Food is great, but the service really needs work. If they would lay the place out slightly different where one person takes orders and the other station takes payment, things would go a lot smoother. Do love their theme days and lobster nights.

Have literally said«I’ll give this place another shot» 4 – 5 times over the past 2 years. Service with an attitude for the most part. I’ve gotten dishes there twice that were so burnt I couldn’t believe they were actually serving them to me. Besides those occurrences I’ve never had a terrible meal there, but I’ve also never had a good one. It’s just hard to pay good money for mediocrity and an attitude. It’s a shame because it’s a great location and a cute place.

We were in the area looking for a diner for breakfast, this place turned out to be so much better. Initially it didn’t show up on Unilocal radar— excellent for breakfast and lunch. Hidden gem

Only place in town to get a «to go» order. Forget going on a Sunday… the wait for a simple breakfast wrap took over 30 minutes. Second time I was here, waited about 45 the first time, thought that was an anomaly. I’m not going back. Hire some more help.

I had the Salmon Burger on a plate, with a side of cole slaw, rather than fries. It was absolutely perfect! No room for improvement, if that is even possible! Not a trace left on the dish! Then, Apple pie with ice cream for dessert… I’m a pie baker, and critical! Again, cleared my plate — savoring each bite of that flaky, buttery crust! The band was captivating. The atmosphere is hip. Great job to the owner and staff!

What used to be a cute deli to grab a quick sandwich or coffee has changed over the past year, unfortunately for the worse. Prices seem high for what they offer, salad case is not always looking too fresh, and takes quite some time to receive your order. Service flip-flops between surly or flustered. I can deal with sour faces, or the confused young help they have working for them, but I have a hard time supporting the owner. I have heard the owner be straight up condescending and rude to multiple customers, which I find to be a huge turn off. Would definitely recommend walking a block over if you’re looking for some quality food & friendlier atmosphere.

Cute place and food was good… probably would have been better if they actually got my order right! Probably would have been great if the service was better… Wont be returning anytime soon.

Great food, wonderful atmosphere and nice folks. The music on Saturday nights has been excellent. Great for local residents but definitely worth a trip!

It is a shame what became of this place when Carl Zatz took it over this past summer. What used to be a family friendly bakery selling delicious locally sourced food has become a terrible excuse for a deli, bakery or restaurant. It is hard to put into words how terrible the service is here but I am going to try. I cannot comment on the food quality because despite paying for mine, I never received it. There were maybe three people in the place when my daughter and I arrived. I ordered a cookie for her and a bacon egg and cheese for myself. After waiting for a while I asked about my food. A clueless and disinterested clerk flipped through a bunch of paper tickets mumbled to another bored looking woman behind the counter and told me nothing. At this point I set the timer on my phone and after 20 minutes left. Now I realize good food from a full restaurant is worth waiting for. The place used to have lines to the door that were worth standing in. Why am empty place takes half an hour to not deliver an egg sandwich is bewildering. The owner also took what had been a family friendly place and replaced all the tables with glass tables.

I will no longer be eating here. The food has changed, and this place is NOT little kid friendly. I just blew $ 20 on a grilled cheese sandwich(looked and tasted like white bread with prepackaged yellow cheese, ew) and a few dried pieces of chicken w let tomato mayo on white toast. They now offer the smallest serving of fries on the planet for $ 3. It’s too bad, this place is a place I almost liked once, but no way, each visit over the last few months has gotten worse. Do not take kids under the age of 6 here. Too much money for something u can make in the bargain aisle of the mainstream supermarket for like $ 3. Rant over.

The best coffee around! I get absolutely no heart burn from the coffee. I also love the food, very fresh and delicious! Give it a try you won’t be disappointed!

Half hearted and uninterested service here when I visited assuming it would provide some bakery goods. Perhaps if I had been spending more money on a sandwich or coffee they would have been more interested. It’s hard to define yourself as a bakery when you have one sorry baguette left for sale at noon on a weekday.

