I was out visiting my family in Wisconsin on the way back to the airport my cousins Becky and Abby wanted to treat me to some of the BEST custard available. I ended up getting one of the flavors of the day Cherry something, a burger, and onion rings. Let me Just say I am sad that there is not one out here in California. The burgers when you look at them are bland as they come, but looks are deceiving cause once you bite into it that’s the game changer! I still can’t figure out what was special about the onion rings there was another taste in the bearding that just made them addicting. Man I can’t wait for my next trip to stop off here again!

Did not have custard, but they had very tasty burgers and a good chicken sandwich. The fries were disappointing limp greasy sad things though.

Always 5 stars! The best custard this side of the Mississippi, the Turtle is my favorite. The nuts are salted to perfection with gooey Carmel and delicious vanilla custard, come on! Add some fries, onion rings, and a butter burger and you are set! Very enthused about this place being that I’ve been coming here since I was a kid

Last time I visited my home town I tried another famous custard place that I cannot mention here, let’s just say I will not make that mistake again. Kopps is my go to place. The atmosphere is warm and family orientated. The service is fast and fun and the food ohh the food. The custard is perfection and Soo are the burgers. They might have good hotdogs here in Chicago but kopps burgers can not be beat. Love this place when I’m here miss it when I’m away.

This place is way over rated. If you’re a local I apologize and hope not to offend. Here we go… each item rated by star quality 5 — service friendly helpful star 2 — Cleanliness — got there later in the day and restrooms and waiting area were filthy 2 — Hamburger — tasteless pile of greasy mess, worthless, absolutely a waste of money. 2 — Fries — yuk, greasy and limp like the burger 0 — Onion rings — these worthless rings of fried batter are the WORST excuse … no more 3 — Custard and Sundaes, way over rated, very average at best We dropped In here on a recent road trip. People had told us this was a fantastic place to eat and a must place for custard. Wish we had stayed on the freeway and avoided this place. Threw most of it in the trash and got back on the road. Ugh, what a disappointment T

I love Kopps. And this is my favorite location, maybe because of the row of terra cotta cow soldiers out back. It’s small and less busy, but still always packed. But nothing beats their custard. Or at least nothing outside of Purple Door. Even Leon’s is a tie in my opinion, but Leon’s has more history. Kopps is a classic, and their restaurants are all beautiful, clean and clearly a source of pride. Their custard is top notch, also clearly a source of pride. In fact it’s the bar I hold all ice cream to. Which means most«Ice cream» obviously fails to meet, much less exceed that bar. Even other custard places generally don’t meet that bar, that’s how consistently good Kopp’s is. It’s rare to find a better ice cream(or custard) place. They exist, but they are few and far between. a That said I have a hard time eating here anymore. It’s such heavy food. Not just the custard, which I expect to calorie ladden(and love every second of it) but the food is sooooo greasy and fatty. Which to many people is a strong draw. And it was to me at one point in my life, but now I find it hard to find anything to eat there. Which is fine since I’m really just there for the custard anyway. But take note that the food may have as many(or more) calories than the custard.

Next time I’m skipping dinner and just coming here. The food looked really good, and there was an equal line for food as there was for ice cream, must be worth it. The flavor of the day was Tiramisu, it is not to be missed. It was perfect, creamy, boozy, chunks of lady fingers, good coffee flavor. I am now an official fan. I have watched the coverage on Travel Channel and Food Network, and when everyone wanted ice cream after a disappointing dinner at nearby Sprecher’s, I pulled up my bookmarks and we headed over! The line seems intimidating, but moves quickly, just make sure you look at the signage to make sure you are in the right/best line for what you are ordering. Loved the cows outside, especially the signage: «Kopp’s cows are from Germany where children are obedient and stay off the cows.» LOVE!

Best frozen custard in the world. Hands down! This needs to be your first stop when visiting Milwaukee. Or if you already live here, first stop to bring any visitor. The quality of the frozen custard cannot be matched. It’s so smooth. It’s so creamy. It’s so delicious!

I come here so much because I work close that I should have stocks in Kopp’s. I come here usually around 11/11:30 during the work week. The reason I go during that time is because I try to avoid the lunch rush that happens around noon. The service is great — the employees are always super helpful. Giant burgers — how can you go wrong??? Not only are there Cheeseburgers and regular burgers, you can get a fish sandwich or chicken sandwich. The custard is sooo good — if you don’t like the flavor of the day, you can pick from vanilla or chocolate. I’m not supposed to have custard because I’m pretty sure I’m lactose intolerant but that doesn’t stop me. If you want to make things go quicker, you can call in your order beforehand and then go pick it up. This is the place to go — I love this place :-D

