Originally, we wanted to go elsewhere but stumble on this place because the wait for another restaurant was ridiculously long. I had a delicious meal. The kal bi was yummy. Tender and flavorful. The tofu soup was good too not too powdery, and not weird spices. The sides were not bad. They give you a fried fish. Would love to go again if I’m ever in the neighborhood.

Galbitang for only $ 9.99?! Yes, please! I love love absolutely love Galbitang as it is one of the healthier dishes that I would order at a Korean restaurant. I’ve tried Galbitang at other places but prices would usually be in the $ 11+ area, so when I saw that this one cost less than $ 10, I just knew that I had to try it! The Galbitang was pretty delicious. Broth was yummy along with the clear glass noodles. Other than that, we also ordered the soondubu combo that came with Galbi(spareribs). The korean tofu was pretty delicious. What I also like about this place is that they give you the delicious purple rice. I love the variety of their banchan dishes as well. Everything was delicious. Prices reasonable. If you purchase a combo meal, you also get a free soda if you check in on Unilocal.Other than that, service is decent and there’s plenty of parking. Would definitely come here again!

Tofu Village is a casual and comfortable hole-in-the-wall restaurant with superior tofu soup! The taste of their soups is a little different from other tofu soup restaurants I’ve been to; there seems to be more«umami» and flavor at Tofu Village. Their Dol Sot Bibim Bap is also excellent! Finally, the staff there is extremely kind and attentive. They’re very good about refilling your side dishes.

Oh my! So salty, that tofu soup. IDK what was going on, but I know I’ve had much better soon tofu elsewhere. I didn’t even finish my meal because it was just a chore to go through. And I hadn’t eaten much that day. But I did enjoy the side dishes though, and the waitress was really nice and responsive. I just wish the food was better. :( Parking was ample.

I always get soon tofu when dining here. Decided to try something different. Ordered the mushroom hot pot and spicy mixed seafood. Simply, stick to soon tofu only. No need to explore other menu items!

Great short ribs, mediocre tofu soup, dissatisfying customer service. Kalbi Jjim(Korean Beef Short Rib Stew): This is one of the few places you can get short rib stew in the South Bay, and by far the only place I know that cooks it spicy! The dish itself is called«Spicy Kalbi Jjim,» but you could ask for it mild, spicy, or extra spicy. The order comes with 5 chunky pieces(2 peoples worth) Tofu Soup: Their tofu is just alright — not the best but not the worst. I wouldn’t come here just for the soup(there are places much better out there — Chodang tofu being the best and then BCD.) I come here for the Kalbi Jjim but end up ordering a tofu soup on the side to share with someone. Service: Our waitress was very unfriendly. She didn’t smile once and was, in a sense, rude. She didn’t even bring us water until I reminded her of it after we started eating.

We had dinner last night here at the Tofu Village. We’ve been here before however tonight was different. The banchan was amazing. Every side dish was on point ! From the Kimchi to the seaweed salad. Just amazing, fresh and tasty! We ordered the tofu soup which comes out boiling hot and with an egg cracked in. Wow! With the rice it was perfect. Also ordered the BBQ Ribs which came out sizzling and delicious. The service was great too as I think she remembered us from the last time. We looked like a sore thumb in there amongst the crowd but we enjoyed every minute of it. Can’t wait to go back! Thank you for a great meal!

Great hole in the wall place. Seems like it’s family owned and operated. we ordered spicy tofu, pork soup and bi bim bap. Both were so delicious. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Before your meal they bring out plenty of side dishes and a complimentary fried fish which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. The soup came out boiling hot in the ceramic plate it’s served in and kept it hot until the very last spoon full. My boyfriend has tried bi bim baps at several places and he said that this place has been his favorite by far. Only reason I’m not giving this place 5stars is because they didn’t honor the Unilocal check in offer they have. Our waitress said it was only valid during lunch hours but that was never specified on the offer. Other than that great place, good environment and amazing food. Can’t wait to go back.

The taste is pretty much average, but the service is very poor… so if you got plans for the night and need to find a quick place to chow down, then this ain’t the place to go bro… I’m still looking for a good place to eat soondubu in Torrance/Gardena. Would love suggestions if anyone has any?

This place is hit and miss basically. I love the food but its is kind of small and things get really crazy really fast. If you can, try to be there by 11:45. Parking is easy though and there is also a bakery and a boba place nearby as well. This place is kind of small and is not really good for a big group. One thing I dislike about this area is that people freely smokes outside the restaurant and I can smell it inside the restaurant.

Food was salty and cold. My bibimbop rice and vegetables were cold and tofu caseerrol didn’t taste that good. Service wasn’t all that good either. I probably will not come back here

After at least 15 visits to Tofu Village in the past few years and 5 in the past year, I’m taking a time out. The service here is never stellar, but most of the time, I get what I need with persistence. The problem is that the service here is so slow and it is so difficult to communicate with the employees that it just isn’t worth the bother if you’re hungry, tired, or have something else to do in the next two hours. Well, I was super exhausted on this particular visit and I had a full night ahead. No Bueno. In addition, one order of tofu soup was only half full(or half empty) and another tofu soup was so bland, it was nearly transparent. The purple rice that I used to love and happily chip away at is now gray… and how come it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the stone pot anymore? What’s up with that??? I, just, can’t. Beyond that, there’s a thick film of oil/grime on the tables and chairs that I simply can no longer ignore. Goodbye Tofu Village, see you again when I’m brave and/or desperate.

i LOVE their purple rice!!! They give you plentiful banchan(sides) and the hot tea is perfect for washing it all down. The tofu soup is good. The combination soup(which includes beef and seafood) was pretty plentiful on clams. Don’t be afraid to order medium spice if you like spicy. I always tend to stay on the mild side when I first try out a korean place because often, mild is still pretty darn spicy… but here, mild was truly mild… almost on the verge of no spice at all. The spicy pork(aka bulgogi) is sooo good(and indeed spicy)!!! Service is quick and good, and the restaurant is clean.

