What happened, Limoncello? My family and i have come here many times in the past, though it was now a year since our last visit. Today’s experience, which was supposed to be a special occasion given that it was Mother’s Day, was appalling. Clearly the restaurant had overbooked; that was obvious from the tight, uncomfortable seating. Even though we’d made reservations, the table at which we were seated was positioned in such a way that it jutted out into the main walkway through which waiters passed carrying other tables over their heads, barely missing us on one occasion. So it was crowded. As soon as we sat down, a bus person came by to take our water order. We wanted to also give our drink order, but no go, she said, she could only ask about water. Two minutes later, another bus person came by and started filling our glasses with water. Because I’d ordered a bottled sparkling water, I told him not to fill my glass — he misunderstood, and started to take away everyone’s water. It seemed comical at the time, but actually was just a foreshadow of how disorganized and awful dinner would be. We ordered an appetizer of homemade mozzarella and a carpaccio of tomato, eggplant, basil and balsamic vinegar. After 40 minutes — during which a group of five was seated next to us, served before us, and were already on dessert — we were presented with a plate of cheese and eggplant, and olive oil. No tomato, no basil, no balsamic vinegar. I managed to get the waitress’s attention, and she was as helpful as could be, returning the plate to the kitchen and asking them to re-do it properly. In another five minutes, the plate returned with three slices of a bland, nearly colorless supermarket tomato. Still no basil or balsamic. But we’d waited such a long time and were hungry, so we reluctantly accepted it, wondering what in the world was happening in the kitchen. Finally, dinner arrived. Let me say, I’ve had the chicken limoncello here several times in the past; it used to be the restaurant’s signature dish, always quite tasty. The version of it that was served today was disgusting! The cutlet was thick and undercooked, and arrived lukewarm without any seasoning or sauce. II tasted bad, and after a few bites I stopped eating, afraid I might get food poisoning from it. Not even the ground pepper helped; and by the way while other tables had their own salt and pepper shakers, ours were missing, and both had to be asked for. The asparagus was also nearly raw, and the potatoes looked & tasted as if they’d been reheated. And mind you, we’d already waited an hour when finally served. I can honestly say that I’ve had many, many different types of dining experiences nationally and internationally, but today’s will rank among my top ten worst dinners ever. Oh, I almost forgot another comical note — after we were done with dinner, a new waiter came by and asked who’d ordered the cabernet! The wine had been ordered and thankfully served with dinner; I don’t know on what planet people have their dinner wine after the meal rather than with it. A comedy of errors, except that it resulted in some of us going hungry while still having to pay for an inedible meal. The one star in this review is due to the only positive note in this, our waitress, who actually seemed embarrassed at having to serve us this slop. She was so nice that I felt a little bad for her when I declined taking home the rest of the meal. Finally, she offered dessert… Well, guess what, of course they were out of nearly everything. The only things left were some frozen concoctions that are typically served in cafes with limited meal options. We got our check and left. Though we were happy to patronize this establishment in the past because of its food, clearly the place no longer cares enough about its customers to provide a positive dining experience in any sense of the meaning. We won’t be returning.

Went there last night for a ghost hunting event(guess I will try almost anything) and it was an all inclusive 5 course dinner before the event. The dinner came out barely warm. Coffee after dinner was served but when I asked for cream for the coffee(had to ask twice in 10 minutes) the staff brought out two little creamers for 25 people. By this time the coffee was cold. Main entrée was good but not hot … disappointing. I have frequented this restaurant before and this was not typical of my experience. This experience put Limoncello way down on my list of places I love to eat!

Disappointing for sure. Service was slow due to the fact that we’d go 20 – 25 minutes between actually seeing our server. They missed a lot of little things too. Caesar salad served without the offer of fresh cracked pepper but worse, the lettuce was brown. We asked the busboy(since we couldn’t get the attention of the server) for more balsamic glaze for the mozzarella caprese and it took two tries and 20 minutes to get that right. Dinner food wise is very very good. Piano player was too loud and you could barely hold a conversation. But really the worst past of the experience was the server who was in charge of way too many tables. My suggestion would be to add more servers and cut down on the busboys. This place could be so much better if you could actually get the attention you deserve for these prices. Crossing this one off the list as it was a one and done with that experience.

