Found this place because they put a menu in the door of my house, gave it a try, fairly standard food but the big bonus was they delivered. Big problem though is dealing with the delivery, You can place orders online which works great when the food shows up or they can run your card, and even if they do show up sometimes its an 1.5+ hours later. But if there are any issues no one in the place speaks any English making it impossible to get anything straightened out over the phone. Who ever answers if they need someone that speaks English seems to go next door and grab someone from one of the other businesses that speaks English but has no idea whats going on with your order nor do they speak the same language of who ever answers the phone. Makes the whole time a huge mess then all you can do it hope they don’t charge you and show up three hours later.

Coming into Gilroy, I noticed there was a Mongolian BBQ next to Subway. I decided to give it a chance considering their overall 3 stars. I was politely greeted by a man and quickly seated for a table, as I went to go check out the buffet area. I have to say I was a bit more impressed with the freshness and variety of the vegetables provided for the Mongolian bbq portion. I didn’t get to look at the meat for quality, since I am partially vegetarian(during weekdays). But I have to say it is kept away for freshness. They have a a fair selection of entrees(i.e. Kung pao chicken, sweet&sour pork, beef broccoli, lemon chicken?) as well as chow mein and fried rice which both are of fair quality as well. I did not notice any fly problems when I was there(as mentioned in one of the other reviews). I really like how good mannered the 2 men who were working there today. The table is constantly checked for leftover plates and cleared out of the way, so customers can continue to eat without feeling cluttered.

the food was yummy! the only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars were the plates for the buffets — they didn’t seem entirely clean ;/but customer service is great and the food was good!

Selection of items isnt the biggest but the service is great in addition to the fair price for unlimited! I actually crave for this place for the fried rice, egg rolls and mongolian noodles.

I went to Ling’s recently on a whim after seeing one of their mailers that advertised a very low price all you can eat Chinese/Mongolian BBQ buffet(under $ 10). The restaurant is located in a slightly lower rent shopping center; it’s a storefront setup and it’s somewhat divey(older furniture, peeling paint, etc). I walked in about ten minutes after opening and at that point the food was all steaming and fresh and I was the only person present(although that changed fairly quickly as I sat and ate). The Chinese buffet was excellent; the food tasted great and there was a good selection. I was particularly impressed with their ‘crab paste’ wontons, the lemon chicken, and their egg drop soup. I was less impressed with the Mongolian BBQ buffet. It had a great selection of vegetables and the traditional noodles and oils/sauces, but the only meat available was a single pan of mixed seafood that appeared to be calamari and crab(or more likely imitation crab). I’m used to a more expanded meat selection(beef, pork, chicken, etc) and I wasn’t really interested in even trying it with seafood.(Note to self: I think I need a refresher course in Geography. Do they eat a lot of seafood in Mongolia?) All in all while I was disappointed in the Mongolian BBQ, I’d have to say the all you can eat Chinese buffet was easily worth the crazy low price — and if you’re a fan of seafood Mongolian BBQ(or if they happen to have different meats on different days, perhaps?) it can only get better from there.

The food was good but I couldn’t get over the fact of many flies and the owner swatting and squishing as I was eating. Then the towel they used to wipe fly guts off the back splash was reused to clean off the tables. My suggestion would be for them to close the doors to somewhat prevent the multitude of flies from entering and crawling all over the food.

Okay so we came here on a whim because I don’t know why. Anyway, in the middle of our meal the lady there hands me her phone to take an order for her. Not kidding. Never having worked in a Chinese restaurant before I thought it was awesome. My husband laughed his ass off at me. The map to the restaurant on the menu left on my doorstep has more incorrectly spelled street names than correctly spelled ones, and my husband’s fortune cookie had two fortunes; mine had none. The food is awful, but the experience was great. I laughed more tonight than I have all week. Thank you Lings(the name on one part of the building) or Pings(the name on another part of the building).

I dont think the other reviews are very fair. But they are right about the other food aside from the bbq portion. I mostly eat vegan so i didnt even touch the stuff but jus looking at it hurt my eyes. For the price, i dont think you can beat it. you got subway next door which is crap. for the same price or less, you can eat as much as you can. all i eat is fruits and veggies so to find a place like this was great for a quick meal. not very exciting but satisfying. when im in gilroy again, i will definitely be back.

