Amazing pizza, great Italian food, good subs! Philly cheese steak is really good. Cannolis are great and just the right amount of sweet. Good prices on everything. I go back day after day!

I dislike writing Eek reviews but how is a place supposed to improve or go away. The place could use a thorough updating of furniture and general décor. A good cleaning is also in order, especially the ceiling vents etc. The soda machine is about to take off into orbit. You get the feeling that there is a lack of love for the place and it shows in the pie & general business acumen. The pizza was Meh ** and at least had a real crust but lacked something with the sauce and toppings. The napkins are the little rectangle jobs that are not up to par for a pizza joint. What really was upsetting(hence 1star vs. 2) is that I ordered three slices, two drinks and was charged individually $ 20 and after we sat down to eat I saw a sign with combo deals. The owner should have pointed that out so I could amend my order or just book a combo for good will. So he came off desperate to milk anyone who happens to roll in.

I am a regular lunch customer and sometimes dinner customer. So far, I only order one of three things, pizza, salad, or Chicken & Cheese with green peppers and onions. I enjoy eating at Pizzaro and coming back because the price are fair and portions are good. Plus the food is consistent. The pizza crust and sauce are made in house and has a sweet taste which I find pleasing. On the salads, most of the dressing are made in house as well. Also for lunch, service is fast.

Ate here Saturday night and really enjoyed the food. I went with a friend and we order the Greek sales and a chicken special to share and we were not disappointed. The chicken pasta special was awesome and the Greek salad was also good. This is a hidden treasure. It is located behind Panera. I will be going here again for sure.

Staying at a local hotel on business and craving chicken parmesan(and a glass of red wine, but that’s for another day). I ordered takeout from here and it was ready for pickup within 10 minutes of my ordering. The dish came with a good-sized side salad(and a huge container of dressing) and half a baguette of garlic bread that could have been fresher. The dish itself was HUGE. Definitely could have ordered this for two people and been satisfied. The dish itself was a 7. The sauce could use more flavor — I added some crushed red pepper and it livened it up. But if you’re hungry for some carbs, by all means, you’re in for a treat!

New to the area and looking for a local pizza spot. There are menus available for you when you walk in. You will order at the counter and they will bring your meal out to your table. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. They have outdoor seating right in front of a pond with a fountain, so you can eat while watching the ducks. It was very serene. The service was good and our food arrived fairly quickly. They have a drink machine and refills are free. Most things are self service, but they will come around and clean off plates while you eat to keep your table from being too cluttered. I’m a vegetarian and my husband is a meat eater so we always get separate pizza’s. We both ordered garlic knots and 2 mediums that were much larger than we expected. I would never say having leftover pizza for 2 days is a bad thing though. The verdict was that both pie’s were great! All my veggies tasted fresh and he was very satisfied with the abundance of meat on his! The crust was wonderful and not too heavy and the amount of sauce was perfect. $ 30 for 2 drinks, garlic knots and 2 specialty pizzas is how we ended up. They also deliver, and I would recommend them over any of the chains all day long. I would definitely recommend trying them out the next time you’re in a pizza mood.

Great pizza and sandwiches and very affordable. The setting is super casual but perfect when you are ding with 2 kids. Haven’t tried the pastas yet but they sound really good.

A decent place for pizza and the like. I think they would do well to cook at a slightly cooler temperature for a little longer. The last time I was there my Stromboli was cool inside, the exterior was done. They remade one for me, which was reasonable but was still slightly cooler than I would have liked. Another idea is they should place these items in foil for part of the cooking time.

Pizzaro is my favorite pizza place in the VCC area. Gino’s is a close second, but the crust of the jumbo pizza at Pizzaro’s is so great. The perfect amount of thin and crispy with a generous amount of cheese. Honestly, I’ve ever only had the pizza to go. But as far as a non-chain pizza in the area, it’s our favorite. When picking up, they’re polite and fast. And on Tuesdays, you get $ 2 off the pizza order. My husband has often gone there for lunch and has had the subs, but for the price can get a lot more food at the Subway across the street.

Reheated pizza. Enough said. Doesn’t help that the interior decorating is falling apart. The place was empty. No service, you pay at the counter and fill your own drinks. I think we’d have been just better off if we would have stayed home and reheated a frozen pizza. IMHO, it’s not horrible, but it’s not very good or worth the price. If you’re in the area, short on time and craving pizza, give it a try.

Great NYC style pizza. Friendly and fast service. Not too pricey. The only reason it’s not five stars is that it wasn’t clear if you were suppose to tip your server since you order and pay at the counter. And by the way, you should, so bring a little cash.

My husband and I are declaring Pizzaro’s pizza the best in the area(that we’ve tried so far). He really enjoys the meat lover’s pie. It comes with generous pieces of ham, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. The crust is really tasty. I think it has sugar added to it but I could be wrong about that. The fountain drinks come with unlimited refills. The owner is a very friendly man who takes the time to smile and thank you for coming even when he is slammed with business. The other employees are very friendly and helpful too. Check this place out when you get the chance.

Good, solid pizza joint. I come here when I want delicious pepperoni pizza with a thin, crispy crust. There’s a flavor to the crust that I don’t find at any other pizza places in the area(including some I’d rate at 5 stars). The garlic bread-knots are a nice snack while waiting for the pizza to cook. They’re tasty and flavorful, though can be a bit oily occasionally. As mentioned in another review, lunch specials are a good option and the service is pleasant, friendly, and offers just the right amount of attention. Definitely a great choice for lunch or take-out. Give it a try!

Over time, I’ve more or less come to the conclusion that the area around VCC is built upon the death of all our hopes and dreams. Therefore, when it comes to Having Opinions about food in that commercial wasteland, my expectations really aren’t that high. However, after spending over three years working/going out for lunch in the area, Pizzaro has become more than just an eatery that I don’t loathe — they’re actually a damn good Italian spot that I’d put up against any other of my favorite pizza joints down in the city. Here’s why: 1) The food is really good. Not amazing, but they have a few gems on their menu. Only New York-style pizza I’ve found in RVA with a good foldable crust, but won’t leak grease all over when you take a bite. Awesome eggplant parmesean, and I’m becoming addicted to their«lunch sized» chicken stromboli. 2) The food is cheap! Great lunch specials, pizza by the slice, and massive pizzas for a very reasonable amount. 3) The staff is all business. Always fast, always attentive, but not smothering you. Sometimes at lunch all I want to do is get a tasty sammich, catch the scores on ESPN, and be left the eff alone. Pizzaro has this on lock. If you’re unlucky enough to get caught in the area and you need some grub, bypass the Panera, the O’Chucks, the whatever other restaurant-in-a-box, and head into Pizzaro so you can get a legitimate meal for a good price.
