I have been a patron of Gilligan’s for some time and I was shocked last night to see how much their prices have increased, but the quality and quantity of the food have decreased. The jalapeño hush puppies are always great. The She crab soup had the consistency of a watery soup and there was little crab content(or taste) in the soup. We sent it back. The crab cake dinner was ok, but the crab cakes seem to get smaller every year. For $ 18 – 19 they are too expensive. We also had the salt and pepper catfish. It was ok portion wise, but the taste was so so. I chalked that up to it being a lunch item ordered at dinner time so maybe that was the problem. The sides that we had were ok. The corn on the cob was excellent, we just didn’t care much for the mashed potatoes because they had a sweet taste to them. Our waitress was probably the highlight of the visit as she was prompt, courteous, and kept our drinks topped of with us never having to ask for anything. Overall, Gilligan’s is an ok place to eat, but they have lost something in the area of food quality vs price. I may try the Moncks Corner location next time just to see if these are franchise-wide issues. I will not be returning to the Goose Creek location any time soon.

I was a bit disappointed the last time we went. First I was told that reservations are not allowed only for them to changed them and says ok. The service was not the best. We kept asking for our food and the on house hush puppies wasn’t brought out until 30 min after we sat down. To bring our business with 15 people and get a mediocre service was unacceptable. If the restaurant was busy I would have understand but there were only 3 other tables. I’m gonna have to re-think of coming back here.

Anyone considering dining here should understand that most entrees are $ 18 and up. For two people ordering dinner and two non-alcoholic beverages be prepared to spend a minimum of $ 50 with a tip… For the life of me I can not understand why anyone would ever dine here more than once. It’s that bad… First of all, the food is WAY overpriced for what you get. The portions are very small for the high price you are paying for most entrees. I had the crab cake dinner if you can call it that. The«crab cakes» consiseted of two 4 inch wide by ½ inch high«hockey puck» looking cakes. What a joke. These are made of mostly filler and were some of the lamest crab cakes I have ever had. If you happen to go to a restaurant in Maryland where they serve REAL crab cakes you will know what I mean. The crab cakes in MD are like the size of baseballs, not flat hockey pucks… At $ 18 for this«entrée» I felt ripped off considering what I was served. The«entrée» also included two«sides». One of my sides was a saled which even a rabbitt would have scoffed at… Nuff said. You would be much better off driving down the street and eating at a Captain D’s Seafood joint than spending your hard earned money at this place. Judging by the looks of the people going in and out of this place while I was there it seems clear to me that they are either very stupid or they actually think this place is a good place to dine at. Again, why anyone would revisit this place is beyond comprehension. Just to make things clear. I have eaten at many restaurants in at least half the states in the USA and also several countries. Anytime you read a review you should always consider the source. I also never eat at fast food joints so you can rest assured that this review is coming from someone who has class and does not live in a trailer park or drives a pick-up truck and wears a baseball cap in reverse… I will never patronize this place again…

Good food with fast service. Great fried shrimp. Love the hush puppies. Coke slaw was tummy. Fried founder was okay. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Reasonable prices and good portions.

New to Goose Creek. Not to Charleston. Good was good and plentiful. Service was awful again. We have tried this almost 4 times and the service quite frankly sucks. We ordered $ 20 entrees. My boyfriend put his finger up to the waitress across the bar area requesting service and she said«Whatcha need?» He said«I need you to come here please?“‘ I heard the waitress and the rest of the staff discussing where they were going to party prior. Need I say more.

Friendly service. Food came out quickly. Mostly fried seafood. I got Cajun honey grilled salmon and it was okay. No complaints but I have had better.

A work friend suggested this place as it was not far from the hotel we are staying in. Initial impression was just average. Nothing in particular that stood out to me. Or was not as busy as I expected at 6pm. After reading multiple reviews about bad service I have to say our waitress was great! She was at our table checking on us many times. I ordered the crab legs. They were big and taste good. My one complaint would be the butter needed some flavor added. I felt they could have easily put a twist to that and had it stand out. It was pricey. I had an entrée and a tea and it was almost $ 30. The hush puppies are what we call fried donuts in Texas haha they were great don’t get me wrong but I was a little shocked to have a sweet hush puppy at a seafood joint. We all had a great time, everyone liked their food and others said the beer was cold. If you find yourself in Goose Creek South Carolina give it a try.

I have been to the Moncks Corner several times, I stay in Goose Creek so I said lets try the one in Goose Creek? That was a bad mistake! First clue we were the only ones in the place and it was 5pm? Second clue it was freezing in there. Third clue the food was COLD also??? the cream for the coffee was bad? Fourth clue the service was very slow there was NOBODY in the RESTAURANT. Fifth clue the manager was not very helpful. SO looks like I will not be going bad to this Gilligan’s.

