Went here for the first time for a family event, and walking in I thought I was in for a real treat but it wasn’t all that. The restaurant is beautiful, looks upscale, I like the large deck and outdoor seating too but we ate inside. We had a party of about 13 people, and were the only ones the place. But it was a good hour before we received our main course, all the food took a long time to get. I feel bad for anyone that didn’t order an app first, everyone was waiting and looking like they were starving. The bread a place like this serves you is a good indication of what’s coming. In this case, generic seeded kaiser rolls, warm with butter. Bleh. I started with the French onion soup, and I will say it’s one of the better ones I’ve had, and today it was the best part of the meal, which is sad. I also had the mixed salad with balsamic dressing So I see paella on the menu, and I love paella immensely. There’s is not traditional, it’s more saucy, not the spicy traditional Spanish ones I’ve had. Lobster was on the drier side, clams were juicy, mussels were small and pathetic. They dress the mussels and clams around a bed of paella, and the lobster on top; I doubt they cook it all together. Chorizo not what I expected, it was okay. Would not eat again. I dabbled in my families food too when mine didn’t cut it. The pasta in the Lobster Mac and cheese was overcooked, the cheese sauce was nothing special, and there wasn’t a whole lot of lobster. 4 servers for our table, but disorganized, they didn’t know who got what and just asked, specials were read off paper. just sad for a place like this. I would not go here again for the good or service, even though the place is beautiful, and the kind of place you want to go to do a special occasion.

We went there last night for Cinco de Mayo celebration. The place was crowded and that’s what we expected. After we ate the dinner we went for drinks. I had few Long Island Ice Teas and few Coronas and and I was pretty buzzed. What I didn’t like though… was one of the female bartenders. I don’t know her name but she was working the bar last night. I may be drunk but I can count. And after she noticed I was drunk she started raising the drink prices on me. First she was charging me $ 8 per drink and after she noticed I head enough in my head she started charging me $ 10 for the same drink. I caught that and told her that. I didn’t want to bother the owner that night but told the lady what I think. She apologized and returned the money. I will also check my debit card I was paying with and will do a charge back if I notice any overcharges. My rating for this place: the 1st star was for the food and the 2nd star I gave them above is for the décor… I don’t think we be back any time soon!

What can I say about Palacios? A simply drop-dead gorgeous building. Hand-laid stones, marble floors, crystal chandeliers, dramatic window treatments, gold trim décor. It truly looks like a Palace. And when you walk into a palace, you want to be treated like royalty. Well, I can say that we got the«royal» treatment, but not in a good way. This past Easter Sunday, my husband and I took my mom out for Easter brunch at Palacios — the catering side of Valeria’s restaurant. For starters, Valeria’s is no more. The owners have shut down Valeria’s restaurant and moved their more successful eatery, the Hacienda Mexican restaurant from down the street in what was Valeria’s. I’m not sure what the food was like at the old Hacienda’s, but if it was anything like what was served on the catering side, I can honestly say that they have a lost a customer. We did this brunch last year on Easter and it was so much better. Which is why we came back. Last year, they had a carving station, an omelette station and a wonderful assortment of breakfast and lunch foods that were nicely prepared as well as a nice selection of desserts. This year’s brunch was hardly a shadow of what they did last year. Most of the foods were store bought and prepared by amateurs. There was no carving or omelette stations. The buffet had a limited selection of items that was poorly prepared. The scrambled eggs — if they were made with real eggs — were gray, rubbery and inedible. My husband said the powdered eggs he got in the army were better. Instead of pancakes, waffles or french toast, they just put out a tray of what they called«french toast sticks» which were soggy. My mother was convinced that the danishes and muffins came out of an Entemanns box! On the hot food side, the roast beef(which was a really a chuck roast) was overcooked, dry and tasteless and soaked in some kind of brown gravy. The desserts they offered were tiny, bite-sized petit fors and mini-tarts and there was just not enough of them. A server came out with a fresh tray of items to put on the display but she never made it there before she was mobbed by the people waiting for the desserts to arrive. The table service was OK. Our waitress served only coffee and tea. We had to get our own juice from the bar area. For this, we were charged $ 25.00 per person plus an 18% gratuity — which our waitress conveniently hand-wrote on our check — just in case we weren’t sure how much to leave. Tough for her because I usually leave about 20% tip anyway, but not this time. Honestly, it was just not good and if this is the quality of effort they will put forth for a brunch that is open to the public, I can’t imagine ever using them for a private party, let alone a wedding. This is sad because they put so much effort into building this glorious place. The food should match it’s looks, but it just doesn’t. Unless something changes, I don’t see us returning here in the near future. I’m disappointed because I was rooting for them to succeed.

