Spacious tavern with outside seating. Breakfast is preceded by a small dish of fresh fruit and a small waffle. This is a thoughtful and classy way to start a breakfast and one that is rare in my experience. Other breakfasts that I have experienced here have been very good. This morning I had the 2by, 2by, 2by. I asked for French toast to substitute for the pancakes. The eggs and the bacon were very good but the French toast was very flat and chewy, almost as though it had been pre-cooked then reheated in a microwave oven. To add to that the butter and the syrup were not quite room temperature with the result that they both cooled the terrible French toast to the point where the butter would not melt, leaving me with a tough, congealed stack of bread. The lesson I took away from this was to never order French toast at the Hy Iu Hee Hee. Three three stars is for good service and the otherwise good food.

Meh. Less than good service, mediocre food, price high for quality. Poker games Weds nights, pool, darts. Not my place. Go to Flotation Device for local tavern or The Tides for pub food with a view at same prices.

Delicious breakfast! Based on a recommendation from a friend I went here for breakfast this morning. Our server made us feel welcome the minute we walked in and kept the coffee cups and water glasses filled. She brought a complimentary dish of fresh fruit and a mini Belgian waffle while we reviewed the menu. The waffle was to die for and the fruit was fresh and delicious — melons, citrus, grapes, berries and pineapple — no canned fruit cocktail. And these items are free! I had the 2×2×2 which was very reasonably priced and filling. The pancakes were tender and well flavored and I could tell the batter was freshly made. Don’t let the name«tavern» fool you… this is a clean, family-friendly spot with yummy food and wonderful service. I’ll be back — with more friends the next time.

It’s been 10 yeas since I was here last and now I know why it’s been that long. Service is super slow. I waited after sitting down at a table 20 min to have my order taken and additional 30 min to get my food. I ordered the patty melt, cheese was only on half of my sandwich. The onions were raw and not grilled, the bread tasted old.

Ate their last Saturday for breakfast, it was good. We had a fruit bowl and it was fresh. Then they gave us a small waffle before ordering. I ordered the western omelette it was good. They ran out of milk so that was not good, but a sweet lady went to get more I was finished by the time she got back, but she was checking on us coffee was refilled, I will eat their again.

I had an after work get together here, on a Tuesday(which happened to be trivia tuesday). Service was slow, but the place was packed with retired people there for«trivia». We’ve been here a couple other times and had a good time, so we weren’t expecting to get yelled at by the Mc for having my cell phone on the table. I had checked it to see if my kids had called, and she had the whole bar boo at me for cheating on their trivia(which we weren’t even participating in). I was shocked at the way we were treated. We were going to buy food, but after getting booed, we paid for our drinks and left. Our server felt terrible for us.

Great service, solid food. Dont expect a bunch of foodies here(thank goodness) but do expect to get a solid meal at a solid price.

I chose the Fish and Chips basket where the menu clearly says«served with fries, cup of soup or salad.» The bar tender said it was wrong and that if I wanted the soup I couldn’t have the«chips» part of the basket. She needs to be educated by management! Also, the beer was a little warm. I probably won’t come again.

We come over from Puyallup a couple times a year to have pizza here with my folks. We come during the day on a weekend and it’s not packed and noise is low. We come for the pizza! Awesome pizza at this place. Service is good and friendly. I will say if you order pizza for pickup they charge 50 cents each pizza as a To Go fee. I’m not a fan of ticky tacky charges so that pisses me off. But that is the only bad thing I can say.

Been here a few times and we always have great experiences. Friendly, reasonable lunch with good brews on tap. They have a nice patio and good options for the kids too. Just added breakfast and oysters so we will keep coming back!

What a pleasant surprise. Unilocal shows it opens at 11 when in fact they open at 6. GREST breakfast and great service!

Breakfast used to be the bomb. Now, not so much. Last two times in had to remind the server about the napkins, small plates, flatware, and the coffee we ordered. Eggs requested over-easy weren’t. And, the pancakes were blond and rubbery. And, gone are the days of the waffle served before breakfast. Now all that is served is a miserly mini-bite — would have been better to eliminate altogether, rather than looking like a miser. More sad than disappointed at the changes.

