The Desert Room

Good small local bar, but service really sucked. The bar was not crowed, drinks were decent price, but the the bar tenders weren’t attentive at all. I waited over 30 mins for another drink and both bartenders pass by and not asked me for another drink. They ended up closing out the bar for drinks, before I can get a third drink. I will not recommend everyone to go to this bar nor will I be going in the future.

This place is a HELL HOLE with people SMOKING AT THE BAR. it’s like a disgusting Fookin stinking time waro. STAY AWAY!!!

I came by this place for their Sunday evening blues jam. I’d never been in there and hadn’t been to a blues jam in a while. I sat down at the bar and a cute bartender came over to me in less than a minute, even though the bar was pretty full. The bartender noticed I had a bass case and told me that I should get over to the sign up sheet ‘right away’ since there were a lot of player there that night. Super cool of her. I had a couple scotch & sodas, sat in with some pretty solid players and had a good time all the way around.

My local watering hole great place !!! but keep an eye on the little asian lady bartender she likes to add her drinks on people’s tabs i was in there a couple of weeks ago long story short she added her drinks to my tab which was 140 $ ridiculous for the desert room okay I figured that can be her tip I closed out my tab and walked out with three girl friends we’re getting into our vehicles she sent two of her friends to confront us they were two older ladies in their late 30’s one wearing glasses and the other one was missing some teeth her friend said that she’s in there crying her eyes out because we didn’t leave her not $ 1 so she proceeded to fight us big mistake that girl got beat up and then we left I’ve been going to the desert room for years you seen different bartenders come and go hopefully the owner keeps an eye out on that bartender because she’s going to get somebody seriously hurt I would give it 0 stars but it’s not the bar’s fault just the employee !! –your neighbor

This is the real deal. No hipster bullshit here (I think they are afraid to venture in here?). I have been coming here off and on for years, and thankfully it never changes. It is just a simple, no frills, fantastic dive. Drinks are cheap, people are chill, lots of room to spread out — there is actually a second entire room in back with its own bar for the crowded nights. There is a smoking patio in back, but no need, as you can just light up right at the bar. No food except for popcorn, but they don’t mind if you have food delivered in. Also easy parking in the front on Gardena Boulevard, or there is also a back parking lot.

This is the place hipsters want to discover, but are too scared to go to.
I ONLY go to The Desert Room on Sunday nights, for the amazing blues jams. Master musicians from ALL over the county converge here on Sunday night to show their talents and it’s one of coolest things you’ll ever experience.
There is amazing diversity here too, and a very friendly atmosphere. It’s like Cheers, but way cooler.

A wonderful local dive bar. Cheap drinks and good service. I went Sunday for the live blues music, the bar was packed but service was still fast. The music was great as well. I will have to come back.

The Desert Room is such as diverse atmosphere, people of every race, class and everything you can imagine as a great family the bartenders are so friendly and prompt with their service and the entertainment rocks! I could not ask for anything better! I feel very safe and looked out for The best thing about this place is there are so many beautiful men and women. It feels like a Cheers atmosphere, but we embrace and want to new folks! If you haven’t experienced the Desert Room then you are missing out. Come in and see for yourself!

Very laid back and social bar. The usuals/​normies make you feel right at home, on the weekends they have open mic/​band, some pretty legit musicians getting down in there :) Cheap drinks, decent variety, when it gets packed though I will admit it’s hard to get service, bring a hot chick with you, it will solve that issue :)

I’ve been coming here for years. It’s a great place with cool regulars and cheap drinks. It’s had its ups and down in clientele but it’s still an awesome spot. A great hole in the wall bar. If you’re not a fan of dive bars or cigarette smoke than this place is not for you.

I don’t care how cheap the drinks are in this waste land. Not worth anyone’s time. Save your cash and don’t come here. If you want a cheap drink… Then make some at home. Super weirdo place w/​super weirdo folks! Please avoid this place Unilocalers! Oh and FYI– you’re allowed to smoke INSIDE this joint!!! Yuck!!!

Cheap drinks, bare bones and no attitudes, very friendly.
Free popcorn, they even let you BYOF (Bring your own food). I might ave to slide in there with some of my best dishes to share with everyone, why not?
Everyone I bring to this place, loves it, and why wouldn’t they? The frou-​frou bar/​lounges are getting tired with the overpriced drinks and bouncers. Sometimes you just want to have a drink, laugh and belt out some KARAOKE!

