June Akiyama recently helped us find a home in Gig Harbor, WA. We’ve moved a dozen times and worked with realtors in five states, and June is on of the top realtors we’ve known — she is a pleasure to work with and you can be confident that she will understand your needs and work patiently through whatever comes up in the buying process. We were relocating from out of state, and had no knowledge of the Gig Harbor area. We were on a tight timeline, wanting to determine location before our kids started school, so they would not have to switch schools mid-​year. As a family, we were very indecisive — big yard vs. small yard, traditional neighborhood vs. a more private location, fixer vs. move-​in ready, even our price point was not nailed down. June gave us a tour of Gig Harbor and described the various areas, and answered our questions about other locations we were exploring, including Poulsbo, Bainbridge, and Silverdale. June showed us everything on the market in our target area within a $ 100 K price point spread. After looking at several dozen properties, we put in an offer and negotiated back and forth, coming to agreement; but then we changed our minds, deciding that the property’s many levels would not work well for our extended family, who we expected to visit frequently. June understood and patiently worked with us as we continued the search, moving forward with another home several weeks later; she helped us negotiate the price, connect with the HOA and neighbors to get answers to our many questions, and then met us at the property for the home inspection, while we also met contractors to get estimates on fencing and expanding the house. The home inspection was great, the house was solid. However, we decided that due to the cost of expansion and proximity to neighbors, it was not the house for us, and again we pulled out of the contract.
Throughout our intensive search, June made phone calls to ask questions, get details, and investigate many homes that we had questions about. She continued to show us any property we were interested in seeing. She offered helpful suggestions and asked incisive questions to help us narrow our focus. She was professional in all of her communication with other realtors and professionals in the industry. She was easy to reach, and responsive; she was friendly and supportive and worked well with our two children too who were along for the home search most of the time.
Immediately after backing out of our second contract, we found a property that met my husband’s strong wishes for privacy and space, yet is within a neighborhood of homes (which I wanted); and has a giant yard for the kids to play and garden. We were under contract before school began. The price point was on the lower end of our range. She managed the closing process without a hitch and we felt well prepared each step of the way. We were delighted.
June is ethical, knowledgeable, patient, a great listener, energetic, and really knows the area. I would highly recommend working with June Akiyama in Gig Harbor, Poulsbo, Tacoma, or the surrounding area, to buy, sell or invest in real estate. I can not commend her services highly enough.
