I will never consider returning. Raw meat was sitting out the entire time I was there without being in even a cooler. If you do choose to go, I would recommend avoiding the meat and shrimp at all costs.

Food was good and tasty but service was slow on top of them not having things. No tap anything at the bar and all out of brown rice. Also had to ask several times for silverware and napkins. There was a manager lady running around yelling things to the employee’s, which was very unprofessional. Maybe next time will do the take out deal so avoid dealing with the service.

Slow service. Server forgot to bring my fried rice. Drove here from Green Bay excited to try something new and was pretty disappointed. The grill cook was really friendly though. Food was decent. The food bar could’ve been a lot cleaner.

Mine and my gf favorite restaurant Unlimited bowls for $ 13.99(lunch price) essentially gives you a huge meal with option of salad and soup and then you can make another huge meal to take home and it’s very good heated up. Love the soda mix the service is always friendly and if you can figure out what really tastes good to you considering all the options of meat, veggies, sauces, seasonings etc you can make a delicious plate. Love it here.

A-OK indeed. bd’s isn’t what I’d call my go-to place, but it’s a pretty reliable option when all other ideas fall through. Why it’s great: –You make your own dish. So it’s on you if you don’t like it. –LOTS of options. Tons of meat(chicken, pork, beef, seafood), veggie options(tofu, stir fry veggies), and great sauces. Served with brown rice, white rice, tortillas, etc. –Not creative? Follow the recipe cards for easy dish-building. There’s also a sauce guide on the wall with suggested pairings. –Join the rewards program and earn credit toward future visits. Where it could be better: –Service is hit or miss. It seems like they under-staff at times, which kinda makes sense since you build your own bowl and wait for it to be cooked. But you still need enough servers to handle beverages and any side dishes. But they’re usually really friendly and ultimately get the job done. –I used to be a Flat Top Grill loyalist when it was still open on Mayfair Rd. Two things I loved about their style that I wish bd’s would adopt: 1) It’s fun to watch your meal be cooked, but FTG would let you drop it off and then deliver it to your table. That way you can sit and enjoy time with your dining partners rather than be staggered depending on whose meal cooks first and spending 1⁄3 of your time standing at the grill. 2) Put the meat at the end of the line. Or in a separate bowl. At bd’s it’s the first stop, and you know people are touching the tongs at other stations to their raw meat… gross. Overall, I like it and they make it a pleasant atmosphere. Just a few tweaks would make for an easy bump to 4 stars.

They make you buy the soup and salad bar at dinner and for the first 45 minutes we were there you couldn’t find a soup bowl. It took 20 minutes of repeatedly asking just to get salad plates and half the stuff at the salad bar was empty. When we went to fix our bowls many of the items on the meat and vegetable bars were empty too and as a previous reviewer said, the place was not clean at all. And this was a relatively quiet Sunday evening. I sure wouldn’t want to go there on a Friday or Saturday night. This was my first time there and my last. My impression is that its a stir fry version Old Country Buffet. Pump out the low quality grub and push the people through.

I went to BD’s for dinner tonight after not going there for a year and a half. Let me tell you… this place has changed A LOT since it first opened years ago. I am in the serving industry, and so I feel like I always pay close attention to a restaurants cleanliness when I go somewhere… and clean this restaurant was not. The first thing I noticed while being brought to our booth was that even though most tables were empty, none of them were clean. We had to wait for the hostess to clean off a table until we could be seated. After being seated, we went to the salad bar. 100% of the lettuce was brown and slimy… and that is the nice way of saying what it looked like. We passed on the salad bar and went back to our table to grab our bowls for the grill. When you eat here, the first choices you have are all of the meats. It was nice to see they added crawdads, calamari, whitefish, and some marinated chicken to the selection. The shrimp that were in the bin were a frozen block of ice. I mean, just one big, frozen block. The steak pieces have changed to a much smaller size, but that is understandable. It was hard not to notice all of the food on the floor… in the wrong bins… the food all over the counter… but onto the veggies. The veggies looked good for the most part. They had some super-fresh looking snap peas that turned out to be delicious. But once again, it was hard not to notice there were food scraps… everywhere. Once i made it to the sauce selection, I realized this place must not have been cleaned for the entire day. The floor was a sticky mess. My shoes are still sticky from it. There was sauce everywhere. I couldn’t even find a place to put my bowl down without getting sauce all over it. We also noticed that you can not sample the sauces before drenching your meal in them. They have eliminated the sample spoons. We made out way to the grill and asked if we missed the eggs. The cook informed us that eggs were too expensive and they have decided not to carry them anymore. While that was one of my favorite parts of my stir-fry, i can live without the egg. Cooks did a good job. They were just some young kids, but they were having fun and were friendly. When I got back to my booth and tasted the food, I would rate it a 3 out of 5. The veggies were good, but the meat was not. The ribeye was so gristly I could not eat it. Every single piece was terrible. It was like chewing on a very rough tongue, and very stringy. I picked all the ribeye out. The whitefish was actually pretty decent. I actually think that is the best meat I have had at BD’s. The pork was just ok, it was very thin and a little tough but it was alright. After we were done eating, I needed a box for my food. We waited a good half hour before she remembered we were there. She sincerely apologized, which was nice. If you’ve ever served, you’ve at least had one of those moments. All in all, I thought the food was decent, but the place was so dirty that I will not go back. It was really bad. I can understand having a few spills, but there obviously was either no management or very poor management. I am seriously concerned that someone might get sick because of this restaurants uncleanliness. It was pretty gross. I will not be returning.

