There personality still sucks. Got food from there for the first time in a long time 2 weeks ago with horrible service. So I came back tonight not to eat, just to video record some of there bad habits. They are very unsanitary the way they work. The man who prepared my food tonight(green shirt) was only wearing one glove however he was using two hands. His buddy is a rebel and works with no gloves. I am adding a video of these poor unsanitary work habits(to youtube search for — taco king 256 – 31) because two weeks prior my food was treated with the same unsanitary food preparation. I got sick from the food later on. When i told the woman worker who was preparing the food that she was touching my food and that I wanted it made over again. The man with the green shirt in the video laughed then proceeded to put it in the bag then handed it to me. Well this time I got you on video and plan to share it with Unilocal as well as the department of health and the local news if they are interested. Don’t think getting me sick after humoring yourself doesn’t come back with repercussion.

The fajitas are good. But there customer service is horrible. There extremely rude. When you call to place a pick up or delivery, this is what they say(WHATYOUWANT) they need to treat people with respect and Learn how to speak properly.

Typical Chinese run Mexican spot. It’s fast, hot and cheap. As far as flavor goes — you get what you pay for. Keep your expectations on the low side and you won’t be disappointed. Quick delivery.

Bad experience! The employees were so rude. They were on the phone like no big deal talking to random people while making my food. They were very unprofessional. Also, the guy taking down my order sneezed and did not wash his hands which was disgusting! I will never return to this taco king again. Im only giving them one star because the food was good. I will never return to this place! Stay away!!!

First of all its freezing inside restaurant. It has about 10 tables for customers to sit. It’s more of a takeout restaurant. Not a restaurant you would want to have a romantic date on. It is pretty close to lij hospital. I love Mexican food so I would go here again

Best tacos in Queens! I had the chicken quesadillas along with shrimp tacos it was amazing the only thing it lacked was the fact that there was no sauce so it kind of made it dry. Customer service was good and also I found parking easily. Will go again!

Chinese restaurant serving Mexican food. Guess what? It’s pretty good. I like the soft shelled chicken tacos(a little small but good) and the 1lb burrito. Give them a try. Its better than waiting in line at Chipotles.

This was one of the WORST meals me and my handsome have ever had… BUYERBEWARE!!! I caught the guy microwaving our nachos!!! Tacos were ice cold… Extremely runny and maybe 6% beef 94% weird liquid FYI we live 5 minutes away… How is it so cold?! … I will never eat here ever again and you all shouldn’t either… Save your money… Save the calories…

I was surprised to found out that the managing team of this Mexican restaurant are of Chinese descent. Anyhow, the tostada salad bowl that I ordered for today was enjoyed by my husband. It is a healthy serving, something different from a regular Mexican salad bowl — no rice as part of the ingredients and taste was just right. A little pricey .The place was quiet, no client much at the time of visit and under renovation. Location is accessible, lots of parking space. Could come back for just take out order, not dine in.

Most amazing takeout style Mexican restaurant. So cheap… Great lunch and dinner combos. Okay service. This place is incredibly quick with your food. Pretty large selection of Mexican, Tex-Mex, and American fare. Must tries are the burrito, the chicken with rice, the nachos, and all of their tacos. Been here quite a few times, so you are hearing from the master…

When the line at Chipotle is a 45-minute wait, sometimes you have to settle for a smaller local tex-mex place like Taco King.(Interestingly enough, the business is run by Asians.) It’s cheap, fast, and healthier than Taco Bell. Large portions, too! Personally, I really like their combo that comes with steak, guacamole, rice, and beans. The homemade hot sauce they have in bottles at the counter is too watered down and vinegary, though. True rating would be a 3.5, not a 4.

This place has great fajitas and they’re dirt cheap. For the price of what you would pay at taco bell for«crap», you can get fresh wholesome food here. Their hacked chicken and steak is great. They make the torillas fresh with the help of a spiffy machine that they have on hand. When you walk in, the place will remind you of a chinese take out restaurant… don’t let that scare you off. The service is great, everything appears to be very clean and the quality of the food is pretty consistent.

