Hidden jem of a breakfast spot in Glendale. Parking is a bit tight but other than that great service and awsome breakfast. Not so much for large groups more of a coffe shop feel

I always sit at the counter for faster service. Parking is a little hard to find. Coffee is always pouring.

I’ve been coming here for 8 years now and it’s the best experience you could hope for. They remember you by 1st name and the food is like going to eat on a farm where everything is fresh and prepared just the way you want it. The staff is friendly and courteous. It’s like you’re part of an exteded family here. LOVETHISPLACE!!!

One of the best breakfast spots in Glendale. I walk in and they are playing The Dark Knight, my kind of place from the jump. I enjoyed the biscuits in gravy, nice and smooth without being smothered. The corned beef hash is great too, can’t complain. The service is quality, I’ll be back.

Judging it shadings other dinners in the area is a good and safe choice. that being said there aren’t that many good choices in glendale for breakfast. Food is decent, I usually go for the pancakes and eggs. Service here could really use some help the staff doesn’t really come off as friendly and welcoming which is why I only scored them a 3 star. To me Eben if the food is bad service should always be on point.

I love this spot. The corn pancakes are so delicious. Great customer service. You can park in the tire store if it’s before business hours or when they’re closed.

I don’t know how you mess up everything on a breakfast plate(aside from the toast), but they managed to do so. This is the breakdown of my chicken fried steak breakfast: Let’s start with probably the easiest thing for anyone to cook… Scrambled eggs. Runniest scrambled eggs I’ve ever had in my life; it had the texture of a loogie that was freshly hocked up and spit onto my plate. My «hash browns» were more like a large lump of limp steamed potato shreds masked behind a thin layer of slight browning. That little outer layer was nice, but the inch of potatoes in between was unseasoned and mushy; no amount of ketchup and/or salt and pepper could save it. The actual main portion of the dish; the chicken fried steak wasn’t all that bad to be honest. HOWEVER… What gives the chicken fried steak its usual appeal and signature flavor is the country peppered gravy that adorns the top of it. This is where that portion of my CFS fell short. It was a gray mass of unflavored slop. It tasted like nothing! As if it was just there to lubricate the chicken on its way down your throat. The service wasn’t a total failure, but for only having 4 tables seated in the whole place, I would expect to at least get ONE refill on my drink; but that didn’t happen. It didn’t really help that the server/cashier looked as though she just rolled out of bed after a hard night of drinking. All that said… The toast was good…

Little small place on the corner of california and Glendale, good for breakfast and weekend lunch. Slow on serving food but everything is fresh

You remember back in the day when people still read the Sunday papers? This is the kind of place they would go to do that while enjoying a plate of homemade breakfast, washed down with basic coffee, drunk from a very well-used dark navy mug. A lone TV hangs on one wall, intriguing photos of old Glendale on the opposing wall. A senior gentleman assumed to be one of the owners, gingerly walks around clearing tables from time to time and motioning waiting customers to take a seat. The last chair at the bar counter looks broken and leans to the side at a weird angle, frozen in time, like everything else there. You get the picture… Tea time with the Queen of England this place ain’t! There are a million different choices on the menu when it comes to food but only one when it comes to the hot caffeinated stuff. No cappuccino, no latte… Not even my go to substitute: sparkling water, just plain old coffee. This is old school stuff and if you enjoy that kind of a set up then you’ll love this place. Being the spoilt soulless sissy that I am, I like my modern comforts and don’t dig this whole throwback vibe, so my visit was nothing more than a semi interesting experiment. I went despite the uninviting location(right next to a tire shop), inadequate parking, and unappealing diner style décor and service, which I typically avoid, because I’d heard they have decent food. I wouldn’t mind the whole family owned/operated style places if it didn’t imply inefficient, fly by the seat of your pants kind of management, but that just seems to come with the territory and after 50 years in the business you’d think they’d know better. Can’t say the service is that great here, not awful but not terribly attentive either. The furniture is of course old — cutlery is old, water is served out of those semi-transparent hard plastic cups that have been attacked by the dishwasher one too many times and lost their will to live, and the pièce de résistance: a nice layer of dust on top of the back-splash of our table. The food is not bad — I loved my over-medium eggs in particular, but French toast and pancakes were only slightly above average and ultimately there just isn’t anything special enough for me to recommend here. I won’t be going back but giving it three stars instead of two, because I’m sure there are people out there who will enjoy this place, it just wasn’t for me…

Went to toasted bun because it was recommended, and there food was delicious! Everything looked great on the menu, and the service was very good. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

I woke up craving chocolate pancakes and left The Toasted Bun never wanting to eat them again. We waited 30 minutes to get our food and the home fries were not fully cooked and eggs and sausage tasted like they sat under the heatlamp for 20 minutes. To my horror, at the register I noticed food sitting under the lamps for at least 4 minutes and still sitting there as I walked out the door. The waitress didn’t seem to care much about the quality of the food she delivered to our table, and I didn’t seem to care about leaving her a tip. But I still did. Wasted hour an of my life, and my stomach regrets making the choice to eat at this poor excuse for a diner.