I always liked this restaurant, but in the past few years their prices have gone up and the service has been going down. Had reservation for 5:30 and our appetizer, entrée and desert took 3 hours. I understand it was parade day in GOSHEN and also Huson Valley restaurant week, but we waited so long that we were the last served. Even others who came in after us left before us. We had my very well behaved 2 year old grandaughter, maybe if she had acted up we would have gotten served faster. Service was so bad that I actually decided to mention it to the owner as we left. He basically ignored me and walked away. My husband and I will not be coming back here. There are better places in GOSHEN we can eat at and get good service and a delicious meal!

Went here last night for a combined five course meal followed by a ghost hunt/psychic interactive gathering. The only thing scary about our evening was how bad the staff handled the dinner service! We were met by the hostess and told to proceed to the bar area which as expected was very crowded. The room for dinner was not set up and the wait staff struggled to bring several tables through the confined space we were stuffed into while waiting for them to finish. They looked very confused and it seemed like too many chairs were crammed around the tables leaving very little room between unfamiliar participants. Finally after signing in we were seated and bread was sparsely served. Now the fun begins. As we had payed $ 150 per person for the event I was taken back when the food was served. We were asked to choose our selections weeks prior via email which we did, yet the hot and cold anti pasta was served family style, OK? One of the patrons questioned this and was reassured that only these dishes were being served and that the rest would be individually done. So we are all uncomfortably sharing with everyone and no serving silverware is being provided with each dish, and far too small portions are sporadically served. After several baskets of bread make there way one waiter asks does anyone want butter? Thought that was pretty standard, but since the plates with oil for dipping were provided and refilled I let this go for now. Salads are next, but the waiters have no idea what we ordered because no one has informed them everything’s been previously selected. This continued through the main course and dessert. Six to eight waiters bringing plates out at various intervals calling out timidly what they were sent out, serving some to eat sooner than those who waited for there correct dish. My wife settled for a veal dish just so I could eat the chicken which both had selected. One guest went without hers until most of us had already finished and during that time had gone to the bar and was ignored for ten minutes while the bartender chatted with her friends. I joked about how when the coffee was served, first the saucers were brought to those who were asked if they wanted coffee. Then the cups were brought and then finally the coffee was poured, then after several minutes the cream and sugar was haphazardly distributed after the coffee was cool already and throughout the whole meal tableware was either briskly cleared or ignored completely. No spoons for the coffee, had to use the soup spoon which I’d used two hours before to serve the anti pasta. Now someone comes around with what appeared to be teapots and nervously surveyed the tables without ever offering anything and then disappeared out of the room. At this point it’s midnight and dinner was advertised to have concluded at 11:00, what looks to be two of the non wait staff possibly the owners, in very nonbusiness like attire is chatting it up with the ghost hunters staff up in front of everyone as we are told finally we’re to move to another room for the second half of our evening. We decide to use the bathroom and are met with the unpleasant sight and smell of sticky, urine covered floors, an overflowing trash can of paper towels, and an empty bottle of hand soap on a puddle strewn sink counter. Absolutely disgusting and a clear sign that no one had checked in to keep up with housekeeping. Here’s where I’ll stop and give you my take on it all. Clearly a lack of communication and organization on someone led to this disaster. I’m sympathetic that no one has trained these young waiters how to manage a group environment in this establishment. No leadership stood out because the one waiter who seemed to have some sense of the dissatisfaction of the guests and with whom I had asked to get my missing entrée never returned with one. Did they not get a gratuity from the ticket purchase and because of it didn’t give a damn? Not sure, but a later altercation which I won’t go into detail about occurred and revealed that instead this sophomoric group needs to learn quite a bit about customer service and etiquette in a professional environment, one you won’t find dining here along with the ghosts. Phantastic job guys on a truly horrific experience. I will never return to this scary place!

