I think it’s a bit over priced for me in comparison to the quality of sushi that I ate. Two dollars for a Luke warm bowl of miso soup is not what I want. But their service was great, very quick to refill our drinks and take our orders. Surprisingly it was quick packed and busy on a Friday lunch.

I’ve been to a couple of revolving sushi restaurants and this is the biggest I’ve been to. Aside from the not so great parking, the place is lovely. It’s big and open. We were seated immediately along with a Japanese welcome. Upon sitting at a table we immediately had eye contact with the table beside us, on the other side of the conveyor belt. THEYDON’T have a divider. Prepare for awkward eye contact if you sit at a booth/table rather than the bar. I’m so used to hole-in-the-wall revolving sushi bars that this place surprised me. It’s very big with tons of choices. I’m very used to limited options or missing out on my fave because it’s gone before it reaches me. I didn’t have to worry about that here. Another thing, if you’re used to one plate equals $ 2, here it’s a certain plate equals a certain price. I think their portions are very reasonable for their price. The place is very clean and the energy is light and cheery. I would recommend this to anyone who is out in this area looking for sushi !(・・)ノ

Yuck! If you are a «real sushi» eater this is basically the McDonald’s of sushi. My rating is based only on the food. The service was good. We left after trying two things and went to eat pizza

Love their chicken karage but they keep changing when their last call is which is super annoying. Give me my chicken!

The Sushi and spicy teriyaki bowl are ok but, definitely not family friendly. I’m here with coworkers for lunch and they’re playing uncensored rap/r&b. Apparently it’s normal as the employees don’t seem phased at all by all the curse words. We’ve been here for almost an hour now. I know we’re in Gardena but, really?

So a friend of mine brought me here one Saturday afternoon. We were greeted with top 40 music and, a conveyor belt of sushi delights. The food was great, the service was pretty good but then we got handed these«3 times usable coupon» cards. The idea of these cards is pretty good except for one small thing, they don’t honor what they say which is a HUGE– No, No in any business. The coupon says, «20% off your 1st visit.» So naturally I tried to use it on my first visit but our waiter said,“No, you can start using it on your second visit.” OK, WTF? Don’t hand me a coupon if you only honor it when you want, not when the coupon says. I don’t feel like I’ll go out of my way to come back here unless of course, the meal is free.

Had to speak to 4 different waiters before we finally received the 3 plates we ordered at the beginning of our meal. The music in here is too loud, it ruins the atmosphere. It would be great if there could be a water pitcher left at the tables.

Gatten Sushi is an interesting experience, as probably the second revolving sushi bar in the area(behind Kula). You can be seated at the bar or a booth, and sushi will continuously rotate around a belt, customers can proceed to choose whatever he/she would like to eat and the price is pooled at the end per plate. Certain plates have certain prices, but I would highly recommend trying their crunch rolls and some of their specialties such as the Gatten roll.

This is probably one of the worst places I’ve ever eaten sushi at. It may be cheap, but it’s not at all quality food. There are flies everywhere and most of the sushi on the rotating belt have been sitting there — you can tell just by looking at it. Additionally, I’m pretty sure this place gave me food poisoning. It only took about an hour and a half before I was tied to the bathroom for the rest of the night.

***this review is based solely on my call in/carry out experience. It does not reflect the dine-in experience*** Gatten Sushi in Gardena is conveniently located on Artesia so it’s a great stop and pick up for when I’m hungry and on my way to work in Torrance. I usually call in the order about 10 min before arrival. I know there’s a lot of people here saying the food isn’t fresh etc. but what do you expect from a rotating sushi bar? I don’t have this issue when I call in my order. I’ve arrived on some occasions where the chef hands my sushi over after just preparing it. I usually get the tiger and dragon roll. They both are delicious and I pay about $ 7.00 for both. Everyone is friendly when you walk in and if I still have to wait a bit for my sushi to be prepared they offer a water. Great service and great food for the price!

Gatten Sushi has always been yummy. It is my first time at this location and I have to say it absolutely sucks. I asked two different people for honey for tea and got two different answers. I was eventually giving a super empty sugar bottle with clumps of dried sugar and a tiny dirty spoon. They also gave me sad mangled slices of lemon. The sushi is okay but the prices are more expensive then other Gatten locations.

