Honestly, probably the best filet I have ever had. My friend and I ordered the same entrée, an 8oz filet with two large scallops. Beyond wonderful– cooked as we both requested. We tried the dipping sauces on advice from a friend and all three were unique– a truffle butter(oh mama!!), a teriyaki type sauce and a third with mushrooms. I could pass on the shroom sauce as it was not to my taste but it also was good. We shared sides and by far, the potatoes au gratin were fabulous with a heavy cheese crust(maybe cheddar) and a creamy sauce surrounding the slices. The fire roasted corn was well done also. We each had a glass of wine, I had a red blend while my friend had a Riesling. I thought the prices were very high($ 12 and $ 15) but the pours were generous. Finally, crème brûlée for dessert. Absolutely perfect. I would come here for special occasions as my meal cost about $ 100 but I can truly say that it was a memorable meal that I will be raving about for some time.

We celebrated our anniversary(2 couples) and had some gift cards to «soften the pain». It is not inexpensive for sure, but a wonderful experience with great food and service and ambiance. Seriously the best calamari I’ve ever had anywhere, anytime! MUSTTRY! Lamb was out of this world. Surf and Turf was fabulous, as was the asparagus with béarnaise. Cowboy rib eye was fabulous, and probably the only less than stellar item was the New York strip I had. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, but not the best I’ve had. I expected it to be out of this world and it was a 3.5 out of 5. Still a great steak. The banana cream pie and crème brûlée were fabulous, as was the 1985 Dow Vintage port!

Very disappointed. I received an email about a special 5 course dinner promo for April 28th. I made arrangements to have a sitter on a school night, so my wife and I can celebrate an early anniversary dinner. After I made the reservation online, the date I got was April 26th. I called the restaurant to figure out what happened and after being put on hold for a while and talking with 2 different people, I found out that they decided not to follow their corporate promo and move the dinner date to April 26th. A date that is not convenient for me. What upset me the most is that the manager never bothered get on the phone or make any attempt to make this up. There are better steak houses in town. Leo’s, Chop House, and others. Very disappointed as I am a big fan of the Ruth’s Chris restaurants when I travel. I think this is more of a local issue and not a reflection of the whole chain.

Went to Ruth’s Chris for my mom’s birthday. Service was impeccable and steaks were awesome. Seared Tuna was a bit disappointing but everything else we ordered was phenomenal. My medium rare ribeye was cooked perfectly and so was my mom’s medium cooked filet. The«forbidden apple» dessert was a very nice surprise… You can never go wrong with Ice cream with liquor. Our table was decorated with rose petals(I guess that is for birthday celebration? It was so sweet) and my mom received birthday wishes from several of restaurant staff. It was an awesome night all in all. Will definitely go back for my next celebration.

You really never have a bad experience at a place like this. We have all been there for dinner but let’s talk about happy hour or after dinner celebrations. My wife and I came in last night after going to the reserve for a light dinner. We decided to go for deserts and what I love here is that even though it’s a chain restaurant the menus are always evolving. We had a new desert(new to us) the bread pudding– it was served as a warm piece of doughy bread and is brought out with a shot of your choice of creamy liqueur– we took the frangelico. The desert was so good that we were almost sword fighting with our silverware for the last bites. We also had some wine and coffee. Overall the total was under $ 30 and it was a great way to end the night.

Ate here for my birthday with my dad, starting with the Pomegranate Martini(amazing) my dad had the Eastside Manhattan and I had total drink envy it was amazing! We shared the chop salad, cowboy ribeye, potatoes and the asparagus — it was all delicious. However the best thing about the night was our sever. She was so great and attentive I couldn’t ask for anything else. We will be back!

I grew up in a small hick town not from around here. It was my parents and I. We had no idea what to expect at I am sure a 5 star restaurant(if it’s not 5 star it is close). I found this all to be an interesting experience not used to a place of this status. For those who never been to a place like this here is a heads up. The waitstaff has waitstaff. I am not kidding. The waiter would come out to see what we want and his assistant would help him by getting the food and cleaning the table for us. I never saw such a thing. Picture the Beverly Hillbillies eating at a fancy place. I bet we stuck out not knowing what would happen next and what was expected of us. As for a review of the place: 1. The food was fantastic. If I was rich I would eat there more often as the food is just that good. It was cooked properly. It had great presentation. There was enough to fill me up. It was worth the stop. 2. The service was great. Like I said I never saw a waiter with a waiter before. The waiter was on the top of his game. His assistant got our things in a timely fashion and handled himself very well to make this all a welcoming and fulfilling experience. 3. The atmosphere was nice. It was a holiday we were there(I think Thanksgiving). As you can guess it was very busy. I cannot give much of an opinion as it wasn’t your average day. 4. You get what you pay for so needless to say it is pricey. It is worth it! If you have the chance to go then do it(unless you don’t eat meat).

