So I add to the many other five star reviews! Dropped in from our hotel w/o reservations and caught local graduation night. The greeter suggested we go down to the bar and we found seating right away. Our bartender was so friendly and accommodating. My wife had the crispy scallops and I started with onion soup and had chicken/sausage and broccoli rabe with Mozz, and yes the portions are gigantic! Both dishes were good, but frankly mine had too many things going on. Never the less we can’t wait to go back. The bar area is cozy and well appointed. Be prepared to spend $ 100.00 or with tip for two entrées and 2 drinks.

Just had the worst experience on pub burger deal at Catherine’s. Bar sign said $ 11 for burger and draft beer and $ 7 for burger. We got one of each. Burgers weren’t bad after waiting a very long time but the service was horrendous. Not to mention that we were overcharged for 2 specials with beer and only had one of each. So disgusted will never go back!!!

The restaurant offers the tastiest food in the Hudson Valley with a great service staff to make for a wonderful dining experience. I have found the food & service to be consistently excellent over the many years I have visited this restaurant. Cold food served cold & hot food served hot as it should be. The menu offers a diverse selection of appetizers, entrées & desserts. Servers Nancy, Kathy & Tracy are most accommodating & will go out of their way for their guests making for a most enjoyable and fabulous dining experience.

This place is a must visit! Huge portions, a chef that clearly is a cut above the the rest, a very nice atmosphere and a waitress that could not have been more welcoming and friendly! Killer meal. Left stuffed. Will be back again for sure!

Good quality is really great as is attention to detail. Portions are huge. Consider sharing. Ambiance is a little lacking and it’s loud but satisfied locals don’t seem to mind. Mussels were very tasty!

Huge portions and you’ll never have a bad meal here. I’ve been here dozens of times and the food, service, and specials are always top notch. They also have burger night every Wednesday where you get a prime ½ lb burger with cheddar fries, and a pint of beer for $ 11.00. My wife and I get that probably twice a month, it’s a cheap night out and the food is still excellent. Some of my favorites: Apps — Coconut shrimp, Goat cheese and garlic on pesto bruschetta, crab-meat, jalapeño, and avocado bruschetta entrée — Buffalo macaroni and cheese, Crispy chicken, red pepper risotto, NY strip Dessert — crème brûlée always Pub — Burger, filet mignon cheese steak sandwich Beer — Stella, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

Steve never disappoints! Every dish is special. We had arancini as app. They rival SINATRA’S in Buffalo NY! I had pork chops with pepper and onions over unbelievable mashed potatoes! So good

The waitress forgot my wine and did not remember until my wife asked for it. By then it was the end of them meal. Usually reflect bad service in my review, but the food here is amazing! By far the best restaurant in the area and one of the best we have ever eaten at. We ate in the upstairs restaurant. We are very picky when it comes to food, and this restaurant passed.

I really really wanted to give this place a high rating. The food was great. Service was outstanding, but then my wife finds a 6″ long hair in her risotto. Ugh, so unfortunate because other than that it was a very nice experience but hair is just unsanitary.

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic date night at Catherines tonight. It was really busy and the waitress warned us that it might take a little while for the food to come out. It did take a while but it didnt matter at all because the food was SOGOOD. I got chicken parm(it was a really tough decision to make but I was really craving chicken parm) and my boyfriend got the short ribs. Seriously the best short ribs either of us have ever had. I really like how they have a big dessert menu with half portion sizes of the desserts. We were so full because the portions are family style and of course we overate but we split a half portion chocolate lava cake(called the heart throb) and it was great. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family. 5 stars. Also the staff was fantastic. We will be back!

Picked this gem for dinner while my lady and I were in town planning our wedding over the weekend. We called ahead and made reservations and I’m glad we did because the place was packed! A good sign already… We arrived and were greeted and seated immediately. We were only a two-top, so our table was ready, but other larger parties were on a bit of a wait. The décor and vibe were warm, friendly, and inviting. Our server came over and she was very nice and friendly and we chatted a bit about our wedding. She told us she had her son’s rehearsal dinner in the restaurant and we’re now considering doing the same! Anyway, we ordered drinks and apps while we looked over the entrees. I had a Lagunitas draft and we started with the chicken livers. Pepper bread was brought to our table and it was piping hot, fresh, and delicious. I ended up ordering the pork shank and my fiancée orders the short rib pasta dish. Chicken livers: massive, hearty, meaty, rich, and done perfectly. I’m not a huge liver fan but I will eat it from time to time and these were outstanding. We finished the whole app. Oh yeah, the portions here are RIDICULOUS. I’m not joking when I say I was stuffed after the appetizer and could have stopped there. Could have. Did not. The pork shank was gigantic. Even Willie Nelson would have been impressed by the size of this hog’s leg. It was crispy, salty, and reminiscent of the pork shanks I had in Deutschland. The mashed potatoes and sauerkraut were also on point. I tried my lady’s short rib pasta and it hit on all cylinders. Kudos to the chef, definitely one of the more talented ones I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. After a brutal defeat, we had to ask for to-go boxes. It looked like we didn’t even touch our food but I really tried! All I could muster for dessert was an espresso. Came out fast and was hot and rich. The service here was perfect. Refills, bussing, pre-drops, everything was dead on and we didn’t have to ask for anything. When we asked for to-go boxes, our food was whiskey away, boxed, and brought back quickly. Throughout this, the staff looked cool, calm and professional. You folks are on top of your game and many restaurants should come by and take notes. This was a true dining experience in a place run by professionals. I would make the trip back to Goshen just to eat here, and will consider having our rehearsal dinner here. Hell of a job! P. S. I just had more pork shank for dinner, it travels well. I’m still not finished, it might feed me for a week.

Catherine’s really is the only Goshen restaurant worth going to. I have been here too many times and have only been disappointed on the rare occasion. On those less than stellar visits, the staff has always bent over backwards to correct the issue. This may be due to the fact that my parents are on a first name basis with everyone there, but I am just going to chalk it up to good service at the end of the day. HUGE portions are the staple here; cocktails, pastas, and everything in between is served to you with enough for lunch leftovers the next day. The breads they offer are all of a high quality as well as having a good rotating specials menu. The menus(dinner upstairs vs pub & dinner downstairs) leaves something for everyone when you want to relax downstairs, and you can enjoy some ‘finer’ dining upstairs during a special occasion or what have you.

6−1−15: Did they learn how to make a Stroganoff yet, or they still go with the quantity over the quality?

Awesome find when traveling back downstate. Easy on /off from Route 17. Upstairs is a classy restaurant with a full menu; downstairs is a more casual, pub area with tables and a pub menu or the full restaurant menu from upstairs. Awesome burgers and appetizers in the pub area and some nice craft beers on tap. A nice wine menu is available as well. Servers are friendly, pleasant and attentive. Good find, give it a try — you won’t be disappointed.

Was not sure if my experience here would live up to the rave reviews from my coworkers, but WOW! Their octopus salad special was perfect. Very rarely do I get to have octopus that is cooked but isn’t rubbery. And the spices! To die for. The fried clams were only okay, but then. the filet mignon philly knocked it out of the park again. Whew! A lot of bread, so I ended up just eating the meat, but so. worth. it. The drink special, Moscow Mule, was strong and yummy. Definitely worth coming here!

A lovely home ambiance with friendly staff and delicious, locally-sourced food. I’ve been here several times and have greatly enjoyed every dish and staff conversation. An Orange County culinary gem.
