We went here for dinner after a full day of shopping at the outlets. The fried chicken is better than KFC’s but the plates and utensils always have remaining food on them.

We went here for dinner after a full day of shopping at the outlets. My husband enjoyed their bbq pork spareribs while I feasted on their fried chicken and baked chicken. Some plates and utensils were a little dirty. However, what sets this place apart was their employee’s honesty. Because of a long day and having to feed my kids, I left my new Iphone on the table. 10 minutes driving in the freeway, I called them to check if they have my phone. And sure enough the person who answered said he got it. When I walked in the guy immediately handed my phone back. Good food, great service, will definitely come back.

LOL NEVER AGAIN. Their eating utensils (plates/​forks/​spoons etc) were filthy. The food was terrible. For a «buffet» they have a very small selection of food. I’m so unpleased that just thinking that we actually paid for that makes me angry. I can’t even finish explaining my experience. I was so disturbed by how dirty everything was and how gross their food was.

Worst HomeTown buffet I’ve ever been too food was cold and disgusting! Utensils where dirty and people where rude. The chicken soup was gross. Chicken was pink and gross. Super unsanitary. Never coming back!!! Oh & where they had the bowls for soup & ice cream was so filthy. I told a employee cause there was no more bowls & she didn’t even clean if she just stacked more.

Really disappointed!!! I would give it a zero star review if I could, but I can’t :(Anyways… There meatloaf does not taste like beef, it tastes like rat or something. They have very little options off food. Definitely not worth my $ 9 dollars. Their rice with meat and their fried chicken was really really salty. I don’t know how this place is still in Buisness. This place was a waste of my time and money.

Oh. Wow. I got a refund. Didn’t even eat the food. No clean plates. Another customer was walking around with a paper plate.
The Mexican Food station was nearly empty and the beans and meat that were left were dried to the inside of the containers. The only full container was the mashed potatoes.
I’m not quite sure why the place is still in business, or why the manager didn’t bother to ask why I was requesting a refund…

whats going on here… so sloppy… everything looks like its been sitting for a long time… dessert station is ultra messy. looks disgusting… i want my money back… thats how bad it is at this location…

My friends and I always hit up this place on the way back to the Bay Area from a day of playing airsoft in Marina. We are or at least I am well aware of the ratings from people who have come here and frankly have very low expectations for this place every time I set foot in here.
Call it luck but we always had good customer service. I have not had the misfortune of picking up a dirty plate or utensil but that’s maybe because I always CHECK. If its dirty, set it aside.
Food is barely palatable but again I am not expecting «ok» food anyway. Salad is a bit on the brown side the last time I was there as too so I skipped it. Meat from the carving station is just ok, chicken is dry and gets worse as it sits under the heat lamp. All the other entrees taste like what they are: commercially prepared, institution grade food.
Now with all these negative reviews including mine why do we keep coming back here? Well, after a day of playing airsoft, this is the only place we could find that would fill our bellies until we couldn’t eat anymore and come in sweaty, dirty and smelly and no one bats an eye. Once my friends and I find a better place to eat we’ll be there instead.
Consider all these poor reviews as a wake up call owner and operator of Home Town Buffet of 7950 Arroyo Cir, Gilroy, CA 95 020! Do something about this. But I am guessing as long as people keep walking through the front door, nothing will change.

This is one of most nastiest food I have ever smelled. I went to get a plate of food it was cold, the steam was only from hot water not from the food if it hit them in the face. Doesnt even have a good variety choices. Couldnt eat, the smell and taste was disgusting we got our money back and walked out in 10 minutes. These people here do not know the quality of good food worth money. What they should do is make meals for the needy better off. and dontate cooked meals instead of wasting potentially «good» restaurant to take over. but my friends and family will NEVER EVER waste any money in this place again.

This place SUCKS like bleep, not only does it have bad service, but very low quality food. I would give it negative five stars if I could. The employees seem like they have no concern for anything and they take forever to take out food. And the food is horrible, it tastes sooooo bad and flavorless. And everything in that restraunt is sticky. The ice bar is a MESS, they definitely should clean it more often. Ice cream was all over the place with sprinkles here and there, enough take you drop your appetite. And do they really expect us to eat off of dirty plates? Don’t waste your money on this «restraunt» and you’ll thank me later.

