The Dermatology Center

This place is awful i wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy. They overbook leaving no time for a patient to discuss ones concerns with the derm doctors. Reception clerks need to obtain classes on respect and professionalism. If you have more than 2 issues you are only permitted to discuss one of your concerns and they request that you make another appointment. I am used to doctors that care and take their time to talk to you not rush you and ask you to make another appointment. They are obviously interested in only making money and not taking care of the patients problem. Don’t go there it’s a ripoff.

The front office was super nice when I accidentally booked an appointment for the wrong doctor. When I came in, I only had to wait about 10 minutes at the most to be seen by the doctor.
The consultation was professional and quick. She told me what the procedures would be like and she was very knowledgeable.
I have been here before to get acne meds when I was a teenager and have not been disappointed with the service here.

Dr. Pillemer is the best!!! I transferred to this office after a bad experience at a previous dermatologist. Dr. Pillemer is straight to the point, he EXPLAINS everything, and provided me with a hopeful treatment plan. I have been frustrated for years trying to find the best treatment plan and I am already seeing great results!
I am giving 4 stars because of the physician assistants, really scattered and unorganized.

I’ve only had really pleasant experiences at the Germantown Dermatology Center. Very professional and genuine in caring for their patients. As a first timer in seeing a dermatologist, I think I made a really good choice in choosing this clinic for my medical needs. Unlike most doctor offices that I’ve been to, they always take you in at your scheduled appointment time, which I really appreciate.
In terms of my experiences with the dermatologists, I can only say good things about my consultations and procedures performed. With my appointments, I was able to see Dr. Pillemer for my consultation and Dr. Yu for my procedure. I felt totally at ease in discussing with them about my concerns. My encounters with both doctors never felt rushed and were pretty thorough.
I highly recommend this clinic to anyone who is looking for a dermatology clinic in the Germantown area (I believe they also have branches in Bethesda and DC). If you’re a first time patient at the Dermatology Center, I would recommend printing out their new patient forms on their website and have it ready with you for your initial appointment. It makes the processing and wait time so much faster.

I have PCOS!! I so I went in for some obvious issues on my face. I have a history of skin issues but Dr. Lee was ready to wrap up my visit. I felt rushed and he did not take the time to listen to my concerns. so i ended up with a prescription (antibiotic) and topical cream. I could not take more that 10 pills of my antibiotic because i have GERD. Dr. Lee told me to take the med. on a full stomach, Vs. the prescription notice (guide) specify to take the med. on an empty stomach.
I won’t be back there for sure!!!

Worst office staff. Doctors are ok but front desk staff is slow rude and obnoxious. Dont come here wait is long doctors dont spend much time w you they always seem over booked. Dont care about patients. And the girls at the front desk are so rude.

This was simply just an unpleasant, and unnecessarily expensive, ordeal. Not only did they have me with the incorrect doctor/​nurse my first visit, but by my follow-​up visit, the doctor/​nurse I saw on that occasion told me the diagnosis given by the first was completely inaccurate!
I was supposed to have a culture taken and analyzed – to be reviewed between patient and practitioner upon my second visit – and they didn’t even have the results back, when they were the ones who set the date for the follow-​up. So the first visit was completely pointless, but of course I had to pay for both that and the culture, that I never received the results from, by the way, and even though the second doctor/​nurse expressed that it was completely pointless.
When I tried to work out the kinks in this logic of paying for something not received, the office was quite rude and shuffled me around between four different individuals, all with the intent of trying to reach the same person, who ended up not being there in the first place (although I was repeatedly told he was in the office) and who never returned the message I was forced to leave.
Overall, this was not only an inefficient practice by means of medical knowledge, but once someone had an issue, they had no desire to aid in remedying the situation. I, for one, will never go back.

Great staff, always professional, thorough, and amazingly, always on time. Don’t know that I’ve EVER seen a Dr’s office that works on schedule before but these guys do.
What else can I say? My stitches are straight? Oh well, if you’ve got to go see a dermatologist, these guys are great.

Incredibly snooty staff. They act as if they are doing YOU a favor for wanting to drop your money there! Appointments are impossible to get, unless you want to wait for weeks at a time (God forbid you have something acute). Prices for various procedures are very expensive compared to other dermatologists. So if you don’t mind getting down on your knees and BEG them for an appointment, AND pay top dollars, give them a call!

This place is horrible for patient service center. I DO NOT recommend this center for patient seeking both medical dermatology and cosmestic dermatology!!! As a new patient, I expecteds at least a hello from the 5 people I interacted with the day of my visit. I spoke to three receptionists, two nurses, and PA Jennifer Whitman. The only time someone was somewhat nice was when I paid my copay.
The two nurses were rushed and rude, and they were not even busy that day. There were several nurses hanging around the office! The first nurse did not even look at me when she talked. She was busy checking off her list and quickly left the room and told me undress (I was there for a mole check). The other nurse came in and stayed the entire time without introducing herself. (I don’t know about everyone else, but if you’re going to see my in a hospital gown, you need to at least say hello). The 2^nd nurse stayed in the room while I got dressed after my mole check and just continue writing as if I was not in the room. when I was done, she pointed me to the exit door to check out. How rude!!!
As for Jennifer Whitman, she was rushed and I felt she kind of pushed some of the products and services they offered. I understand their primary focus is cosmestics but their website said they also focus on skincare, but I don’t think this is the case. She kept mentioning the laser and botox procedures they offered. The only time the Jennifer kind of perked up was when I asked about a product they sold at the office. It made me felt like she earns commission if patients by any of the products.
Warning – DO NOT GO HERE if you’re looking for a friendly and attentive dermatology center!

The only reason they get four instead of five stars is because it can be hard to get an appointment– sometimes you have to wait weeks– even a month– depending on what you’re coming in for.
Other than that– fabulous! I never have to wait in the waiting room for longer than a few minutes… they always take me on time, which is most appreciated. In fact, one time I had to squeeze in an appointment on my lunch break and didn’t want to be gone for much longer than an hour. When I mentioned this to the ladies at the front, they made every effort to get me in immediately and the doctor and nurse then showed up right away and got started. They got me in and out, and I was back at work right on time! In today’s medical community where the general attitude is pretty much «Screw you, our time is more important than yours,» their efforts to accommodate the patient really stand out.
Two individuals at this practice are particularly outstanding: Dr. Lee, and PA Jennifer Whitman.
I will continue to go here. It doesn’t get much better than this as far as medical offices go.
