how rude the server was, I called I made a reservation for 630 I told them I had a groupon and than at the end he gave me an attitude for not telling him I had a groupon when I did. The people behind me tried to buy a groupon while they were there and he made up some story that it wouldn’t come to their computer until tomorrow and they even said he was lying, which he was. I have bought many groupons and have used them the same day. I didn’t like their sangria and I don’t know what the rave about it is. It’s only wine, ice and fruit. He said no one has even complained about the sangria before and I said well I don’t like it And apologized but it’s not really a sangria. He had a really nasty attitude and I still can’t get over how rude this guy was. It defiantly reflected his tip, especially being a server myself. I will never ever ever be back here because I honestly don’t want to be served by a rude unwelcoming grumpy man. There is a lot better Spanish food in town. You would think they would be nicer here since the restaurant was empty but now we know why it was empty.

Food was great, shrimp wrapped with bacon, skirt steak(portioned), paella is probably the best portion. White sangria was also good.

I’d say this restaurant was good, not great, and probably won’t be back for a meal. We came because we received a gift certificate. We made a reservation but when we arrived all the tables in the back were taken. They seated is at high tables next to the bar and door. Being mid February, every time someone walked in we got a gust of freezing air, which I didn’t like at all. The wine we ordered was $ 30/bottle and was delicious! We also ordered the bruschetta, steak quesadillas, and Cubano sandwich. However the only thing we enjoyed was the bruschetta, which was absolutely delicious! The other 2 were mediocre, at best. The service was great and staff was friendly, excellently prices. but I could really only see myself coming back to have a drink and bruschetta to use up the rest of the gift card.

I originally came to Sangre de Uva with a groupon. I have been back many many times since and turned my friends onto the place. Over time I’ve sampled nearly every item on the menu. I love the empanadas, mofongo & ropa vieja but have not had a bad dish here. The place is small & quaint. Great for a date. The waiter is fabulous. I don’t recall his name but he waited on me & family & friends every time I visited. Bravo!

Just went here last week with my fiancée for my birthday and loved the food and ambiance. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Our food was delicious. We both absolutely loved the Albondigas which are the beef and pork meatballs. The sauce was so tasty. We also ordered the Churrasco Tapas which was good, I enjoyed be grilled streak with the caramelized onions but I probably would’ve liked more of the meatballs instead. The Mussels and Clams were perfect. We also had the bacon wrapped Jalapeños which are stuffed which cheese, these were Spicy! And yummy! We shared the Tres Leches slice which I didn’t like as much but I don’t really like Tres Leches in general, so I’m probably not the best judge on Tres Leches.

Happened upon the restaurant New Years Day of last year. Wife and I were in the mood for good Spanish food. We ordered rice and beans, tostones, mofongo and the ropa vieja(to go). All were amazing. This year for New Years Day we ate at the restaurant. I again had the mofongo because it is amazing and they do it right. A smaller portion but very filling. I drank a Malbec and my Wife had the Churrasca with a white wine. The wine she loved, the Churrasca was not my favorite but she enjoyed it. They were very accommodating as we had our two year old(very much in the terrible twos). We did find out that he enjoys quesadillas and tostones. As well as plantain chips. Service was great we were only one of two tables but everyone was very nice. Pics to follow

We walked into the busy restaurant on a Saturday night and were warmly welcomed by the woman standing behind the bar. She let us know the wait was around a half hour and offered for us to temporarily sit at the bar while we waited for a free table. We were a party of 6(3 couples) and one of the couples had raved about the sangria and food. They were not lying! While at the bar, we shared a pitcher of sangria and two orders of Yuca Frita with lemon aioli sauce to dip. It was the best I’ve ever had! It wasn’t dry and stringy like I’ve had elsewhere. When we were seated and reviewing the menu, everything looked so good! We decided to get one of everything on the left side of the menu(minus the quesadillas and ham croquettes) in addition to the bacon wrapped shrimp, bruschetta and grilled octopus. Yes, we ordered 15 tapas… And they were all FABULOUS! I loved everything that was brought to the table. I truly cannot say one bad thing about anything we ordered. We were ready to leave, but someone mentioned dessert, so we decided to order 1 of everything again. Go big or go home! LOL Once again, we did not regret our decision and every dessert was made perfectly! Our waiter, Luis, was professional and genuinely kind. We loved his smile and how he brought out the tapas 2 – 3 at a time so we could enjoy it all and not feel rushed. Overall, we were so pleased with our experience and will return soon!

So happy we came here! Our new favorite! We started with the shrimp wrapped in bacon which was suggested by our attentive and friendly waiter — absolutely scrumptious. Next we had the grilled octopus — delicious and refreshing. We sipped home made red sangria which was the right mix of sweetness and citrus. The music transported us to Spain. Next we had skirt steak which was not too over powering and transitioned us for the bacon wrapped jalapeños which were awesome. We were so pleased with our culinary experience we ordered beef empanadas and chicken quesadillas. These were a nice satisfying and familiar finish to our most outstanding meal. We cannot wait to come back and try new dishes along with the ones we really loved. There are not enough adjectives to describe such a positive experience!!!

Stopped in here randomly while meeting a friend who was here visiting for the holidays. I parked my car close by and just kinda walked in. It was empty but that’s fine by me– because I like empty lol Nice little place, relaxing atmosphere, low lighting. Pretty cool. The owner or manager came over and he was very nice. Very accommodating. My friend and I ordered a little dish of chips and guacamole to start which were very tasty. We ended up ordering two dishes and split them between us so we could taste a little of two things. We ordered the meatballs and the churrasco. Followed by a lava cake for dessert. I gotta say the meatballs were freaking delicious! But I wasn’t a fan of the steak. It had a lot of fatty meat on it and we weren’t even sure if it was churrasco. I’m under the impression that that type of meat isn’t supposed to have much fatty pieces attached to it and it did. Plus the sauce tasted sorta like a bbq sauce which was strange. Wasn’t expecting that. It was ok– I ended up cutting off a lot of the fatty pieces from the steak which didn’t leave me with much meat. The lava cake was awesome though! Perfect size too. Oh and speaking of size– the dinner portions were very small– even for me. I did Unilocal some photos of the food that people posted and the portions looked bigger on film I guess. But overall– it was a good place. I’d go back and perhaps try another dish.

