Great ambience, happy staff, and wonderful food! Had crab cakes as starters(came as 2) they were perfectly crispy outside and still a bit juicy on the inside. Highly recommend the mushroom ravioli! Portions are quite large here — you’ll definitely get your money’s worth

The cauliflower and cheese soup is amazing. I could sit there and eat a big bowl everyday. The crab bun(crab cake burger) was average, it was tasty but I recommend the salmon cakes instead. The staff was very nice and if I were in the area again, I would stop by. I recommend this place for lunch

Oh my goodness — I’ve been coming out here for years and didn’t know they were here. We really like the place a lot. The interior is somewhat eclectic but tastefully done. The seating is a little cramped. The menu is great and the specials are even better. They have an extensive wine and beer selection as well. The service was good — able to explain the specials and walk us through some questions we had. We did wait longer than I would have preferred to place our order but everything did come out almost perfect — the medium steak came out medium rare, but it was a very good steak so perhaps the chef knew better than we did. It’s one of those places that costs a good bit yet I still feel like we came out of there with a deal. The food is so good that the entire table was silent as we enjoyed each bite. I’ll be coming back, there are lots of great sounding dishes to try. I’ll also be making a reservation next time — I wouldn’t be happy to have to wait to get to enjoy the fare they offer. While they are too gracious to refuse service to anyone, guys — wear a regular, button down shirt and something other than jeans. Ladies, if you read the suggestion for guys, you probably don’t need me to tell you anything.

Nice restaurant with a pleasant, airy interior, friendly and efficient staff and great food. Was staying nearby for a quick one night trip to the beach for Mother’s Day with the family. The place had a number of tables and was pretty full, there was one group waiting. We had made a reservation and was given a nice table by the window without a delay. With a full bar and a decent wine list, there are many options to choose from once we were asked for our drink order., Martini hit the spot. After bread service, we started with crab cakes. Nice and plumb and full of crab. Tasty, they didn’t last long. Kids got pasta dishes(large portions which provided dinner the next night too). My wife had a ceaser salad with halibut, I enjoyed a properly cooked rib eye with a spice rub and three grilled shrimp. Good meal. Nice service, would definitely recommend.

food was pretty good but my wife’s salad dressing tasted a little old. Service was o.k. and the atmosphere was fun. We might try it again to see if it was just a «one time downer»

The lo-light of the evening was my entrée coming out a good 5 minutes after the rest of the table. Otherwise food was pretty good, but we were definitely overlooked by our server for the bigger table she was serving. At the end we were brought 3 fortune cookies? … for a table of 4. WTF?

Ambiance was nice. Food was good. Great presentation. Wanted to try so many things on the menu but was seeking a light dinner. Went with the salmon cakes and salad. Waitress seemed a little out of it… forgot my kombucha. I think its great that they even had kombucha. Kids burger was big… but thats all it came with was a burger. Would definitely return.

I can’t believe this quality of food can be found in a almost hidden part of the town. Food, service and decorations are all exceptional. I had bay oyster with sauté spinach, my husband had Bouillabaisse. They are all delicious and perfectly prepared.

There are a couple of upscale, white tablecloth restaurants along the Oregon Coast, but by and large the coast is populated with average quality seafood joints, bars, and lots of casual dining establishments. Most are average, a few are good, and even fewer are noteworthy. But the Side Door Café is among the latter. In spite of the ambience and haute cuisine flourishes on the menu, this is really more of an casual dining experience with an upscale flair. The menu is vast, with something for everyone. The service is attentive and friendly, and the food preparation and execution are pretty good. Some of their dishes like the risotto or the soba noodles lean a bit too heavily on the butter, oil, or cream, and might benefit from a bit more subtlety. But there’s no arguing that the flavors deliver. And you gotta appreciate the creativity of place that serves quesadilla made with pear and cheese stuffing. The bottom is that Side Door delivers and stands out from the majority of Oregon Coast restaurants. They serve good food in a beautiful setting with a diverse and creative menu that offers something for everyone. Some things are a bit too simple, or too heavy, but nothing is really bad and most of the menu looks pretty tasty. If you’re in the area, this is a great choice for some good food and pleasant meal.

Our table ordered: Northwest Marionberry Salad, Salmon Cakes, and Crab Cakes. We are going back again this week for dessert! The portions are excellent and the food is fresh and local. We come to Depoe Bay annually and we will be making this spot a part of the tradition. Spinach with the crab cakes was absolutely delicious. Be sure to ask for bread with your salad or soup — great warm baguette. We went during the slow time(around 3:30) — so we had no problem with service. We were so happy we stopped!

