OK, this was my first time there and it was awesome! A friend told me about it and I am glad he did. Staff was great, food was awesome and the prices are right. If you are in the mood for excellent BBQ, this is a place I highly recommend checking out.

The only food missing in Chicago is a Good Bbq place. Not anymore! We went here and I thought it will be a crappy place since it is small. My husband ordered the brisket and pulled pork. They serve the food with bread. The bread is so good. The brisket and pulled pork is so delicious and juicy. I don’t miss going to TN any more for a good bbq. they even have free ice cream. :-) I will surely go back to this place.

Decent suburban BBQ but a bit pricey. I prefer spots in the city like the Smoke Daddy.

Place is dead. Polite staff. Pricey options. Brisket was dry, not much taste. Also waffle fries seasonless, no dipping cheese available. Sweet sauce by soda machine had a hair in it. Otherwise clean.

Gross! I smoke my own bbq a lot, and visit bbq restaurants all the time, this by far was the worst thing I have ever tasted that claimed to be bbq! I only got the brisket(which was doused with(Wesson) oil), never in my life have I seen liquid brisket. The Mac and cheese was dry(needed the Wesson oil I guess) and lumpy. How do you screw up Mac and cheese? Onion straws were good. Brisket is usually sliced, even on their menu it shows sliced… This was a few chucks and then the fat cap(that should be trimmed off the top and discarded). I have been to other Dickies but will not be back at this one.

This place is terrible. The service was slow, the food was luke warm and the portions were tiny. I was suggest skipping this one.

Tried these guys for the first time and great experience. I had them deliver food for about 15 people and all was good. I got the sliced beef brisket and pulled pork. Both were awesome and lean. They came warm in trays with BBQ sauce on the side. You could really see the lean meat since they were not buried in the BBQ. We went with their traditional sauce which has just the right amount of kick to it. All three sides were great especially the twice baked potato tray. I like BBQ and these guys have solid sandwiches. I think owner or manager delivered the food and he made sure all was delivered and complete. He was very personable and delivered on the minute. Just a great experience overall. We will be back and stop in next time in Glenview.

My company in Glenview just hired Dickey’s to cater our quarterly meeting for our branch. While it’s a little higher in price per person than we usually spend for catering(pizza, sandwiches can be less than $ 5 per person!), having Dickey’s was a huge success! I received a catering quote within a few hours of the request and was able to confirm my order within a few hours of saying I was ready to go. Jordan at the Glenview location was so nice and offered great suggestions for options since we were catering. I was really nervous about how much I was spending, but he really put a lot of value in what they provide. Totally shocked with how awesome everything showed up. So organized! Since we were hosting our BBQ outside in our parking lot, they helped keep thing in the right bags so we can easily have them ready for people to take and not blow away! Received more than enough of all food for 80 people, all the fixings necessary, it was great! We ordered pulled pork, beef brisket(all sauce comes on the side), mac and cheese, potato casserole, cole slaw and sweet tea. Every single thing was phenomenal. Multiple 2nd helpings occurring! Best of all, all of my employees are SO happy and thankful! They are Dickey’s fans for life. Not too heavy for a mid-workday lunch, fills you up and is so delicious! Love that they’re so close in Glenview now. Worth the extra money per person for the hassle free set up for catering and a high quality BBQ to impress my employees. Thanks Dickeys for making our meeting a success!

The last time we got take out from there, the brisket that we ordered was clearly the end of the pile with a lot of dry little pieces(some burnt) instead of fresh solid slices. When this happens, I would appreciate a heads up or a small apology that my order isn’t what they normally serve. I would’ve understood as it happens and restaurants can run out of food. It was very disappointing to go home expecting what we got last time and what we had in front of us just didn’t deliver :(We were surprised since our order was picked up around 7:30pm on a Saturday– were they already running out of brisket when they close at 9? That said, I would go back, but maybe order earlier.

I heard from the owner with a apology and a generous offer of free food. Very nice gesture but I will come in and buy my own. All is well.