This was my second time eating at this restaurant and after eating dinner there last night, I will not return. A waitress, not the one who served us, was extremely rude and obnoxious. She came over to our table and asked us why we switched tables and I stated that I preferred a corner table(keep in mind that it was Friday evening and there was only one other couple in the restaurant and the party of 6 she said the table was for never existed, that in itself should speak volumes). The woman proceeded to complain to her manager and to another member of our wait staff. Needless to say this is NOT the way to treat patrons. When our waitress came over, she was very nice, but just started this past week, so I give her credit for dealing with a bully colleague. Anyway, the food, very different from my first experience and I now know why this place has such mixed reviews. I ordered the chicken marsala with mushrooms. What a nightmare because it is pretty hard to mess up chicken, but the cook managed to do it! It appeared cooked, but tasted raw. It was hard and it couldn’t be cut. It tasted very veiny and was afraid that I would get food poisoning so I didn’t eat it. It was terrible. Overpriced and felt rushed. The busgirl was rude and tried to hurry us out of the table. Such a shame for beautiful looking establishment. I will not return and I will share this experience with those I know in the area. I give this place less than a year before it goes under. There is no way they can afford to maintain and upkeep it with the lack of business and poor food and service. Too bad! Save your money and go into the heart of Goshen for a fine dining experience. Many quality restaurants with great food and service. Skip Valeria if you get a chance and save your money before it leaves you with not only a poor taste in your mouth but a feeling like you’ve just been abused as you walk out of the restaurant! Sorry Valeria, you lost a patron that could have given you a ton of business, but instead, I will be spreading the word to avoid giving you the business. Maybe you should read your reviews!

Recently paid our 4th visit to Valeria’s, this time for a birthday celebration. As in the past, food was very good(with exception of the disappointingly small Oysters in the appetizer). Service was, as usual, slow — bread showed up 5 minutes after being seated, server after 10, drinks took almost another 10 minutes to arrive. Major complaint was with the bar(this time) I ordered a Manhattan on the rocks($ 11.95 — house liquor). Server arrived with shaker and glass as for up. Corrected her and she returned with drink in rocks glass with the consistency of a «slushy». Apparently bartender just emptied the shaker over more ice. Had it replaced as «too weak», new one was equally weak as they use some sort of «pitted» ice clumps rather than clear cubes. Spouse’s dry Martini up($ 9.95 — Absolute) was heavy on vermouth, and second round shaker did not fill the glass(remade without asking), the replacement arrived already in a glass and seemed weak. House wine by the glass($ 8) seemed to be a 4 oz. pour rather than the traditional 6 oz. Drinks are nowhere near the quality the prices would suggest. Also from ordering to drink arrival was 10 to 15 minutes. Coupled with the lag between clearing one course and delivering the next(15+ minutes), there were long gaps with no food or drink on the table. At one point, the manager asked if we needed anything(like food?) With the house less than ½ full, and lot’s of staff on hand, there seemed to be a problem«keeping up». They have the food part knocked, now, if Valeria can restore the bar to it’s previous«standards», and make its wait staff more efficient, this could be a 5 star establishment. Added: In looking at some of the other ratings, I should point out that, at the next table, there was a Mom and 3 boys(early teens). Boys wearing baggy cargo shorts, tank tops, and untied sneakers. Other diners wore everything from jeans and short shorts to jackets and dresses. There is no dress code, and given the décor, this could cost them an extra star from those that care.

The place itself is gorgeous. The staff are very friendly and nice. The main courses was not great. I would expect a steak house to knock my socks off with a steak, sadly that did not happen. My fillet mignon was medium but BONE dry. Wife’s chicken was good but mushrooms were huge chunks. We waited about 60 mins between our salads and main course due to two big orders. Sorry, no excuse. The lobster bisque was excellent. My wife’s French onion soup was very good. Salads were good although skimpy on dressing. Probably won’t be back. Other places have better food for same price.

