Love this place. It’s always packed and a little overpriced but an excellent choice if you’re going local. The food is great.

Wow, this place rocks the breakfast! I had tri-tip steak and eggs, and honestly, it was twice as much beef as one needs. Delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly; sunny side up! That’s not as easy as you’d think. Service was quick, professional and non-stop. Next time I want to try one of their 4-egg omelettes!

One of the classic places on Route 66 to grab breakfast with family and friends. Typically there is usually a long wait but we were seated promptly as breakfast was coming to an end! S E R V I C E Servers were really attentive and always came back to check on us. When our first server was about to leave she was nice enough to let us know and introduce our new server to us. F O O D I usually order their omelettes which comes with a side of toast or pancakes but I felt like trying something new since they have quiet a few things on their menu. Crab Benedict The crab cake benedict had the perfect crispness to it, topped off with hollandaise sauce which complemented the crab cake perfectly. Definitely something worth a try, also offered with the option of no crab!

I live next door to the owner’s parents. Judging from the owner’s cars I would say the business is doing just fine! Flappy Jack’s is absolutely burstingly full every weekend. 15 – 30 minute wait. However the staff is organized and the service is undeniably good. It’s a bit like Penfold’s in Temecula, trying to bring diner-style food back to the masses. The menu is like a small novel, which is either good or bad depending on your perspective on the issue. Serving sizes are enormous, but fairly inexpensive considering the sheer quantity of food you get. The food is also… okay. I mean, it’s comfort food, not haute cuisine. It’s a diner. It is what it is, and it’s pretty good.

Hands down favorite breakfast spot. Get here early though or you’re going to wait!!! However, keep in mind if you do have to wait, this place is definitely worthy the hype. Some of our favorites include: Chocolate chip pancakes The skillets 2+2+2 The portions here are generous, especially the skillets, and everything is so yummy and pretty! Service here is always good and they are very family/kid friendly.

First time coming here. Love the food. Taste great, very big portions. Had the strawberry banana chocolate crape and the Chicago skillet. Both were delicious.

I ordered the Flappy’s favorite skillet with two buttermilk pancakes and coffee. Portions a very generous can easily be for two. Flappy’s favorite skillet has Diced ham, bacon, sausage, onions and bell peppers, topped cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese. All the skillets have a layer of potatoes then two eggs any style. Served with your choice of toasts or buttermilk pancakes. Price is very reasonable for the quality and portions. Server was polite and knowledgable about the menu. I am a definite fan of Flappy Jacks.

We want to love it! There’s such a big selection but nothing has been great. Everything is mediocre and we end up having a $ 40 breakfast. I’ve never come and not had to wait. It’s just all too much! I don’t think we will be back until we forget how disappointing it is. My husband does say they have really good coffee!

For the area, this is a breakfast INSTITUTION. I know that they have long waits and stuff. I went a half hour before closing, so there was no wait. It’s a regular old fashioned diner style breakfast joint. Plenty of parking. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. So that was all good. Prices are fair. The food, though, in my opinion, was just okay. Nothing great. And even for the area, I’ve had better. Nothing as good as my favorite joint — Uncle BIll’s Pancake House(but that is in Manhattan Beach, so I can’t go that far since moving to the East Side a few years back). I had the swedish style pancakes. It said crêpe style. Now, usually, in my experience theses are supposed to be thin like crepes but crispy, if they are pancakes and not crepes. However, these were just crepes. Regular old crepes. And they came with a lingonberry syrup and lingonberry butter. It was all right, but I wanted the crispy Scandinavian style pancakes; not straight out crepes. The breakfast potatoes were good but nothing special. The wife had the stuffed French Toast with strawberry compote and an egg over hard. The French Toast was better than my crepes. However, it’s a shame they don’t have a small variety of syrups on the tables like maple and berry at least. You get the compote or syrup that comes with your specific plate and that’s it. The bacon was cooked crispy like I asked and was good. All in all, if you like this place, good for you. I wouldn’t exactly recommend it, but I want a unique breakfast. Not just a regular diner breakfast. Obviously, this place is heads above a junk chain like IHOP, but it’s nothing special or worth waiting for in my opinion, and if the Unilocal pictures are what it is usually like, waiting an hour to eat here seems positively bonkers.