Very disappointed in this Ruths Chris, I’ve been to many all over the US. Caesar salad was mediocre at best, steak was very good(not great) but the worst was an undercooked and stone cold baked potato. My server was so busy(she did a great job) that I didn’t bother her until I was done and the butter still hadn’t melted on the potato!

It was a noisy night in the Grand to begin with, but it was our anniversary. For years I had heard nothing but exemplary reviews of RCSH. This location fell far from my expectations. For starters the noise level was higher than the average family restaurant. The seating and presentation though was adequate. But for being a steak house, they couldn’t cook a well done steak right. It took two steaks and sending back to the kitchen of each before getting done correctly. In the end I could have brought all the kids with us to an Australian named steakhouse, had a better prepared steak, and still cost less than this meal.

It’s expensive, but it’s the best steak you’ll ever have! The wait staff is wonderful and bend over backwards to make sure your experience is nothing short of excellent.

This gem is located right in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids… a perfect atmosphere with large comfortable chairs, great lighting, and bordering the beautiful Amway Grand. I moved to this city from Chicago a couple of months ago and have been unimpressed with the dining options in town until we stopped here tonight. Our entire table loved everything we tried. Appetizers… the crab cakes were very fresh and crab-laden, the calamari had a delicious glaze, and the spicy lobster bites were divine! I’d probably get all of them again. For the meal, most of the table ordered filets with the bleu cheese crust. very tender and great steaks(all cooked perfectly except for one that was ordered medium well and was pretty red inside). The au gratin potatoes were creamy and bursting with flavor. Loved them! We were unable to conquer dessert after the amazing meal, but we’re excited to come back and looking forward to trying some then! Highly recommend this place!

Visited recently and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The chef cooked my filet to perfection, the waitress suggested the perfect wine pairing at our request, and the cheesecake is sublime. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for here.

If you are looking for a dining experience then Ruth’s Chris always delivers. If you are looking to go out for dinner and get the most out of your money, this is not your place. Is Ruth’s Chris steaks better than anywhere else; no. I have personally had better steaks and paid far less; you should be going to Ruth’s as an experience not for value for your dollar. You go here to impress, not for savings and volume. The staff is of a higher caliber and they know their menu forwards and back again; they were not just hired yesterday, and they were trained to make sure to add value to the diner’s experience. If you are looking for a volume dinner, it is not here. If you are in search of elevated dining, this is the place.

Wow! Another enjoyable Ruth’s Chris experience. This is our 4th time we have celebrated our wedding anniversary here and the experience was simply top shelf. Our cocktails, appetizers(BBQ Shrimp for me and the Sliced Tomato and Onion salad for my lady), T-Bone steaks, and fresh Maine lobster just couldn’t be any better. So happy that a first-class steakhouse like this exists in Grand Rapids. Dan and Sean — our wait staff — were enjoyable and prompt — catering to our every need. As usual we appreciated the hospitality and look forward to our next dining experience.

My experience made me feel that Ruth’s Cris is a glorified Brann’s with the exception being that everything here was a la carte. The service we had was amazing. The pricing for the quality was not amazing. My boyfriend and I went to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and both ordered caesars salads. They were nothing special and definitely weren’t worth $ 12 a plate. Then our steaks came. My Petite Filet tasted no different than a sizzler you would find at Brann’s but at least they offer A1 sauce to give the steak some sort of flavor. My boyfriend said his Ribeye also lacked flavor. At the end they brought us a dessert which was really nice! It was cheesecake and they wrote«Happy Anniversary» in chocolate on the plate. But they spelled anniversary wrong which I found silly since Ruth’s Cris is supposed to be a «quality» restaurant.