I love this place… i am addicted to their kimchee soontofu soup! It’s nice and flavorful… Their purple rice is also a breath of fresh air because most places serve white rice. I come here quite often and the ladies are always nice. The unlimited sides they give you are also tasty such as their pickled cucumbers, glass noodles, potato salad, seaweed and so on. They seem to provide you with more sides than other soontofu places ive been to. Prices are decent and you can also place phone orders for pick-up. They also have plenty of parking, give it a try if you can.

Decent Korean food in Gardena. I came here for a lunch with my co-workers on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was pretty full for a Friday lunch. I got seated right away. I decided in beef soon tofu(medium spicy). Although the waitress took the order pretty quickly, the rest of the service was so slow. It took forever to get the banchan(side dishes), refill our water, etc. Also, our party got their food at way different times. My soon tofu finally came out and I have to say it was pretty good. Way better than BCD. The soon tofu was not watery and the spiciness level was perfect. The soon tofu also came with rice in a hot pot(like BCD). I also liked the banchan that they gave, it paired really well with my meal. Overall, a decent place for soon tofu. The service was very slow, but it was expected since it was Friday afternoon. This location is in a plaza with plenty of parking.

Came here for dinner for the first time tonight, and I really enjoyed the soon tofu and banchan and the purple rice! Living in ktown, I have a high standard for korean food and usually only eat korean food in ktown, but I was disappointed in my last few experiences at BCD and decided to check this place out since it had great Unilocal reviews and I’m usually around the South Bay. I had the combination(beef, clam, shrimp) soon tofu($ 9.99) and BF had bibimbab($ 9.99). We both loved our orders. I really liked the broth and the tofu was delicious as was the beef, clam and the soup came with 3 shrimps. They gave 8 different little appetizers, including some of my faves-jap chae, potato salad, and these yummy, warm tofu squares. Service was a bit slow and table was kinda sticky when we sat down, but we will definitely be back for the delicious food! And they accept AMEX, which is definitely a plus!

Another an ok place. I ordered noodle with clams not expecting vongole. It was vege noodle with a few very small clams. Even banchan was not good. The place was packed, maybe the price attracts the people.

This place is not as astonishing as it appears to be. I came here because of the Unilocal reviews. Since this place has a high rating, I decided to give this place a try. Immediately, I ordered the seafood soon tofu, since I was badly craving for one. It wasn’t very long when my food arrived. The condiment was meh!, they didn’t offer anything special and they are pretty average for my taste. The kimchi was good, not that great. The tofu soup, well its full of tofu and little seafood, the flavor was bland. I was definitely not impressed. Nothing like what I had expected. The only good thing about this place is that the food here is very reasonable. The service is here is average, female server is constantly chatting away in the corner. This place will not be my first choice when I’m craving soon tofu soup next time, that’s for sure.

It was a cold day on a Fri, and after a heavy night of drinking, I needed some soondubu. Tofu Village is on Western just past 183rd in the Seoul Plaza of Gardena. It is across the street from previously reviewed Old Time Noodle House. In addition to soondubu, TV also offers galbitang(spicy rib soup). I ordered the pork kimchee soondubu. In addition to a steaming bowl of soup, you receive six types of banchan including some fish($ 8.99). First of all, the soup came out bubbling hot compared to previously reviewed Mama Tofu. In addition, the portion is 1⁄3 larger and the price is $ 1 less. The soup was very good. Tofu is one of the world’s great foods: It is gluten free, low in calories, cholesterol free, and is an excellent source of protein, iron and calcium. There was a lot of tofu in this dish, and a little bit of heat as requested. The only downside was there was not much meat. On the other hand, the ban chan was above average, and you are welcome to more: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, TV is a small place with very basic amenities. Nonetheless, the place was clean: 3 Stars. Service was OK. The waitresses were on top of things at first. But I had to ask for more tea despite the waitress refilling others, and I was given the bill before I finished eating: 3 Stars. Regardless of the ambiance and service, TV is my go to place for soondubu in the area. The food is more authentic compared to Mama Tofu, its is also better than BCD, the prices are more reasonable, and you leave feeling full vs gypped.

I have been loving soon tofu lately!!! My brother and his wife have come here several times and have raved about this restaurant. We decided to come here for our weekly family get together and I’m so glad we did! We were seated immediately and we ordered immediately because we were haaaangry! I haven’t been to too many tofu soup restaurants, so I’m not sure what the standard prices are, but my brother did say that this restaurant is cheaper than most. The sides were delicious, including the fried(?) fish they gave. This is the first restaurant that served it. They had bean sprouts, kimchee, hot tofu, seaweed, potatoes, and a few other things. We ordered seafood soon tofu, galbi, clam soon tofu, hot stone bibimbap, and spicy pork. Everything was delicious, especially the galbi and spicy pork! I mean, delicious! They serve soon tofu with purple rice, which I’ve never seen before. Don’t be alarmed. It doesn’t taste any different than any rice. I thought it’d be at least flavored, but I didn’t detect any. The servers are very attentive and are more than happy to refill your aides as often as you’d like.
