My boyfriend and I went to return the wrong size doggie diaper and purchase the correct size. While I went to get the correct size, my boyfriend started the return. The cashier exclaimed that she hated returns. At the same time, she saw the clothes hangers we brought back and said «We don’t even take those» and rudely pointed at the trash, implying that we throw it away. If that wasn’t enough, instead of completing the return/​purchase in one transaction, she proceeded to complete the return separately without asking me. I dislike separate transactions showing up on my bank statement so I asked her to complete everything in one transaction. She then glared at me and shouted that she was already doing the return separately. This was the worst customer service experience at Petsmart.

The dog training classes offered at this location, with Angela Parent as the trainer specifically, are amazing! We were shopping with our puppy Lily at Petsmart when Angela discovered us and suggested that we attend a puppy playtime that was about to commence. We loved puppy playtime (it really helped get Lily’s energy out!), and we learned some very valuable information and advice about raising a puppy from Angela while they played. We liked Angela so much that we decided to enroll Lily in her puppy education class, and then in intermediate, and advanced! Now Lily is one year old and is a certified therapy dog; we couldn’t have done it without Angela!
The reason that we loved Angela as an instructor so much is that she is not only immensely knowledgeable, but she also has a great sense of humor and makes the process of training so much more approachable and less overwhelming. She is very patient in the classes and offers advice and constructive criticism in the most positive and helpful way. Sometimes she even served as a counselor when my husband and I argued about which one of us was practicing the exercises wrong! :)
Perhaps most importantly, our dog Lily LOVES her! We all miss Angela and our training classes. I would highly recommend that anyone considering training for their dog take her classes!

My dog has completed three training programs with trainer Angela and I couldn’t be more pleased. She (and Rosetta!) are experienced, knowledgeable, and extremely patient. Angela is interested in knowing what is most important for each owner and helps to ensure that every dog is progressing toward their goals. My dog requires a bit more personal space than other dogs and Angela has been a strong advocate for that special need in class. Angela really wants your dog to succeed and is always available to chat and ready to recommend something that might help with behavior — treats, harness, techniques, etc.

Rather go anywhere but this store– the grooming manager is rude– horrific service– I wish there was a no star button

Rather take the extra drive to a further store, the customer service sucks especially with the way they treat people with young kids — thinking it’s okay to say they need a cage for their kids. I think I’ll lock your unprofessional self in a small cage!

I have always had a positive experience at the grooming salon here. The groomers are warm and attentive and allow for drop offs. They give you an approximate window for pick up and call your cell when your pet is ready which is always helpful. The staff is also very helpful when it comes to picking items out in the main store.

I recently got a puppy and have been taking her to this petsmart location for Both banfield grooming and other pet supplies. And my puppy absolutely loves it there. She made friends with her groomer and I actually feel comfortable with leaving here with them. And I LOVE their clearance section because I can get her cheap toys since she’s a puppy and destroys everything. The staff here is also great. They answer any questions and socialize with my puppy.

Like a previous rater noted, they now will no longer groom dogs of a certain age on weekends. I have 2 dogs aged 10+ who just received check-​ups/​vaccinations with no problem (from the PetSmart Banfield clinic in the same store). When I called to book a grooming appt, I was told they cannot be dropped off to be groomed on the weekdays for more than 6 hours and cannot be groomed at all on the weekends. The person I talked to said «It gets too hectic on the weekends and it’s too much stress for the older dogs.» I suppose the groomers know better than the vets? They have lost my business and I will definitely discourage others from using them, regardless of their pets’ ages.

Feeling dogged out… Petsmart just shared that my dog was too old to groom on weekends! Wow, feeling like #doggydiscrimination They do a good job, but OMG, really?

I take my dog here for nail grinding and vet. Both aspects have been great.
Sometimes I feel there are too many vaccines which is why I took one star out. All the vets have been great with my Jack Russell and he has been sick pretty often. They have been able to get the right treatment every time and always call the next day to check on him.
The groomers have been nice to my dog too. I wouldn’t do any special grooming because all of the dogs always look scared out of their minds but I stay there while they do my dog’s nails. The groomer has always been sweet to him. I rather take my dog to the Groomery in Gaithersburg where the dogs don’t look like they can’t wait to get out.

