I stop at The Ranch House every time we are traveling through. I have always had a great meal(as everyone else with me has experienced also) and wonderful service. Nice variety of meals, breakfast all day, free drink refills, and I suggest a piece of the homemade candy that’s at the register on your way out. *never had a bad meal *anyone with me has never had a bad meal *never had bad service Nuff said.

Unexpectedly nice place to eat… look strange outside but very pleasant inside. Good polite staff, tasty meals(a little bit expensive), small shop. A good option to stop before LA.

On Sunday, May 22nd, I stopped by the Ranch House Restaurant with friends, while traveling South on I-5. I’ve eaten here before while traveling and haven’t previously experienced any problems whatsoever. However this time was different… As I entered, my friends and I were seated by the waitress, however she returned a moment later with the manager. He inquired about my service dog and asked for a «coin or a card.» I informed him that no coin or card is required according to the ADA and California state law. He insisted that without a coin or a card, they would not be able to serve me. My friend, who frequently works in the courts also informed the manager that he was incorrect and that the only two questions a business may ask is: «Is this a service animal?» and«What service is the animal trained to perform?» My friend showed him both the Federal & State code, however he continued to insist that the Health Department would not allow him to serve patrons with dogs unless they had a coin or card. After I went outside, I called the police. They stopped by and entered the restaurant with me and asked to speak with the manager. The previous manager we spoke with had apparently just gotten off-duty and we spoke with a different manager. The officer read the entire section of the California Penal Code to the manager regarding service animals and emphasized that no card, coin, or any certification was required. He also told the manager that if I wished to press charges, the manager could be arrested and charged with a misdemeanor with a $ 2500 fine and/or 6 months in jail. He also stated that they could be sued in Civil Court for discrimination and violating my civil rights. The manager apologized for the other manager’s decision and said he would speak with him about this serious matter. In the meantime, I was inconvenienced, embarrassed, detained for approximately four hours and had to find lunch elsewhere. My only reason for pursuing this was to make sure that this facility didn’t continue this practice and discriminate against others with disabilities.

We stopped at the Mexican restaurant next door but the waitress wouldn’t get off her cellphone. So we walked out and went next door. Best choice we made. The food was excellent! The service was very good but it took awhile to make, but well worth it. Everything was cooked the way we ordered it and the biscuits and gravy was great.

Empty when we arrived about 8:30 on a Monday morning, but a few others arrived while we were there. Once our breakfast came I was really surprised that more people weren’t having breakfast or at least coffee here. It was good food and decent service along with reasonable prices, especially for an out of the way place like this. The menu is extensive. You could pretty much get anything you wanted. Not fancy, but a good meal.

This is an awesome roadside diner. Basically it is an authentic small town restaurant that is open 24 hours and serves every type of food all day. Our server was Amanda and she was great, joking around with my kids and even brought a spoon for my baby to play with, without us asking for anything. We had breakfast for dinner, with my daughters having French Toast and Pancakes respectively. They even made a bear shape out of the pancakes. Standard food and it was good and cheap. I was expecting a run down place with no real character and so was pleasantly surprised.

Service is pretty horrible. I’ve been here 4 times and 1 out of those 4 times did the sever actually check up on me. Not to mention that it was hardly busy at the time. The food is either good or horrible. The corn is TERRIBLE. My in-the-can corn tastes better than the corn there. I asked for my steak to be medium, and it comes back looking like the chef plopped it on the skillet for 20 seconds each side. When I told the waitress that the steak was indeed rare instead of medium, she replied, «That is medium.» Well what’s rare then? The cow itself? Though I do give props because when she brought it back actually cooked, she gave me a refill on my fries which I guess is okay. The chicken there is charbroiled to hell and back. The overwhelming taste of charcoal makes the meal very unappetizing. Definitely NOT better than Denny’s.

Nice place to stop because when you tell them you want soft scrambled eggs, that’s what you get.

This was a pleasant find off the highway, just a peaceful little restaurant seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Lots of cowboy/rancher ambiance although when we were there it was about 2PM and it was quite dead. Therefore, service was excellent. If there were a Denny’s right next door, you’d want to go here instead.

Service was great but the food was just OK. The mash patatoes was both over cooked and watery. They must of added more MP to an existing pot that should of been thrown out. All that been said… Still better then Denny’s.

