This is our 3rd visit –we drove an hour out of our way to eat here it is that good! The specials are always amazing: prime rib, chicken cordon bleu, braised beef ravioli… The service is excellent too, the ladies are always so pleasant. Can’t wait for the next visit.

This is a cute cowboy bar/restaurant. They play country music and it has that cool rustic feel to it.(So there’s my two stars or it would’ve gotten 1.) I ordered a martini on the rocks. The bartender made it in a straight up glass instead of a rocks glass and then flung some ice in it. So I stuck with wine. Ordered the ribs and chicken dinner. I will say they give you A LOT… but it tasted Iike it was made with cheap BBQ sauce. There was no veggie other than a bowl of mashed potatoes and some strange tasting gravy. Even though I only ate the potatoes(literally could not eat the chicken because it was too hardened and the ribs were gross) — they didn’t ask why I didn’t eat anything. Isn’t that a red flag for an unhappy customer? I could’ve said something but I hate doing that. I’ll Unilocal it instead. I wouldn’t go back again even for drinks. The bar is super tiny and the restaurant is like a huge fish bowl. It’s way too loud and way too many kids there even late at night. Not for me. Check!!!

Went on a rainy Friday evening. Walk in and this place is a dive, which is totally fine with me. Except when we sat ourselves our waitress didn’t come over for over 5 minutes. Then she was pissy we only ordered water and a Coke after we had asked about the beer. The menu is nothing but meat and starch. I ordered the Mexican burger medium rare. When it comes out its charred on both sides and brown all through out. No red, no pink, nothing. Whatever it’s fine I’ll eat it. Except it wasn’t good. I got mashed potatoes on the side and the gravy was weird. It tasted like French onion soup. My boyfriend kind of liked his open faced Roast beef. Paying $ 30+ for a meal that honestly SUCKED was painful. When my boyfriend asked for a box for his meal the waitress did it for us because she thought we would spill his meal on himself? It was awkward as hell. I’m an adult I can pack my own meal thanks.

So we came here with high hopes. I read some good reviews and we gave this little dive a shot. Let me start with… I loved the dive bar atmosphere. The wait staff were attentive. I’d read about the awesome prime rib, which was why I decided to come here. The small prime rib special was not being served anymore because it was after 5:30 on a Sunday(???), but there was another surf and turf prime rib special that included snow crab legs($ 32.00). I asked our waitress and she said that was the way to go because there was a good portion of crab legs. I ordered it, asking for a med-rare cook temp on the meat. The prime rib was easily the toughest I have ever had… Seriously. It may have just been a bad piece of meat, but it was bad. When our awesome waitress came to check on us I explained the situation and she offered to take it and bring another. I accepted and thanked her. She returned to tell me that the cook said if I don’t like this one I probably wouldn’t like the next cut so I was asked to pick something else. I declined. The crab was mediocre as well. It was a bit mushy and fishy(frozen), but hey, it was all the protein I had left. My 4yo son and I ate it. On a positive side, my wife ate and enjoyed her delicious chicken. Also, the table behind us had pulled pork(I think) which looked delicious. I’m not sure if they were having an off night for beef and seafood, or if this is par for the course, but I’ll beware. And coupled with the 3 star prices, I doubt I’ll gamble here again. The waitress was awesome though. Very attentive and professional.

