The food was only moderately passable. Edible but barely. The tables and the carpet were dirty. Our waitress was sweet and responsive but as I was leaving and wanted to change my son’s diaper, I asked another waitress whether or not there was a changing station in the restroom. She said she didn’t know. Really? She’s never been in the restroom where she works? She quickly became very defensive. I thought that was all very odd. I won’t be returning.

This place is just horrible. Horrible food, dreary setting, cheap in all senses of the word. No one who goes here reads Unilocal,so this review doesn’t matter, but AVOID.

The only thing keeping this place from one-star status is the friendliness of the wait staff. The food is terrible, tables dirty, atmosphere very warm and stuffy, and outside appearance gross. Better off skipping this place.

Go for pie. Forget dinner. I ordered the New York strip steak & it was so tough I could barely cut it with my steak knife. I only ate a few bites. My husband’s prime rib was almost as bad. The chocolate pie was fine.

We have been to Dunlap’s a couple of times and had decent service and decent food. After tonight we will never go back! We camp in Gettysburg as often as we can and normally we go to Hoss’s(highly recommend btw). As it was my birthday I decided dinner of Dunlap’s crab imperial would be nice. We were seated right away and got our drinks. Then we ordered the combination appetizer. After it comes out our nachos turned out to be a crumbled mess of chips(stale) which looked as if someone had upended the last of a bag of tortillas into the plate, there were 3 fried mozzarella sticks(overcooked and lousy cheese), some onion rings and 3 wings. Halfway through we realized there were no fried pickles. Or waitress appeared to inform us our dinner was in the window. Did we want it now or should they keep it warm for us? Having just started on our appetizer we didn’t want to wolf that down to eat our dinner. At this point I had been out of soda for at least 10 minutes. I mentioned to her that the appetizer was wrong and was told they would remove the charge for the pickles, not the appetizer, just the pickle part. Off she went to take care of another table not noticing(or ignoring my empty glass). Not too long after this our dinners that had been under the heat lamp for so long appeared. My mashed potatoes had lost all definition and had puddled on my plate, the crab imperial had a crust on it and a dinner roll had been plopped on top of the mashed potatoes. It wasn’t hot at all. My husband received 2 dried out fried chicken breasts and a roll on his plate. That was it. Attraction to our dinner was a poor 10%. Before our wait person could get away again I had to pointedly ask for a refill on my drink, some margarine for my roll and mashed potatoes. Then she took off again. After we had finished dinner she came back with our bill and this explanation for our($ 10) appetizer’ They gave us extra on our appetizer plate to make up for the missing pickles. No adjustment to the bill. So my husband asks what we got more of? The stale crushed up «nachos»? We were asked if we wanted dessert but there was no way I was staying there to have something else substituted for ice cream. Don’t go near Dunlaps to eat in Gettysburg unless McDonald’s is closed. Even then I think I would opt for a sandwich instead.

I went there for breakfast after searching the Internet for breakfast places in the area. We came to Dunlap’s not knowing really what to expect. The first thing we noticed is the prices are *incredibly* reasonable. The breakfasts were $ 5 all around. $ 30 for six people is very very good for breakfast. Given the prices, we were not really expecting much for food. However, the breakfasts were all great. Our eggs were cooked perfectly to order, the bacon just crispy enough and the sausages hot and cooked all the way through. Our Belgian Waffle was light and fluffy and tasted great with syrup. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for breakfast in Gettysburg.

Could not decide where to eat and my wife said that we had passed this place earlier in the day and that it looked ok, so we went there for dinner on a recent trip to Gettysburg. It is labeled as a steak and seafood place, but it is more of a family diner. It is clean but a little used looking inside. My wife had stuffed chicken, or that is what she ordered. She got turkey, but it was quickly replaced with the correct order. She said it was good. I got a steak and it was ok. Cooked medium as ordered. Sides, green beans, canned, not so great. The prices are very reasonable. I would say that it is not memorable nor is it terrible. Three stars

Disappointing. Service was friendly and fast, which is the ONLY reason I gave two stars. Portions were small, for the price. Ham and cheese omelette with home fries and toast cost $ 2 more than other restaurants in town, and I got less food. Home fries were horribly bland. I won’t be back.

