The bread from Gettysburg Baking Co. is absolutely superb. The seeded twists are our favorite, & the raisin brioche is close behind. Our experience with the business side of the operation, though, is hit or miss. Today we asked for a loaf of walnut bread. When we got it home & sliced it, there wasn’t a walnut to be found. The server had given us olive bread. Aaarrrggghhh.

This place blew my mind!!! We stopped in on First Friday, what a great experience! The staff was so friendly and courteous! We had a Roasted Veggie Sandwich, a side a Greek couscous, and some beyond delicious focaccia bread. What a great find! We will be going back forever and cannot wait to try more of their offerings! A great place to stop for lunch on the square!

This bakery has bread and pastries that as good as any you would find in New York. TRULYEXCELLENT. Yes, quality artisan baked goods will a little more than the crap you’d normally see. Worth it. Such a great place… I wish there was more seating.

I was not impressed with this stop. The food was alright, and the older woman was sweet but there was a little girl working there who was not nice at all. It’s not her fault, I understand she is young, but she was downright rude. A friend I was with bought coffee and did not know(having been her first time there) that she had to go to the side and serve herself coffee. When she asked the child who rang her up she was completely ignored. I picked up a bag of peppermint bark they were selling and asked my friends if they were in the mood for chocolate and the little girl laughed about it to her friend saying how«stupid I was for not knowing it was called bark», then was mildly surprised when I called it bark the second time I referred to it. We avoided this stop the rest of our stay in Gettysburg.

The place is small but do not like that discourage you from going! I had the roasted veggie sandwich and my boyfriend had the adult grilled cheese. Both were so good! We split the chocolate crossiant which was perfect. Cannot wait to go back!

As far as bakeries go, the Gettysburg Baking Co is top notch. As far as bakeries *in Gettysburg* go, this place is THEBEST. I’m only sad that they weren’t on the square sooner! I’ve only tried their sandwiches once so far, and I got the bialy with cream cheese and lox. It was really good! Since you still cannot get fresh bagels in Gettysburg, bialys are a close substitute and work in this situation. It came with a delicious little deviled egg as a side. There’s some limited seating inside, but it’s not the same coffeeshop chill-out vibe as the Ragged Edge. My friend and I sat just outside on a bench to eat our sandwiches. Their fresh loaves of bread are so pleasingly crunchy on the outside and soft and heavenly on the inside that you wonder how you ever ate bagged sandwich bread from the grocery store. I’m a big fan of the seeded twist and their cider-house rye. I love love LOVE the raspberry cheese danish. The pecan diamond is just like a handheld slice of toothsome pecan pie. And any of their cookies are just decadent. I’m partial to the double chocolate chip. As an avid baker and pastry enthusiast, it’s pretty uplifting to walk into a bakery like this one. EVERYTHING they make tastes wonderful and looks beautiful. I hope this bakery thrives on the square! People living and working in Gettysburg are lucky ducks :)

Wow! Lunch here is golden. On the advice of many friends I tried this terrific bread shop for lunch and had the roast beef sandwich with onions, lettuce, and horseradish on the freshest baguette imaginable. It looked to me like they had wonderful artisan breads behind the counter and tasty pasteries.

I’ve been here twice so far. The first time i had the banh mi, and i have to say i was very disappointed. The bread the sandwich was on was extremely difficult to bite through and the filling had no seasoning. I was so bummed that the same week my fiancé and I made our own banh mi for dinner so i could get my fix. However, today I had an amazing pecan diamond on my lunch break. I was going to save it for dinner but i couldn’t wait. It was like the best pecan pie ever but with a buttery delicious crust and no edge. I’m thinking my description isn’t doing it justice. I also had the herbed chicken sandwich and potato salad. Potato salad was perfect with bacon, fresh herbs and a nice diced cut. The sandwich was pretty good but could have used some salt. Roasted tomatos were a nice touch. In the past I’ve been lucky enough to have their seeded twist which is amazing. Hope this helps!

Coffee and pastries for breakfast from the Gettysburg Baking co. Good way to start the day. Nicely brewed coffee and sticky bun was excellent. Would recommend

New location in town. The menu is small and there is definitely potential to grow. I ordered the adult grilled cheese with the kale and beet salad. I could probably consume that salad by the bucket! Two people came in from Brooklyn while I was there to get bread, because they heard it was the best around.

So as to not confuse anyone, this is their second location, the other one is in Biglersville PA. The Gettysburg Baking Co is quite a find. We stopped in whole pursuing some of the local wine shops her in Gettysburg and while at their neighbors(Hauser Estate Winery) we decided it would be best if we ate something to go along with a glass of wine or hard craft cider. I particularly love small proprietor owned bakeries because they pay attention to the craft, science, and quality of their products instead of the quantity for the masses that larger bakeries cater to. In this Gettysburg Bakery did not disappoint!!! As we entered the shop we were first greeted with the delicious aromas wafting through the air of fresh baked goods and then by the shopkeeper. The menu is storewide blackboard(see pic). While the menu is not extensive it still took us a few minutes to decide because everything sounded so delightfully delicious. My wife settled on the open face«Avocado tartine» on sourdough, and I on the«Bohn Mi» on rustic French bread, both served with a very tasty and delicious picked slaw of beets and kale. To finish we decided on splitting a pastry and we opted for the«Chocolate croissant», which was light crispy with decadent dark chocolate inside and laced on the outside with a sprinkle of powdered sugar on one end. While extremely good, it was not as buttery as I would expect a croissant to be.(My love of croissants are expressed in my review of Evergrain Baking Company, Chestertown Maryland). But let me tell you that an Unilocaler, Elite or not that comes to Gettysburg would delight in the baked goods crafted by the Gettysburg Bakery. I can guarantee that we enjoy their delightful products on our next return