You will be looking to pay $ 10 for lunch and $ 17 for a dinner entrée. The inside is a bit tacky but everything feels clean. They bring out hush puppies when you get there and man are they good. They have a bucket in the middle of the table for shells to be thrown in. Personally i dont like the bucket. I ordered flounder with fried okra and a side salad. The side salad is like you get anywhere. The okra was cooked very well and delicious. The flounder was well cookedand tasty as well. The reason for the loss of a star is the tacky inside, i dont like the bucket in the middle of the table and the service was slow.

Passed by this place years and decided to try it. Décor could use some updates. Staff is friendly enough. Had the southern turf appetizer with 3 large fried pickles on top of cheesy grits, topped with blackened shrimp and sprinkling of white seafood sauce. It was delicious and the grits were a great melt in your mouth texture. I think I would have preferred fried green tomatoes over vs. fried pickles for this dish. .loved the hushpuppies. I’m not a big seafood fan, but looks like there are ample options for seafood and non-seafood selections. Prices are average for seafood which just isn’t cheap… if you want cheap seafood go to Captain D’s.

It’s ok. The food was nothing special but the service was friendly and fast. Crab legs were a little over cooked, so the meat was tough to get out.

Run, run, run! This place is so nasty and disgusting. Smells bad when you walk in the door… like pee and other stuff. Shrimp and grits for brunch and well… overcooked shrimp that weren’t peeled, brown gravy from a pack and cheese grits from a box too… Blood Mary was ok though so I’ll give em one star for that. Server was obviously tired and didn’t want to be at work because HE had some babysitting the night before… TMI! Oh well… pray for me that I don’t die from food poisoning.

The décor is dated. The food was expensive and the quality was poor. Do yourself a favor and find another restaurant.

Ate at this location once. The flavor quality was very very poor. I’ve said it before food is a big part of my life and I believe in giving a second chance to most restaurants we all have up and down days. But the combination of flavors the way it was served on my wife’s and my meals was so poor that I want be back. I have eaten at other locations and had a very different experience by the way they were very different meals not close to the same type so they had no reason to be this poor of quality.

So, we tried this place out last night for my birthday. First off we arrived during a shift change(or so the girl kept saying who was acting to busy to help. She was still there an hour later) We ordered the all you can eat oysters(clusters) no flavor no sauce no lemon, nothing. I ate two. They had mud all over them and it was green and grey. I ordered the«Classy steak and cake» crab cake and steak. The portions were tiny. The crab cake was so fishy I ate only one bite. The grilled asparagus was great, the steak was a mere 5 bites. I gave this place two stars because the banana split drink was good. I got a piece of salted caramel cheese cake with a candle that was fabulous. The service for the whole place seemed really bad. Girls chatting at the front desk and people standing around talking about everyone. !!!BUTHEREISTHEWORSTPARTFORME!!! DON’T ORDERGINGERALE !!! HERE’S WHY It’s not always ginger ale. The only had a 2lt left so I heard someone ask the server do you know how to make a ginger ale? Because(they didn’t want to run out) They told the young server(two makeshift bartenders and two servers) that you fill the glass with a little coke and 80% sprite. Then after they gave the person a real ginger ale, they gave them only the fake one on refills. I sure hope that lady wasn’t a diabetic. Because coke is not caffeine free!!! They didn’t even tell the guest like«Hey sorry we don’t have ginger ale to give to non bar service guest!» They just gave them a mixed soda drink and called it ginger ale. I didn’t eat most of my food so I ordered a burger to go, it was the blu burger it was extremely dry and I ordered a lettuce wedge to go with it, no blue cheese no dressing. Seeing as how they made me wait an hour for the burger(he said they burned the first one) I feel like nothing should have been missing. And getting home with just two cherry tomatoes a pinch of bacon and a quarter head of lettuce made the whole night a bust.

I’m a Texan born and raised but these were the best hush puppies ever. The shrimp and grits couldn’t be beat anywhere close to home. We’re looking forward to our trip Feb ’14 for more!

That was theeeeee worst food I’d ever had at a restaurant! I literally have a bad taste in my mouth. I have never had food this bad, EVER! I went by the reviews on Unilocal and decided to check this place out. I should have asked a local! The food was awful. I mean it was tasteless and bland. How can you mess up broccoli!!! It looked like they dropped it on the floor, swept it up with a broom and put it on my plate! And the waitress was snotty ta boot!