On Saturday February 15 my wife and another couple went to Valeria’s for dinner, this was our 2 nd visit. The first visit was great, wish I could say that about our second visit. Lets start the décor of the restaurant is extremely nice. Our service started off good but quickly went down hill. Had to ask numerous times for the bus girl to refill our water glasses. The waitress came to take the order. We were told the steaks were exception good. I ordered the Chicago Rib Eye bone in, I ordered the the steak«black and blue«with no seasons or sauce. I did ask the waitress to make sure the chef knew and could cook a black and blue steak. If he could not to let me know and I would order something else. Waitress said all would be fine. The rib eye was served to medium rare, and yes I sent it back. And so they cooked me another rib eye, a manager brought me the steak that was extremely raw and the outside was just browned looked like it was pas seared Later to find out that another manager cooked the rib eye with a blow torch. What a waste of beef. To say not one of the 2 managers or even the owner who stopped by the table behind ours ever came over to apologize or ask if I would like something else. Hard to believe when restaurants are in such need of customers to return and to praise them, instead the management let us leave unhappy to write this review Valeria’s was an experience I will not return to..

I ate here recently with a large group of business associates. The food was very good. The steaks are not dry aged, which surprised me, but they were delicious and well marbled none the less. The décor was very nice, I would prefer a little darker and clubbier for a steakhouse, but that’s just me. The waitress did an excellent job of handing a boisterous group of guys. The prices are very high for Goshen, but about on a par or a little less with steakhouses generally.

LOVE this place! The food was incredible. To start we had onion soup and the jumbo scallops wrapped in bacon. For our entrees we had the Sea bass and the Chicago Ribeye. They have a very affordable and reasonably priced wine list. The venue itself is beautiful. Great for date night or out with the family. Highly recommend this place!

I feel I am doing everyone a favor by warning you ahead of time that the food here is not good and most of my family members got sick after eating here. We returned 2 of our stuffed chicken dinners because they just didn’t taste right. It was replaced by our second choice the petite filet mignon … the meat was ok, but not the quality you would expect from a steakhouse. The sauce on the side tasted like it came out of jar, not prepared by a chef. The mashed potatoes we received with each meal were cold. Sorry, but there is no excuse for anything I mentioned above. I must say it’s one of the fanciest looking restaurants in the area and no expense was spared. The waiters are dressed very formally and were knowledgable. I would not spend the time or money on this restaurant, save your money.

My wife and I have been waiting — looking forward to dining here for months… reading several reviews that were favorable we decided that we’d finally make a plan to go on our anniversary — even though we could not find a web site or online menu — there was the red flag we missed! The place is really nice inside — made reservations which we didn’t need — we were greeted by who we thought was the hostess but didn’t know where we were to be seated — another girl came to the hostess station and walked us to a table — then we were greeted by our server — I ordered a imported bottled beer — 10 minutes later the server returned to let me know that the beer shipment had just come in today and someone was going«down stairs» to get the beer, she apologized for the wait. After another 10 minutes went by, the server returned to inform me that they didn’t have the beer in a bottle but they had it on tap($ 6 a pint), she apologized for the wait — 25 minutes at the table — she brings the pint of beer. In the meanwhile we had received 2 small pastry puff shells of bruschetta that were to be about the only fresh tasting morsel that would be served — we asked the server if we could order the stuffed portabella mushroom without the sausage in the stuffing, as my wife is a vegetarian — the server said no — the mushrooms come pre-stuffed — so, frozen appetizers at approximately $ 9 — I opted for the bacon wrapped scallops — approximately $ 9 for was also a frozen appetizer — quarter sized — tasted like frozen appetizer — not good at all — then we ordered our entrée — we asked about the choices for vegetarians — as it states on the menu — ask — there were three choices — 2 of the 3 dishes were pasta based but the third was a vegetable shepards pie — my wife went with the shepards pie — I ordered the NY Strip steak at $ 28 — 5 minutes later our server came back saying the chef said the shepards pie doesn’t look so good, so he’s not serving it tonight? I don’t even know what that means? She apologized. So, the server asked what else she’d like stating that they can make anything else that she would want — she ended up ordering the pasta primavera, which the server described to be made with grilled vegetables — garlic & oil — the house salad that comes with the entrée was wilted & only available with the«house» dressing, which I still don’t know what it was suppose to be — our dinners came — my wife’s pasta primavera($ 18) was not with grilled vegetables — vegetables yes, oil & garlic — for that price point at least take the time to grill some vegetables. The NY Strip steak that was served by another server — asked if there was anything that we needed i.e. butter — salt — pepper — sour cream for the baked potato — I said yes to all the above and for some worcestershire sauce that he brought right back — when he returned — I asked him if they had a steak knife — he apologized and said«no» and I was the second person to ask for one tonight — really, at least 5 steak dishes on the menu and not a steak knife in sight? Our original server returned and wanted to know how the food was, I told her we’d let her know as we didn’t start eating yet, then she asked if the steak was done correctly, once again — I told her I’d let her know when I try it. The menu states that the steaks are aged 21 days — maybe in the freezer, but not in reality — the steak was like cutting a shoe — didn’t finish — my jaw was getting sore from chewing? While my wife and I were smiling through our disappointment, we noticed that the hostess was at the table across from us asking the people how their food was? We heard her say, «are you sure everything was good?» We were waiting for her to come to our table — never did — we got the check and brought the bill to the hostess station — to let her know how disappointed we were with the food — she was gone and another gentleman was there, I explained how we were very disappointed and told him the reasoning behind & why — he apologized for the bad dining experience and offered to by us a drink, I said«No Thanks» we won’t be back. This is a huge disappointment — Valerias is a nicely decorated venue, you can see there was a lot of money spent to furnish the restaurant in such a manor — the wait staff is all dressed in uniformed fashion for each of their respective positions, but when the servers & hostess can only offer apologizes, the point is not being heard — Valerias needs to offer fresh made quality food — a steak entrée that averages $ 30 of hard earned money is just wrong, the food should be the priority and it’s Not, it’s just an after thought — too bad, Save your money, save your evening…