Yes, there food is fantastic. But have you tried their catering?!? Omnivore Catered Events did our wedding and they were absolutely AMAZING! Not only do they build a menu around what YOU want, but Karen is basically like a wedding planner! She did everything! We had our wedding at our home in New Paltz. We invited Karen and John to our home and walked through what we wanted for our wedding. We wanted to food to represent the 3 international trips we had taken together as a couple; Mexico, Peru, and Italy. John and Karen helped us build an amazing menu around the food we loved so much at each location. John also recreated the causa’s we had in Peru based solely off a picture and our description of the taste. The guy is freaking brilliant. Karen was a work horse with setting up the tents, rentals, chairs, glasses, port-johns, and everything we would need. I never had to lift a finger or scope out a party rental place. She did everything. Including coming out to the house at least 4 times to do a complete walk-through from the moment guests would arrive until the last one left. And she created 2 different plans; Plan A– the original wedding plan and Plan B– the rain contingency. She was spot on with every little detail. The day finally arrived on June 22nd and it was a gorgeous sunny day! The tents were set up as were the bar stations and pass around food. Everything went off exactly as planned! It was a stunning wedding and everyone kept commenting on the service and the amazing food and delicious cocktails! One other thing to mention, as my husband and I were visiting with guests, and running here for pictures, and hurrying here to speak with this person and that person, Karen was always right by us feeding us water, cocktails and even bringing us platters of the pass around food to keep us hydrated but also so we could just enjoy. She was always there and never missed a beat. Finally, at the end of the evening, my husband and I didn’t get a chance to try all the amazing food our guests were telling us about as the food stations were closing down and the night was getting late. I mentioned to Karen that I didn’t get a chance to try the Italian meatballs in Grandma sauce(my favorite), within a minute, as I was sitting down chatting with guests, Karen brought a plate of meatballs, a fork and linen napkin followed up by «Do you want an Aperol Spritzer with that?» Yes, Karen! Grazie! If you’re in need of a great event catering company for a very special event; you must call Karen and John at Omnivore. Great food, great planning and people you can trust.

I swing by whenever I’m passing through Gardiner. The sandwiches(try the meatloaf one) and soups(duck and wild rice was a bargain at $ 4 for a small) are solid. Breakfast options are tasty and substantial, and they have the best coffee in Ulster County. I’ll stand by that.

This is a really great option when you know the line for the Bistro is hours long. The food and prices are pretty comparable, the difference is that you order at the cashier and try to find a open table yourself. We came before the rush and had a great spot near the window. While we were enjoying our meal, we felt hawked by some older folk who clearly wanted our spot, which definitely took away from the overall experience. Rude people aside, the food is awesome. I got, what was essentially, a bagel with lox inside of an omelet, i. e: cream cheese, lox, red onion and capers. Needless to say, it hit the spot, and prompted: why hasn’t this been thought of before!!! My boyfriend got a spicy breakfast quesadilla, he was happy that Heartbreaking Dawn’s hot sauce was offered on the side. Great, strong, organic coffee too. We didn’t try the baked goods or anything in the deli case yet, but will next time. This is definitely a great quick, yummy, casual brunch spot.

Well worth a visit! if you are used to visiting the ‘Gunks by way of New Paltz, try coming through Gardiner and stopping here for breakfast or take-away lunch instead! Their coffee very good, their bakery selection is fresh and scrumptious, and their deli foods look very enticing. Excellent customer service, and a sumptuous — clean — spacious powder room(which is a welcomed rarity, if you are on the road).

I am in Gardiner quite often for work, and frequently visit the Village Market and Bakery. The coffee is nice and strong, they have a great selection of fresh baked goods(cookies, muffins and the like), breakfast items made to order, etc. I have had lunch here 6 times in the last 3 weeks and have not been disappointed once. I have grown quite fond of the«yes dear» panini. There is a large selection of hot and cold sandwiches made to order as well as a stocked deli case with fresh items such as chicken salad and what not. They also sell various grocery items and cold beverages. All around, a solid choice when in Gardiner.

Fantastic sandwiches and very tasty baked treats. They also do some really great breakfast sandwiches/burritos. And I appreciate that they sell very strong, organic coffee. It’s the perfect place to stop if you’re heading up to the mountains or the parks. Sometimes there’s a bit of a wait, but that’s what happens when everything is good. Also, they introduced me to Jane’s Killer Chocolate ice cream, which they sadly don’t sell anymore, but I indebted to them for life for their brief sale of the best. ice cream. ever.
