Update: The boyfriend and I went back to this store the day after I wrote this review and we had a VERY different(negative) experience. The two employees working seemed to just want to sell us something the whole time. They were not friendly and did not seem too interested in our upgrade. It honestly seemed they wanted us out. If you go to this store, ask for Tom. He is great and the reason we went back a few days later. He was working and helped us tremendously. Seriously, ask for Tom.

I have been here multiple times in the past few years and usually get assistance from Malik, who is super helpful and informative. He takes his time to answer all questions and assist in any way he can. If you’re getting a new phone and screen protector, they will apply it perfectly for you, and take the time to transfer your apps, etc. from the old phone. The only downside to this AT&T location is their shortened evening hours(7pm closing time, waaat?), but my husband and I still prefer coming to this store because of the excellent customer service.

So yeah, I admit it. I’m a latent dork: I waited in line to buy the new goddam iPhone. I picked this Glenmont location because it’s fairly new and relatively unknown, and figured if I showed up 45 minutes early there wouldn’t be much of a crowd. Plus, this place virtually guaranteed that I wouldn’t see anyone I knew who would see me in line and think, «That dork.» When I arrived, there were only 20 or so people, including a few who’d driven from the Berkshires. Some guy near the front of the line loudly pontificated on the merits of such and such protective sleeve for the phone, saying you could read about it on his blog. Sure. Others were rabid fanboys/girls and the rest were dorks like me. To my regret I actually had a long detailed conversation with a complete stranger about Samsung’s HDTV user interface. The doors finally opened. They allowed only four customers at a time and then they’d lock the store. By now everyone knows about the software registration debacle that transpired worldwide, and I left the store at 10 am with a bricked phone. The staff was clearly exasperated, but held up diligently under the firm and assured guidance of their manager. I came back later in the afternoon, the store was entirely empty, and they registered and unlocked the phone in 30 seconds. The manager and staff were all relieved and told stories about the morning like they’d survived My Lai. Now I LOVE my iPhone! And you can go ahead and say it: «Dork.»
