One word for the restaurant would be WORN! Tape on the benches stains and marks on tables, etc… One word about service would be RUSHED! Waitress put the tag on the table 2 mins. after bringing our food. We were planning on ordering another entrée. Too bad for iHop! The food was good. But not anything out of the ordinary since we are at a franchised restaurant.

Our experience here(today) was really pretty good. Service was timely, staff was friendly, facility was clean(and the table top and bench seat not at all syrup sticking). I’m fairly sure that much of the staff are greenhorns in the food service industry. no problem, just an observation. Why IHOP today? It was here, we were hungry, and Carl’s Jr just wasn’t in my future. We’ve been to this IHOP a few times in the past when in the area. Never an issue with food or service. Besides our typical eggs and bacon and/or sausage breakfast, we opted to add on a short stack of the seasonal Pumpkin Pancakes and a Berry Cream Cheese Crêpe. The pumpkin pancakes were pumpkin pie in a pancake, and good. They really didn’t need any syrup(and if it were just me, there’d be no syrup). The crêpe was sweet sweet sweet and put together well. I wish the fruit was fresh — the blue berries were fresh but the strawberries had been marinating a while. I’m really not big on sweets. Overall, a good experience and solid breakfast. Before writing this review I was really curious why the low star rating on this IHOP location. A total of 7 reviews had been written about this location. 3 negative reviews are 2 or more years old. One less than favorable review this year was because they had to wait for more than 5 minutes after being seated. The remaining reviews(3 of them ranging from 3 stars to 5 stars spanned the last 3 years). My point: before deciding based solely on the star rating, especially for places that have only a few reviews, pay attention to the total number of reviews, the aging of the reviews, and the review rating rational.

It just really irks me to read the snotty and entitled reviews of our I-HOP from people who do not live here. Man. Go back to the Bay Area – PLEASE. This place is absolutely great. The servers have been at this restaurant for many years and know many of us by name. They are attentive and nice. They work on their feet all day and many of them have kids, go to school. Many of them have gone the extra mile for us, corrected errors quickly, and dealt with our insignificant issues sincerely. The food is typical corporate Sisco food, the exact same stuff delivered to Denny’s and other corporate restaurants. It is not organic. It is not local. It is corporate food by a corporate restaurant chain. If this upsets you, go to S Pine St Café in GV or NCity. Go somewhere else. For friendly staff, decent corporate food, a pleasant and clean restaurant, you can’t beat our local I-HOP.

In town for the weekend and stopped by here for a small crêpe and an appetizer, and to visit my cousin Moses who is a host here :) Food came out nice and timely. Our server Shane was SUUUPER patient and polite with us taking a while to order, keeping us posted on our orders often and making sure we were satisfied! The only reason one star was taken off was because the apparent«manager on duty» Ricardo was extremely rude, circling our area like a hawk, eyeballing us the whole time without saying hello or anything. I understand that you want to keep your employees on task, but I didn’t realize catching up with family from another city is strictly forbidden under his watch. Lol. We were still paying customers. All I wanted was to give my cousin a quick hug and ask him how he was doing while he was seating us and taking drink orders. It’s the same thing as making small talk with your server! But I guess he pulled my cousin to the side and said he was not allowed to have contact with us. Lovely, right? Besides that small annoyance I wouldn’t mind coming back for a quick and easy dinner out :)

Server forgot us after we were seated for over 5 minutes. Food was bland. Would not honor our coupons as we didn’t order drinks. Cashier’s attitude was almost rude. Won’t be back.

First the positives: I am giving three stars mainly for the service which was excellent. Our server Estella did a lovely job and made the experience of eating out with a baby, a small child, two teenagers and three adults enjoyable. The selection was good as we had a hard time deciding where to eat and this gave everyone lots of choices. The part that was hard was getting the bill afterwards. I used to think IHOP was a lower cost meal, but not anymore. A soda costs $ 2.49 and nearly every adult meal was $ 10. For 5 adults and one child(kids eat free) we were charged $ 88.37 before the tip. The food was fine, but I will choose another restaurant next time I want to pay $ 88 for a family meal.

Steven, who seated us, was so friendly. He found out we were new to the area and gave us some excellent recommendations for a few places to visit. After breakfast we took his advice and headed to the Yuba River. It was beautiful and we had such an awesome, unexpected adventure thanks to Steven! As far as the restaurant is concerned– the entire staff was friendly and the food was great.

I didn’t receive the second half of my milkshake and after asking if I could please have it, our waitress admitted to to tasting it! True story.

As good as IHOP gets I suppose. Service was great, place was clean and had wonderful high pine ceilings. I’ve never seen such small stalls in a restroom and then filled with large impossible paper dispensers. The crispy chicken salad was surprisingly good but $ 7 for a single plain waffle just felt wrong.

Its alright food in a pinch and they stay open later when most Grass Valley companies or restaurants close early. The customer service is good. I’d recommend.

Absolutely the worst ever. I know it is I hop and I went in with very low expectations going in. I usually avoid this type of chain food at all cost, but it was Easter and we were moving and had celebrated on Saturday. Everything was closed… The service was horrible… The food was beyond horrible. The side salad came with red onions that were green and growing mold… seriously? How do you not notice green fuzz on red onions? The pickles and fruit that came with our sandwiches were transparent… so either kept too cold or just old. I ordered the philly cheese steak… all I could taste was the oil they use to mop the grill and the roll was very soggy. I ate two bites and took it home to feed to the dog. I felt sick the rest of the day… I will never… never …never go back… The service was also horrible… however even the best service ever could not convince me to step foot back in that place.