It’s a great breakfast! I have not had one bad plate or experience here. The downside is you have to wait about 30 — 45 min to get a table of 4. Table for 2 is a shorter wait. If you can go during the week lines are a bit shorter as well. The staff is top notch. Very attentive and on hand when you need extra cream or butter. The cooks never under or over cook anything. Worth a try if you haven’t experienced it.

It’s been a while since I review this place and since I’ve been there recently, I think it’s only right to give this place an update. I know this place is famous for their pancakes, but the other items on the menu aren’t too shabby as well. I decided to come here around 2 pm, an hour before the place closes. As I expected, there wasn’t too many people here. I was able to get a booth as soon as I came in. It was not like the wait if you go there from around 7 to 10 am. I haven’t had pancakes in a while so I decided to stick with my bread and butter here, the Hawaiian pancakes. You can never go wrong with those. What was interesting was the other food that I tried during my last visit. The people that I came with decided to get sandwiches. One of them got the Malibu Chicken, which comes with chicken breast, ham, and Monterey Jack cheese. The other person got the Ace of Clubs, which consists of Turkey breast, roast beef, American and Swiss Cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. The portions of these sandwiches were huge. Boxes were definitely needed as there were plenty of leftovers. The sandwiches tasted great. The bread was perfectly toasted and the meats and veggies tasted fresh. The sandwiches also came with two sides, we decided to go with fries, coleslaw and a soup. The soups are small but taste great. I was really impressed by the amount and the taste of their non-pancake items. Service here again was top notch. The people working here are friendly and kind. They repeated gave us refills when our drinks were getting empty or were near empty. I never had a bad experience here, other than the times that I went here and there was a 45 minute wait to get a table. Nevertheless, this is still a must try for anyone in the area!

Very busy place as I was here on a weekend for brunch. The menu is extensive, it’s hard to make a decision. Portions are generally large but you can get something smallish such as the 2+2+2(pancake combo), french toast combo, or German pancake. I didn’t try the pancakes but I wish I had. Pumpkin pancakes are currently in season but you can’t pick any flavored pancakes to go as your side with your entrée. Here is where I saw a German pancake for the first time. Very interesting to see it comes with lemons. Carrie took care of our large party wonderfully even though we may or may not have been a pain in the butt. They are very good at coming around for coffee refills. You pay at the register.

Flappy Jacks what’s the hype all about? Well after venturing out to Glendora on a workday, my questions were answered and you have flapped your way into my breakfast loving heart. This place gets really busy and I came in on a Monday morning, but the 15 minute wait was well worth it. The service was stellar from the minutes we walked through the doors to the very end when we were handed our check. Never throughout the meal did we have to hunt down for service as they were present throughout our meal and our coffee was flowing and never was our cup empty, just great. The food was amazing and do note that the portions are huge. But there is something for everyone and their menu has many many choices. Whether you’re a carnivore, vegetarian, or the gluten intolerant person. Yes they have something for you. The pancakes were great. Fluffy, soft, and oh so right. Yes I love pancakes and these definitely got my vote. Every bite was delicious. The tri tip and eggs were another big hit and I am not one to eat a lot of meat so early, well unless you’re bacon, but this tri-tip was perfectly cooked to perfection my fellow Unilocalers. Moist and tender and was perfectly partnered with over medium eggs and potatoes. Being the greedy little ones that we are my co-worker and I opted to share the waffle and although we were stuffed to capacity we made room for a couple of bite. Waffle was perfect and was great with the walnuts and powdered sugar and the peanut butter provided with them was perfect. So yes this is a place you will certainly like to bookmark and visit. The food, the location, and service was amazing.

