I really wanted to like this place. We had dinner with friends before heading over to notre dame for a hockey game. This was our first visit here and there was nothing that would make us excited to come a second time. I ordered the chicken parm and a simple dinner salad. The salad was just chopped iceberg lettuce with onions and some cranberries on the side in the dressing lacked flavor and the chicken parm was overcooked and tough and the side of pasta was over cooked and flavorless.

Pretty, new location with bad food. Ordered the lobster bisque to start, tasted like Campbell’s tomato soup with some overcooked, fishy meat chunks floating around. Lasagne followed, very bland. Service was friendly, the server though brought a saucer with herbs and olive oil to accompany the bread and his thumb was immersed in it. No problem, he just put his thumb in his mouth and cleaned it right up!

We had a great experience at Villa Macri. Due to a late cancellation we needed a space to feed our team of 60 student-athletes. I spoke with the owner, Jerry, and he put together a great meal for the team at a reasonable price. The food was delicious, the staff was very accommodating, and the space and overall atmosphere was perfect. Highly Recommend!

Oh so amazingly delicious. For an appetizer we had the baked cheese in marinara which is goat cheese, romano and fontinella in marinara sauce and bread for spreading it on. So delicious and when we took home our left overs the server gave us extra bread for it. I had the sea food alfredo. It was amazing and there was so much of it that it made more than another full meal for me. My husband had the lasagna and was very pleased with it. Also more than he could eat. We also noticed that they had a fine gelato selection! We were too full to enjoy it, but we’ll definitely be back to try it! Another nice thing about Macri is that they have 3 rooms and you can choose which dining experience you want. Two have televisions in them, we chose the one without. It had pretty string lights and big windows.

I always loved Macri’s Deli when I was growing up in South Bend. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to the new Villa Macri in Heritage Square. I am happy we decided to have dinner here on Saturday night. We asked to sit on the patio near the fountain. They have a beautiful covered patio with lights and quiet music. Our service was fantastic! The host at the front, our server, and the food runner were accommodating and professional. I split the Pork Osso Bucco with red potatoes and side salad. They went ahead and split the salad and entrée. I could not believe the portion size! I would highly recommend this dish and the pomegranate balsamic salad dressing. Next time I will try to save room for dessert. Overall– great service and amazing food selection. I will be back to Villa Macri very soon!

High prices, edible food, small portions. If this is the best Italian food that Mishawaka has to offer, maybe it’s better to eat at home.

I have had dinner here twice and both times the food was excellent as was the service. The portion sizes are appropriate and one does not leave hungry. The décor is beautiful, and the atmosphere is pleasant. We have no complaints and will eat here again. It is much better than restaurants such as Olive Garden.

We went to Villa Macri for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight event in the sports theatre room. It was amazing! The food, drinks, atmosphere were awesome! My husband and I just moved to Granger and this was our first date out. He gave me a 12⁄10 for planning! Thank you for a great night!

I echo what all of the other reviewers have said. The mediocre food and service at this restaurant does not live up to the beautiful décor and atmosphere. I have been there three times over the past two years and left wishing I had gone to Olive Garden instead each time. Macris used to be a South Bend staple. I don’t know what went wrong with this place.

After a few visits I would definitely visit for lunch and beer in the Theatre Room(aka sports bar). The location is great for groups and the food is fine(on par with Olive Garden). The staff usually seems overwhelmed, but tries to be attentive.

I haven’t been there a lot but when I did go their I like the ambiance a lot I also liked the seating arrangement with the booths. Everyone had adequate personal space. Cuz I am a booth girl. I hate sitting in the center of the restaurant. Up underneath people. The food is very upscale, and of course… for an upscale price too. It reminds me of an Italian less seafood version of bonefish grill. But waaaaaaay bigger. One thing that’s very different/unique is the restaurant is constructed like a maze, with too many sections that are divided. Over all it’s a NICE restaurant though, and in a nice location, but as far as good quality I think Papa Vino’s and Carraba’s is better and cheaper. When you go to villa macri’s your paying for the ambiance with descent food, not bad food, but not mind blowing food either. Unless you make a lot of money I would only go on special occasions. Or a first date to impress someone.

The wife, daughter, mother-in-law and I went spelunking here at 1:00 today. We were seated in the sport viewing area. We were the only party there. Dark like Carlsbad, the mother-in-law had to use her headlamp in order to read the menu. The wait-person was fantastic and attended to all our desires. The echo in this expansive cavern lent to its ambiance and aided with correctness of our order. The wife and I had the«Old Chicago» sandwich which was Jake and Elwood’s favorite, or so they said. Beef and sweet Italian sausage gave this lunch it’s maximum flavor. Hot peppers & homemade chips just added to the perfection we had. If one had any complaints it would be that there was too much. You really got quantity for your Lira. The adult beverages were potent. The dirty martini that the daughter had was extra dirty and delicious. Will definitely return to this bistro but I doubt a ND football game day would be a good idea even if they have an abundance of mammoth flat screen tv’s it could be over populated. ciao

If you are looking for«the old Macri’s» you are going to be disappointed. Which is too bad because this is a great Italian restaurant. The salads you start with are delicious, make sure you get the house dressing — pomegranate balsamic. We have had many excellent appetizers. The phyllo mozzarella is yummy as are the mussels(best in the area!). Tonight we had chicken parmigiana and it did not disappoint. And the wine list is exceptional considering the prices. Saturday special — $ 10 off any bottle of wine over $ 35. You can’t beat it. If you come for the Italian food and skip the bar food and sandwiches you will be pleased.