For a low end breakfast, quick and delicious it’s a great place to go. If ur looking for glitz and glamour not the place to go. Good, quick service and delicious food. Corn pancakes were great. Coffee id say was whatever.

Eggs good. Pancakes good. Bacon cooked well. Biscuits and gravy? If you enjoy gravy suited for a salsbury steak banquet meal over a biscuit fit for a dog treat, this is the choice for you. Not good. Really not good. Looks like 2 brothers running this place now. One seems attentive and quick and apologetic for time delays, the other walks around as if he’s doing something besides checking his phone, meanwhile customers are patiently(and then not so patiently) waiting for service. He’s a day late and a dollar short while the other guy is busting balls trying. It’s an ok spot and I want to like it more. It will remain my «Foxys was too busy» spot, as the above mentioned items were tasty.

When the Glendale crowds flock to Foxy’s or Porto’s for breakfast, the Toasted Bun is a fine alternative. It can get crowded here too, but I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be sat. The menu is that of most diners; from basic bacon and eggs to a good ol’ cheeseburger. I usually grab the chicken fried steak cause I love that country gravy and a lil’ crunchy chicken in the mornin’, but recently grabbed the Toasted Bun Omelette and enjoyed every bite. Topped with fresh avocado, wrapped around a few yolky yet fluffy eggs you got your cheese, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, and bacon that’s baked as opposed to fried. I devoured the whole plate that included a side of home potatoes and an English muffin, instantly being satisfied. I’ve had a nice experience every visit and usually find myself here on Sundays when saying ‘What up?!’ to my mother on that side of the world. The food is prepped just right, coffee cup always filled, with decent prices and good service. They’re to the point, just the way I like my breakfast.

The food was good, only problem was I didn’t feel very good afterward. I thought it was just me but then my husband started feeling queasy too :/ The service was good, but still… mmmm :(

Oh man! The corn pancakes are delicious! Never had it before and I love cornbread! Definitely a MUST-TRY! First time experiencing this little cozy breakfast/brunch spot. Just walking into this diner, I felt like I was at home. It has that home feeling where everyone comes here, enjoys a cup of joe, and chats with the servers. It has that friendly family ambiance feel. The owners were extremely nice. They seem pretty busy but they still have the time to stop by your table and have a short conversation with you. The breakfast burrito was extremely delicious too. It was made to perfection. But the highlight of my meal was the corn pancakes. Thanks to the owner who recommended it to us. Definitely worth trying this place. I am coming back here for sure. I found my new breakfast/brunch spot. Can’t wait to try other items on their menu.

Breakfast here is great! I came here on a Tuesday with a friend and was immediately greeted and given water. I ordered the french toast, and my friend had a waffle with strawberries and a coffee. The french toast was delicious! And inexpensive. Our entire meal cost under $ 20, which is nearly unheard of in this town. This place is kind of a hole in the wall(the layout is reminiscent of a Waffle House). Parking is a pain because the lot is tiny, but there is usually street parking available nearby. And there are definitely a few regulars that seem to keep camp here. I don’t necessarily consider these deterrents, but they add to the small town feel of this place so if you’re looking for a trendy breakfast spot, this isn’t it. But if you just want some quality, cheap breakfast then The Toasted Bun is great!

This place has the tiniest parking lot ever! I just skipped it and found street parking. The interior reminded me of one of those roadside diners in shows where the main character sits at the counter and orders the regular from their favorite waitress… or maybe that’s just me. Anyway, my friend and I both ordered omelettes, which came with hash browns/potatoes/or fruit and toast/English muffin/or tortillas. My Mediterranean Omelette was very filling, and the feta cheese complemented the egg well. The meal was decently priced at $ 8. Only problem was that the service was kind of slow. I don’t know why the one waitress present was slacking off because there weren’t that many people there. But it took forever to get her attention so we could pay the bill. She was nice enough, though. Great breakfast! I’ll come back next time I’m in the area. Food: 4, Service: 2.5, Environment: 3, Price: 3