Well I have tried PetSmart 3 times now. I should of learned my lession the first 2 times. But I can say 100% I will never go back! This time was the worst! So I have a doodle that every groomer says behaves amazing. So I have to say its the groomer. I will just focus on this last trip. They shaved the hair around her pads so close that when I got home I noticed that all of her pads were bleeding. They gave her butt pretty bad razor burn. To top it off they did not listen to anything on how I wanted her groomed. I told them 5 times on each item and they still did not hear me. Basicly they are in such a rush they do what ever they have to do to get the dogs in and out! Do not go their!

Worst experience I’ve ever had with my dog ever — they strangled him! I have a 1 year old lab puppy. My husband and I were in a pinch and needed our dog’s nails clipped before going to visit family for Christmas. We walked in without an appointment and were seen right away. I made sure to tell the person clipping his nails that he was terrified of all the loud noises. My husband and I stayed in the room in hopes of making our puppy less nervous.
The technician put a collar around his neck then completely turned her back to him to gather her supplies. Our terrified puppy began backing off the table way from the technician. He fell off the table with the rope around his neck. He hung there screaming, crying, and scratching for 10 – 15 seconds before the technician pulled him back onto the table. THEY STRANGLED MY DOG! My husband and I were on the other side of a half wall unable to reach him while he writhed in pain. We were completely in shock. The technician quickly clipped his nails, muttered and apology, and handed us a bill. I sobbed the entire car ride home.
Once I composed myself I called the manager to complain. She offered a half-​assed «sorry». The sight of my puppy being hanged and screaming in pain haunts me. My experience here was so horrific that I will never return to this establishment for any reason; grooming, retail, etc.

I have to express my love for this place because they take such good care of my pup! My favorite groomer is Charlotte and she’s great at her craft! She’s always welcoming and extremely patient with my, not so well behaved shorkie. Over the past few months she’s gotten him accustomed to grooming and from what I hear he isn’t biting anymore.
Petsmart has decent prices, frequent sales and a large variety of pet supplies. We also visit this location for salt water supplies but they’re selection is below average.
Again, this is my number one place of choice for dog grooming.

I’m so disappointed in the level of inventory. I have come here 3 times looking for the food my dogs eat/​like blue basics small breed and the are always out of the large bags. It’s as if they don’t plan ahead or they just don’t care. If you see its popular you stock more of it! Who’s the buyer here? This bag lasts my 2 dogs less than a week ! C’mon ! The staff if great and looks every time but someone has I step up and tell
Management that you need more inventory !

Our granddaughter wanted a small aquarium for her/​guest room. Well, $ 200.00 later and counting we have a cute little set-​up in her room. Today, a Sunday, we went to get some finishing touches, most particularly a «bubbler» because I knew there was something missing. Sunday at PetSmart, dog adoptions, cat adoptions, regular customers, pretty darn busy so didn’t expect much help.
We hit the aquarium section and pretty soon a nice employee asks my husband if he needs help. Husband says no and I jump in «oh, yes we do!» They didn’t carry the filters I need, no problem I’ll order them on-​line. And then there was that bubbler. He found them right away but I had no idea what other supplies I needed to make it work. First employee was very nice but I don’t think he was assigned to aquariums so he called in Michelle. Michelle was a wealth of information. Helped him with the bubbler, then came over and explained the difference between Aqua Safe and Quick Start. Showed us which pet food to buy for Glofish. Then the ace up her sleeve. I asked if we needed a bunch of test kits. Oh no, if we bring a sample of our aquarium water to them they will do 5 tests on it for free, no problem. Since our local, family-​owned aquarium store has closed I didn’t think we’d get that kind of service. Just hope Michelle is there next week when we, hopefully, start to stock our tank.

Wow I am really surprised by all the reviews… I was just in again today and each time I walk in I am greeted with hellos and big smiles and asked multiple times if I can be helped. When I take in my 8 month old puppy, the employees pet him and help even more. He has been groomed there ever since he was born and they love him there and they do a fabulous job! Also, we did our puppy training class 1 and it was great!

I come to this Petsmart location to buy cat food and dog toys occasionally. I’ve never visited the veterinary practice, done training classes nor had my dogs groomed here. However, it’s convenient to where I live and shop for other things. When the dogs just need to get out of the house we bring them here, too. Of course, our pups only eat holistic food (snobs!) that Petsmart doesn’t carry so we go elsewhere for their food.

