Stopped here for lunch and a beer on a weekday. Good local flavor. Nice local folks to talk to. Most seem to have ties to cape cod, MA. Super cool historic bar. Downsides are that the bartender chain smokes in the doorway behind the bar(INSIDE which I’m pretty sure is illegal in cali) and that the restaurant is a Mexican place which is odd for a historic bar. But If you are in town it is worth checking out.

Dont bother going here! Unless your a fan of: Disgusting mexicali food. Hostile bartenders Bad Juju Sideways sneering in your general direction. One star for the dude in the kitchen who when I came in was running orders, cooking food, cashiering, getting drinks and organizing to go food. He was doing everything in his power to make the best of it. I know its not you buddy your good. Oh and they serve drinks in jars. Way to get creative with your bar. Frightening place. Won’t return. Im sure they wont care.

The food is ok, nothing great. The taco was good and crispy with tender chicken. The rice was bland and blah, the beans were good. The chips and salsa was actually pretty good. The chips seemed fresh and were served warm. They serve a pico de gallo type salsa that’s very mild. The service, however was pretty darn bad. The waitress had a bad attitude and was extremely slow(overworked?). She made us feel like we were a burden to her.(–1 star) The atmosphere is pretty old and dingy. Don’t think I’ll return to this place.

We stopped in Georgetown on the way to famed university falls on a hot day and decided to eat lunch here. I was a bit wary as Mexican food in small towns are usually really, really crappy and over priced. Atmosphere: You can’t beat the atmosphere, you’re in Georgetown. It was an old building that smelled faintly of urine. I was worried my chair was going to bust on me, as it was pretty rickety. Service: Very friendly, and prompt on the multiple refills we needed from our super hot motorcycle ride. Food came out in a good time. Food: Cheese Enchilada Lunch Special: Bf got this and thought it was ok, nothing special, but nothing fantastic. Huevos Rancheros: Yes, this is what I got for lunch, I thought it was pretty good. Certainly nothing fancy or special, but the eggs were cooked well, the corn tortillas were fresh and hot, and the beans and rice were not too salty but still tasty. I would come here again. Overall: If you find yourself in Georgetown, give it a shot.

This isn’t Mexican food, this is worse than Taco Bell, the only way it’s considered good is if you get totally screwed-up drinking in the bar. Watch the owner, Lucas/Jose, his eyes are glued to every set of tits that walk in the place.

The restaurant in the back room of the bar is now a very decent Mexican place. I really thinbk the food deserves 4 stars, but since it is the best Mexican within 40 or so miles I had to boost it to a 5. The bar is something to be experienced. It is a throw back in time and a wonderful place to be in on a cold winters day or night. They used to have a wood burning stove which was very atmospheric and smelled great, but they now have a propane burning stove which is effective, but lacks the charm of the wood burner. The drinks are stiff. Order a «Georgetown Meal» which is the bloody mary if you are not the designated driver. Driving back home on the mountain roads is not to be encouraged if you have had one too many. The first 1000 feet flying down the canyon will be over in a second. The Dept. of Fish and Game just raided the Hotel and removed two old stuffed animals that have been hanging for the past 60 years and are now endangered species. I guess the DFG intends to release them in the wild. If you come on a weekend expect a large group of motorcyclists which provides some entertainment. Leave your Flatlander Attitudes at the swinging door.

This place is right on line for what it is. It’s a small town bar. They get one thing right, the drinks are STRONG. Ask for a double if you want to drink what ever your ordered«strait»… with maybe a splash of juice/soda. This place is a step back in time. Be transformed back into the California Gold Rush! The food in the back is alright. Not good, and not bad. This is a place for drinking so stick with that in mind and you’ll be fine. The only exception is taco night. Maybe enjoy a taco and heavy drinking! The beer selection is small but they do keep Sierra Nevada on tap. Just be nice to the one bar tender on staff that night and you’ll be fine. No fear, one is enough to be served quickly.

Service is gruff, wall«art» is super dusty, locals are a little rough around the edges, but the beer(Budweiser) came in an icy cold jam jar, which was nice given the heat of the day. If you’re a fan of the small town biker bar, you’ll like this place.