We used to visit this chain in Michigan and they were excellent! Somehow the one in Milwaukee can’t quite seem to get its act together. First, the good — our server was excellent! Sarah stayed right on top of things and was very attentive. The grill selection is very good. Unfortunately, they ran out of some sauces and no one was maintaining the selection. Then, we paid for the salad bar. Some items were out and still had not been filled when we finally left nearly an hour later. That’s inexcusable! I looked for someone to point that out too but there was NOONE. I tried to tell the guy at the allergy grill. He told me someone else would have to help me. Not good. Then, the grill guys were okay but my seafood was not thoroughly cooked. If I wanted sushi, I’d go to a sushi bar. This is my second not so good experience here… I’ll probably give it one more try down the road because I’ve had such good experiences in Michigan but it will be a while. Hopefully, in the interim they will get their act together. It appears to be a management issue. It would be sad to see this place die. It’s so unique and has so much potential.

Just OK. The selection was nice but the«unlimited salad bar» needed some help. Our server seemed pretty young and definitely acted like it. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, the most attention she paid us was when I pointed out there was what looked like an orthodontic rubber band in my food.

I love the fact you can choose your own meats, veggies, sauces, and almost anything else you can think of that can be cooked on the giant grill in front of you. This is probably my twentieth time coming here since they’ve opened at this location. A couple of recent disappointing changes — they no longer carry eggs. Last time I was here I had to ask for one from the management staff. This time they claimed there were none due to the bird flu. Really? Also they were out of lettuce wraps! The cook spilled about ¼ of my food while trying throw it on the plate behind his back. Wait staff are generally nice but lack the enthusiasm and personality that made you want to come back when they first opened up. Cook stations were not clean this time; counters were unwiped leaving a film of sauces and various other ingredients on the counter. Time for a re-org!

I recently visited this Bd’s location and while the stir fry creation I created hit the spot, the cleanliness of the restaurant is unfortunately stuck with me. The place just didn’t seem clean, and the bar area where you pick you meats, veggies and sauces was a mess. This was my first time at a Bd’s and I was surprised to see everything cooked on the same circular frying area and staff not cleaning it off after cooking on the surface except to scrape off the excess from the last batch — i.e. not a good place for anyone who is vegetarian for sure. Additionally there was nothing separating the 10 – 12 stir fry creations on the cooking surface so I saw quite a bit of food make it on the floor and others roll into other peoples creations due to lack of room. Service was fair, our waters were always refilled, but our waiter didn’t inform us that salad bar and soup were included in our meal until about 10 minutes before we left. Additionally he asked us about 6 times if we wanted to go up and get more, which was a little excessive. All in all compared to other create-your-own stir fry places I’ve been to this one seemed to be about the same price, but without the ambiance. It was $ 15 for our create-you-own and it came with brown rice, white rice, lettuce wraps, or tortillas. If you are interested in seconds we were told it’s only $ 3 and you can take home your leftovers.

I’ve been to this place several time and today I decided with this visit I will write a review. First things first — it’s a great idea to have a buffet where you pick what you want and they cook it. That being said let me note the things I noticed on this visit. First there were very little amount of people eating there and a lot of people working there. When I went up to get my bowl I noticed a lot of the food in the buffet line wasn’t there and there was tons of things on the floor. It’s very nice they have an allergy zone because for one of your allergic to anything this contains your food only, and in my case I go there because I don’t like the community grill where other people’s food(and seafood yuck) gets mixed in because they use the same utensils. When I go to that area to have my bowl cooked no one is around until someone goes back there and notices me and said oh are you waiting to get your food cooked?(Duh) Anyways… The food was good and I enjoyed it. Only reason I go there. But as I noticed a rather large party leave I noticed how disgusting the floor was that they left. Not thinking anything of it as I see someone bussing their tables. I go up to get my second bowl because it’s only $ 3 more and I can eat it for lunch tomorrow. Lol. I go to the allergy station and ask the guy(they have a worker there now) what he suggest for steak sauce. He looked like a deer in headlights but I left it be and grabbed sauce. Getting ready to leave I see the manager socializing with 5 employees upfront and they are all laughing and having a good time. Meanwhile the guest area and buffet lines are covered with food and the floors defiantly need a cleaning. I never seen someone with a broom on time. I would eat there again I just hope they can get their act together!