Are you looking to consume 2,000 calories in less than an hour and take a mcnapperson from a food coma… than come on down to Flappy Jack’s! Your here for simple pedestrian comfort breakfast dishes not unique eats. Appropriate attire should be sweats cause it’s going to get gut busting once your at the halfway point of what’s left on your plate deciding if you should go doggy bag or just suck it up and just polish off the whole plate. Do it now and ask for forgiveness later! Words to live by if your a regular here. If they offered AYCE pancakes this would where I’d park my ass and go to town. They are not dense and the crispy edges on these cakes are just perfect. Oh the corned beef hash tasted made in house… but I can’t confirm that but it’s damn good. Carb up or load up on their 4 egg omelettes as well. Flappy’s is a great reason to get up on Sunday mornings for breakfast. If you hate long waits to work up an appetite. Try coming Mon or Tues instead

I’m not sure I got the full Flappy Jack’s experience, but what I got was pretty good. I went there on a Thursday at about 9am, and the wait wasn’t too bad. Their menu is enormous, so it took a while for me to choose what I wanted. I got the Greek scramble, which is a mix of gyro, spinach, TONS of potatos, and eggs. Definitely not the healthiest, but tastes really good! I got buttermilk pancakes on the side, and they were some of the fluffiest pancakes I’ve ever had. Super light, super delicious. I also tried some blueberry waffles. The design of the waffle was pretty cool, and like the pancake, it was also really light. The blueberries flavors blended very well with the waffle. Will definitely come back to try their skillets and steak and eggs!

3.5 stars I really don’t understand the attraction of this place and why it is so highly reviewed. I was excited to try it but, unfortunately, disappointed in the food. This is very busy diner style restaurant on Route 66. We were a large party and were told on a busy Sunday morning that it would be about an hour’s wait. Once seated, our server was attentive and efficient — much more so than I expected for such a large group. The menu is extensive and they serve just about anything you can think of for breakfast. Portions are quite large. I ordered the country skillet($ 11.29). It is served with country fried steak pieces atop a biscuit and potatoes with 2 eggs cooked your way AND a side of 2 pancakes. The over easy eggs were cooked well and the steak was fine but a bit dry. The potatoes and biscuit were too soggy and bland for my liking. I expected the best pancakes ever, given the restaurant’s namesake, but they were just average pancakes. If you are looking for large portions of decent food in a very busy and casual setting, this is the place to go. But if you are expecting innovative or elevated food, this place is not for you. parking — free lot

I was passing by this place while going home from camping. I saw the great reviews on Unilocal and had to check out this spot! I shared an order of flappy a favorite skillet(diced ham, bell peppers, etc) and the corned beef skillet(I think it was Chicago skillet?). The skillets were savory but it was about 2⁄3 hash brown with no other filling. So be prepared if you want all starch lol. Because of this, you really don’t taste all the other ingredients. It’s overpowered by the potatoes. You get a choice of pancake or toast. And I chose the pancakes. They were dense but light and cooked perfectly. Not doughy like some places. Wait time is about 30 mins around noon on a Sunday for a party of 7. I thought it was good overall, but nothing spectacular. If I can do .5 I would give them 3.5 stars.

I don’t usually hang out in this area but I had a half marathon in the area and it was the highest rated brunch place in the area so we stopped in. The reviews on Unilocal had warned us about the wait so no surprise there… about 45 minutes for 2 people. We browsed the menu while we were waiting and they have a TON of stuff on the menu. Skillets, pancakes, waffles, benedicts, etc. It’s honestly a bit overwhelming but great if you are with a big family, which seems to be the usual crowd. I decided on the crab cake benedict and my best friend got the stuffed cream of wheat pancakes. My benedict was okay. The crab cakes were too breaded for my liking and the hollandaise wasn’t executed properly. The pancakes were good and not a recipe we’ve seen before so that was cool. This place is clearly a novelty destination, but I think their vast menu is effecting the quality of their dishes. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they just wanted the«Route 66 experience.»

