Smashburger

Gave it three stars due to poor service/​communication. Our order kept coming back to us with missing components. We ordered the all American combo, which the cashier thoroughly described to us the components, yet when it came out it was missing the cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. It had to be sent back twice to get what was missing. The food when complete was satisfactory though. I like smash burger and have been to other locations. This was my first time at this location and I was not impressed.

This was our second time getting smash burger and I just have to take the time to comment on the incredible customer service! The woman that was working the front was wearing a red shirt, I’m assuming she’s a manager of some sort, was amazing! She was so friendly and polite despite the fact that they were busy. She made sure everyone was greeted even if it was just to say she’d be right with them. She had a big smile on her face the entire time as well! Something as little as a smile goes such a long way! I was so impressed with the customer service that I just had to say something! The food was amazing as always! Smash burger has definitely found some life long customers! Thank you for the wonderful experience and delicious dinner!

Smashburger is one of the places I go to for my weekly splurge, and I was happy to find a location so close to Montclair. I wasn’t wild about the parking situation (kinda cramped and difficult to turn into the lot), but I got in, found a spot, and got in line. Once I was inside, I was surprised to see that it seemed more like a takeout place than a sit-​down place. Maybe there weren’t as many seats as usual? I’m not sure. But there was a group of people waiting for takeout, and only about 2 groups in the booths. (It was a chilly day, and there was a draft coming in through the two sets of doors, so maybe that had something to do with it?)
But the important thing about Smashburger is that my food was good (exactly what I ordered), service was very friendly, and the wait wasn’t long at all, considering how busy they were. My Classic Smash & Veggie Frites came out perfectly! And for some reason, they were giving out coupons to all the customers for a return visit — which I’m never going to complain about!

Went back again to see if they could redeem themselves. They could not. Was there at 12:30 today they took my to go order at 12:40, and I received my food at 1:15. 35 minutes for 2 crispy chicken sandwiches??? I think not. Also the dingbat behind the counter entered my order wrong, so I had to go to the food expeditor to tel her that it was wrong and to make sure the right food was in my bag. Never again.

First thing 1^st. The employees were very nice and friendly. I wasn’t as thrill with the burgers and fries. I would have done better going to Wendy’s. On the other hand, my 14 year old enjoyed her lettuce burger. I had no idea what she was ordering, but she was happy, so I’m happy. So I guess I would be going back in the near future. Maybe I’ll try the lettuce burger.

The good: The fries were not salty (good for me). Wished they were not too skinny but overall, they were good.
The bad: Veggie burger was VERY SMUSHY. I ordered veggie burgers from other places but this was the first time I experienced a nasty veggie burger. Could not even finish it.
Next time, I will stick with a regular burger and see how it is. It’s going to be a while though, before I return.

Food is alright, nothing special really but I do love the fact that you can build your own burger and add a fried egg. It could be that the food wasn’t so great on that one particular day so perhaps the food would be better on another day. The manager is extremely nice however and she made sure everything was in order. I think her name was Tia and she has a very bright smile. Very nice lady.

Overall, they messed up my order and I ended up waiting 20 min for my food. Their saving grace is their manager Tia. She handled the situation professionally, apologizing and letting me know that my order was being made correctly. She even offered me a milkshake for while I was waiting and came over with a coupon for next time. She did everything she should have, given the situation. Their burgers and fries are greasy, the people in the kitchen could refine their skills a bit so the trays aren’t dripping with grease. Don’t think I’ll be back here, except to give Tia a high five.

My first time here, service was fast and great. Staff were really friendly and warm.
Didnt like the chicken sandwich, had a weird taste, and didnt care for the smash fries. Had a belly ache after.
I will come back to try a milkshake my friend was raving about but as for the food, ill pass, not a fan

Was craving a burger last night and decided to give this place a try. This was my first time trying any smashburger. I ask the register girl what should I get since I never been here and she suggested the sin city burger. So I order it and got a side of fries. I took it home and ate it 7 minutes later. The fries were cold since I got them. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I always reach for fries the minute I get my bag of food. I wasn’t thrilled about this but it’s late around 10pm, so I didn’t complained.
Once I took my first bite of my burger, I was kicking myself for not ordering a plain and simple burger. I was hungry so I ate it. A few hours later my stomach was letting me know something wasn’t fresh in my burger. So it was a long night. I won’t be going back. Five Guys, Shake Shack don’t have anything to worry about. The End.

Wow. How times have changed. Floors were slippery, like they were washed in grease. Empty tables unattended or filthy. Waiting so long for our food, while 2 tables around me had partial orders delivered. Witnessed no less than 4 people go up and have to actually ask for their food. I have no idea what happened at this location, but I don’t think I will return.

This place is definitely official but on the pricier side.

I had Classic Big Smash burger and a Avocado Smash burger. As usual burgers I had were more fresh and delicious than Mc Donald and Burger King in my opinion. Used $ 5 off of $ 12 coupon so it was good deal. Dining area and the tables were clean and neat. I went there at 9:21pm so there were no lines. Cashier Jean was very patient and friendly.

I’ve always gotten take-​out from Smashburger so maybe it improves my experience of it, but I’ve never had a problem here. Great decent burgers and the food is always on time when I order online. The fries are my favorite. Shake Shack is still my favorite for burgers at this price point, but Smashburger is more than reasonable for what it charges.
The couple of times I’ve gone to order in person the line was slow, but it was also the end of the night and there was a mad rush for ordering, so I don’t fault the business entirely.
Service-​wise, I have to say they’ve been outstanding. We’ve even had a staff who insisted on getting us a fresh batch of fries when we went to pick up our order and the fries had cooled down by then. We didn’t ask her — she did it on her own.
Love ordering online, picking up and enjoying at home, and will continue to do so.

I wonder if this speaks for the franchise as a whole.

WHAT I ORDERED: a cheeseburger on an egg bun and smash fries
PROS: the bun was soft and lightly toasted. I love that you can order online. The burger wasn’t bad. The staff was nice.
CONS: If you’ve ever been to shake shack and had one of their burgers it’s hard to find something as good… the fries taste like they’re seasoned with rosemary, which is an interesting touch. They were Shoestring fries which I like.
WOULD I GO BACK: Maybe… Nothing special here. Shake shack is so much better.

The fries were delicious, veggies were fresh on the burger and the bun was soft but toasted. Very good. The onion strings and the beef patty killed the burger for me. No ice cream for the milkshakes too :/​3 stars because the staff was very friendly and it was 1030 on July 4^th. I’m sure the team had a long day and good for them for putting in work on a holiday.

I love their burgers what’s interesting is that I went to a different smash burger a couple of months ago by Mahwah and the menu was similar but way different healthier options… What’s up with that???

I used to come here twice a week when they first opened, but I changed jobs. Tried them last year and was disappointed. Decided to try today and thus place is a joke. Dirty. Immature workers with no one directing them to be at least halfway professional. Won’t be back to this location.

I’d give them more stars since they were very quick when I stopped in in a very big hurry, but I’m sorry, if you give me a soggy burger that falls apart as I am trying to eat it, and I can’t even take it out of the plastic container without messing it up because it’s packed in there so tightly, then you fail. And that I asked it to go is no excuse.