This joint could use a cleaning and a fresh update. Very dirty outside area and garbage bin is broken and old. I heard someone hacking in the background right after I put my order in. Can’t complain about the food. Everything tastes delicious. A little weary of the sanitary conditions though.

This is a small Asian ran Taco restaurant. I’ve been here a few times over the years when I happen to just be in the mood for tacos. I’ve tried a few different things off their menu and I wasn’t really impressed. A lot of their options outside of their tacos happen to be taste really bland. Far as taco’s go they aren’t bad at all though. I almost always get Shrimp Taco’s from here. The thing that bothers be here is the restaurant just doesn’t look clean at all. I never sit here and eat.

Dependable local tex-mex food, if you don’t want to drive all the way to baja fresh or chipotle. The prices, compared to aforementioned chains, are good, and the food goes a long way. I had the nachos with grilled chicken. There was not enough cheese, and the tomatoes were not cut finely like in normally prepared salsa, so it looked more like the tomato chunks you see in salads. Unusual so I didn’t eat the tomatoes. The jalapeños they use are really spicy. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla. The tortilla was more like a pita and it was very hard(not even crispy, but hard), so it was a departure from the normal softness and tenderness of a quesadilla. It was also very dry. Since it’s a local business, I will be coming back. But minor tweaks here and there(especially in the appearance section– I wouldn’t say its dirty in the store, but it definitely needs to be mopped and tidied more often) will make this place a more enjoyable experience.

I’ve only been at Taco King once, but so far, it’s probably one of my favorite cheap Tex-Mex restaurants. I tried the steak combination with tex-mex chili and it was better than I expected. They weren’t stingy with the steak(unlike other places). Lots of seating also.

I serendipitously ventured into this hidden gem because my significant other and I were running some errands in Long Island and this used to be one of her old haunts after long work shifts in a nearby hospital. After contemplating some typical fare for a quick cheap bite in the area, I was immediately intrigued as soon as she began to describe this place as a Mexican joint run by a Chinese family. While thoughts of General Jose’s Chicken and Peking duck quesadillas started popping into my head, this is in fact straight up Mexican fare done properly with perhaps slight Asian nuances discussed below. I was disappointed to read an Elite reviewer going on a borderline racist rant regarding this place as both a violation of culinary authenticity and some unfounded claim that this was somehow some apocalyptic sign that Mexicans were being pushed out of the community by an Asian empire. The interior may look like a typical fast food chinese joint, but there is a nice polite Chinese couple with their two young kids behind the counter cranking out fresh made flour tortillas one at a time and preparing the fillings to order, just trying to make a humble earnest living. I ordered a variety of soft tacos consisting of chicken w/guacamole, steak, al carbon, and I always throw in a wild card in this case being the fajita shrimp. The chicken consists of dark meat from the thigh/leg which may be an Asian preference(random sidenote: what is the obsession in this country with white meat? Dark meat is more tender, juicy, and flavorful, whereas the only argument I can think of for white meat is that it can be more easily shaped into individual pieces and is more uniformly consistent or boringly monotonous in texture/flavor which probably led to the expression«tastes like chicken») and the grilled peppers/onions have that nice fresh-off-the-fajita-plate smokiness and crispness(akin to wok hay in Cantonese cooking). The steak and al carbon were hard to distinguish from each other and were on par with a moderate street taco truck so not much to say there. In regards to my wild card pick, there is usually a high risk or high reward possibility, and in this case I was rewarded in spades. I was expecting some cheap mini frozen shrimp since that usually tends to be the case in a taco less than 3 bucks, but what I got were lightly tempura-battered regular-size shrimp that were cooked to an ideal consistency and served burn-the-roof-of your-mouth hot like a solid honey-walnut shrimp minus the walnuts/mayo. This is where some Chinese cooking technique showcased its personality without trying to force itself to be fusion. All in all, my expectations were exceeded based on value and the pride and effort the owners put into their product, when they could easily settle with less. It may have been years since my significant other has been back, but I hope the community continues to support them in the years to come.
