24 years I’m a customer at phở Hong long. Experienced many authentic Vietnamese restaurants but this place is my favorite. They make the best broths, perfect egg rolls, and they give you plenty of noodles. My husband and I have been eating here for years and we can’t eat anywhere else for Vietnamese soups. It’s really the BEST please come and try this place out. Yum yum. Chicken noodle soup is our favorite and egg rolls pork noodles. Ice teas are wonderfully cold and delicious.

Decent place to get Phở at a good price. They have a big menu that includes lots of different fixings for your Phở, tripes, brisket, tendons, etc. I am a tendon lover and it’s always hard to find a restaurant that serves up tendons on the West side so that made me happy. The place feels hole-in-the-wall ish but is very clean, and it’s quite easy to find parking in the little plaza. I agree with the other reviews about their soup being on the greasy side therefore the –1 star. But it’s not so bad for the price. I’d go back.

You like MSG? Then this is your spot. I got a pretty intense headache after venturing to this spot for some phở. Our usual spot, Saigon Dish was closed, so we were left to explore another option, which I don’t mind, except when the food is laced with MSG. The phở was oily and greasier than I like, and the flavor was okay, but I can’t overcome the MSG. It’s a deal breaker for me. The staff is friendly, but nothing else about this place was worth me ever coming back here… not even in a bind. I am always sad when I have to write one of these reviews, but I can’t endorse places that put MSG in their food. The headache afterwards hurts too much. Maybe I can request to have a bowl without the MSG, but I doubt I’ll come back here. Sorry!

I love finding new Phở places to try. Not always the most comforting when you walk into a place and there is no one else there. We ordered out food and then waited, while loud banging noises came from the kitchen. Was starting to get nervous, maybe this wasn’t the best place to pic for phở. Then people started walking in. One after another. Within 5 mins the place was packed. Our food came out and it was awesome! I recommend the medium size, since I think that is the standard size at most places, but the bf got the large and that was a lot of food! We had plenty to take home and it was just as good when we had it later. I want to say that this place seemed a little more greasier than other places, but it was still very flavorful and it definitely hit the spot. Oh and they give you plenty of meat! That’s a huge plus for me!

I used to come here when I was little and this used to be my go-to Phở place in the South Bay. My parents were friends with the owners of this restaurant and growing up, my parents would casually catch up with them every time we stopped by their restaurant to eat. Now, we don’t even bother coming to this place anymore. The problem with this Phở place is how overpriced their food is. $ 10 for a bowl? Jesus Christ. That’s way too much. Plus, they put hella msg in their Phở so by the end of my meal, I would drink so much water to rid of it. A third problem is that they charge for their to-go containers! Like omg who does that? That is beyond ridiculous. If you decided to to-go your order in the first place, I know they will charge you extra for it. Seriously. Don’t come here. Save yourself. Go to OC for better quality food. I think their business has died down tremendously over the years because of their poor quality and service.

Phở is one of my favorite things to eat. I rather spend $ 6 bucks for a bowl of phở for lunch then get fast food any day. The soup here was good, i would come back.

Good spot for a quick bowl of Phở. It was not very busy when I went on a Sunday afternoon but there were enough people to know that it was a good choice. Prices are reasonable but it is CASH only.

The best cure for a hangover… Phở! This place was very easy to find and they open super early! Restaurant is quite spacious. My coworker and I both got a large Phở Dac Biet and a Vietnamese ice coffee. Perfect combo to get your day started right. The broth itself wasn’t too oily and it has a very clear taste to it which was very much appreciated. Bring cash as this place doesn’t accept credit cards!

Was in the mood for something hot on a cold fall night. Phở Hong Long popped in my head for some really tasty phở. This place in really never busy for dinner. The owner and staff there are so nice. We ordered the brisket phở with spring rolls. The spring rolls were nice and meaty. 3 medium sized shrimp lined the top of it. It matched perfectly with the peanut sauce with crushed peanuts in it. This is served cold and is very good. Phở came out shortly after. Hot soup with rice noodles and raw pieces of brisket in it. The boiling hot soup cooked the brisket perfectly. Add thai basil and bean sprouts and that’s it! Awesome! A must visit!

This is actually a 4.5, but I’m rounding up bc this is my all-time favorite phở spot. Their broth is the BEST. I know some people complain it’s not clear, but every time I eat phở with clear broth, the flavor is bland. I don’t care what my broth looks like, as long as it tastes good. Their broth has a richer taste than the other phở places I’ve tried and I’ve tried most of the phở places around South Bay area. I always order the Phở Gau(fatty beef brisket) and if I’m hungry, the eggrolls with their delicious fish sauce(sweeter than the regular salty fish sauce that I’ve bought at the market thinking it was the sweet fish sauce that they serve here). The servers and owners are always friendly. I love that they have the chili oil chili and not just sriracha. I’ve ordered for pickup a couple times and they’re very timely. I had to dock half a star bc I ordered for pickup on Thursday and they didn’t pack their yummy fish sauce to go with the eggrolls! It was disappointing. But that’s literally the one time there was something wrong with my order. CASHONLY.

