Had the Virginian breakfast, it was very good. Will be back. I want to try the fish fry. Service was excellent.

My wife had eaten at Kathy’s Kitchen and remembered how much she had enjoyed it so we gave it a try one day. It was now KJ’s and she was pleasantly surprised to see that not much had changed. I was instantly charmed by the small town appeal and the excellent homestyle meals. The service was quick and friendly and the owner went above and beyond by coming out to personally check quality and satisfaction and interacting with our daughter. What really sets KJ’s apart is the variety of delicious and affordable choices on their menu. I can’t decide which is my favorite; the Virginia, Mini Skinny, or the Spaghetti. Just writing this review is making me drool. The homefries and omelettes are AMAZING! They have daily specials and while the spaghetti is my favorite, I have yet to find one I don’t like. They make their pies from scratch including the crust! I’ve seen other reviewers mention the décor, but it takes me to a time when people slowed down, talked to their neighbors, and had a true sense of community. Plus, I couldn’t care less. I’m not there because of what it looks like. I’m there to eat. I would highly recommend KJ’s to anyone who is looking for a meal to remind them of mom at a price that wouldn’t make mom raise her eyebrows.

Always consistent. A good home town restaurant with that home town feel. If the owner is there he always comes out for a meet and greet. Big variety on the menu with daily specials and very fair pricing. My family enjoys eating at KJ’ s.

I applaud the owner for trying to keep this restaurant going in Germantown. We need a place like this in our area — good, basic food in a warm inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately when the new owners took control most of the decorative touches, including local artwork for sale, were taken down. One of the few things on the wall is a framed John Wayne poster outside the manager’s office(?!?). The result is a bare, slightly grimy, less than inviting space. The food, while not terrible, is fairly underwhelming. I usually stay in the omelet family and have always found it to be passable albeit slightly over cooked. An over reliance on canned ingredients does nothing to help the menu. Truly I could stay at home and eat a better quality meal in a more hospitable environment. I will continue to try them out from time to time as I believe the owner sincerely wants this place to succeed(he does come out and talk to customers), but a good coat of paint and a change of flooring would go a long way in helping this place.

I’ve been going to this place since it was the«Downtowner» and«Kathy’s Kitchen» and it has only gone DOWNHILL since then. The food is not the best, not awful, but not good. Service is kinda mediocre, and I personally have seen multiple times people leaving because they have waited 10+ minutes with out even being spoken to. And then there is the bugs! They have one of the worst fruit fly and gnat problems I’ve seen. It’s unappetizing and disgusting. I hate to be so hard on this local watering hole but it’s just not ok this day and age to have these issues. I hope they can turn this around because this truly is a staple in Germantown.
