I’m really picky about my burgers, I’ve actually been trying a couple spots downtown as of late, and their burgers are really good. I ordered their Z burger and my friend ordered their best cheeseburger and they were huge! It was a somewhat long wait even tho it was around 1pm, not their busiest time I’m sure, but otherwise everyone was really nice.

I didn’t eat here, but I sure did drink. It almost looks like a dive bar, or maybe… it is a dive bar. The ribs looked good, as the person next to me was eating a rack. The drinks are STRONG, too. One cocktail will have you feeling all sorts of good. The service offers something to be desired, though. Prices are great and offset the service deficiencies.

So naturally after watching House of Cards for the past few months, I have been on the hunt for a place to get a nice rack(of ribs). After doing a few google searches, «2 Scott’s»(I think is what it’s called) and this place. 2 Scott’s hours of operation made it impossible for me during the week, so I was left with Z’s. I am no connoisseur of ribs, so I really can’t speak about the meat in any way, but the sauce, traditional(you have a choice between traditional and spicy.) was average at best. But the French fries! I didn’t realize fries could be so bad. I had half a fry and decided I didn’t want to experience that again. Prices seemed a bit high for what you were getting.

Pretty dive-y, but that’s why I like it. Huge menu and pretty good service. In my experience the server’s aren’t over the top friendly, which is actually kind of nice. Good place to hang out and have some cocktails.

Had another great lunch and as usual my awesome server Alana did a great job. As always it’s affordable and tasty.

My favorite are the Buffalo Chicken Rolls on the app. Menu. And there’s karaōke 3 times a week. It’s fun at night and laid back during the day.

Well, if you like fried, fattening and unhealthy, I have found your destination! I could not find one item on the menu that was health conscious, except a salad. Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Mac n Cheese and an occasional cheesy, savory morsel, but not all or nothing? That or a salad… that’s about it. Hmmmm, it came highly rated, but perhaps that is how these people who highly rated it, EAT! Not me, next…

Great location, friendly staff and affordable prices for a very good burger and beer. The bar is huge and they offer a ton of beers. I liked the booths it gave a little privacy.

Great historic feeling spot in Grand Rapids. Came in for brunch Sunday at 12. They don’t serve brunch but they do have $ 3 bloody marys that I enjoyed… they included a pickle. Thats a huge win in my book. Mimosas are $ 4. Great service and relaxed atmosphere, vintage booths, big bar, old carpet. My kind of place. Solid food. Ordered a southwest salad at the servers suggestion and it was way better than expected! Burger that a friend ordered looked totally legit. Locally baked bun looked awesome. Other friend got a thin crust pizza. Thinnest pizza I’ve ever seen. Didn’t try it, but it was enjoyed by her. All in all a great Sunday at Z’s. If I lived in town, I’d stop by this place often for food and booze.

Friendly bar atmosphere and perky wait staff make this place easy to slip into their high booths. I started with mozzarella sticks and they were bland, under cooked and with cold red sauce(a major no no). My second was their famous burger and a side of their downtown chili. Both ok but wholly uninspired. You could get them anywhere and if trapped in Grand Rapids like I was… They filled the belly but not much more. The Hail Mary pass was when my server brought a side of their house made BBQ sauce. Dynamite stuff. Maybe next time their ribs are the better choice. Will there be a next time? I doubt it…

This was my first time in Grand Rapids and I enjoyed Z’s. The location is great. The only concern I had is that it took over 10 minutes for someone to recognize me once I sat down and they brought my dinner right after my salad. My server was very nice though. The Mac and cheese with steak tips was very good. They have a nice bar with many local brews on tap(which means that I need to get back soon to try more). I will give this place another shot when I am back in town.

It’s my first time in town, and I got in late. Walked across the street, and saw a lively crowd at Z’s. The food is average, the beer is cold and tasty, and my service at the bar was excellent. Added up to a good time. Ordered the ribs, which were just ok. Only odd thing is the karaōke and drunk people ballroom dancing. I’d prefer a guy playing guitar or even the juke box. That said, the place was jumping, so I wouldn’t change if I were Z’s, but just know that’s the scene if you go.

I love(d) z’s. It was a great place when I lived in plaza towers and I still like it when I’m in town and want good wings and ribs. Recently I sent my parents there this past Friday for a date night and said it would be a nice change but not too much of a change from their dives like Bud and Stans and Cheers and Corner bar etc… Make a long story short they were treated poorly. My father is an avid fan of all things fried fish. He was told his burnt fish was supposed to be like that by management and when returned and re served was told he didn’t know how catfish was supposed to be served. Fortunately my mother knows rancid oil when she SMELLS it. I know fried products in poor oil by sight. I am p o’d because I recommended this place to a demographic that is finding it harder to find places downtown to feel comfortable at and they made me look like an ass and condescended my my knowledgeable parents.

We made the mistake of stopping in here late at night because the place was across from our hotel. I ordered a dark & stormy and they served me what tasted like a rum and coke and looked nothing like a dark & stormy. We also made another mistake in ordering a plate of nachos for the table. While they went down okay because we were starving, it didn’t turn out so good the next morning. As another reviewer here mentioned, be prepared to have a case of butt blasting diarrhea if you eat here. This is not a joke. You will be ill. Avoid this place at all costs.

If you are dying to give yourself a case of Blast-O-Rhea, eat here. The chicken wings are triple breaded and mushy, like in a box from the supermarket. I was tempted to try the ribs, but at $ 26 for a full rack? Uh, no, I don’t quite believe they are award winning.

Logged quite a few hours in here recently. Enjoyed listening to the karaōke and the juke box that you can control via phone. Was with a large party and bartenders Rob & Lisa treated us very well, even when a couple people got too excited and spilled some things. 10⁄10 would ride barstool again. Why people bringing in children & babies to this place though?

I have been here for a drink in the past and let me say, that was a drink! I mos def was not short changed on that one! Bought a deal online and decided to check out the food with my Sis & her family. Was nervous it wouldn’t be kid friendly but it totally was. They even have a kids menu with fantastically stupid jokes on it. Score! I had a blue cheese burger that was very good — burger was bigger than the bun & I couldn’t eat it all. The fries were good, nice & potato-y. In my group we also had the buffalo chicken wrap, almond crusted chicken salad & nachos. Good news all around on the food and the service was great as well. The extremely drunk couple at the bar at 5:30 pm almost made this a 5 star but since I don’t they are a permanent feature there for my amusement I couldn’t factor them in here. No doubt will be back here for drinks & food!