When I lived in San Jose, there was a Mongolian BBQ place that was literally to KILL for. The place isn’t much to look at, but it’s absurdly incomparable to any other Mongolian BBQ I’ve ever been to. I still go to it on occasion, but it would be nice if there was a good one here, in Gilroy. So, I eyed this restaurant(Ling’s) one day while in the shopping center it resides in. I decided to return and try it out. When I first entered the place, there was no one to be found. Not a customer or staff. I noted a fly swatter on one of the tables. I was just about to leave(wish I had), when one of the guys came out of the restroom. So… I was«stuck». I was there on a mission, anyway. So, I noted the fly swatter, and next got to note the dozens of drain flies flying around the food. At least one of the sauces had a dead fly in it, too. The BBQ wasn’t cooked bad, but the«meat» was behind the counter and given out in «portions» of their choosing. To be fair, they weren’t stingy with quantity, at all. However, the QUALITY of the meat is a different story. I’m not even sure it was meat(maybe it was fake vegan«meat»?). Extremely thin slices of SOMETHING that didn’t look the correct color. Bizarre. It didn’t taste to well, either. The guys behind the counter were affable, but one of them(the one from the bathroom) handed me my fork by holding the spears instead of the handle(!!!). I can only hope and pray he washed his hands thoroughly. I also had to fight off a fly at my table. I noted that the thermostat read 80. A little air conditioning would go a LONG way into curing a heat problem and the fly problem. But, I guess you need to have customers first in order to afford it. In short, I just wanted to get out of there ASAP. I didn’t eat my entire first serving as a result.

I am surprised this place is in business. First of all the place is very small. Food selection is also small. Most of which is old, dried out or doesn’t taste well. Or all the above. Did I mention the flies? Yes you get to swat at flies as you try to eat. The best thing there is the Mongolian BBQ. Again, that is not saying much. The meat choices are chicken or beef. The price is cheap I will say that for them. However, It is still not worth it in my opinion. My advice is definitely go somewhere else.

Got an add for Lings in the mail advertising Delivery. Tonight I made the poor, desperately lazy choice of ordering said delivery. Soggy and gelatinous sweet and sour pork for the kids. Mongolian beef that was indicated as «spicy» on the menu, but turned out to be a box of salty onions with a few strips of beef. No heat. Walnut prawns where they used either rock shrimp or those super tiny cooked shrimp. Made the rice at home, else I’m sure they’d of blundered that too. Bummer. I’d almost go as far to say Mr. Hongs was better. That’s just bad news.

I will never order/eat from this place again! I place an order for delivery(chicken salad, house chowmein, egg rolls, and crab stuffed wontons). I should have known what I was in for when the guy that answered couldn’t speak a lick of english. I decided to order anyway once a girl who spoke english took the phone from the guy. I gave them my credit card over the phone. They told me 30 minutes to get my food. It took an hour+. Once they got here(husband and wife — younger), she asked me for cash saying my credit card didn’t work(yeah right). Luckly I had enough cash to cover it. Hoping to food would be better than the service, I opened my salad(didn’t look special) and went for the dressing container. I opened it up to discover it was moldy F*C*INGGROSS!!! Everything else I touched was stone cold! Didn’t eat any of it & will be taking it all back for a refund!!! BEWARE this is how people get sick eating out! I wish I could give them NOSTAR!

Authentic chinese food. The fresh mongolian BBQ is the best… the BBQ sauce is very good! Ask a la carte if you want fresh chinese food. Otherwise the buffet is really a hit and miss as any other buffet place. If you show up at a not so busy time you’ll get the soggy left overs.

If you want super high-quality asian food, this is not the place for you. But if you want to absolutely stuff your face with a ton of food in a fun divey environment, then check this place out. Mongolian BBQ is a fun way to eat, and at Ling’s you can do it super cheap.

Mongolian noodles, hot and sour soup, and crab wontons were on hit. All the other Chinese food was alright. The fried chicken was horrible. There was no flavor and it was cold! The thing that irritated me a little was the fact the he charged me $ 6.99 for my 2 year old! Really? I will never return to this place! EVER! And that the old owner was swatting flies off the tables while we were eating and not wiping the table off. GROSS!

the rest of the reviewers are RIGHTON! For $ 6.99(plus tax) I’d advise you to stay away from the«Chinese» food in the steamers! I have a distinct feeling this stuff has been here overnight… ewwww. I was lucky to be a recipient of freshly made egg rolls today and I have to admit they were good. The rest of the food was fossilized, overly battered-fried(sweet N sour chicky & porky), undercooked(crunchy fried rice), and slimy(chow mein). Just stick to the Mongolian BBQ fare and you can build yourself a hearty semi– healthy meal of fresh veggies(red & green bell peppers, carrots, onions, mushrooms, cabbage, bean sprouts, tofu, etc). They use real Chinese noodles but be prepared for your choice of cryogenic beef or chicken shavings from the mini freezer. They are«liberal» with the grease so you may want to ask for half the amount they pour on the grill. For dessert… what am I saying… bananas swimming in «red goo», some jello jiggly things, fried plantains that the FLIES were all enjoying… yum! The water taste like toilet water so thank gawd I didn’t get a soda cuz it woulda tasted the same except carbonated. Oh, for your entertainment the staff chases down those FLIES and swats them dead while saying something in Chinese like…“Argh these«non paying» customers!” AYOR buffet eatin’ in Gilroy… bwahahaha!