The food at Dickey’s is always great, but that’s not the reason for the perfect 5 star rating. It’s the engagement and quality of service you get from the employees — especially Jason; the man is a one person hospitality machine — is so phenomenal, that any rating less than a 5 would fail to describe the experience at Dickey’s. Don’t get me wrong, the food is excellent and at least 4 stars(would be 5 if I wasn’t tempted to compare against Real Urban BBQ in Highland Park), but the Service takes it to the next level. We have tried the brisket, pulled pork, ribs, polish sausage, and cheddar sausage in the meats options. For the sides… we have enjoyed the slaw, jalapeño beans, waffle iron fries, Mac n Cheese, and the fried Okra. My ratings for each are as follows: Brisket — best in the neighborhood, succulent and juicy, bursting with flavor — 10⁄10 Pulled pork — a close second to the brisket, but lacks the richness for a perfect score — 9⁄10 Polish — outstanding smokiness and complex flavor — 9⁄10 Cheddar sausage — good but not great, has a good kick to it — 8⁄10 Ribs are decent — 7⁄10 Sides: Okra — one of the best southern sides anywhere — 10⁄10 Slaw — cool, refreshing, and chunky(not shredded). Perfect supplement to the rich meats — 9⁄10 Jalapeño beans — unique but not great — 7⁄10 Waffle Iron Fries — very enjoyable, but could be seasoned better — 7⁄10 Mac n Cheese — should avoid, all cream and no flavor — 5⁄10 Sauces: Spicy — 10⁄10 — absolutely brilliant and complex flavor, not too spicy either Regular — 8⁄10 Sweet — 8⁄10 Yeast rolls — YUMMMM, but rich and heavy on the belly. 9⁄10 Sweet tea — excellent. clean and crisp, with no aftertaste. Ice cream — decent soft serve, and is free :) Again, despite the excellent food, it is the service(Jason and his team) that sets this place apart. Bravo!

Just alright, won’t be returning. Only came by for carryout because of a certificate and wasn’t impressed. I ordered some sliced beef brisket, pulled pork, and some ribs. It’s not that anything was bad or dry, things were just ‘ok’. One thing is food being so-so, but paying more than it’s worth makes things hard to swallow. Pun unintended. I took home some mild and spicy bbq sauces and the spicy was anything but, though it tasted better than the mild. Skipped the sides and made our own coleslaw at home.

How long has Dickey’s been here? I’m going to have to get my peripheral vision checked because I drive on this stretch of Waukegan Rd all the time and have never noticed their sign until yesterday. BBQ close to home? I had to check it out. The restaurant is small. There are about seven 4 tops and a few window seats and in the middle are the sauces, soda(pop!) fountain, and free ice cream machine. As you walk in, there is menu that shows the different options you have. 1−2−3 meat platters, sandwiches, meat by the lbs. The guy behind the counter asked if it was my first time and said he’d be happy to let me try a sample of anything they offered. After tasting the pulled pork, I decided on the 2 meat platter which also come with 2 sides, pickles n onions and a yeast roll. Originally I chose the pulled pork and ribs but I was told that they portion everything by weight and for the platter, the serving size is one rib. Only one rib? On to the next option! I’ve had some lousy brisket lately and I wanted to see if Dickey’s could break the curse. Unfortunately, they couldn’t. It was so dry and while sauce helped, it was a disappointment. Others seem to have had better luck with the brisket but I wasn’t a fan. The pulled pork had good flavor but it was pretty dry too. For my sides, I chose the mac n cheese and the jalapeño beans. The mac and cheese was just alright. Not terrible but the cheese was starting to congeal and didn’t look very appetizing. It was in a weird tweener-goopy stage of congealificationality. The beans had no sweetness at all. Maybe it’s a regional style but not my style. After I mixed in some bbq sauce, they were far far better. With a drink, my lunch came out to a hair over $ 15. For what you get, I thought the price was a little high. I’ll probably stop by again to try the ribs but I don’t think I’ll hurry back.

I find myself coming in to Dickey’s every 4 – 6 weeks or so. What draws me in? The selection of BBQ meat(brisket and pulled pork are my go to’s), the yeast roll(so soft, fluffy, and craveable), and making use of my frequent diner card(I’m due for a free sammich on my next visit). A 2-meat plate is about $ 13, which comes with 2 sides and a roll. Note: Dickey’s has scales for weighing the portions of meat, so the amount of meat you get on each visit should be consistent. Bonus: when you dine in, there’s free soft serve included. Two things I really wish for: 1) Better service. Better defined as more welcoming, more enthusiastic, more prompt. On one occasion, there were no other customers in the entire establishment and 3 – 4 employees working, and somehow it took a good 15 minutes to slice up some brisket. I would describe service as a little rough around the edges. It takes a little too long to get in and get out, regardless of how busy it is, and I haven’t ever seen the place occupied by more than 2 out of 8 or so tables. 2) Selection of «cleaner» sides. While you can get your waffle fry, mac ‘n cheese, and fried okra fix here, I wish there was a collard greens or roasted squash side.