Finally a restaurant that doesn’t believe all fine food is Italian. A good blend of assorted cuisine’s. The atmosphere is all class with a staff that tries it’s best to give the best service. Not that i’m against Italian cuisine, but there re other types of foods that Valeria’s recognize’s. We’ve been there weekly and never had a bad meal or experience.

I live just up the road from Valeria’s. my wife and I had waited a LONG time for this place to open up as the building was vacant for some time. We wanted to go and check it out. Tried looking on the website to see about reservations and dress code. The website had nothing for the restaurant, just the catering hall. So we called. The woman who answered was snotty to say the least. «Yes! Reservations are required! This is a fine dining restaurant and proper attire is required, no jeans! And your children need to be under control» this was said in such a manner that I doubt I will ever dine there. Mind you, my family and I enjoy going to high end 4&5 star restaurants all over NY, NYC and NJ. We know how to dress and behave, do not talk down to me for asking what your website lacks. I guess with that attitude, business must be great! Sadly I doubt you will get my money. Too bad, waited a long time. I have no idea how the food and service is or the pricing. I give it one star because their customer service oN the phone sucked!

The owner of Valeria’s at Palacio also owns the very popular La Hacienda Mexican restaurant in Goshen as well. He has done a 180 degrees with this establishment and has spend mucho dinero to open what will be a very fine addition to Goshen, NY. This restaurant is on the right track and will be a winner once all the bugs are worked out(not that many bugs however). The wait staff is very attentive, almost too attentive at times. Okay, you say«Some people are never satisfied.», but the waitress made you feel she was in a rush, but for all good intentions… to please the customer. My wife and I each had a meat entrée. I had center cut boneless NY strip that was done to perfection. Medium rare and it was perfect. My wife ordered the Petite Filet Mignon M/R with Bearnaise sauce on the side(without asking). Also right on the money. These dishes come with baked potato and house salad. The house salad was unimaginative with a bottled Shop-Rite balsamic Vinaigrette. That needs work. What’s a steak without a side of creamed spinach and that was very good. Moving to the desserts, we shared a homemade(cold) Granny Smith Apple pie with vanila ice cream. That went back to the kitchen to remove the chill. Once warmed, it was great. The cappuccino and expresso were hardy and enjoyable. The restaurant has an extensive menu from Oysters on the half-shell, lump crab cakes, Salmon, daily seafood specials, multiple meat entrees to Crème Brule and Key Lime pie. However they have the best steaks in Orange County and beyond. We’ll be back again and again. This is a destination restaurant and by the way, the prices a very fair. Couldn’t keep my eyes off of the Ice cream sundae at the table next to us.

Excellent steak and fish restaurant. Valeria’s opened 2 weeks ago and it was worth the wait. Petit filet mignonette was perfect as was the fresh halibut. Ambiance is perfect; waiters and staff have been exquisitely trained. Wine list solid but limited since they are building up their stock. Overall, $ 96 for 2 people with wine 1 appetizer, entrée and 20% tip! And that’ for filetimignon! We had 2nd dinner and had excellent salmon + wine and soup for $ 62/couple with tip. The Restaurant’s name is VALERIA’S not Valeris.