It’s probably been since 1992 or 1993 that I have been here but I remember LOVING it back then, the portions being huge and the food being amazing. Then again I was over 20 years younger then and what did I know, right? But to me, anything as rustic as this in a small town, with the word«saloon» in the name, well, you can’t go wrong, can you? So, last night, I bypassed my favorite place to give this a nostalgic spin. Glad I did. The atmosphere was just as I remembered, small, rustic, very small town. One of my items on the checklist for small-town, really-great food is that meatloaf would be on the menu, which it was. In fact it was on the specials menu and my wife ordered it, thankfully giving me one less choice as I had narrowed it down to 4 and now only had 3 over which to deliberate. Before I get into the menu, and before I could have gotten into it there, we had service at our table taking drink orders. It wasn’t packed but it was fairly busy for the pre-6-o’clock time and the attention we were given was my first clue that this would be a «yelper» as I call it.(I never Unilocal if it was a bad experience). How do you pick. The selection was vast, yet not overwhelming. All the food choices were covered: surf, turf, fowl, pasta, red meat, white meat, you name it — there it was. Aside from the meatloaf choice I find hard to resist, my wife having ordered it meant I would get a taste anyway. I narrowed it down to spare ribs(for which I am a sucker), the Kansas City Burger(cheese burger with barbaque pork and coleslaw piled on) and the prime rib, another favorite of mine. The only proviso was I needed a good protein meal. I opted to ask the server for assistance. Now, this is what I like about small town places — as I was asking the server and telling her what my narrowed-down choices were, a person at a neighboring table stopped her conversation to tell me «go with the prime rib, it’s the best» to which my server agreed. So I went with the prime rib, fries and a salad and«fresh bread» Can’t argue with that. She stopped her conversation to tell me! So I don’t need to tell you that the prime rib was perfect. I knew it would be. The fries were not to my exact liking, but I am an absolute fry snob, so it would not be fair for me to subject my standards into my review, though it did prevent me from hitting that fifth star. BUT, after ordering, my server asked if I would like some horseradish sauce on the side. THAT is the mark of a great place! But I think my review all comes down to the bread. I fresh-baked, hot-out-of-the-oven, mini loaf of bread with butter came out and, I don’t think I remember anything after that! It’s like I just woke up this morning writing this review or something. My point? Go there just for the bread!!! Thank you Delaneys for a walk down memory lane and thank you server and random local for steering me in the direction of a fulfilling, delicious dinner and another place on my roster to frequent. HIGHLY recommend.

It’s «The Place To Be» when in upstate New York, I haven’t been here in a while(stopped by with my other cousin before we headed to Monticello to watch his horse on simulcast in Vernon) but my cousins from Chester just invited us to their home in Chester, and the first thing I said to them was«How far is Clayton Delaney’s, I’m In!»…I remember great food, and beers, in a bar/restaurant environment. Then my cousin told me that there is Quick Draw!!! Can’t wait to visit!

Came here for lunch and loved it! The waiter was also working the bar and hanging with a friend watching the world cup but we never got the feeling we were abondoned in the dining area. He was nice. They have a good selection of beer there and I cannot wait for a chance to come back here and drink. The inside and it’s decorations are a country/rustic theme but it works.

Never knew there was an old Chester, go figure 5 years living in the area… it was nice to have another meal option close to home. The staff was polite and the food was good. Had some steak asked for medium well and it was more on the well done side but still pretty good. The fish and chips weren’t anything to write home about but fish and chips are just fish and chips. Will return for a second try before a permanent star rating. 3 stars — neutral for now.

Good comfort food. Good selection of beers on tap. Friendly service. The only negative is there always seems to be a Yankee game on the big screen.

Great place for a burger and a beer. Retro old town setting, don’t count your calories, eat drink and have a good time. Staff is great, beer is cold, food is good ans greasy. I recommend the chicken fried steak, any kinda burger or pulled pork, and the buffalo wings.

Clayton Delaney’s is the best local Chester place to get a completely unpretentious dinner and a beer. It’s not quite as much of a «saloon» as the name suggests; the bar area is pretty small, comfortably seating about 8 people with a bit of standing room behind them. It’s mostly a kid-friendly restaurant. The food is good, standard, mid-20th century American fare: Burgers, barbecue sandwiches, meatloaf, roast beef, baskets of fried shrimp and french fries, root beer served in boot-shaped glasses… you’re not going to find much, if anything, here to satisfy a food snob. To my knowledge, nothing there is organic, free range, fat free, or sweetened with stevia leaves. And thank god for that! There was a time a few years back when I ordered onion rings and they brought me frozen, pre-formed, diced onion rings from a grocery store. I just about lost my mind, I sent them back, and I trashed them in a Google review. I don’t know if times were hard or what was going on, but when you can see the onion fields from your front door, you’d better have the real thing. It only ever happened that one time; normally their rings are beer battered goodness. Maybe my bad review was enough to give somebody the hint and make sure it didn’t happen again. I only mention it now so that the current management knows I’m still watching! Bottom line: Tasty food, family-friendly atmosphere, and always a good time.

It feels like«Cheers» when you walk through the door at Clayton Delaneys… good food, simple drinks and draft beers. The staff makes this place what it is! Always remembering my name and genuinely interested in my life. I always enjoy my visits at Clayton Delaneys!

Decent local place in old Chester. They can be a little off here, but the food is usually pretty good if you know what to get. I like the chicken stuffed with broccoli, the fetticini with cajun chicken, and their burgers. Things I’d avoid would be the roast turkey(flavorless) and the BLT in particular. This place isn’t healthy to eat at, but its cheap for how much you get and tasty overall. I personally like it a lot.