I was so excited to find a BDs Mongolian Grill close to my house, I thought the closest one was in Naperville, which is much too far for us. We used to visit the Chicago location before it closed years ago and loved their food and particularly their apple pie and ice cream dessert. So, when we saw this location on our way up to Door County, we knew we were stopping here on our way home! Sadly, it was such a disappointment, we stopped here on a Sunday evening(April 26th) for dinner and upon entering there was no one at the host station. We assumed maybe there was a secondary one further into the restaurant. Upon finding none, we went back to the original host station waiting for a host. After a few minutes an employee came up to the station and I assume, clocked out and said she was off the clock but she would get the host. The host sauntered up a minute or 2 later, mumbled a hello and without apologizing for the wait asked us how many. We told her 4 and proceeded towards our seats. Now as I waited for the host initially, I noticed trash on the floor in the bar area and by the host stand. This raised my eyebrows because the place was not very busy. As we folllowed the host to our seats, the trail of garbage continued. There was food and garbage all over the floors. To get to the booth we had to cross a sticky spill of something on the floor. As I looked around I got more and more disgusted at the state of the restaurant. There were only a handful of tables being used but there were several more dirty ones and more food and debris around all the tables. I could not bring myself to eat here, if they care that little about the appearance of the restaurant that we can see, I am terrified about the back of the house conditions. I informed the waitress that I didnt want to eat there, she asked if we wanted a different table. I said no, I am not eating here this place is so filthy. She said Oh, yeah, I’m sorry they didn’t clean the floor today! We promptly left and went to California Pizza Kitchen next door. What a bummer! Management really needs to work on this location as it will not last if they continue in their filthy ways!

Went here for lunch today and I REALLY liked this place! Especially good for those of us on a low carb diet. We went around 1PM on a Monday, which was nice, because it was a bit slower. I’m not sure how they manage all the cooking when the place is full! Others have already commented on what kind of place this is. There are recipes and recipe cards on the wall, which provide some good inspiration. Server was very friendly and attentive to drink refills and the like. Price is very reasonable for the amount of food you can potentially have. I worry a little bit about the sanitation of the place, however. I think they should have hand sanitizer everywhere, but didn’t see any anywhere. We saw a woman packing about four bowls worth of food into one bowl, and she would put raw meat on top of her bowl, pack it down with her hand, then grab other tongs to put more stuff on top. Totally cross contaminating everything. I was so glad we were done eating by that point.

Went with a friend that only like beef and rice who had never been. He liked the wide selection and freedom the adventure of picking and choosing what kinds of proteins, veggies, spices, and sauces you like and cooking them on the grill afterwards. There’s always plenty to take home for the next day. This place is pretty consistent good for kids or anyone else, only thing that’s not is if the staff will perform for you(grill trips and singing depending on which server has personality working). Enjoy

I’ve had this review in my queue for awhile, and only just recently learned it’s a chain. Huh. You know what, to hell with it, I’m reviewing it anyhow. I’ve been here for lunch a couple of times despite my general distaste for all things Bayshore. The concept of the place can be a bit out there for those who aren’t familiar with the place. Basically, you fill up a bowl with raw meat and veggies, get some sauce, bring it to the cook and you get a stir-fry back with all of your ingredients. The quality of the outcome is entirely dependent on what you put into it. If you mix buffalo sauce and teriyaki and it turns out tasting awful, that’s on you. The staff is high energy. And I mean, like, really high energy. The last couple of times I’ve been to BD’s it’s been hard to carry a conversation between the server coming to the table every two minutes to check on you(seriously, guys, that’s too much), the birthday party that requires a song, and the occasional gong noise or small cheer for the grill guy’s knife skills. Honestly, this place is pretty hard to rate on food given how much of it is in your complete control. I’m giving it a 3⁄5 based primarily on the ingredients seeming as sanitary as you can get for having a tub of raw meat sitting in ice(they actually do seem to keep stuff clean and fresh) and the clingy waitstaff.

Stopped here for a work lunch the other day. We were worried about getting in and out in an hour(minus the cook time, we would have) but we were seated quickly. There were maybe 6 other tables in the place with patrons which was surprising. Our server had a hickey on her neck, not very well hidden. She was very sweet — but what an unprofessional way to come to work. She even mentioned her boyfriend to us a couple times. We all ordered the stir fry bowls and went to fill them immediately. There is a section with meat/seafood, a section with veggies, and a section with sauces. I wish that they would charge differently for a veggie only option versus one with meat/seafood. I didn’t like being charged the same as my coworker who loaded up on steak and scallops. They have one of those BYO pop flavor machines, so there are plenty of options to drink. They bring out tortillas, white or brown rice with your meal. They also have an option for soup/salad where they have one meat and one veggie soup option as well. There is a separate window for customers with allergies as well. The grill time took longer than expected, but for how fresh it was — I would definitely come back. I’d prefer to come not on a time crunch and actually enjoy my meal though!
