Amazing place. Hand cut Ribeye was amazing — great meat seasoned and cooked perfectly. Mixed drinks from the bar were excellent. Home made deserts were generous. Aaron was a great Chef; Micahela was a wonderful server.

Although, we didn’t have the steaks,(we had grilled chicken breasts), the cuts of steaks the chef rolled out were great cuts of meat. The chicken was grilled and seasoned to perfection. Side dishes were very good. I would go back again, if we lived in the area, to try the steaks and take the leftovers home. Excellent friendly service by staff. Reasonable prices for quality of meats and service.

Great place in Goldsboro to have a nice dinner date not a big menu at all but one of the best steaks in town

Very good! This was our first time here and it will not be the last. There is not an appetizer selection but a cheese and cracker appartif is offered. The entrée includes the salad bar, which offers a fair selection of items to add to your salad. For dinner my husband and I both had the ribeye, one with asparagus and one with the baked potatoe. They were both cooked exactly as we ordered. The asparagus was seasoned and cooked perfectly as was the large baked potatoe. Dinner is not complete without dessert so I chose the homemade Swiss Chocolate cake that the server said Carl’s mom makes. It was FABULOUS! Though we did not order mixed drinks the prices that we saw were very fair, $ 6 or $ 7. The restaurants in Raleigh that we generally frequent are more like $ 12 and up. I also liked the simple décor. It reminds me of a 50’s era lounge. We will most definitely return.

I loved the cheese and crackers you get before your food comes! The entrees are cooked perfectly. Salad bar was okay. Price seemed a little high, but not too bad. We will be going again.

Excellent food service and atmosphere! Definitely not your run of the mill steakhouse. Fresh NOT frozen beef so if you order a 10oz steak that’s what you will get cooked and seasoned to perfection might I add! Great for a romantic dinner out without the kids however I take the kids they love the food too which is saying a lot because they’re 2 and 3!

A bright spot on the otherwise dismal Goldsboro restaurant scene. Service excellent. Food excellent. Atmosphere excellent. Could not be more pleased.

Wow … Another one in the«winner» category. Great place for a quiet, delicious dinner. Due to the small dining room(3 – 6 tops, 3 – 4 tops &4 booths … plus 8 seats at the bar), they recommend reservations for groups of eight or over. Very personable waitress and chef. The steaks were cooked perfectly, the twice-baked potatoes were amazing and the Hershey Bar Cake is to die for. Highly recommended!

I’m disappointed to say that I thought this place was just alright. I really enjoyed the sample plate I tried at Taste of Wayne festival and after reading all the great reviews, I figured the food in restaurant would only be better. My husband, two children and myself came in for a Sunday lunch. I ordered a medium ribeye but it ended up being closer to well done, no pink center(it wasn’t Carl who cooked it). My husband ordered a sirloin and thought that it was just ok as well. Not completely sure if I would want to go back. A good tip, sign up for their email newsletter and you will get a voucher for $ 10.00 off your bill.

This restaurant isn’t anything fancy but they know steak! You get to see the beef before it goes on the grill to be prepared to perfection. The staff are friendly and accommodating from the minute you arrive. We will return!

I really enjoyed this place. They only have a few menu items, but they execute them extremely well, and I think that is pretty cool. There is a salad bar, which I assume is all you can eat. The server will get you started on drinks, then the chef comes out to greet you with his cart of beef. There are a few sample sizes on the cart to help you choose which size is right for you. Then he cuts your steak right off in front of you and cooks it to order. You get a choice of a baked potato or twice baked potato. It wasn’t a cheap dinner, but I felt pampered and well fed when I left. They may have added more menu items since I visited, but I think their theme is being a damn good steak house, so I wouldn’t expect their menu to expand much more. It’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you live in Goldsboro and want to try something different. I look forward for any excuse to have a nice steak dinner here again.

For New Year’s Eve, we try to forgo the Triangle and go Down East for dinner. After some Unilocal polling, we decided on Carl & Chelle’s Grill Room. Driving up conveniently located off Highway 70, we discovered it was probably at one time an old Pizza Hut. I love a refurbished building and the décor was very modern for off Highway 70 in Goldsboro NC. One reason we bypassed Wilson’s Beefmastor Inn was because we heard it was so popular but small. Well now we know why they call it a «Grill Room». The place was perfectly intimate with only 10 tables but no line to get in and seated. They have a bar to sit at if you do have to wait. We were seated by Chelle herself and soon after the owner Carl brought over the sides of beef he’d be cooking for us. I like hands-on owners. The complimentary cheddar crock with crackers was a great start to our meal. Not a cheddar fan? You can get bread instead. A 25-item salad bar was surprisingly filling and I could have done with some honey mustard dressing but the Italian dressing was good enough. The entrees come with sauteed mushrooms or grilled caramelized onions. The onions must have been great because by the time I asked to try some, they had all eaten theirs. You can get a large baked potato or twice-baked mashed potatoes. I did get a chance to try both which were great. The buttered up grilled bread was a nice touch as well. Between the four of us, we ordered three steaks cooked three different ways. Carl cooked each to perfection. The wife got the chicken which more than filled up the plate. Can I get a to-go box please? Ironically, the only thing I left on my plate was the sauteed mushrooms and I love mushrooms. According to our NY-native waitress, the mushrooms are marinated in Amy’s Lizard Lick sauce. Sorry Amy, but it didn’t agree with me. Our waitress did though. I asked quite a few questions of her and Carl, and all were answered with a smile. Great food, great staff, and a wonderful New Year’s Eve down east.