So we’re driving north to hang with the mom-in-law and hunger sets in. It’ll be past 8pm by the time we arrive so let’s stop at the top of the grapevine and try this little joint on the side of the road. I had a salad, he had breakfast. Decent food, filled our tummies. But the hit of the dining experience, the best part of the dinner was, get this, a case FULL of homemade goodies the likes of turtles, English toffee and rocky road. Turtles packed with so many pecans, they’re falling off. The chocolate was delectable, one of the best turtles I’ve had in a very long time. The English toffee was divine. One bite and it was buttery toffee goodness… not the brick of sugar you’re used to. And the rocky road… the pillow-y yummy marshmallows doused in rich chocolate with almonds was absolutely heavenly. We will stop by on our return. These treats were memorable and must be experienced again. YUMMY!

Do not go here– keeping driving — coming from LA there is a Denny’s the next exit– or more a couple exits up. If you want to enter the twilight zone, then disregard my advice and stop there, but imo It seems like there is something in the water in Gorman. Slow would be an understatement for the painful experience I just went through. Add a very hungry three year old in the mix and it was equivalent to torture. Yes it seems like every senior citizen for a 20 mile radius stops there, maybe they to partake of the local water. 1– While being seated the host said a large party had arrived, try to order quickly. We made out breakfast decisions quickly, and 50 minutes later we were still waiting — don’t forget the hungry three year old. 1.5. The coffee creamer looked like flegm. They finally brought out a side of biscuits and gravy, which were not home made, but that’s ok. It defiantly didn’t appear to take 50 minutes to slave over our food. We asked how much longer, the waitress said 5 – 10 minutes while we serve the other party. 3-HELLO CuSTOMER SERVICE– who serves a 50 top before a party of 4 when they order before them!!! 4– we decided to leave, the cashier keeps asking are you sure you don’t want to wait for your food? No lady just let us pay for the drinks and the side. Thanks for wasting over an hour of my time, you really just screwed up my drive back north.

Service staff was nice but not very good(as in not very present) which was disappointing given that he diner is pretty much empty. Food was on par with Denny’s except Denny’s doesn’t serve you half frozen strawberries. I ordered the strawberry waffle. Waffle was sub par and the strawberries were half frozen. Thought this would be better than Denny’s or McDonalds but i wouldn’t stop here again…

Love this place. Perfect stop to fuel after passing through nasty LA traffic. Classic American food, friendly folks, pretty mountain view. This place has become family’s tradition’s stop on our way north.

For the past few years, each and every northern bound adventure I begin, I pass this place and think, «I should stop here, based one hundred percent upon the signage, it does looks good!» But each and every adventure, I press on, and stop at the truck stop in Lebec. It was Superbowl Sunday afternoon, and I had been traveling south along the five freeway for several hundred miles, and several hours. The big game was nearly over, and I hadn’t seen a moment of it. I was weary behind the wheel, and decided to finally try this place out. I pulled off the freeway, stretched, and Mom and I walked around the place towards the front door. It didn’t look open, it honestly looked like it had been deserted for some time. We tugged on the door, and were surprised when it opened. We walked in, past the small gift shop they had set up, and finally into the dining room. The bar was straight ahead of us, and I saw the big game was on. The bar was the only room with people in it, and there weren’t that many in there at that. After a lil bit, somebody saw us, and came out to sit us at a booth. Beverage requests were requested, and menus were handed to us. My patriots shirt was an instant conversation starter with the guy who sat us. The patriots were doing well so far. Excellent. As I looked though the menu, I noticed that each of the tables there were those peg intelligence tester games. After deciding upon my dinner, I began testing my intelligence. So apparently, according to the makers of those peg intelligence tester games, I’m a complete and utter retard. After several attempts of not proving my vast and great intelligence, I gave up when a salad arrived before me. The burger I had chosen was a tad smaller than the other burgers, but came with a salad as compensation for less meat. I think it was the ‘healthy’ burger or something to that effect. The salad was good. After the salad course, the burger arrived, and after some assembly, I instantly dug into it. Then I realized I forgot the Unilocal photo. Whoops! After a quick photograph, I went back to the burger. The burger was decent. Not stellar, but certainly a solid ok. Mom and I ate, with several updates on the game brought to us by the host who had sat us earlier. Yay. Patriots. After we had finished, we took care of the bill, and even bought one of those intelligence testers to send home to my nephew and brother back east. So the people are nice, the food is okay, and this place is a quiet little respite to stop on your way home from wherever you’re coming from further up north. There’s not much else in the area. But it’s a solid ok restaurant to stop at.