This restaurant has a very cozy feel, and a nice ambience; which is something I look for in a good restaurant. The service is pretty solid, and the staff, friendly. I’ve been here twice and the food was absolutely delicious both times. If you go, you must try the chorizo, it is out of this world! All the meals I’ve had here so far have been very good, but that one stands out the most. Portions are fair, but I prefer that as I don’t like leaving a restaurant feeling bloated. Definitely a place I’d recommend, as you will not be disappointed.

Losing its luster. Service still great, food lackluster. Served Chorizo that was gray and extremely unappealing to put on a plate. Portions too small for the prices, at least some items. Basically i have seen and had much better here previously, i hope this is not a sign of the future.

I like Sangre de Uva because the appetizers are perfectly portioned and the food is very flavorful. One of my favorite things to order here is the Sangria. :) It is too good.

Alright, so since I started coming here last February(it’s now mid November) I must’ve returned at least 40 times. Yes… that many. I make it a point to stop in once a week, some weeks it’s two or three. Sometimes I go in thinking I’m just stopping in for a glass of wine or two before heading home after work but that was successful two times at the most. I ALWAYS end up eating and I’ve literally had just about everything on the menu more than once, so here’s the rundown along with marks for how often I tend to order them. 1 * being once in a blue moon, 2 ** being here and there 3 *** being somewhat often. Remember I switch up a lot, so if I order something often, it’s a real winner. No stars means I’ve only had it once or it’s new. Cabra Salad– Had it last night for the first time(I’m not one to pay money for salads). I’ll be ordering it much more often. The crasins have a great sweetness with the guava vinaigrette, the almonds add a nice neutrality as well as contrasting texture, and, oh lord, throw in those goat cheese croquettes and it’s a win. Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos***- This is sheer crack. Crack crackety crack crack. I dream of it. 3 jumbo jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and chorizo, wrapped in bacon, swimming in apple cider reduction. BLISS!!! Sweet corn and black bean salsa– New to the menu and divine. Comes with three different kinds of chips. This is perfect for ordering immediately to wet your appetite while you browse the menu and plan your attack. LOVE this.(will be a 3 star for sure) Cubano*- Crazy good. Perfect if you add hot sauce to the bbq, but I do that with virtually everything. Haven’t you read my other reviews? Pfft!!! But since this is a sandwich, it’s a bit more filling, which is the only reason I don’t order it often. I like to order 3 or 4 dishes. Maybe they should offer a half order? WINKWINK!!! Empanadas***- It took me about 6 months before I tried these. I thought,“Empanadas. Whatever.” I was wrong. Put this in the crack shack with the bacon wrapped jalapenos. These make the world disappear and all of existence is you and these empanadas. Chorizo**- Things that make ya go MMMMMMM!!! Churrasco**- skirt steak, caramelized onion, goat cheese, sliced baguette. Makes me think of a latino steak tidbits… kind of. Damn good!!! But in espanol. So damn bueno! Shrimp and crab ceviche***- on it’s own it’s incredibly light and flavorful and comforting. But I’m a lunatic so I add black pepper and hot sauce. Lump crab cakes– these won me over and I’m not even huge on crab cakes. Mussels*- delicious. I mean, duh. Berenjena***- another dish I waited too long to try. Great contrast of texture, great salty parmesany crust, I just love this dish. Quesadilla**- staying with the«waited too long to try» theme. I have intention of one day ordering about 5 of these and taking them home to eat on my couch to a movie in private where no one can see the slob level that will ensue. Another dish that is GREAT on it’s own, but I ask for a side of sour cream, extra hot sauce, and angels descend from the sky and give me hugs. Pinchitos de Puerco**- Pork skewers. One more dish I think is great for wetting the apettite. Salmon filet-** reeeally good dish and also very citrusy, which of course makes me want to add heat, but via chili flakes instead of hot sauce. Without the heat this is definitely considered comforting. You also get a few sliced baguettes. Playing with your food is fun! Blackened chicken– had it once, wasn’t my thing. The chicken itself was good, I’m just not big on mango, especially mango salsa, and I’m not totally big on sweet, so, this dish and I don’t get along. From hanging out there, though, everyone else seems to love it. Actually, one of the more popular dishes. So sue me! Not EVERYbody has to like you, mango!!! Mofongo– I shouldn’t even comment on this. I had it only once, and I recall loving it, but I don’t remember why because I was drunk. I haven’t ordered it again, yet, because like the Cubano, it’s filling. Season pork and garlic with mojito salsa over fried and mashed plantains. Yeah, ok, so that’s probably why I liked it. What you see above is why I love this place so much. I never know what I’m going to order when I go there, but it’s always delicious and I always get great variety. I have my favorites that I order frequently but because it’s more tapas style I can always throw in different dishes while still sticking to my faves, all the while slurping wine. Oh, and Wednesdays bottles are half off when you eat there. SCORE!!! Note that due to their location they’re not allowed to serve liquor. Only beer and wine. So forget your grey goose and cranberry(pfft), drink some wine, eat a slew of dishes and enjoy the music de latino. I doubt I said that right, I don’t speak Spanish… and my English is questionable at breast.