I dont know what all the hype is about this place. You can get better Italian food at most pizzeria’s. If you go here and think it is even decent, get out more often and try other places, this place isnt that good. Way overpriced and WAAAAAY over rated! Our waiter barely spoke English, seems Spanish was more comfortable to him. Would never go back.

First table was wobbly to the point where our water would spill if you put an elbow on the table, we argued to change it, finally did. ½ hour into sitting at new table we were never asked what we wanted to drink. They finally asked and another 20 min to order. When appetizers came sauce for callamari was cold like from the fridge, at that point I had had it and I asked my husband to leave. They were not all that busy but service was terrible, they did ask if we wanted to «reheat» the appetizer which I refused. To add insult to injury the wine was watered down, and at the end we were charged for the wine and the clams my husband ate. Wrong thing to do as an owner, who we spoke to. Never again will we return after living in the area for 20+ years this is the worst.

Changing my review tonight upon 3rd chance. Chef and wait staff very knowledgable and helpful with my wife’s Celiac Disease and preparing gluten free food. Drink selection still amazing and the food is vastly improved from my first 2 times here. Highly recommended. Thanks Limoncello!

ehhhh That is about the best way to summarize Limoncello. I don’t mind a bunch of Albanian’s owning and putting out Italian food. I find it odd that every waiter tries to come off as if they are straight out of Goodfellas, when they are all as Italian as macaroni and cheese. I find it off putting that this place always manages to mess something up. The food is all decently edible, but not worth the price point you are shoveling out. Sure, I love some bread with a dipping oil and a free shot of limoncello. I do not love having to shovel out $$ when I can go down the street to Catherine’s and have better… hmmmmm…everything actually. I could see this being a good option during Spring/Summer as their outdoor seating is nice, but the interior kind of feels like your going back in time or over your grandparents house with dusty nick knickknacks all around. At the end of the day, this place doesn’t do it for me.

I really regret not giving this place a review earlier, because they deserve it! I can always count on this place being spot on. I’ve been going here for about 10 years now, and even if I haven’t visited in a year — this place is still spot on. I can always expect the best at Limoncello. Perfect for dates or a special night out with a loved one. Here are some of my favorite dishes I’ve had over the years: Stuffed mushrooms appetizer: Absolutely delicious, featuring a ricotta filling and balsamic reduction drizzle. It disappeared from the table before we knew it. Fried Calamari: Finally a place that does it right! Usually when I order this dish, the calamari is rubbery or old tasting. At Limoncello, it tasted right off the boat. Classic Chicken Parmigiana: Expertly crafted dish — the chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside with a delicious coat, and incredible juicy. The pasta is always on point here — you can not go wrong with this dish! Notes about the Bar: The bar staff is excellent. The last time I went, I asked for a «Toronto» — my favorite drink. Most places do not know how to make this, and won’t even make an attempt. At Limoncello, the bartender came out and admitted that she did not know how to make it, but verified the ingredients with me. 5 minutes later, she came out with my drink — and it hit the spot! Thank you again. Notes about the staff: The host is always very warm and welcoming — helping us with our coats, etc. The waitstaff are always very attentive. Notes about the atmosphere: I love the atmosphere here! Its perfect for a date — very romantic setting. At the same time, however — I’ve had lunch with my mother here before, and the setting worked great. The fireplace is a nice touch on chilly nights. Final notes: Excellent beer selection. I was surprised to find some of my favorite beers on the menu. Brooklyn Local 1, Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA(was shocked to see this) If you haven’t been to Limoncello yet, you are missing out big time! Highly recommended! 5 Stars.

