My wife an I are still on a bend for fried chicken livers. I learned from Talk( ) that Golden Chick has fried livers and gizzards. I checked locations, and while there is no Golden chick convenient to my zip, there are two on the way to Granbury. So this past Sunday we decide to check out the Golden Chick in Acton. They do have fried chicken livers, so we start with that. We also order a 10 piece fried chicken family meal, which comes with two sides and yeast rolls. I ask ask about sauce for the livers, and it’s gravy. What is it with gravy and livers? Anna’s did the same thing. Must be a Texas thing. Anyway, we are asked if we want some of the sauce usually served with the chicken tenders, so my wifes goes with honey mustard. The menu indicates the chicken is available«original or spicy», so we go spicy, but they don’t have spicy. We are offered some«spice packets» instead. For sides we go mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. We get the food and rush over to dad’s place and dig in. The livers were perfectly fine, though the gravy just does not work for me. The honey mustard was not much better, but at least it was a change. The chicken was perfectly acceptable fried chicken. No more and no less than what is expected of fried chicken. However there were no spice packets, so I had to grab the hot sauce from the fridge. The corn on the cob was OK(typically been sitting in a bath of water for a while CotC). The mashed potatoes were thick and dense, and not in a good way(not smooth and creamy like the Colonel’s). Still, they were edible and did get eaten. The yeast rolls were very yummy. We had enough left over for dinner that night, so 2 meals for three people for $ 30 is not bad. The next time we are craving livers or gizzards in Granbury I suspect that we’ll be back. PS. Map is bit off, Golden Chick is on Acton Highway(can’t miss it).