Once upon a time, I came here with a friend. She invited me to try Vietnamese food. We came here, and henceforth my love for phở grew. Lunch time today, I was craving phở, so I decided to stop by here. It’s been many years since I’ve been to this location, but the food here is still as great as I remember it. I ordered the rare beef phở, in size large. To drink, I had a glass of water and a much needed iced coffee. The phở came with a decent portion of beef, and tons of noodles. As usual, I put a lot of sriracha in it. The iced coffee with a touch of condensed milk was pretty good. Not too sweet, but the right balance of flavor. Customer service was on point. I will be coming back for more.

There are a less than a handful of decent Phở places in the South Bay. I’ve been to Phở Hong Long a few times and I have to say the quality of their Phở has degraded to the point of no return. I ordered my typical bowl of Phở with well done brisket and tendon. When the bowl arrived the broth was mirky, the first bad warning sign of what was to come. Secondly the tendon was not thinly sliced, I got knuckles of tendon. While not one to complain about quantity, in this case quality is preferred. At this point I took my first sip of the broth prior to adding any aromatics or even lime. What a huge disappointment this Phở was, the broth was salty and lacked the aromatic notes that make a bowl of Phở great. The broth must have been punched with MSG and salt, because I had that taste for the rest of the day. I’d say skip this place for Phở if your looking for it, search around the South Bay for the others that have a more refined Phở broth.

I love Phở, and think this is one of the best place that I’ve been to so far. The meats are good, not tough like some other restaurants. Broth is good too, but with all that MSG, I think many places taste similar. Of course, some places are better than others though. Service is fine. What I do not like is that they do not turn on AC. They keep the doors wide open all the time. It’s too hot to eat hot soup without AC during the summer. And cash only like many others…

A couple of friends and I stopped in here for dinner on a rainy weekday night. None of had been here before; we were just looking for a well-rated phở place somewhere between Long Beach and West LA and this seemed to fit the bill. It’s a pretty good-sized place and was clean. It was also all decked out in Christmas stuff and had a particularly annoying motion-sensored Santa that would boom out«Merry Christmas!» and«Ho Ho Ho!» every time someone moved anywhere near it. After about the 20th time we were totally over it, but then a baby started crying nearby and we traded one annoyance for another. Anyhoo, on to the food: We ordered their basic combo phở, and the small bowl was big enough for me, even though I was pretty hungry. It was good, but I can’t say it blew me away. The produce, meat and noodles were all fresh and the broth had a good flavor – it was a perfectly good bowl of phở and hit the spot. The waiter helping us out had limited English but was very friendly and smiley, which is pretty unusual for a place like this, but then again looks like they cater to a largely non-Vietnamese clientele. STEPHJUDGEMENT: Good Phở, nice service, meh décor.

I paid $ 6.50 for a small bowl of average(at best) Phở Tai. Unless you live in the area, there are better options around. Phở Tam up the street is definitely better. I recommend Phở Ever on Rosecrans. It’s far superior in every category, especially the quality of the entire bowl. Plus this is cash only.

Phở Hong Long is now one of my favorite Phở joints. I’ve been here multiple times with friends and each time the Phở was great! First, they give you a choice of 4 sizes — there is a size for everyone. I usually go for the large and it is quite enough for me but in the event that I am super starving I still have the X-Large size to upgrade to! My friends usually go for the small; that size is also not insignificant. They also are not chintzy with the basil and bean sprouts either — there is always plenty to go around and then some! The phở broth is robust and rich with the flavors of all the spices and the meats that makes up this delish meal. Then by the inclusion of the perfectly cooked rice noodles, wow it really makes for a bowl of warm satisfy goodness that puts my stomach in a very comfortable and full place every time. Next time? One of their rice dishes.

Phở is really addicting here… a little too much. I suspect that they are heavy handed with the MSG for many reasons: the flavor, the addicting need to finish the whole bowl, the post-meal incessant yawns that cascaded, & eventually a K.O. headache that needed to be alleviated with ibuprofen & an early night’s slumber. With ALL that said, I’d probably still go back… but I’d go back for their rice dishes and spring rolls. I’m also interested in trying their other dishes. They are generous with their portions too. A medium size phở(small to extra large portions) will sufficiently feed 2 people. Comfortable spot & all the condiments and utensils are already stationed at your table with the exception of napkins I believe. Also, I don’t know if they forgot(because we certainly did until I started writing this review) but the charbroiled pork dish that comes with rice(menu item #36) did not come with a side of chicken soup, which is supposed to come with the main dish.