Horrible, terrible service, all direct from the manager. We went with a group of six people. I have a food allergy and asked the server to check I the dish I wanted contained it. He came back and said the manager told him he doesn’t have time to check ingredients and to tell me to assume everything contained it. NICE! A table of six and you can’t check for an ingredient? Then I read the other reviews and now I understand that the owner and manager are so cheap that they won’t even put in diaper stations for the moms and families in the area. We left and went to Paulette’s Country Kitchen just down the street. WAY better service, homemade foods. Awesome service at Paulette’s and they are family friendly. GOTOPAULETTE’s and avoid the crappy service and obvious lack of care for their customers. Any restaurant manager willing to let six people walk out because he’s too lazy to check ingredients should be fired but since the owner doesn’t care either why would he fire the manager?

There’s not much I dislike more than having to write a bad review for a locally-owned business, which explains why I’ve put it off for over a week. That being said… We visited the Grass Valley IHOP with a large group — two grandparents, two children and their spouses and four grandchildren. We called the day before, and were not allowed to make a reservation, even for the large group. Knowing that we might have to wait, we arrived 20 minutes before we wanted to eat. The three tables in the restaurant that could have accommodated a group of our size were all parsed out into 2-and-4 ups with leftover 2-ups on the sides. This is bad planning by the host staff, and left us waiting for 25 minutes — we ended up having to sit at separate tables. After ordering, my sister had to change her baby’s diaper, and I offered to help her. We got into the restroom, and were surprised to find no baby changing station, counter, or anywhere but the floor(which was too dirty) to change the baby. We left the restroom and asked one of the staff where we can go to change the baby. «Oh,» she said, «we get complaints about that all the time. We don’t have anywhere to change babies.» So, off to the car we went. On the next business day, I called the restaurant to speak to the manager or owner. The manager informed me that yes, they do get a number of complaints, but that the owner had told him that installing a changing station was cost prohibitive — and since it’s not legally required, he wasn’t going to provide one. He promised me that the owner would call me back within three days to discuss the issue, which, natch, didn’t happen. I’m not normally so militant, but IHOP is a family restaurant, and baby changing stations are, in fact, not a large expense(there are commercial models available starting at $ 125). There is plenty of room in the restroom to install one; perhaps the restaurant isn’t turning enough of a profit to be able to afford to pay $ 125? I vow one thing — if I ever get dragged back to this non-family friendly«family» restaurant, I will bring my niece and change her diaper right on the counter or at one of the tables.

Best IHOP I have been to in a long time, we were there for breakfast. From we entered the restaurant, we were showered with attention, we were seated promptly, the waitress were very prompt and attentive, checking on coffee and the food, making sure we were satisfied. The manager came around to our table plus a trainer/adviser stopped by to make sure all was well with the meal and the service. The meal itself was super, tasty and fresh, delightful. We left the restaurant feeling totally satisfied with our breakfast and sure that if we get back to that area again, IHOP will be the place to eat.

One of the great advantages to living in Grass Valley. A weekend without IHOP is a weekend without the awesome experience of their smiling staff. Their Fit meals are scrumptious and those new cheesy dishes are an awesome way to switch up my routine whole wheat french toast. Every time I go, there is another opportunity to fill out the survey for a free short stack the following weekend. An endless cycle I can’t complain about. I believe Ricky is the main guy and doing an outstanding job. Never a long wait and my favorite table is always available.

I hate IHOP to begin with and this location is no different. At least this location is clean. I find thier food bland and disgusting. Unfortunately I went today and was slightly excited to get crepes but was extrememly let down. I had the nutella crepes and they were SOGGY!!! I have had many crepes in many different places and these were ALLWRONG! Soggy crepes… *shudder* and the strawberries on top were the ones in the jar with the thick disgusting ‘syrup.’ A max of three half strawberries on my three soggy crepes.

I had a delightful time with the Parental Unit in lovely Grass Valley recently. Before leaving town we wanted to have a fun breakfast and both lit up like school girls at the thought of pancakes(or p-cakes as I call them) from IHOP!!! I. Love. Pancakes. Butter, syrup and fluffy cakes. Mmmmmmmm. As for this particular IHOP, it is the biggest, cleanest, and overall nicest hopper I’ve ever been to. When we sat down I marveled at just how nice it was. Great service, too. The P.U. and I like kids, however, we don’t like having them in close proximity while screaming. Someone at this IHOP is flying the plane with all their maps and knobs, as the families were dining over in a section far far away from the rest of us. Tasty P-Cakes for Sparkle-cake.

I gave up on this chain years ago, but returned last week for a family lunch. They have pretty much done away with pancakes on the menu. It is more a standard-fare, medium-priced American style restaurant these days. You can still get pancakes, but not all the varieties they used to serve. They basically serve buttermilk pancakes with a multitude of syrups. I say, stay away from pancakes at IHOP and you will eat just fine. The service here at the Grass Valley location was very friendly!