When my friend and I arrived at Flappy Jack’s on an early Saturday morning and saw the crowds of people waiting outside, we knew that we were in for something good. Although the hostess predicted a half an hour waiting time, we were buzzed to take a table within 15 – 20 minutes. Food comes out fairly quickly, and people seem to come in and go just as quickly. Flappy Jack’s has a pretty extensive menu, featuring omelettes, skillets, pancakes, crepes, French toast, etc. You would think because the menu covers a variety of options, the food would just be okay, but I feel like each dish is cooked to perfection by the chef. Just expect to leave feeling extremely full and regretting your decision to stuff your face with so much food! For the two of us, we decided to order a sweet and savory dish to get the best of both worlds. We asked the waitress for her suggestions, and she gave us the most popular dishes as well as her personal recommendations. We decided to trust her opinion, and though the dishes were tasty, the sweet dish probably wouldn’t be a dish we would order on our own. Flappy’s Favorite Skillet: this dish has ham, bacon, sausage, onions, bell pepper, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese served with layers of potatoes and 2 eggs any style. And on top of all that food, you also get to choose whether you want toast or 2 buttermilk pancakes. It’s a ton of food, so definitely come with a bunch of hungry people. The skillet was really tasty, but really heavy. Because it’s served on the pan, I would recommend eating the food quickly before it cools. With all that meat, cheese, and potatoes, you can’t really go wrong. We ordered the eggs over easy, so cracking into that yolk and letting it drip over the rest of the food — that was a great idea. Just thinking about it makes me feel like my arteries are getting clogged up. But it was super good. Very filling and not too salty with all that added meat and cheese. I would reorder this if I ever came again. Buttermilk Pancakes: these came with the skillet, and we were pretty full from all the food we had already consumed, but of course we wanted to try out these pancakes. They were really soft and fluffy, and with all the butter and syrup, it tasted really yummy. As long as the pancakes are fluffy, you can’t go wrong in my book. I still prefer the pancakes at Lincoln and JiST more, but these were tasty for being a side dish. Stuffed French Toast: we were deciding between this and the popular Flappy’s Special French Toast. The waitress recommended the stuffed on to us, just because it’s more unique. We decided to go for it, getting a strawberry fruit compote to go alongside the stuffed toast. To be honest, this dish was tasty, but because it’s stuffed with sweet cheese — we were pretty full within a few bites. And there were a total of three big pieces! The French toast wasn’t too sweet and I did enjoy the sweet cheese, but eating it all together with the strawberry compote just was too much. For both of us, we’re not used to eating such a heavy dish(alongside the skillet and pancakes), so after a few bites we stopped enjoying it. The compote was a bit cloying and didn’t mess too well with the sweet cheese. I think ordering a regular French toast would definitely be a safer choice. The service was decent. After serving us our food, our waitress disappeared. We had to flag her down several times to get our water cups refilled, and she never came back. We ended up just leaving and never getting our cups refilled. tl;dr — I would come back to try their popular Egg Benedicts dishes. I would also want to try just a plain French toast or reorder the skillet. And they have Belgian waffles! We wanted to order that, too. There are too many dishes I want to try, so I will be back soon! I would recommend bringing a large and hungry group so that you’re able to try multiple dishes since they have so many good choices here!

In search of some good breakfast, I ran across this almost 5 star breakfast spot on Unilocal. After my experience I seriously don’t get all the hype about this place. I ordered the flappy’s skillet and it was decent, nothing spectacular. It Had a lot of potatoes, very little egg, and they were shy on the sausage and bacon. Water was tap-so wasn’t that good. They charge $ 1 for one jalapeño, thought that was a rip off. My friend ordered the pork chops. The pork chops were well seasoned, unfortunately she found a hair in her food halfway in. My sister enjoyed her omelet, except her potatoes were very starchy and under seasoned. In the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were very dry and hard. Overall none of us finished our meal or wanted to take the remaining food home. Maybe the almost five stars is for their sweet side of the menu. Unfortunately for us, this place was a disappointment. Wouldn’t recommend this place.