Admittedly, I was a bit nervous to try Villa Macri after reading some of the Unilocal reviews. However, we were quite pleased with our experience. Our server, Megan, was delightful. She was patient as we asked a lot of questions about the drink and dinner menus, and prompt with food and drink refills. Drink specials are also available on weekends, which is a refreshing change as most restaurants only offer specials during the week. The guys had beer and mixed drinks, while we ladies started with martinis. The martini list was great! I tried the orange dreamsicle, while my sister had the s’mores martini. My only negative comment on the drinks is that our glasses were only about 2⁄3 full. Typically, martini glasses are filled to the top. Wine glasses were less than half full. I’d recommend either the restaurant fill those glasses higher, or just use smaller ones. My sister also made the same comment about her drinks. But, this was relatively minor. We started with the spinach artichoke appetizer. It was served with fresh bread and quite yummy. Cheesy on top, but I love cheese, so it was fine by me! Our entrees were recommended by the server, and we were all pleased. I had the Chicken Picatta — which was a large two breast portion. My dining partners had butternut squash ravioli, chicken george, and steak george. Everyone was pleased with their meals. Although we did get a side of potatoes that was way too seasoned. Ugh… Having been to two other Italian restaurants recently,(Olive Garden and Mia Francesca, Chicago) I will admit this is better than Olive Garden, but not quite up to the standards of the Chicago-based Francesca’s restaurants. However, for the South Bend area, I found it to be a more-than-sufficient choice.

Was told by the owner to come by and try the food. Just a tip… If you own a restaurant and have crappy service, don’t invite people to come by. Only 5 other tables and we never ate. Waited 50 minutes and never even got our appetizer(waitress swore 3 times she was bringing it right out). Two other tables who arrived and were seated after us received their dinner. The waitress acted offended that we were leaving. They could have good food, but don’t feel like being the first in line yet last to be served in order to try it. Papa Vinos all the way, baby!

We will not be back. Two years ago I promised I’d never return, as I was charged $ 12 for what was clearly a frozen pizza. I decided to give them another chance tonight, and, before I was given my main course, I noticed the following problems: –No silverware or napkins on the table(didn’t get any until our appetizers were getting cold) –Empty soap dispenser in the men’s room –Leaking ceiling in the lady’s room –Ten minutes after I ordered, I was informed that, though it is still on the menu, the dish I ordered is no longer available. –The dish I asked for instead, the Villa Alfredo, is not worth the $ 18 I paid for it. If I bought it as a TV dinner I would have found it acceptable, but I only ate about a third of it before I gave up. The meatballs on it were OK. –The service is slow, and while she wasn’t rude, she also seemed unconcerned with our experience. –The décor is kitschy and overstated. I suggest going anywhere else: this place is not worth your time or money.

We’ve tried several times to give this place another shot, but the food is always mediocre, the service just OK, and the layout of this place is absurd. The old Macri’s Deli was a local staple. The sports bar area is poorly thought out. Too bright, quiet, and usually empty. The menu is nothing special. I miss the old Macri’s Deli days. The layout of this place is strange. Like the architect was drunk when it was drawn up. There’s no flow, rhyme, or reason, and seems tacky. All the money dumped into this place was spent on naked angel statues, pavers, and hallways. It should have been spent on developing decent food and not a nightmare of a restaurant layout.

Overpriced, terrible service, and terrible quality. The quality of the food was definitely not worth the price. It took almost two hours for them to prepare the meal for our group. They ran out of half of the menu items and the waiter ended up doing more apologizing than providing any service. I had the steak which was overcooked. Several of the people in my group ordered pasta dishes, which were almost cold by the time they came out. Honestly if you want to shell out about $ 20 to $ 30 per entrée you are better off going elsewhere.

Fun décor, great location, excellent food, and good service. A place that will let you sit and talk and not rush you out. Feels like a totally different experience than a typical franchise restaurant or even the trendy place of the moment. A place to enjoy dining and not just be processed per the usual customer formula.

Clearly, they’ve invested a lot in this location. «Toscana Park» looks great, but the food at Villa Macri doesn’t measure up. I’ve eaten in the dining room, and in the more casual section. Both times, I was disappointed. In the dining room, we ordered an eggplant appetizer. The server brought it to the table, and as he put it down, one of the three eggplant discs slid off the plate and onto the table. He just picked it up with his fingers and put it back. Ick. Another member of my party had pasta, and it arrived at the table all stuck together in a mass. There is nothing more basic than an Italian restaurant cooking pasta properly, and VM doesn’t have that skill down yet. This is a fun place for a beer and some snacks, but don’t expect authentic or well-prepared cuisine.