Its surprising what has happened to the quality of the«high end» steakhouse chains after the recession. Its rare to get a great steak(or classic steak pan sauces) anymore at these chains. We went for a birthday with 4 people. We ordered filet mignon. One person ordered it medium well. It came out medium rare — not even close. The server took back the steak and mentioned that we would get it in a few minutes. Oddly i sensed something worse was happening and called back the server. I was affirming that a new filet was being cooked. She said no it wasnt, the new manager wanted the cook to «butterfly» the original filet. I said that was acceptable at Outback but unacceptable at Ruth Chris. So we all finished our steak and 30 minutes later the new filet arrived. We then all awkwardly watched her eat her filet. They forgot that we had a birthday celebration at the table. We paid our check. I noticed that they lost their General Manager. Looks like the new GM is getting costs in line and driving away guests. Wont be back for awhile unless provoked. Although my last meal at the Chop House wasnt so good either. Maybe, next time, I need to leave GR and drive to Chicago for a good steak dinner? Sadly, this is very typical of my visits to Ruth Chris units around the country(In Atlanta at RC on business dinner last month and was told the«chef» did not know how to cook pan sauces such as Au Poivre /Peppercorn? Pretty shocking.) Now that Mortons was purchased by the lowly cost-centric chain Landrys, the only chain that still delivers a consistently high quality experience around the country is Capital Grille. If you can, go there. It is consistently good. Three stars(considering the price) overall. Four for service. Two for food.

Located in the Amway Grand Hotel, this restaurant replaced the local 1913 Room. A little bit sad to see the big chains coming in but apparently visitors want to eat somewhere they have heard of before. We started our meal with some really tasty appetizers. My absolute favorite is their spicy lobster bites which I order every time I’m here. Second favorite was the sea scallops. Finished up with some veal osso bucco raviolis and the tuna. Can’t go wrong with their apps. Before the main course, squeezed in a Harvest salad. Had fried crispy onions, bacon and Cajun nuts. For some reason I couldn’t taste the Cajun spice and the salad was bit bland for my taste. I would opt for the soup course next time. Steaks are wet aged 14 days and come out on some hot plates(500 degrees). Tried the surf and turf which was an 8 oz filet accompanied by two large sea scallops. Ordered medium rare and I think it came it a little more towards medium. We did family style side dishes: mushrooms, spinach with garlic, shoestrings, asparagus, potatoes and broccoli. While the main course was very good, the sides were just ok. Best way to describe it is that it reminded me of eating raw veggies without any dip, nothing wrong just lacking flavor. Overall the service was great(20 percent gratuity automatically added for our party of 6), atmosphere was appropriate for a business dinner, and parking was convenient for being downtown. Insider tips: park at the Amway ramp and they discount your parking to $ 5 or use their valet and they discount to $ 10. Have a walk around the historic hotel after dining to work off the meal.

When we made our reservation, I made sure to let the hostess know that we’d be dining with a toddler. Going in with a toddler, we were a little apprehensive because we thought he would be too loud and disturb other guests. The service at the restaurant was so awesome that they sat us in a louder section of the restaurant and checked in every so often to see if we were doing alright. Our table had a bright red curved booth, just perfect to hide the energetic toddler and was amazing at somehow lightening the sound of his booming voice. We ordered the calamari appetizer(couldn’t get the toddler to try it though); asparagus, mashed potatoes, and potatoes lyonnaise for our sides(served family-style); and, of course steaks for dinner. Our toddler had chicken tenders and French fries from their kid’s menu — yes, Ruth’s Chris has a kid’s menu! All of our food was exceptional and it was nice to enjoy the meal as a family. We did have to keep the toddler away from our plates though, because they are delivered piping hot. I’ll admit that it was a bit of a challenge since, of course, all he wanted to do was reach out to grab the plates! I did, however, have to remove the toddler from the restaurant at one point though. He was just getting a little impatient while waiting for his meal. I quickly scooped him up and headed outside for a few minutes while he calmed down. I returned to the table with a more subdued toddler and managed to avoid disturbing the other patrons too much. Overall, I’m glad we decided to try a more upscale restaurant with a toddler in tow. We all managed to enjoy our meal without too much of a disturbance from the little one. And if you’ve never had a steak from Ruth’s Chris, you’ve got to give it a try. It’s one of my favorite steakhouses!

Phenomenal. We made same day reservations on a Sunday and snagged their latest available spot. We were shown immediately to our table, overlooking Monroe. Our server Susie was extremely professional, knowledgable, witty, and sincere– the service we received was impeccable. High notes: the NY strip, spinach au gratin, tomato & onion salad, spicy lobster appetizer, & chocolate sin cake. Very nice wine list coupled with on point recommendations from Susie. A member of our party was celebrating her birthday and received a nice surprise. The bill… well, that was a surprise, too, hehehe. Ruth’s Chris completely exceeded my expectations.