Frozen custard is the best thing that ever happened to my taste buds. Not even the cold Wisconsin weather can stop me from consuming this delicious treat. I come from upstate New York, which is also a dairyland. It’s crazy to me that I had never had custard until I came to the mid-west. Moving on, Kopps has some of the best custard around and most certainly the most variety of flavors. This location is smaller than the one in Greenfield, but has obviously been around longer. I wish they’d make a location in MKE. Although this one is closer to my job, so that’s dangerous in itself. Sometimes after taking a few bites of the flavored custards, there’s a weird filmy texture left in your mouth, which is more than likely from whatever extract they use. This never deters me from getting this delicious, creamy, fatty dessert. If you’re not in to-go mode, getting a cone vs. a dish is a «bigger bang for your buck» type situation. Cone portions are huge! If you’re looking for something not quite as filling, I’d stick with the dish. Burgers are quite delicious, but if you’re getting your burger to-go, you might want to forgo some of the toppings like tomatoes because my bun always ends up soggy by the time I eat it. If you’re eating right outside(because that’s the only place you can sit down), then it won’t be soggy. Can’t stand moist bread! Yuck. Servers are pretty friendly and the wait time on grilled food is not too long as long as it’s not extremely busy. What are you waiting for?! Go shove some frozen custard in that pie-hole!

A+ level frozen custard. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, and about halfway through my medium cup, I felt like I was going to hurl. Super dense and filling. Outstanding dairy quality only found in Wisconsin. You guys don’t know how good you’ve got it. Solid core flavor lineup with daily and weekly flavor specials. Make sure you check those before ordering. Outdoor seating was at a premium when our group went, so we ate this sitting in their little brick amphitheater.

Kopp’s is uniquely Milwaukee and I LOVE it for the modern sterile décor meets killer burger and amazing custard. It is hard to explain to visitors the allure until they take their first lick of the custard. My standby is a cheeseburger with fried onions. The burgers are thin and monstrous so you it will be difficult to chow an entire burger, fries and a shake. Sharing is definitely caring! The eggnog shake is incredible! They only make them during December so buying one and putting in the freezer for January might be in order. Winter or summer Kopp’s is always a Milwaukee staple!

This was my first time at Kopps and it was everything I heard but be prepared to stand because there are no chairs unless you BYOC I loved my buffalo chicken burger loaded with pickles, celery, hot sauce and blue cheese! The custard was out of this world. It had textures and I love that they change their flavors daily I did not have the fries or burger but I was told by locals that the burger is even better than the chicken sandwich. I don’t see how I will be back!!!

I will admit that I am HEAVILY biased towards Leon’s frozen custard because i was raised on it since I was a little kid. Still a kid at heart, but I must cave and admit that Kopps is very good and this location is particularly nice. As with all Kopps I love the daily ice cream specials since it is always something new. Parking at this location is really easy since it is spacious and the scenery is nice. Outside you have an almost amphitheater like setting to sit with your friends or your friendly neighbor. Its a really nice place to chill on a Summer night. Inside the space is much limited and can get crowded on a good night with little seating but hey you dont come to sit right? The custard is always fantastic. I personally am indifferent about their burgers but my friends enjoy them so I guesss they are acceptable. Their raspberry in particular is amazing since it has extra appeal due to the use of real raspberries. Again I compare this to Leon’s raspberry custard which is my ultimate favorite. Anyway, you will find something you enjoy at Kopps, guranteed. The staff are young teenagers and have always been nice in my experience. Enjoy!

I’d give it 5 star but their service is knocking 1 star off. First, the service. I sampled two flavors of the day and chose the maple syrup one, and I wanted to try the chocolate one so I ordered these two scoops. The server asked me if they are in same cup or separate. I don’t want to mix up the flavor so I said separate. But after she ring me up I realized that it cost me $ 2 more because I’m ordering them separately. The server should’ve warned me that because she could definitely see that this was my first time here and I didn’t know. Yeah, she didn’t NEED to, but it is always nice to treat customers like real«people». Second, the frozen custard. O, M, G. The chocolate flavor is so rich, it’s like chocolate and cheese and milk and everything else you liked melting together in your mouth. The aftertaste stays but you just can’t wait to eat it all. You can’t bear to have it melt in the cup so after 1 min it’s all gone. And the cookie thing that sticks into the scoop, you eat it like chips and salsa. Oh it is another taste and it is good too. The not too sweet cookie combined with creamy chocolate, heaven. Epic frozen custard, love it. Third, the cheeseburger. The burger is really JUMBO, I mean it really is huge, it is as big as my hand and I have big hands. But the SATISFACTION is real. I wasn’t thinking anything the whole time and then it’s gone, don’t mention that I already had 2 scoops of frozen custard before hand. I was so full before eating the burger but I still finished it without even knowing it. It feels like every single bite is being in heaven. I’m not a burger person but this burger is really good. Better than five guys, in and out, shake shack, burger king and other few burger diners that I tried. I know I have not tried much burgers in my lifetime and I couldn’t say I have much experience, but I just want to make it my top 3 burger, you wouldn’t care less. In conclusion, besides the bad service, everything is good, it came above my expectation. Try the burger and the frozen custard, you won’t regret.

My first time at this particular Kopp’s was Spring Break ’07. Little has changed since that first visit– it is still awesome! I used to go just for the frozen custard(my favorite FOTD is tiramisu) but I’m hooked on the food too! My go to order: cheeseburger with the works and onion rings. You really can’t go wrong here, comfort food at its finest! Tip: if you’re in a hurry and don’t wanna wait in line, phone your order in! You’ll be in and out in no time!