The place is nice and cozy. A little small but nice atmosphere. The waitress is very mice and attentive. The menu is simple: steak or filet … Well still steak, vegetarians sorry, not a good place for ya. I have ordered the 8 oz ribeye with baked potato and onions. Oh and it’s come with a salad bar. Salad is nice n fresh, the steak is good and nicely seasoned but the amazing part was the onions. The onions taste awesome(although it does not look awesome)… The price is little pricey but not too bad. For one person, I have to pay almost 30 dollars and that is not include tips(oh and i have sweet tea)…I will recommend to eat in this place for a special occasion but definitely not like a everyday thing.

My wife andI decided to try this place for the first time. The price includes salad, steamed onion, baked potato,(or twice baked potato) and a small slice of texas toast. Their prices are as follows: 8oz $ 23.9510oz $ 27.4512oz $ 30.95 larger cuts 1.75 per additional ounce. I must say the food was very good and the service was great, however you will not get out of there for 30 dollars if two of you eat. They must have been running a special when that other couple got out for 30 bucks. It will not happen now. If you don’t mind spending more than 60 dollars for your dinners then tis is a place for you. Food = good Service= good Price= to high Atmosphere=good

UPDATE(April 2015): I had a really mind-boggling experience here just a few weeks back. Two weeks before Valentines Day, my wife and I made«reservations» for dinner on VDay evening. We confirmed those reservations twice, once over the phone, once in person. Two different employees told us they would confirm that we were on the list. So, Valentine’s Day rolls around, we got all spiffied up(I even put on a tie), and we head to Carl & Chelle’s. We get there, and the rude lady at the front door informs me that they only take reservations for large parties, and we can wait until 9:30 or 10 P.M. for a table(our«reservation» was set for 6:30 or 7, I believe). What could I do? I huffed out, and I was ticked. Every restaurant in Goldsboro was packed, so I went home and cooked dinner. Carl and Chelle’s, please inform ALL of your employees of this«policy,» if indeed it is your policy. Please inform your customers as well, because TWICE we were told that we had reservations. It left a bad taste in my mouth. But you know what didn’t? The steak that I went home and cooked on my kamado grill on Valentines Day. It was half the price and twice the flavor… ORIGINALREVIEW: Great food, great people, great atmosphere. This is the best steak in Goldsboro hands down. The restaurant is small, so expect lines and wait times on the weekends, but most weeknights you can walk right in and be seated. Don’t expect a cheap meal here either. They cook quality steaks, and they cook them well. They’ll come to your table and cut it right in front of you — so you see the quality that you are paying for. Very much worth the money, and the wait(if there is one) — you won’t be disappointed in this steakhouse!

They focus on one thing here. That is steak. Ribeye to be exact. You have your choice at the salad bar, and you can have your choice of baked potato or twice baked potato. The food was delicious. For those of you that want some choices on life, this place may not be for you. I found it very good and those people in charge that night were pleasant to talk to also. I will definitely be back.

Let’s face it… when a new restaurant comes to Goldsboro, the news spreads like wild fire. However, I was skeptical(big surprise) assuming that this was just going to be another run-of-the-mill chain. I was quite wrong. First impressions: Looks can be deceiving. I will be honest: the outside looked like a repainted Waffle House so, I was a bit scared on what my dining experience would be. The inside looked nothing like the outside, though. The restaurant had a pleasant, almost romantic atmosphere. It had the diner-like kitchen and a huge counter, but a cute and cozy dining room too. Okay so time for the food… First, there are no menus. You have the choice of a ribeye or a filet. Vegetarians, sorry. The chef rolls out a cart and you tell him how big of a piece you would like of the ribeye and he cuts it right there. I went with the 8 oz, which was plenty for me. As for sides, you have a choice of a baked potato or twice-baked mashed potatoes and can help yourself to their salad bar. The steak was great-perfectly seasoned and to my temperature preference. I cleaned my plate. Service: The service was friendly and attentive. I liked how the chef actually came to our table and greeted us. It just felt warm. Price: You cannot beat the price! For two steaks and 2 glasses of wine, our bill was less than $ 30. I was absolutely floored. Wine list: Could be better, but I was just glad they had it. Reservations: not required
