Rolls and miso soup were spot on! Sashimi was OK too.

This is a review for the take-out order I placed. The staff on the phone was super polite and they got my order ready in less time than said. I ordered a dinner combo, which I feel was worth it consider I had a katsu, sushi set, and a saba(grilled fish). The sauces and miso soup come with the combo make it even better. Will be there again soon!

Great service, decent price, & nice atmosphere. Came here based off of Unilocal alone and my family was not disappointed. Staff is attentive and sweet.

Delightful! Staff are professional, friendly and quick! Love the food here and really low key so need not try to be pretentious! Sushi tasted fresh, I can tell because if the fish is not fresh I break in to hives. Albacore sushi yummm!

I didn’t know this place existed! Glad the boyfriend and I discovered this little gem of a sushi spot around Eagle Rock. The service is amazing– attentive and nice people! I ordered the popcorn lobster and it was delicious, plus, you can’t beat those prices. I plan on coming back manyyyy times. Highly recommended!

I went to this restaurant with my family. It’s a tiny restaurant, but they were able to accommodate us(4 adults and 3 kids). The food was great. We were very happy with everything.

Oh buko how I love you so! Your fish is fresh and service is always so friendly. I wish you were open on Mondays… I would be there right now. I would give five stars if you hired another person to help wait on tables only bc it gets busy so often and can be a bit too much for the staff to handle at times.

Best sashimi platter I’ve ever had. The fish quality here is extremely fresh and the chefs do a great job of lightly seasoning the fish, so that you can actually taste the fresh fish and not just a bunch of sauce. They also make a mean crispy spicy tuna, delicious avocado cucumber rolls, and the tataki roll is an amazing house roll worth throwing in the mix. My boyfriend also enjoyed the smelt egg sushi, crispy salmon skin roll and their edamame. Such great quality for the price, highly recommend.

I don’t know where the bad review people ate, but we weren’t at the same sushi joint. Although, I suspect that these people prefer flashy, hipster sushi which this is not. Buko is hands down one of the top three sushi joints in LA, probably one of the top five in the US and ranks up with best in Vancouver and San Francisco. Highly highly highly recommend. Not just great, fresh fish, but great, traditional Japanese recipes you won’t find at other sushi joints.

Friends suggested Buko and I was on a mission to find this place! Satisfied with the outcome and will return soon! Sushi and service was super! I’m hooked!

I like places that are family owned and operated and this pace is just that. The chef knows his craft and loves what he does. It’s obvious, the food speaks volumes. All the food was excellent. The highlight of the meal was the live sweet shrimp… It was tremendous! Forget all the other tired sushi spots in Glendale that serve out the usual generic sushi meal, this place is the real deal!

It has become my favorite sushi place in Glendale. Not being on the main street and yet providing an excellent service and great food is always a plus. These guys rock, check them out

The sushi here is horrible. The fish is old, rubbery, and tastes like the fishes were swimming around in a toilet. The tuna was so bad that I had to spit it out. The extra star was just because the waiters/waitresses are nice– but the food was disgusting sad to say. I wanted it to be my go-to sushi spot because it’s so close to my apartment but I’ll just be at Skaf’s across the street instead(not a sushi restaurant but seriously some of the best babaganoush/hummus I’ve ever had)!

Buko is an affordable, quality sushi/Japanese restaurant nestled in a small strip mall in Glendale. The service is kind and efficient. They do a nice job of taking care of guests. My family shared a plate — chicken katsu/beef ribs — both really delicious! We had yellowtail, tamago, ebi and halibut nigiri — all really fresh and nicely prepared. Our roll was the Hawaiian — it was a bit dry and lacked some umph! All in all a great little spot that welcomes families and couples alike!

Tasty and with a happy hour that goes until 8pm! For veggie choices, it’s inexpensive. And there are lots of families, often with infants, so there may be some shrieking going on.

Was expecting a lot based on these reviews but it’s mediocre. Mayo on albacore? Overcooked teriyaki chicken and soggy steamed shu mai that was most definitely frozen. Crispy fried onions looked like they were fried then refried again.

We go here fairly often — about once every two weeks. I really enjoy their Japanese mackerel and usually get the shrimp curry. :) Their ramen is pretty eh so I do not recommend it — but the service is always quick and friendly. I enjoy coming here for our sushi fix since. All of their sashimi and sushi hits the spot :) All sodas come in a can. This is common in LA though.

I used to frequent this place a lot during 2001 – 2003. I have fond memories of the dinner special and the green tea ice cream. But I must say this place has definitely changed. The quality of the food has gone down a bit but not drastically. The portions have definitely gotten smaller. The green tea is not the same brand which melted in one’s mouth and left the green tea after taste. :’( The place definitely has a new contemporary feel. With a lot of cartoons hanging on the walls. The place is tight but service is quick and overall pretty friendly. For example, the sushi chiefs greet everyone who walks in the door(that’s pretty awesome). Now for the FOOD: the short ribs are delish but chewy. The teriyaki chicken is also fabulous as is the tempura vegetables dipped in the tempura sauce. I must say I was blown away by the teriyaki salmon. It was SOGOOD I may have to make another trip soon. The rolls were decent(spicy tuna and caterpillar). Nothing that delivered the wow effect. Over all experience was Good and I’d come back to sample more items.

Granted, went with someone who knows the owner and is a regular. So, there was some discussion of menu beforehand. But we were also a big group and that is often an acid test for a restaurant. Can they deliver mass quantities of food under pressure with a smile? I know because I was one of those«surprise» guests for a Kitchen Nightmares episode, a la Gordon Ramsay and it was indeed a nightmare. Food comes out different times, different doneness, and so on. The fish was fresh, innovative. Service personable. The staff is ultra experienced and qualified. Their resumes are jaw-dropping impressive. The Japanese designed toys are fun, add ambience, but sadly NOT for sale. When we left, there were people waiting to be seated — always a great sign that you are in the right palce. We will definitely be back. We want to try the daily specials and the uni.

This place was spectacular! It is my boyfriend and I’s new favorite place around here! Being a lobster fanatic I tried the baked lobster roll & it was delicious! Better than any other lobster-type roll I’ve tried. Perfect blend of sweet and spicy sauce. My boyfriend really enjoyed the miso soup and shrimp rolls & sushi, and I will admit it was better than most sushi joints. Their service was excellent, and everyone was on top of it! Along with that the pricing was extremely reasonable, so you don’t break the bank & portion sizes were great. I find that I get too large of portion sizes at most places so I’m stuck ordering only 1 roll, while here I was able to order a variety without overdoing it! P. s. I would advise ending with some mochi ice cream! Their green tea & mango were pretty delicious! Next time i will try their vanilla!
