Very good food, fresh fish, like chef’s special menu. You will always see the surprise.

I am a Japanese food snob. This is an amazing experience. The restaurant is simple and the food is complex. No fast food feeling. Amazing flavors. A true understanding of flavor is evident in every dish. Try new things and ask for suggestions. No exaggeration you will love it. BYOB is a plus and the prices are extremely reasonable combined with a high level quality. Kitchen foods are great. Sushi and sashimi are so fresh and well presented. If you live in the area it should be your go-to place. Enjoy !

The atmosphere, service, and food is great! Sushi’s a little pricy I think but overall everything is good. The little appetizers are so cute and the green tea ice cream at the end is a nice treat! Will be returning again soon.

Had this sushi for lunch and I’m still dreaming about it. Everything about is superb, the service, presentation, and most importantly the food. This sashimi is so fresh it like they caught it themselves, beautifully presented with generous portions. Now that I’m done writing this review all I want to do is go back and get more sushi from Asa.

Asa has some of the best sushi and service I have seen. The sushi is always fresh and beautifully arranged. The sushi chef is fantastic and pays attention to detail in every dish he creates. They are byo which is great and can accommodate parties. This is a gem and better than any sushi place in ridgewood in my opinion.

Excellent choice for lunch. Sushi very fresh and quite tasty. I had the«Wall Street». No rice, rolled with cucumber. 6 pieces, very filling. Would recommend, I’ll be back

Yay! Under new ownership! New owner is very friendly and eager to please; seems to have more business sense than previous owners. New waitress is smart, efficient and likable. The new, remodeled sushi bar is attractive. Same delicious recipes as before, with improvements to the décor and service. High quality, fresh fish. I had the salmon sashimi and salmon sushi twice last week and enjoyed every last bite. New owner is phasing out the annoying aluminum take-out containers and has begun to replace them with prettier plastic take-out containers. This restaurant is on my way home from my gym and I reward myself with sushi for my good behavior. Reward yourself too; you deserve it!

Nice small place with great sushi. The rolls weren’t perfect. I had about 3 rolls that fell apart on me but then again im not an expert with chopsticks. Service is ok. I did get a complimentary soup, salad, green tea and green tea ice cream… or do they all come with rolls? Anyways that was great. Oh yea they also brought out this small plate of 2 scallops with this garlic fish sauce on top? Dunno but it tasted amazing. I will definately come back to this place

Very good sushi, great rolls, good flavors… and their tofu appetizer was delicious. I really love their ginger dressing too. Location is easy to get to… small & a little dark inside, but still enjoyable.

Stopped in yesterday after getting stuck in really bad traffic coming back to NYC. My kids were melting down and the whole family needed a break. This place was close, clean, and had space for us. The staff was friendly and the food hit the spot. Good stuff.

Great place for lunch, super good special 2 rolls for 10 $ and 3 for 13 $ also came with a small appetizer and a green tea ice creAm scoop at the end. The food was good. I had the spicy tuna and spicy salmon also shrimp tempura. I loved all of them. Service was good and the décor was very modern. Loved it! Would definitely recommend and go back.

We dined here for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. Food was excellent. Sushi was very fresh and delicious. Complimentary appetizers were fantastic! The spicy fried tofu was amazing. Service was excellent and the ambiance was very nice. Complimentary green tea ice cream was another very nice touch and it was delicious. Lots of parking available in the lot. We will be back!

Food is mediocre. Service is poor. They fail to check their online takeout tickets so orders are not ready for pickup upon arrival. They didn’t even realize a couple orders were en queue until I mentioned we had placed an online order. As a result, they scrambled to push out the order. Still took 20 extra minutes of waiting. Not one apology. After arriving home, noticed they failed to pack soup, salad, and missed one roll we ordered. Junior varsity… I hope they realize the storefront they rented turns over faster than a crew at Wendy’s… JFood, Sakura, Wasabi, or Sushi Village have them beat by a mile…

I am new to the area and was a single diner exploring restaurants in the area and I came across this gem! Now I have to reiterate, I was a single diner and I ordered the spicy pork belly appetizer and chirashi dinner for myself which is already a lot of food. Little did I know the meal comes with banchan style appetizers, complimentary dumplings, green tea ice cream, and an orange. I was not prepared for all that extra food, but I finished it all like a champ anyway. The spicy pork belly was good. The chirashi was better, fish was fresh, I was impressed. The best part about this place is the SERVICE, these guys went above and beyond to make sure I had a good experience. So happy I found my new local sushi joint!

The slow service is the culprit for my lack of stars here. I’ve been on two different occasions around the same time, Friday night 7ish. The first time the service was slower than we would have preferred, but nothing to complain about. It was us and 2 other tables. During my most recent visit, every table was occupied so I guess this is to blame for the increased wait times. To compensate, they kept bringing out appetizers, which we did not order. First there was a sampling of seaweed salad(definitely would get), pickled cucumbers, crab stick and broccoli(a little strange), and a scoop of mashed potatoes(even more strange). Then came the miso soup and house salad, normally not included with specialty rolls. After that, the appetizers we did order. Fried pork Gyoza, light and delicious, and the pork buns. The buns were just okay. The pork wasn’t cooked enough and was overpowered by the«special sauce»(tasted like BBQ). Our rolls came shortly after and I have zero complaints here. The fish and other ingredients are fresh, and they have some great combinations. At this point we are stuff and ready to go but not quite yet. Our server brings out pineapple and green tea iced cream. At this point, my only thought was how much money they lost by giving us so much free food. A sushi dinner for 2 people that should have been an hour long, lasted 2 hours. Safe to say, I will probably just stick to take-out from now on.

Asa means morning in Japanese, not sure of the correlation but this much I can assure you: This is certainly not Bergen County’s best sushi but rather a serviceable experience for take out in the area at this Korean run sushi restaurant. Many of the more popular Japanese dishes can also be had at a reasonable cost but for my dime I’ll take my business elsewhere. Within a few miles radius far better authentic washoku and fish can be found for a similar value. Some of the accolades seem a bit disingenuous or just uninformed. Go easy on the bluefin tuna! Kind of torn about this place. Seems to be run by nice people with good service. Complimentary scoop of ice cream was a plus. The sushi tasted fresh. Soup and salad is pretty standard, what you’d find in any Japanese restaurants in the area. But, the restaurant smelled very unappetizing. Not sure how to describe it… over-bleached with a fishy smell? No good. Then two hours after eating the sushi, I developed a case of stomach problems that forced me to spend quality time with the toilet for the rest of the night. I can’t say definitively it was the sushi, but that is what happened. When my body gets the courage to go to this restaurant again I will update my review. I consider this to be a better choice than AYCEs in the area(they’re all gone down the drain in quality in recent years), but does not beat my perennial favorite, Sakura Bana.

I think this place was just ok. The pics I took looked nice. I don’t think I’d go out of my way to come back here. The fish quality was better than most places I’ve been for sushi.

I saw this place opened up and the first hint of a sushi craving i was sure to go. It is a small place but the décor is very nice. For my appetizer I got the tanijiuro soup and it was very good although they were a little conservative with the broth. It was just the right amount of spicy and the pork belly pieces were soft and flavorful. The rolls themselves were very fresh and delicious. The wall st. Roll was very good and the spicy salmon had actual pieces of fish instead of the mush most sushi places do. They also gave me and my sister complimentary green tea ice cream! That was the cherry on top, Love this place! Definitely coming back here. (I asked about them delivering and they don’t yet but once they settle in they most likely will.)