The food was tasty. I had the California rolls, the fried chicken, and I tried their shrimp tempura. It was decent, and the atmosphere is very lively which I appreciate. Overall the cleanliness was acceptable and the servers were pleasant. Not a huge fan of sushi but it was a pleasurable experience because of the company I had.

Gatten has a nice environment; welcoming you from the staff! The conveyor belt is a cool concept and the prices are reasonable. I asked how the quality control worked with the conveyors, and each plate has a chip that tells the conveyor when it is time to pull the food off the conveyor when it had sat for too long. I will say that this is not the best sushi I have eaten; not the worst either. Two times ago I felt the food seemed not«fresh.» I don’t mean the food was bad, I mean that it seemed like it was on the conveyor and was not«cooked to order» quality. I decided to give it one more try– and it was the same story. I would recommend Gatten if you want a fun environment and are okay with good, not great sushi.

Perhaps not the best quality sushi but good enough. The place is big, clean and service is good. Prices are just right with some pretty good happy hour specials on beer. Rather disappointed they didn’t have any octopus nigiri when I went and the beef tataki tasted rather sketchy. But the California maki and ebi nigiri were good. $ 4.00 udon is offered along with takoyaki, calamari and other non-rice dishes. A great option for families and an overall fun experience with conveyor sushi.

A fun find in Gardena. Besides the long, snaking conveyor belt of good but inexpensive sushi, the one thing you should know about is their HALFPRICE happy hour that runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. every dang day: Large House Sake: $ 3.50 Sapporo draft: $ 1.75 Sapporo draft pitcher: $ 6.25 So bring our friends, your family, and anyone else who looks thirsty. I might be one of them!

It’s like Kula, except a lil bit more pricy. It wasn’t spectacular or anything, but it wasn’t horrible. I would definitely stop by again for a few plates. The plates varies from 1.50 — 4.75 dollars. Service is quick and friendly. Tragedy of always eating good sushi, regular sushi never satisfies you any more :(

First rotation sushi in the South Bay and it was great when it opened. I recommend getting here during peak hours such as 11:30−1 or 6 – 8 for dinner because during the times in between the rush hour, the chefs limit what goes on the rotation. Also there aren’t too many customers so the food doesn’t start as fresh since they’re going around the whole restaurant for about 30 mins before they’re discarded. If you go during slow hours I recommend that you order straight from the menu. That way, they will make your food fresh and on the spot. The udons are a great value. And when the sushi/sashimi is fresh, they melt in your mouth. Sad that they got rid of the stamp card though. That really makes us customers feel special and repeat our visits to fill up our cards but I guess management decided it was unnecessary.

I visited this nearly 2 years after my initial experience. It’s still a fun friendly place, but to a degree it’s a novelty restaurant. The conveyor belt self service system is fun to watch and in theory sounds like a convenient and efficient idea, but in execution it’s maybe not the best idea. First off, it’s priced okay, not cheap if you have an appetite, so if you went to an AYCE place like Midori, you’d pay a lot less for a lot more. On avg., I’d say a person could pick up 5 – 10 plates and be satisfied, so that’s about $ 20 – 40 per person after tax and tip(yeah, even ‘tho you serve yourself essentially you still should tip ‘cuz the Sushi chefs and wait staff are still providing a service). Most of the sushi is good, not necessarily great, with the cuts of fish sometimes being on the thinner quantity side. You’ll often see the same sushi rotating around unwanted going round and round and round. It would be interesting if they marked down those after a while so they don’t go bad or to waste. The place is busy and popular, to the degree sometimes the sushi bar seating isn’t optimized in that we were waiting for about 20 minutes for«any /1st available either bar or table» seating while there were at least 3 areas with 2+ seats open, yet they were neglectful in seating us oddly. You’d think since it’s self service, they’d just want to get people in and out. So, in that way I say it wasn’t rude more than unorganized and poor decision making being oblivious to the fact there’s hungry patrons and open seats. The system itself lends itself to easy over ordering /eating, taking trays off the conveyor belt, so your bill can easily add up to more than you’d planned if you’re not conscious of your own decisions, so be warned. Parking was especially difficult on a weekend night, but not at the fault of Gatten, more of a situation of the entire complex building out and the patrons for all of the businesses taking up spaces. Watch out for the low curbs as you pull in, if your car rides low you’ll clip the pavement and possibly crack and pull out your front bumper in certain areas… trust me, it’s not advice from speculation more than from first hand personal experience :(