My husband I go to this restaurant often… It is one of four of our favorite choices in the Harbor. They often have a steak, bake potato and salad special that is very reasonably priced and tastes really good… and the drink pours are very generous for the price. The last time we were there we started talking to the owner who told us that she had recently taken the restaurant back and was running it again. She mentioned that they were serving breakfast and that we should try it. We talked to some friends and decided to try it this morning. The seven of us arrived at 9 a.m. and there were already several tables full of people. We sat down and each of us were served a small bowl of fruit and our beverage of choice. While we were waiting for what we ordered, several waffles were brought to the table so we could«munch on them until our breakfast came». Many of us at the table thought that was a full breakfast… but then what we ordered arrived. Everyone enjoyed that too(many clean plates among us) As we were leaving, all of the tables were full, and people were pouring in to the parking lot. We will be back! The breakfast was great! I don’t think I have had a better breakfast in Gig Harbor. Just don’t come too late… or you will have to wait for a table. Kudos to the owner and her staff… all of whom were friendly and hardworking!

For many years, this bar has been one of the few good bars to go to in Gig Harbor. Recently, however, the owners have really let it go down hill. There used to be two pool tables. Now there is just one and it is in very bad shape. There used to be a good crowd here. Now it has devolved into an older local crowd that can be more trouble than it’s worth. The food… Well the food has never been good, but it is passable for bar food. The only redeeming quality for this bar is this the staff. They are some of the nicest people I have ever encountered in a bar. I only wish the ownership would get it together and improve the upkeep.

Fantastic food! A group of 3 of us attended this place around 2 weeks ago and were very impressed with the food quality, prices, and staff. Overall, the place could use some updating design wise but none the less, it’s worth going to. Try their amazing burgers!

Being in Gig Harbor, new places are few and far between. I know this place isn’t new, so don’t immediately come down on me, but it was new to me. My girlfriend and I went and checked the place out of a Sunday afternoon and it was a so-so experience. First off, the décor of the place is kinda strange. I have seen antlers used in bars before and it looks good, but they had one pair of antlers in the whole place, so it was very odd to see. The flow of the place was a little strange as well and maybe its different when there are bands or at night, but for lunch, it just caught my attention. The service was very good. I don’t remember her name but she was very attentive and friendly. The food on the other hand wasn’t very good. We got a calzone and the french dip. The ingredients inside the calzone were good, but the dough was horrible. The french dip was also sub par as the roast beef was a little strange tasting and the bread was also pretty bad. As mentioned, we came in for lunch and it was steady which suggests that the place is pretty good. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things so we’ll have to try it again.

This place is great, especially if you love beer, a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and if you stay at the nearby Gig Harbor RV Resort. My wife and I walked here to have a night cap each night of our stay and were very happy with the selection of beer. The Lucille IPA is outstanding and just one of about 10 on tap. One night we ordered the potato skins, which were also good. We may have been a little«intoxerated» at the point we ordered them, but hey, we were walking home so no big deal :) We came the second night hoping to play pool. There were two tables and one was out of order. The other was played continuously so we never had the chance. Oh well, more time to drink beer. We will stop here each night we stay at the RV resort. There is plenty of space and great times to be had.

I have been to the Hy-Lu-Hee-Hee many times in the pass. They have a weekly Tuesday night trivial game and we get together as a group of friend and go. The place is usually packed with game players so you need to get there early to find seating. There is a happy hour with samples of free pizzas that they make fresh on sight. Each group has their own unique names ours is the Fugawies with a whole new story behind the name. They usually play four games with the forth a jackpot that will grow each week without a winner. For every game there is a $ 25 prize that can be used that night or later for your bill. They started serving breakfast there and last Sunday morning was the first time I had an opportunity to tried it. I have a friend who invited me there from an early morning breakfast. We where there about 8:15am and there was only one other couple there, so that was a concern. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant to us and our needs. Even before we ordered the owner who happen to be on sight sent out two separate bowls of fresh fruit what a pleasant surprise. The friend who I was having breakfast with was friends with the owner, so that may have something to do with the bowls of fruit. There is a very good breakfast menu selection available. We selected the scramble special with many ingredients included in there dish. The order was large enough along with a biscuit or toast for us to split. The experience was very good including the food flavors, portions, and services. I will have no hesitation go back for breakfast and introduce others to it as well. Thanks…Hugh