This place was absolutely terrible, save your money! Our family visits Gettysburg every summer and we like to try different places to eat for fun, this place is definitely at the bottom of the list. The servers are friendly and good, however the food is deplorable. My son ordered the fried seafood platter, everything was obviously from the freezer and thrown into some old cooking oil. I ordered the shrimp with crab imperial, the dish came with THREE shrimp! My husband, who has a good appetite, ordered two entrees. Good thing because his fried scallop dish came with eight tiny scallops and his steamed shrimp dish came with about 12 tiny shrimp that were overcooked and impossible to peel. At least they came on a bed of nasty old tired lettuce for garnish. There are so many amazing restaurants in Gettysburg, this place is easily avoidable.

This is a bit off the beaten path, located on Buford near the seminary. Pleasant surprise, the type of restaurant I remember eating at with my grandparents. Homemade pies and soups, in house roasted turkey breast used for sandwiches and dinners. .The soup of the day was chicken dumpling with corn, very tasty. By husband had a hamburger made from fresh ground beef, it was good! My real turkey club sandwich was very good and the bacon was cooked perfectly crisp. The fresh brewed iced tea was refreshing. I had a slice of coconut cream pie my husband had chocolate, they were delicious. Service was attentive. I thought it was a great place for lunch and the dinners sounded delicious. They offer homemade beef pot pies… yummy

So I really wanted some sausage gravy today and Dunlap’s seemed like they would fit the bill. I wish I would have stayed home and had a bowl of cereal. For starters it’s a geriatric mecca. Then I looked at the menu and ordered my sausage gravy and biscuits. Not something easily messed up. Yet someone put forth a tremendous effort and succeeded in doing so. A plate of two biscuits that they didn’t even bother to mix the batter of before cooking. I could tell because of the raw flour in the middle. Then the fluid passed off as gravy… It was brown and that’s where the resemblance ends. It was utterly tasteless. Most likely because of the one solitary piece of sausage on the entire plate. Did I mention that nothing else was on the«platter»? I also watched as other folks ordered and the servers got the food to their table in record time because they just filled the order off the buffet. Then I find out that my meal which costs $ 5.50 was on the buffet for $ 6.75. What a damn rip off! Forget this place! I would never return and I would encourage everyone who reads this review to go around the corner to the little diner in the shopping center.

Family style restaurant in south central PA. I have eaten here once in past five years and I live down the street. Better options in town.

Great family-style place and super affordable. Portions were large, but not too large. The staff were very friendly and it’s not too far off the main street/area in Gettysburg. There is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant.

Are waitress was very nice and friendly but the food was not that great. We had the BBQ pork ribs and stuffed shells. The BBQ ribs were over done and the BBQ sauce tasted watered down. The stuff shells were very salty tasting and I wasn’t a big fan of there marinara sauce.

Being a tourist town, Gettysburg can be rather expensive to dine unless you search out the gems and this restaurant was one of those for us. I am rating this 5 stars because of the overall experience we had here on the 4 or 5 times we visited during our stay. I would say the service is a solid 4 stars. Prompt and courteous. The food was also a solid 4 stars. This is a restaurant that serves simple, tasty, good old fashioned food. We ate there at least once a day and sampled breakfast, lunch and dinner. I appreciated the fact that the meals came with sides OR I could get the salad/soup bar. Now the salad bar is not huge but there were enough choices that I could make a nice sized salad and still stay on my healthy diet. I think what actually pushed me to rate this at 5 stars are the prices. They are very reasonable and given that most Gettysburg food establishments are expensive for my tastes, this place was actually ridiculously cheap. The next time we visit Gettysburg, this is the FIRST place we will eat as I like to strictly budget food dollars.

OK alternative to the more tourist oriented venues in the center and south end of town. Breakfast offerings include egg white selections. Grits were overcooked. Breakfast for two totaled $ 15.

Impressed. Great hand patted burger. Great service! The other reviews on here are pretty harsh… not sure why. I enjoyed a great lunch on Saturday and came back Sunday morning for breakfast. Both great meals and friendly service. Good value in my opinion!

The food here is very good, and reasonably prices as well. The Breakfast Specials remind me of what I use to get in the Diner back in Long Island City, NY with the Home Fries and the Eggs anyway that you want them. The Lunch and Dinner food is very good as well. Been here several times when the Family and I come up to Gettysburg from VA to visit the town and the National Battlefield here. It’s better than what you would get at the ‘Tourist’ Restaurants in both parts of Gettysburg, like around Lincoln Square and over on the Main Strip over by the Battlefield. If anyone goes up to Gettysburg in the near future, you have to stop by there and try the food there. Also you can see their prices on here through their website to see that they are very inexpensive.