What an experience! I went during the Great American Weekend with my boyfriend and sister. We read the menu posted outside and liked what we saw. We are seated at a table with no place settings, but I thought no big deal they’ll probably bring it later. We looked at the menu and it was completely different from the one posted outside. Outside it stated shrimp scampi for $ 18. The menu inside had no such dish listed. I order it anyway plus appetizers and the waiter suggested linguine instead of the standard angel hair. I agreed. He said my dish came with a salad. Very well. He brought our calamari and still no silverware. Ok, maybe they bring it out with our salads. Every restaurant has their own way of doing things. About half an hour later no salads and no silverware. They brought our entrees and I asked who ever served us if our salads come after the entrée? He sheepishly shrugged and asks«You don’t still want it do you?» Well I guess not since our food is here but thanks for the professionalism! And he was wearing a shirt and tie so I was very taken a back by his unapologetic tone. So we wait with our entrees with our server or any server nowhere in sight so my sister grabs silverware from the adjoining table. Another couple is seated in our section and they are read off the specials of the day which made me realize our server never mentioned the specials to us! I would appreciate the same options as everyone else, I think that’s fair. Well, the bill came and my shrimp scampi was billed for $ 26 and change. From $ 18 to $ 26?!? Is the linguine made of endangered wheat? That was the last straw. Never again!

This place is not for your typical night out. It is a fine dine cuisine with high prices and small appetizer portions but that’s all this place offers. We had a party of 5 and when I called them for Mother’s Day. They didn’t mention to me that they have a fixed menu for that day. I had to call again and ask them if they are doing anything special for Mother’s Day then they told me they have a fixed menu. I told them we have 4 vegetarians in the group if they can accommodate us with the vegetarian entrees from the main menu. They said yes which was fine. They brought us not regular bread but raisin bread, not sure why we had to ask for regular bread. Pretty much, we had to ask for everything. The main reason I went there with my family was because they had Burrata on the menu and I love Burrata. When we try to order that they said we are out of Burrata which in my opinion they should have had plenty since the menu for Mother’s Day was small and fixed. Since it is a fine dine restaurant the drinks are expensive and the food is ok. We had Penne alla vodka and Pappardelle with mushrooms and white truffle oil. They need to take it easy of the truffle oil since it is so strong for the dish. Our waiter was Chris and he wasn’t the best. We overheard him asking the table next to us about a free shot on Limoncello on the house but he didn’t offer it to us. I think the waiters pick and choose on who to give it to, which is not a good move because it sounds like they are a little discriminating. To me that’s bad customer service since we can hear you 5ft away. We spent a lot of money and my family was disappointed in the food and drinks. We will never go their again, this was our first and last experience at this place.

This place is awful. Poorly organized kitchen with average food. Service is awful(where does the wait staff hide?) and prices are very high for the food served here. The drinks are quite expensive(try $ 22 for a bottle of beer). Stay away and you will not be disappointed. Go, and you will be disappointed. We had 6 different meals and all were poorly made and small portions. Save your time and money for Catherine’s.

Limoncello is one of the finer restaurants in Goshen. It has a classy atmosphere where you would feel more comfortable with a button down shirt and slacks. It’s okay for kids, but it’s the kind of place where your kids need to learn how to be considerate of others trying to enjoy a nice night out. There is seasonal outdoor dining in the front(facing SE so the sun is not an issue) and I opt for this whenever possible. The waitstaff is semi-formal, proper, polite, smart, and attentive. The food selection is good. I have eaten here a number of times and I have always had a good experience with both presentation and taste. The fancier appetizers run small, so most of them are not for sharing. That said, if there are only two of you going, then you can make a «meal» out of a variety of appetizers — I have done that, too. Some of the fancier meals have«correct» portions, so if you are a big eater then ask for a meal that has a lot of pasta /volume. The bar area(in the back) is sized for maybe twenty people(comfortably). I have sat there a couple of times for drinks and appetizers. It is a nice place to relax. The restaurant has a nice, warm, décor and sound is dampened pretty well. There are three large rooms and the bar area. Two of the rooms are are more like a catering hall setup. One of the rooms has a fireplace(gas) and has a cozier feel. A Limoncello drink is often offered on the house at the end of the meal. I don’t know if this is standard, but I think it is offered every time we are out with friends.