I don’t think I ever give five stars. But this meal went above expectations. Upon sitting I was a little nervous because most of the customers were well above sixty five and the menu was more of a $$$ vs. $$. I ordered the 8oz sirloin and the wife had a chargrilled salmon. The salmon was delightful, fresh and well seasoned. It paired perfectly with the crispy carrots and potato mash. The capers sauce was conservative but added to the flavor well. The Oregon Pinot Gris was a good pair. The steak. OMG. I can’t remember the last time I had such a tender, perfect medium rare, sirloin. Butter knife tender and each bite was bliss. I actually found myself chewing slower to enjoy it as much as I could. The twice baked cheddar potato was great with just the right amount of crisp on the skin. I drank a Barbera and it was like applause to the sympathy on my tastebuds. We fought over what to have for dessert but everyone and their brother said to try the key lime pie. Good portioned slice laying in a Marion berry pool. Smooth, creamy northwestern perfection. This was no Miami key lime, it was a cool weather treat. Great work Side Door.

Side Door appeared while searching for some food to feed my family between Lincoln City and Newport. Even if it was in a larger city, I think it would hold up as a high 4⁄5 star place. It’s in an unassuming place: on a side street off of the highway, next to a little post office, not oceanside or anything. Once you’re inside, that makes no difference. The space is really cool, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light during the day. There are cozy booths with a fair amount of privacy. We arrived on a Saturday for an early dinner without a reservation and were quickly seated. The place was empty, but the hostess hesitated before seating us, probably because it was about to get very busy with all of the reservations for dinners. Over the course of our meal, the place filled up. The food was spot on. My family ordered fish and burgers, and enjoyed their meals. There’s a bunch of fish/meat on the menu, and the list of vegetarian options is short. The entrée is risotto, which I’ve learned to be skeptical of. But I quickly put aside those skepticisms. This risotto isn’t some vegetarian item thrown on the menu so we won’t get cranky. A huge slice of roasted squash, hazelnuts, and sautéed vegetables puts it in a league of its own.

Goodness. Can’t remember a better tasting and visually pleasing seafood feast in decades. The service, topped off with some local Yamhill Co. pinot, was the best. What a way to celebrate my Mom’s 91st birthday(last night). The seafood fettucine, salmon gastrique special and cajun shrimp cheese soup were top notch. This will be a regular stop when we sojourn to the central Oregon coast(used to be the Bay House but the taste, price, service and fewer crowds). Tonight, one of our favorite haunts during high tide and an ocean storm is Tidal Rave in Depoe Bay.

This place is a hidden gem we’ve been eating in Lincoln city for 20 years and how I never knew about this place I will never know. Lunch and dinner was fantastic everything was perfect seriously I wanted to hug the chef. We had lunch and it was so good we made a reservation for dinner our only disappointment is that they don’t serve breakfast.

This was the best food we had in Oregon. The restaurant was so adorable, our waiter was so sweet and the food was amazing. I had the vegetable risotto — I highly recommend that! So good, with so much flavor and enough food to share. I highly highly recommend this place for anyone who is along the coast. Do make a reservation because it such a small restaurant

Waiter was very nice but steak overcooked. I’m not eating the steak and taking it back for the dog. Charged full price for dinner. Basically if they screw up, you’re forced to have dessert to make it right in their minds. No respect for restaurants that don’t stand behind what they serve. Sad that the waiter recognized steak was overcooked but he did nothing to get management to tske something off our bill. Go up the road to Tidal Raves, you won’t be disappointed.

We were vacationing in Gleneden Beach and didn’t want to drive too far for dinner. In fact, we walked over. We were seated quickly(reservations are encouraged on busy days) and delighted with our food. Service was excellent. We decided to go back a few days later and had another wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

What a hidden gem along the Oregon coast outside Lincoln City. Funky atmosphere! We went for lunch which was a casual affair and had the chicken wrap and crab melt. Both were well presented and tasted delish! The key lime pie was quite a large slice and simply yummy Quite a romantic setting for evening dining. All the walls in the bathroom were chalkboard so you could share your thoughts of the day. I would recommend this restaurant as a do not miss. We will be back on our next venture down to Lincoln City

On a recent trip, we came back two nights in a row. Our other choice had closed for the season. Their loss. We tried out the specials; Hubbs with the steak, then risotto. Me with the Halibut and then the next night, the crab and cheese appetizer(it was huge, I ordered it for myself, no regrets!) We had a really friendly waiter both nights. Each night, we were asked if we had reservations(it had never occurred to us to make them on the coast) and we didn’t, but were given great seats, anyway. Lovely, romantic place. Will be back for the dessert if it kills us; we didn’t have room, but it looked amazing!
