Strawberries are the taste of June bursting in your mouth. Here’s a hint: the smaller strawberries are often redder, sweeter and juicier than the giants that have become standard in 2012’s supermarkets and roadside stands. You can get a 3-pack at Bunya Farms for $ 6. The 3-packs of giant strawberries run about $ 9 currently. Yes at Bunya Farms you can also get the giant hybrids, and they tend to taste just like all the other giant strawberries — so-so, and a bit bland. That’s because the bigger the berry, the longer it takes to ripen, and it tends not to ripen evenly from tip to stem. Ever hull a strawberry and notice that the«shoulders» are almost white while the tip is medium red? That’s a typical giant strawberry for ya. They’re picked and sold prematurely because by the time they’re fully ripe, the tips are getting mushy. Mushy doesn’t sell. Bunya Farms is one of the few places left that still does sell the smaller, redder, sweeter berries if you ask for them. I don’t know the technical term for these, except to ask for«the smaller ones». You will not be sorry you did! One bite and you’ll remember that this is how strawberries all used to taste, before the giants invaded and made insipid flavor the norm. Giant strawberries still have their place in our house: I use them to make jams, smoothies, and syrups. The sugar in those recipes makes up for the lack of sugar in the berries. But for fresh eating, we always get the small ones.

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Chino Hills, CA
Yes, its Garden Grove’s only remaining Strawberry Farm nestled on the intersection of Euclid and Hazard. For a city with a Strawberry Festival every year, Bunya Farms is an important piece of Garden Grove. Their strawberries are delicious, and the more you buy, the more economical the price. Overall, they may not be as cheap as Supermarket strawberries that may be imported from Mexico. However, the quality is quality of strawberry is generally better than your Supermarket variety and the storage life is longer, as there are freshly picked. Definitely a good place to stop by for Strawberries if you live in the Garden Grove/Santa Ana area.

Évaluation du lieu : 4 Orange County, CA
Nestled on the northwest corner of Hazard and Euclid, you’ll find an operation that takes you back to the days of yore when Orange County was primarily farm land. Bunya Farms isn’t very big, occupying the area of a neighborhood block, but they’re still there. Sitting on the corner sits their grocery stand offering freshly grown veggies, fruits, and loads of what most people go there for: strawberries. While not cheap, they have a beautiful deep red color and a sweet tasty juiciness about them. The stand is only open on weekends so we try and pop by whenever our activities have us in the area. Besides, how often do you get to see something like this in the suburban jungles of tract homes and strip malls that Orange County has become?
