Nice folks, Great service! My family and I were stranded after our car overheated and needed 2 days to be repaired. We called many car rental places but none were willing to come to our location to pick us up. Luckily Rent a Wreck did pick us up and got us back on the road. A couple of days later we returned the car. Shortly after we returned the car we got a call from Albert at Rent a Wreck who informed us that our I pad was left in the car. We were already over an hour away and could not return to get it. A couple of days later UPS delivered our i-​pad to us. Thank you Albert at Rent a Wreck for your help. Definitely recommend them.

We have rented cars from Rent-​a-​Wreck multiple times for long trips. We have always had great customer service! The cars are always reliable and we have never had a problem. The rental process is always easy and quick. I would recommend this place to anyone in need of a rental car!

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had renting a car.
Our car broke down and needed a week in the shop and this was the only local car rental agency. initially I felt fortunate that there was a rental agency close to me, but I now believe I’d have been better served to take a bus or train ride to Bakersfield or Valencia rather then choose the Gorman Rent A Wreck.
We decided to «treat ourselves» and rent a Mini Cooper, rather then the other non-​descript cars available. That was our first problem. The rental clerk clearly did not want to rent us the Mini Cooper claiming that the road we lived on was too bumpy and rugged. Well, we live in Frazier Park, 80% of the roads here are dirt roads once you get into the neighborhoods but she claimed our road was worse then others. (not true)
I told her we would park the car on the street and walk to our house if that made her feel better, she then reluctantly rented us the vehicle.
Second problem was of our own making, I don’t know what telephone numbers my husband gave her but they were not correct AND we neglected to call her and tell her we were keeping the car an additional day. This sin apparently caused the people at Gorman Rent A Wreck to completely lose all composure.
They must have seen us pass by their shop because shortly after entering the freeway a car comes up behind us with two men in it honking and gesturing. My husband thought they were trying to alert us that something was wrong with the car and that we were unsafe. We pulled off the free way and a man LEAPS from his car and comes RUNNING over to us and yells at my husband to «GET OUT OF THE CAR!» repeatedly.
We are ALL lucky that it was not just me driving because I would never have pulled over for two men I’ve never seen before in an unmarked car, they would have had to follow me honking to the nearest police station had I been alone.
So we exit the vehicle and are hustled into another car and driven to the Rent A Wreck store. Once there, the man that drove us there said to us «You two stay in the car until I find out what they want to do with you» as if he were an officer and had the right to demand this of us.
We ignored him and went in the office and found out that our failure to communicate with them apparently made them think we were stealing the car.
IMO an outrageous overreaction to an oversight that I have made in the past with other rental agencies that have never treated me like this before.
I’ve rented cars, was completely unreachable, brought them back a day late and not once have I ever been accosted and yanked out of the rental vehicle. I just came in, paid the extra fee and went on about my day.
We closed out the Mini Cooper rental but unfortunately our car in the shop was still not ready so we had to get another rental from them that day or we would have been stranded.
To their credit they gave us 2 days free on that rental possibly because when things had calmed down they realized how shabbily they had treated customers that had just spent $ 486 renting from them.
But that’s the only credit I give them and that is their 1 star on this review.
We just returned the rental today. (our broken car is still not ready so we borrowed an old truck from some family members to get around)
If our car breaks down again, we will take that bus ride to Bakersfield to find a rental agency that values their customers and does not treat them like criminals, pull them over by the side of the road, and attempt to illegally detain them.

I needed a car after mine broke down on the Grapevine They had a minivan, which was exactly what I needed to continue on my vacation with my family. I called them from the repair shop, and they had the vehicle waiting when I arrived. Good service, exactly what I needed.

After my car broke down on the Grapevine while on my way to my family’s for Thanksgiving, I was lucky enough to find Rent-​A-​Wreck. They offer a great selection of newer vehicles that met my needs perfectly for a great price! The staff was friendly and very helpful, this was especially nice being that I was so frustrated with my car breaking down in «the middle of nowhere». I was in and out quickly and the rental car was exactly what I would expect from any high end rental car agency. Thank you Rent-​A-​Wreck in Gorman for helping me get on my way and enjoy my holiday weekend.