This place is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to place is so dirty and there was literally no food will never return sad thing was the owner was there and didn’t do anything to correct things

This place needs new management and more than 1 manager. They have 1 longtime server who’s working her ****off. I’m here for breakfast and this place is empty. Need condiments and a lot of food items are missing.
This place is struggling. Someone please help.

Don’t waste your money going to this HB! If you want to eat food like this might as well just go to prison plus it’s free over there. I could’ve gone to Costco and paid $ 1.50 for a hot dog with a drink and I would’ve been more satisfied than with HB shitty food (not many options). In addition, the soda and Ice cream machines weren’t working. They had no fruit! All I saw was bananas dipped in some red sauce. The chicken noodle soup was way too salty. The cheesecake was disgusting, it tasted like old pudding. If I could throw up the food and get my money back, I so would.

I wasn’t expecting much as it being hometown buffet but OH MY GOD !!! The food was really dry, hard and flavorless. So I decided to try their salad bar and turns out all their salad mix was very brown. F****g disgusting!!! So i asked to speak to the manager and didn’t even come to the front to speak to me. This place wasn’t like this, what happened?!
Never coming again, worst decision I’ve made all day!!! Step up your game HB
Doesn’t deserve not even one star!

Waited in line from 10:45 — 11:10 and they were suppose to open at 11! Over 6 people waiting at door and several more in their cars! I went to Applebee’s since I was hungry.

Below par for sure. yes it’s hometown buffet and no I wasn’t expecting a dining extravaganza. I was given misinformation on the phone before I got there and it went downhill from there.
won’t be coming back to this location.

Oh my goodness, please, please, PLEASE don’t come here! I genuinely regret ignoring the Unilocal reviews, because I thought maybe people were just being rough, but this place is terrible. I didn’t have high expectations– it’s a Hometown Buffet– but goodness, this business is the freaking butt of all Hometown Buffets. I wish I could’ve seen the food first before paying. Nothing was good. Everything was cold. Nothing was the least bit tasty after trying. There is absolutely no quality food in there.
There was an employee cutting meat at the «self-​cutting» station cutting up what looked like roast beef, so my mom asked him to cut her a piece, and he ended up dropping the piece of meat on the corner of the dirty counter and STILL placing it on my mom’s plate. What the heck? Disgusting!
The walls next to the table stalls are peeling, and some of the corners have spider webs, some plates were dirty and smelled weird, it smelled like a dirty bathroom in the dining area, and the floors were super dirty. The waitresses, however, were really friendly. I feel so, so bad that they have to work here.
I ended up eating mac ‘n cheese, chicken, steamed vegetables, fries, some kind of soup, carrot cake, and ice cream. I had food poisoning the next day.
Also, $ 60 for 3 adults and 1 child??? I could have easily taken that money to in-​n-​out burger and eaten WAY BETTER than I did on that visit to Hometown. Or taken it to the Applebee’s down the street! Or heck, I could’ve had a nicer dinner at McDonald’s. ANYTHING is better than this Hometown Buffet. Never coming back. Don’t bother wasting money here!

From their poor excuse for chicken pot pie
To rubbery mac and cheese and boney chicken breast that scratched my mothers throat.
The only positive was their desserts
And even then it had to be smothered in frozen yogurt.
I could tell alot of the food had been sitting out all day from open till we arrived at 645pm.
I wasnt surprised that most of the patrons were elderly and kids under ten for that is all that could stomach their excuse for food.
For this review to change
They would have to step up their game.
One major thing they could do is…
Trade out the trays thruout the day so food dosent dry out.
Make chicken pot pie the right way… not the cheesy smelly goop in a Petri dish.
We will not be returning to this location.
I sincerely hope that they fix what is wrong so others dont have the same experience we had.

Well, it’s not the best buffet, but HomeTown Buffet has the all the staples of American comfort food. And for just $ 14, it’s easy to get your money’s worth here.
First off, pass on the BBQ Chicken, dry and really not much else.
Now the good stuff:
Fried Chicken was good!
The Steaks were good but go really fast.
I totally attacked the Taco Station. I think I must’ve built about 6 tacos. EPIC tacos because they were made by me!
Unlimited ICEE!!! You can’t go wrong with that!
All in all, not bad!
