The Garlic World employees seemed surprised when we stopped here, apparently the BBQ hadn’t been around for awhile.

Don’t know what to say. It’s a low key kitchen inside a tourist trap shop, Garlic World. Portion was small for the price. The best thing I can say is the barbecue was average. It was edible. But this place doesn’t qualify as a «restaurant.»

Very sweet people! Support this venue because they are working to support good causes, helping the homeless and prison inmates. Stop by for some great hospitality and food! And ask them about their mission while you’re at it.

Stopped by based on all the glowing reviews. Was told that the place is closed and they are looking for a new company or person to start BBQing again. Just sorry I missed it. Putting in three stars just so this is up so others don’t waste their time coming to a place that’s no longer. I hope they find another company to take its place that knows how to barbecue.

The food was delicious and the costumer service was outstanding. The guys at the counter helped us pick our sandwich and then came out to see how everything was. Went back and the guy at the grill came over with pulled pork and the with fresh bbq sauce. I was not expecting this kind of food or service from a fruit stand. Good job guys! Keep up the great work!

After my sister told me she had the best BBQ of her life here, I had been meaning to check this place out myself and see what all the fuss is about. Though I am local to the area I had never thought to stop in Garlic World off of 101 that pretty much just looks like a side of the road shop selling garlic souvenirs. And though this is primarily a store selling every possible thing about the stinking rose, there is a BBQ joint located inside called Legacy BBQ. My husband and I were out Sunday adventuring one day and decided to finally try this place out. Orders are put in at a counter inside the store, make sure you bring cash as they don’t accept cards, or use the ATM that’s located inside. Note that this isn’t a sit down restaurant, but a counter selling BBQ. There are a few picnic tables outside for seating and that’s it. So if you’re looking for a slightly more scenic view than the traffic on 101, you may want to take your order to go. We both opted for the Garlic World TriTip sandwich which according to the guy working there is their best seller. And it did not disappoint. This TriTip sandwich served on garlic bread in a peppery sauce was the most tender one I’ve ever had. None of that T-Rex action flinging meat around when you take a bite! Portions are big, I’m an eater and did not make it through both halves much to the joy of my husband. Pretty sure this will become a regular spot for us whenever we are in the Gilroy area and my waistline will hate me for it.

This BBQ place inside of Garlic World had some pretty tasty sandwiches! Really one of the best tri-tip sandwiches that I have ever eaten. Nice and med. rare, smoky-tasting, with a yummy garlic spread on the french roll.(I think my sandwich was called The Garlic World tri-tip)…my husband had the pulled pork and said it was VERY good, too. A third member of our party had another type of sandwich with tri-tip and a hot link and some other stuff on it and he said it was mighty fine tastin’ as well. Friendly service, too! You have to eat outside at their tables under the awning or take the sandwiches to go. Oh, and CASHONLY folks!

Hey! This place is good! The Chicken, Beef, Links. are good! I don’t eat pork, but others say the ribs are good! The folks there are very accommodating! The garlic bread is good as well as the tacos! Just bring cash, or use the ATM machine inside the store, they don’t take ATM cards yet, but maybe they will later!

Tritip sandwhich and tacos are awesome! Meat is high quality and always super tender! We don’t love their sauces but, their meat quality makes them the best bbq place in town. Would definitely recommend.

I really wanted to like this place a lot more than what my actual experience was. Service was top notch, as the gentleman taking the order from behind the counter seemed to know his regulars and still treated me(though first time), like one of them. He did ask me if I really love garlic, so he slathered the top of the ribs with additional sauce and did give me garlic bread(free?). Ribs were tender and fall off the bone, but unfortunately, wasn’t that wowed by the slather or sauce. I could taste the garlic, but wasn’t blowing me out of the water. The garlic bread was quite good too, especially to mop up the sauce. Since I do make the drive once in a while, I will be back for more wares and hopefully there’s a bit more kick on the sauce on my next visit. I believe place is cash only, so, try to bring that prior to coming here to avoid ATM charges.

I don’t write many reviews on Unilocal, but this place is amazing. I’ve had BBQ in KC, the carolinas and south… and Legacy is equal if not better. Best Tri tip sandwich… especially with the habanero pepper plant sauce.

Excellent stop for some delicious smoked BBQ. Our family split the regular family pack and it was more than enough for the three of us. My father exclaimed«this is the best smoked chicken I’ve ever had; so moist and cooked to perfection.» He was quite excited that we ended up here instead of famous Dave’s. And it’s right next to garlic world where my mother ended up buying half the store! Slightly disappointed that they were out of ribs especially on a Friday. This place is literally located right on the 101 freeway. If you aren’t paying attention you’ll fly right past it. Highly recommend the smoked chicken and the tri-tip. We will be coming back next time we drive through Gilroy.

OMG. Stopped on the way back to SoCal for some fresh garlic and found the cutest BBQ spot, so we figured what the heck, why not? Had the garlic tri tip sandwich, the meat was cooked to perfection. Garlic spread was to die for. Will stop again fo sho on my next trip up. FYI: business is cash only but there is an atm conveniently located inside Garlic World. ENJOY!

I was a little on the fence about trying this place because it replaced the other bbq that was here called Heaven’s Flava but once I saw the reviews I felt I should give it a chance. I decided to take that long drive to Gilroy to give it a go, when I pulled up there was a long line of people waiting so I thought to myself that’s a good sign. When I walked up to the counter and saw all those flies that should have been my first clue to get the hell out of there but i stayed. Smh. I ordered the Tri-Tip platter which came with pinto beans and garlic bread and they threw in a chicken thigh too. The tri tip looked very well seasoned but it tasted kinda weird like it wasn’t very tender and i couldn’t distinguish the flavor and spices used, the pinto beans were bland but the garlic bread was actually very good that was the only thing I liked. Oh I didn’t eat the chicken thigh because it had sort of a red tint to it, that was very odd. I’m so disappointed in this place and all the ranting and raving about this place that it was so good and it totally did not meet my espectations and I will not be returning.

Amazing ribs and garlic bread. We asked about the garlic bread spread and apparently it is the owners own concoction. Cant wait to try their sandwhiches. A must stop every time!

I’m vegan(ish) and couldn’t stop dipping the bread in the homemade BBQ sauce. Amazing! The portions were generous and the prices were very inexpensive. Samples were even offered. The folks running the operation were very friendly and welcoming. We’re from Sacramento and plan to return soon.