I came here a few months ago with a friend. It was karaōke night which normally I’d be all for and may even join in but the bar was filled with a much older crowd and a few of them were pretty drunk, like they’d been there all day. They were friendly, but it wasn’t really my scene. There was a male bartender that I really didn’t enjoy. They were watching female ice skating and every time there was a girl with a nice body, butt, boobs. Any of it he’d make crude comments to the other gentlemen sitting at the bar. It made my friend and I feel a little uncomfortable especially since the girls on the TV were literally girls. Like under 18. I gave this place more stars than what it deserved because the female bartender was very friendly and they have a good variety of beer. But its unlikely I will return here.

LOVED this bar… UNTIL they started closing their pool table on karaōke nights!!! They do Karaōke on Thursdays — Sundays. That’s right 4 NIGHTS A WEEK!!! I know there’s a lot of karaōke fans out there, but the pool table is on the other side of the bar (even though it’s a small bar). I use to like this bar as it was close to my house. But, being a pool player, this was where I would come to play pool. There is now a sign posted that the POOL TABLE IS CLOSED DURING KARAOKE… NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
RIDICULOUS!!! Someone needs to inform the owners that they are losing money by closing the pool table so people can sit around and listen to bad singers!!!

Love this bar!!! My only complaint is I won’t go Sunday nights. Mainly due to the band being WAY to loud. It’s a small bar with a lot of noise. Every time I go I’m screaming over the band, get a raging headache, and feel sick due to headache. My friend and I have decided that although the band is good the, way too loud, noise isn’t worth it.

This is a cool «hide-​away» spot… A few of my co-​workers decided to take me here after work for my birthday. When I arrived, I must say I was a bit nervous. I was thinking, «Where in the world have they taken me?!» But to my surprise, I had a great time. A diverse crowd, and everyone was so friendly. The juke box had us dancing, and the drinks and pool table kept the party going. Karaōke was cool. If you want to go to a bar where you are not harrassed, or don’t feel like being around obnoxious people, I recommend this neighborhood bar.

If you’re reading this, please don’t get offended with what Im writing. Believe me, I would be the last person to say anything bad about this place considering it used to be my home away from home. I met a lot of good people here and created a lot of wonderful memories. I used to frequent the place And it was mainly for the great people and feeling of safety. That’s no longer the case. Long story short, I was physically assaulted by their employee (Clark) and his girlfriend (Susan) Ive reported this incident with the authorities due to the fact that they continued to harass me after the event and even though I no longer step into the establishment. I posted a picture of the bruises on my neck but it somehow got deleted by, I don’t know whom. This event by far, trumps any other concerns I might have had in the past. Which, cannot be ignored or forgiven.
What has me at loss is that, I was blamed for the incident and no one was reprimanded. You just cannot go around acting like a Neanderthal. I dont know about you but I for one, do not support any establishment who will allow their employees to go around choking females.
To show the arrogance and lack of decency, Clark «liked» the photo I posted of my bruised neck, as if he pride himself of his actions. Now tell me what kind of a man would be proud of laying a hand on a woman?

Fun times every Sunday Night at the Desert Room Blues Jam in the D-​T-​G (down town gardena). Visited twice and both times it was rock-​n-​blues fun, plan to return soon.
Free popcorn, wide mix of patrons both regular, jammers and more.
Extremely reasonable beverage prices, bartender Steve provides great service.
The resident bar cat will surely stroll over and check you out on the initial visit !!

ps: Admit I thought the inside smoking thing could be an issue… but it is not. On the second visit I realized this venue /​dive bar has a SERIOUS plan for air flow… they have three aircraft carrier class exhaust fans in the ceiling that work great… (but not wind tunnel gale force like to pull off my black cap…). I have been to a number of gucci clubs that are «no-​smoking» but smell like a carton of cancer sticks. amazingly, this place does not and tip of that black cap to management for a very well executed air flow plan !!

I’m usually more of a glitter, stilettos, and dance clubs sort of girl since essentially, bars are usually loud and all you can do is «hang out» BUT! The desert room has a pool table :)
I came here with my partner and her two friends after one of them recommended it.

If you’re not a smoker, this is a smoking bar. Not sure if that’s legal but no one seems to care.
The décor is low light, dive bar ish, and just all around chill. The people there seemed relatively young (on a Tuesday night) not sure if I would have imagined that judging from the location. This is every hipsters dream come true lol.
As for me? I love it, can’t wait to go back :)
