Food not up to par with our taste. Nothing to write home about. Appeared clean and staff was attentive.

The food is pretty good. It’s definitely the best place in Gilroy. The service sometimes isn’t as optimal as it should be.

Absolutely the worst Udon I ever had. The broth was very acidic– an indication that either the WRONG ingredients were used or they cut it with lots of vinegar. In Japanese cuisine, the vinegar goes into the rice or is brushed on to the fish. It is almost never used in broth preparation like they do in the some parts of South East Asia. Also the chef tried to make it Texmex by putting in lots of pepper. The fact that something as simple as Udon was messed up, didn’t give me any confidence to try anything else on the menu. From thirty years of dining experience, I know it will be all downhill after the noodles. Tempura was served sans Tempura sauce. The Soy sauce on the table is the dirt cheap local stuff(also cut with vinegar). If you’re used to great Japanese food, you will be greatly disappointed here. Everyone got FREE edamame appetizers except us Asians. Please let your chef sample some real Japanese food and just let him copy that. In fact, let him sample the instant Costco stuff — it’s waaay better than what he managed to cook up. When he’s had some experience with the real thing, then you can let him go wild on his brown rice rolls with avocadoes but not before. Do not bring your Asian friends and relatives here if you care about them.

I’ve never had a bad sushi dish here. But that being said, I don’t think I’ve had 1⁄10th of what’s on the menu. The menu is ridiculously long, but if you go in large groups it’ll be easier to pick out multiple dishes for the table. My only reason for pulling a star is the intimidating menu. Definitely get the dragon balls and the Hot Cheetos(yes, Hot Cheetos) sushi. Did this place totally Americanize sushi? Yeah. But is it totally delicious? Yup.

Tried to eat here. Waited in front for almost 10 minutes with numerous open tables. The cashier said that it would be a minute and never came back. We walked out.

For Sushi in Gilroy this is the best place to go. I Come here maybe twice a month. There a few staple dishes to get here like the Chicken Katsu, and fresh chopped wasabi. The chicken katsu is always juicy moist inside with light crispy crunchy outside. All the fish here has tasted fresh, and the rolls are on the artistic side. They sometimes have beer specials for Large mugs and have a few beers on Tap, because this is a Japanese style restaurant I get Sapporo! It can get busy at times, but you get used to it. No complaints here. Look at my pictures its what I usually order. They have a few TV’s and depending where you sit determines whether you can see them or not. Come here if your crossing through or if your a local. Also dont forget to sign up for the rewards program to save a few bucks!

Just moved to gilroy and this was our first time out to sushi and I’m so sad I didn’t know about this place sooner. It’s hands down the best sushi in south county

I suggested lunch today while out with a friend and unfortunately ended up feeling embarrassed. We stood at the hostess station for ten minutes before being acknowledged, by acknowledged I mean she came by and said«just a minute» while she rang up another guest who had been waiting less time than us. She then seemed to do everything she could think of to avoid helping us. Stopping at every table to see if they needed anything. There were at least two free tables that I could see but unfortunately after 15 minutes we gave up hope of ever being seated at one of them or spoken to at all for that matter. I used to come here all the time but found a sushi place I like a little bit more. Wanted to give it another chance. I loved the dragon balls.

I love sushi as much as the next person but I never really know what to get… basically end up with anything that sounds safe and good but back on Dec 9th for my friends birthday we ended up here for a late lunch and I wanted to be a little more bold. We tried 4 different rolls and they were all soooo delicious. The service was also very good. It’s a small place but it can get pretty packed. The young dude that waited us was attentive and the rolls came out pretty quick. Luckily that day it wasnt too busy. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Only one exit from Gilroy Outlets I decided to check it out. we seat on the bar and had few of the basic nagiri and sashimi. the fish quality was good(that what matters at the end of the day) I really liked that they didn’t use tons of rice for the Nagiri. it was perfect balance with the fish. The Matrix roll was very good too! some of the rolls have funny /playful names… The staff were all friendly and attentive. The chef even invited us for a dish of Salmon cheek(tasty) I will repeat next time I’m in the area

Filthy. Needs a good steam clean. The food prep was poor, one rag was used to clean and the same hand was used to handle the rag, raw and prepared food without being washed.

Food is always delicious, service is great, atmosphere is welcoming — can’t ask for more! One of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to up and down CA.

I used to think Sushi Omakase had the best sushi ever… Until I found sushi restaurants that didn’t overstuff the insides of their sushi with imitation crab. Their sushi is overpriced. I think the sizes have gotten smaller over time. I’d suggest to put more of the fish instead of the imitation crab inside. It’d probably be worth your money if they changed that about their rolls. But I mean for Gilroy, it’s not that bad. I’d pick this place over Ninja Sushi. Buuuuuuut… I’d drive to San Jose for 20x better sushi.

Horrible please save yourself the time and money. Service is terrible, sushi is not fresh. Chicken Teryaki was little shreds of bad tasting chicken, no one could eat it. If you want to party, come here that’s exactly what it looked everyone was doing.

Service level up tenfold the last three or four visits, really has become a favorite of our family and friends. The music has really been nice. Fun relaxed experience to enjoy with those you love. Few whoops here and there but every time the problem was addressed and resolved with common sense ms understanding. I like spending my money here!

We’ve had great sushi in some weird places… middle of amish country as an example. So, we didn’t think much of trying a place in the middle of Gilroy. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. I knew we were in trouble when we walked in the door and saw the sushi chefs. The fish was not very good, poorly cut… rice was over used in the nigiri and the special rolls all tasted the same bc they loaded all of them with the same spicy mayo. Plus side, the guy that waited on us(I think the owner? bc he was the only one not wearing the common get-up) was very nice and attentive. Half priced sake, edamame when we sat down. Good service.

–Redemption review– 4 stars for the food(based on my order only): tuna, salmon nigiri, and the G. Clooney Roll. 4 stars for the service and enthusiasm. 3 stars for cleanliness. After my husband and I «tried» this place on his lunch break he decided he didn’t want to go back until yesterday, however for dinner. We were greeted immediately and were given the option to sit where ever we liked. The table we chose still has bits of food and the chair I sat in was sticky, so I played musical chairs for a good minute. Our drink order was taken after 2 minutes of sitting down then our food order was taken after 10 minutes; decent. Food came out within +/-15 minutes; wonderful!!! We didn’t have to wait 45 minutes without question! My husband went with the«pick two» bento: salmon teriyaki and chicken katsu. He thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I love a man who can eat with feelings. I went with the sushi route like usual. The G. Clooney was nice and spicy and the nigiri was ok. The rice was falling apart and lacks thickness in slice. Overall a good experience, hence the redemption. The power did go out towards the end, so the entire restaurant sat in awkward silence. Thanks Sushi Omakase — we didn’t loose complete hope in you.

Sushi rice was dry, sloppy looking. Slowww ass service. No utensils when food arrived. Our food came later than 2 other tables that came in after us. Plus some dude was filming us eating without asking. Only thing good was the ambience and the hostess sat us quickly. That’s what brought it up from a one star. Oh and I got my food and almost finished it before got the rest of my tables food.