Dickie’s is a wonderful fast casual option for this neighborhood based on the following reasons: A.) The bbq is not only solid as are the bbq sauces but there are healthy options: turkey & chicken breast as well as honey bbq ham, all low fat meats. We also sampled brisket & pulled pork. Very good. B.) The young men behind the counter were courteous and friendly and professional. C.) Given the all time price highs on beef, pork, and poultry, prices especially for bbq were very reeasonable. And the kids meals were generous with a high quality plastic souvenir cup. D.) Place was clean and plastic the silverware was of highest sturdiness and quality. E.) Not the best, but free soft serve. F.) Salad. was pretty good as well. Wish they could char my bbq to a hotter temp and wish they had baby backs, otherwise good. Recommended.

As you can tell, my first name is Richard. When I was a child, my parents called me «Dickie,» a rather silly name; and I really never liked it. This place is called«Dickey’s,» and I think that is a silly name, too. Last week, my wife went in for a colonoscopy, and those of you who know what this procedure is know that it is relatively disgusting. You have to drink a yucky beverage the night before, and when the procedure is over, you are sedated for several hours. For understandable reasons, Mrs. B. was not in a mood to prepare dinner; so Mr. Johnny-On-The-Spot found a discount coupon on the North Shore Plus website(similar to Groupon), and headed out to Dickey’s to pick up the repast. The establishment offers counter service, and quite a few people were eating inside. For the eat-in customers, they put the grub on a tray lined with paper. I have addressed this paper-lined tray phenomenon in two of my other scholarly treatises. Perhaps this is a Village of Glenview statute passed by the local board: If Richard B shows up, put the stuff on a paper-lined tray. I ordered their beef brisket plate for Mrs. B., a chicken plate for our daughter Joanne(a.k.a. Big Red), and a turkey plate for the Glenview Geezer. In addition, each of us got two side orders, a roll, and«free» ice cream. The stuff was not put on a plate: they used cardboard and clamshell containers. Hey, this BBQ stuff is all right! And, I liked their sweet-and-sour sauce, too. Mrs B and Big Red devoured the meal in record time. They were on their ice cream when I had merely unwrapped my stuff. Gobble, gobble, gobble. I think we may go there again because we can order up to four deals. Next time, we will delight in the intimate atmosphere of Dickey’s. ANDDON’T CALLMEDICKIENORDICKEY: I HATETHATNAME.

We came here at about 3PM on a Friday afternoon, and there was nobody ahead of us. The hanging menu is not straightforward, the meat choices were not listed by the combo prices. It didn’t seem obvious that ham and chicken were available. But I went there to try the ribs, based on numerous positive Unilocal reviews. Overall disappointed… ribs were WAY too salty(a surprising admission from a salt-aholic like me) ! I barely was motivated to finish the 3rd and 4th ribs. Brisket was dry, but flavorful. Yet, adding sauce to it just masked the good beef flavor. So you couldn’t win. Sliced pickles & raw onions on top of the brisket? Didn’t make sense. This wasn’t a sandwich. Fried onion rings were tasty, but way too oily and salty… but like that at most places, I think. Waffle fries were decent, but bordering on bland. Serving sizes for the sides were decent. BUT… for ~$ 12.50(3-meat combo), I expected more meat. Or better quality. Not mega-salty, inconsistently moist/tough ribs. I did like that the sauces were heated– brings out more of the flavor. Not worth return visit. My mouth is still craving water !!

Was eager to try this place as I had visited one in Las Vegas and it was pretty decent. Well, so is this Dickey’s! I had the Thursday special for $ 8.99 which included some pulled pork, their cheddar sausage, two sides(I did cole slaw and mac/cheese), a roll and a large drink. Good value for the meal — ordinarily I would not have tried sausage at a BBQ place, but I’m glad I did as it was pretty good. Picked the«sweet» sauce — it was piping hot and had a slight kick to it — good stuff. I went here around 3:30 in the afternoon — always an interesting time to visit a restaurant as they either do really well, or you find that service and food quality is a low priority at that time. Happy to report that Dickey’s did well. Everything came out fresh and at good serving temperatures. The only item that was not quite ready was the roll — they were baking when I came in and I received that shortly after I sat down, so no issue there. Service was fine as well. Dickey’s is a chain and while I prefer to visit independent places when possible, this spot gets my vote versus a couple others in the N/NW burbs. Of course, I hear there’s a good one in Highland Park, so that número uno status might be short-lived.