I took my golden retriever to the groomers here and they SHAVED OFF the skin behind her ears!!! Shes swollen, bleeding everywhere, and trying to itch it. poor thing. Please do NOT take your dog here.
Plus it cost us $ 100+ to get this done… PLEASE save your pup and take them somewhere you can trust!

PREFER NOT TO GO TO THIS PARTICULAR PETSMART
Some PETSMART’s have good Groomers, and I go to them exclusively. However, the Germantown, MD PETSMART is horrible. My review of 1 star is for the Germantown location only. I am very happy with the other locations.
My Experience:
I took one of my dogs (a Great Pyrenees) there. She has a lot of long, long hair. She came back poorly bathed, with minimal brush out –still with a lot of loose hair, and had to be brushed out by ME again upon returning home, to get the remaining shedding out.
I asked for cream rinse to be used, because she will knot terribly, if not used. He (the groomer) told it would be extra. (I paid it, but protested). Extra? Extra to use a necessary product to groom the dog? So I guess if a client doesn’t pay extra for cream rinse, (which is an unnecessary up-​charge) you don’t use the necessary products on my dog & my dog’s coat will be full of knots and you’ll just yank them out during the drying and brushing?
A professional and proper groomer should use whatever shampoo (and cream rinse/​detangler) necessary to PROPERLY do the job! On a long haired dog, cream rinse/​detangler is not an option. It is mandatory. If you don’t use it, the coat will be full of knots and be painful for the dog upon brush out.
$ 78.00 for only a bath (no trimming) plus a 30% tip is enough. — I always tip –just like in a hair salon (or more for a big dog or dogs w/​a lot of hair). — I assume PETSMART has already factored in the additional product (s) needed on large dogs and that’s part of the reason they charge more to bathe a large dog! That being said, I don’t like being nickeled and dimed & charged for cream rinse/​detangler. Not using it certainly is not comfortable for a long haired dog. Though I did pay for the cream rinse, if another owner declined the upcharge for the conditioner, the Groomer should do the right thing and do what’s needed to keep the dog comfortable. Always consider what is best for the dog, that is the first priority.
Out of several experiences there over the years, I have witnessed on more than one occasion, Groomers who were rough and not kind to dogs. (I watch through the glass from a distance).
I cherish my pets and want them treated not just humanely, but kindly and they did not get that at the Germantown PETSMART. I will never subject them to being groomed here again.

I love my dad. He spoils me rotten (then again, so does my mom… but she «seasons» her spoiling with big doses of guilt). We were at Brookstone and saw those little frogs in a «frogosphere». I jokingly said that I totally wanted one… and two days later, my dad calls me to tell me to come over to pick up my frogs. Heh. I wonder if this will work if I tell my dad I want my own tropical island? Just a thought.
I love my little froggies, however, the «frogosphere» that it came in seemed incredibly small for such two active frogs. The «frogosphere» was basically a 4“x5″ little clear plastic box. They seemed to always be bumping into the walls, and well — that’s just no way for a frog to live, right? So I came up to the Petsmart in Germantown to buy a new little glass bowl for them. You know the kind. The classic ubiquitous glass goldfish bowl.
Or maybe not as ubiquitous as I thought…
I arrived at Petsmart and looked in the fish section and the only aquariums or bowls that were available where massive 20 gallon ones. Hrmph. After much loud «HELLO OUT THERE!» I finally got the attention of a sales person, and ask for his help in finding a simple, classic glass bowl… and was told that they were all out. Could he look in the back to see if there are any more? Nope. Did he have anything similar anywhere? Nope. Could he be any less helpful? Doubt it. *sigh*.
Fine. We moved on to getting a pet snail for my frogs (they ate the one that came with the «frogosphere») and actually found a very nice lady, who helped us get two snails, gave us some tips on keeping our little froggies happy and healthy… and kindly explained that they were re-​doing their aquarium stock, so a lot of key items may be out. Ah. Was that so hard for the first guy to tell us? I would have been way more understanding if he just said that, instead of «nope» to every question I asked. She saved this from being a sad 1 star review. YAY basic customer service!
So we walked out of there with two new snails (which the frogs, again, promptly ate), but sans glass bowl.
Fortunately, there is a Michael’s in the same shopping center… where I was able to get my glass bowl. Not sure if the froggies are any happier, but they definitely have more room in which to swim.
